Maravillas de Mar
Kristine L.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday with some friends! Parking was difficult to find - beware that the parking lot behind the restaurant requires a permit. We had to find parking on the street. Once we got seated, we were amazed by how extensive the menu is. There are so many options but luckily the menu had several pictures to show what the restaurant was offering. The waiters are very friendly and also provided great recommendations but do note that not all of them speak perfect English! I ordered the Maravillas Del Mar which included fried seafood and ceviche. The ceviche was just okay but the fried calamari and seafood were good! I would just say that it's too much for one person! I brought most of it home. My bf ordered the Colombian breakfast and he really enjoyed it! Some of the meats were a little dry but overall it was a pretty nutritious and tasty meal. Most importantly, we thought this restaurant was such good value for how much food we are getting! We would definitely come back if we are in the area again! Worth checking out!

I was in the area and decided to try this restaurant . I ordered the basa fish lomo which was average and kinda soggy from the sauce .

Amazing service. Was quite busy on a saturday night yet they were able to accommodate us right away without a reservation (i do recommend making a reservation). It is byob, they put our drinks on ice and were constantly refilling our glasses throughout the night. The food was amazing. We got the tbone steak, seafood over yellow rice, and the seafood pasta. Portions are huge so we definetly over ordered. One of the best Peruvian resteraunts ive been to in central jersey. Definetly recommend for a date night or family dinner!!

La comida exquisita. El personal muy amable , respetuosos y muy eficientes. Un ambiente familiar

Party of 6, looking to try Peruvian food, stumbled upon this place, drove 40 min. And here we are! There is a bigger restaurant next door (Mamajuana) to this place and glad we stuck to this. Staff is friendly, ambience and decor beautiful, BYOB, PORTIONs were GENEROUS and DELICIOUS. From a price point perspective, this place is priced just right. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be coming back Punto Peruano!

Chaufa Al Punto

Food is delicious and service was good. They have the best Chaufa Al Punto I've ever had! The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. The rice was perfectly made and tasty.

The country dish. Not sure of actual translation.

Boo Boo, the Brofessor in law, and I came here for dinner after looking at furniture. We were really hungry because our waitress told us that we had to move to a bigger table when our food comes out. It really helps if you know Spanish but I think pointing at the pictured menu would work too. I'm not fluent but I know more Spanish than the average Chinaman. If you're not sure what they are saying just nod and say 'claro que si' and hope for the best. We ordered and shared the bandeja paisa (mixed meat with rice), the Jalea (fried seafood combo), the grilled ribs platter. We also order side of fried yucca and fried sweet plaintains. As a true Peruvian I drank a chicha. Give it a try. At least get the Inca cola if you're not adventurous. If you're in the mood for legit Peruvian/Colombian food come here or go to Elizabeth. There's a void in the xXxwoods, Scotch Plains area. Cc accepted.

We have ordered from there many times and even been there to eat and never had a problem. Yesterday we ordered take out and as I was having my salad I felt " something" in my mouth, like a stone, and it was an olive pit !! Not the olive but an olive pit itself !!! I spit all the bite and I just felt sick and we all stop eating and through everything out. Very disappointed!!. Quality has changed since they became more busy but this is unacceptable to any restaurant. We are not looking for any type of credit or anything. This was such a disgusting experience and who knows if someone else have had the same experience. After this, you have lost two clients and we will be warning people about it. Maybe for the owner losing two clients is nothing but trust me, foe a business is never good to have such a bad review.

I would have given the place a 4 if the server wasn't so slow. When we got there we sat for like 15min and waited for someone to help us. And the wait for the food was a bit longer then what I expected. But I didn't complain about the long wait for the food because the food was delicious. My father had eaten here before and he said that that food was okay. I thought the food was delicious. I had ordered the half chicken with fries and salad. The chicken was really delicious and it was seasoned so perfectly. My father had ordered the Peruvian style spaghetti and that was delicious too. THE PORTIONS WERE HUGE! I loved it! So much food that my father took a lot of it home. To take food home is always a good thing for me. I would definitely order here for take-out not so much to eat in if I was desperate and hungry.

The most delicious beef soup I've ever tasted.

My favorite Peruvian restaurant! Now I have gone to…read moredifferent Peruvian restaurants since I can remember with my family as I'm obviously Peruvian . And this is easily the best one and the one we love the most, Punto Peruano is cuter but in flavor? Doesn't come close. Literally always ask for the pollo la brasa with EXTRA sauces every birthday because it's my favorite thing to eat and it always comes out good every single time. They've moved like 3 times I think and I've followed them each time lol they are just so worth it. If you want real Peruvian food made by real Peruvian, try it! Cuz here's some tea I found out, a lot of these Peruvians places DONT even have Peruvians cooking the food???? Does not make sense and this place DOES! Please give it a try, I promise you won't regret it

La Caravana is a small place right by the train station and post office. A beautiful mural of Machu Pichu inside. A handful of tables. Our food came right out. A whole roasted chicken. Fries and fried sweet plantains. Everthing was outrageously delicious. The fries were hand cut. The chicken was juicy and came with a spicy green sauce that was addictive. We took the plantains home to munch on later. A great meal for a reasonable price. Skip the supermarket and chain roast chicken. Take a drive to Plainfield.

Out of all of them, this location has honestly been the one we've enjoyed the most and the one we keep coming back to. That said, over the past year or two, I do feel the food quality has declined a bit. I recently ordered the lomo saltado (the lower-priced option), and while the meat was flavorful and savory, there was a little too much broth, which made the fries and rice soggy. My husband ordered the tacu tacu with steak, but it felt like there were barely any beans in it. For the kids, we ordered salchipapa. They enjoyed it, but I was expecting the hot dogs to have a little more crisp instead of being soft. What keeps us coming back is the experience here. The restaurant is always clean, organized, and has a really nice ambiance. The staff is attentive, service is quick, and we rarely have to wait or follow up on anything. Their ají verde is still really good too. Overall, I'd say 3.5 stars for the food, but 4 stars for service, ambiance, and overall experience. I really hope the food quality improves because this location has been one of our favorites.

If you're a fan of Hugo's, you'll absolutely love Caído de el Cielo. The décor is Soo cute, creating a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. While the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license (though you can likely bring your own), they serve a delicious chicha morada, refreshing lemonade, a variety of Peruvian sodas, and your typical American soft drinks. From the moment you walk in, the welcoming staff and excellent service set the tone for a great dining experience. The portions are generous, too! We kicked off our meal with the "Trio Causa," a traditional layered potato dish seasoned with ají amarillo and lime, filled with chicken, tuna, and seafood, topped with pickled onions. It was super yummy! For the main course, we had the Arroz Chaufa, a seafood stir-fry rice dish that stole the show. This dish is loaded with seafood- crab, large shrimp, mussels, and calamari, enough to easily share among 2-3 people. We also tried the Lomo Saltado, and wow! The sauce was incredible, and the steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's street parking, but don't let that deter you from experiencing this wonderful place. If you love Peruvian food as much as I do, you won't want to miss it!

Parking is a bit challenging though and their AC was not properly working at the time of my visit (a bit uncomfortable). Among the dishes we tried are as follows: Their Anticucho is phenomenal, it's a beef grilled heart served with fried-boiled potatoes and corn. Choritos a la Chalaca was good, its mussels marinade with lime, served with red onions, tomatoes and cilantro. Lastly, the Jalea was good as well, these are deep fried seafoods (fish, crabs, mussels, etc.) served with onion salads. I will definitely go back next time to try other lists in their menu specially their ceviche. Well recommended Peruvian place!
