Had such a great time at Punchline Comedy Club in Houston. Definitely a hidden gem for a fun lunch date or a night out. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is friendly, and the comedy lineup makes it way more entertaining than your typical outing. Only small heads up the food menu does not list prices which caught me off guard. Not a dealbreaker but something to be aware of going in. Other than that awesome experience. Good vibes good laughs and a really enjoyable way to spend your time.

We went to see stand up comedy here and had a really great time! The show was genuinely funny, and the venue itself made the experience even better. We had general admission and seated in a table with another couple which we didn't mind. The space was clean, had a great ambiance, and even the restrooms were well maintained -- which I always appreciate. The food and drinks were yummy and added to the overall experience, though I do think they're priced a little on the higher side. There's also a two-drink minimum per person, which felt a bit excessive. That said, I still had a really good time and would definitely come back for another show. Overall, a fun night out!

Went here with a large group for a comedy show. The headliner we went to see was very entertaining, however the rest of the acts and the staff were meh. The food was terrible and so were the drinks. They were watered down and overpriced. Won't be back even for a free comedy show. Also, parking sucks! Valet decided to close early because "they weren't busy", so we had to park far away and walk several blocks.

Punch Line Houston has been open for about a year. It's located in the former House of Blues Restaurant in the Greenstreet Complex and is operated by Live Nation. Tickets are general admission and there's typically a regular and upgraded ticket option. There's not a bad seat in the house. There's a mix of 4 top tables, 2 top high top tables, and couches. They have a two beverage minimum (standard for comedy clubs) which includes non-alcoholic beverages. The first show I attended was Ulysses Morazan. He was so silly and entertaining. He allowed for photography and filming. Our server was Andrew and he was nice. My friend ordered the PL Pizza with cauliflower crust. I had the Brisket Sliders with fries. They were better than I was expecting for a comedy club. For my beverages I ordered The Green Room and a Hendrix G+T. The Green Room was okay. At the end of the show, they gave everyone two comp tickets to their drag brunch show but we ended up not using them. The second show that I attended was Charles McBee. He was hilarious! My server, Ruben was nice, but not quite as attentive. I had a difficult time getting his attention to place an order. They had a seasonal food and drink menu but I only had drinks. I ordered the Dusk Til Dawn which was essentially an espresso martini. It was so good and it was much better than The Green Room. I also had a glass of wine. They didn't offer comp tickets after the show so I guess it's random whenever they offer freebies. Charles McBee had a meet and greet after the show. He was so sweet and took his time talking to everyone. They had a staff member available to take photos which helped to keep the line moving. Punch Line Houston has a nice variety of well known acts as well as up and coming comics. I'm looking forward to seeing more comedy shows there!

I came here with girlfriends to see Zainab Johnson. It was my first time at the Punch Line. There are many parking options and I ended up using the GreenStreet Garage. It is little of a walk through the sky ridge and through the building itself. The check in line was smooth and efficient. We were taken to our general admission seats which required two regular tables for our group of 6. There were more cushion type seats available on the side. Our server was super kind. She helped give recs and told us about the two drink minimum. I got liquid death sparkling water and regular water because I didn't want any alcohol. There were mocktail options too. I ordered the double smash burger without onions and added avocados and my friends shared a smash fries appetizer. My burger was so delicious! It was tender and the sauce added great flavor. I would definitely order it to go if possible. I finished the whole thing and the fries were cooked perfectly. My friends loved their smash fries as well. The show ran over its expected time but it just shows how fun we were all having. I love how everyone shows appreciation for each other including the servers! I had a great time and would definitely come back for another show.

Welcome environment, friendly staff. Drinks a lil pricy but well worth it. If I could give more stars, I would

I went to Punch Line Comedy Club for the 7 p.m. show featuring Funny Marco, and while he was the headliner, of the 3 opening acts, @kellykellz_22, stole the show. She was absolutely hilarious and had the whole room in tears. The check-in process was quick and smooth. They had security on-site and even offered coat/umbrella check. We were seated quickly and greeted by a friendly waitress who handed us drink menus, with prices ranging from about $10 to $22. I ordered "The Knockout," a frozen margarita (I ordered it on ice instead of blended). Unfortunately, it tasted only of passion fruit juice and lemonade--absolutely no kick. My friend ordered the Old-Fashioned bourbon, which came with a strong bitter orange taste but still didn't quite hit the mark. Heads up: there is a two-drink minimum during shows (total of 2 drinks for the table), but it doesn't have to be alcohol. I skipped the second round because the first didn't impress. That said, the space itself was super clean--including the bathrooms--and every seat had a good view of the stage. The sound was clear, and the vibe inside felt cozy without being cramped. If I come back (which I probably will for another comedy night), I'd pregame with happy hour elsewhere and stick to mocktails or soda here. Also, a major plus was the free street parking after 6 p.m. on a Saturday right nearby. You really can't beat that in the city.

You never know what or who you will see at Punch Line. I think people sleep of comedy shows, talent and artists that come through Houston. Usually food at these venues is meh, but Punch Line nachos were pipping hot and seasoned well. If you see the signs pointing toward Punch Line it is not upstairs, stay downstairs and look to the right of the water fountain feature. The inside seemed small at first, but it expanded like a fan toward the rear showing additional seating. Why look at You Tube videos when you can get your laugh on for a decent price. This particular time Punch Line featured local comedians with special guest BT Kingsley (Chocolate Sundaes-Los Angeles) and all of them were hilarious. By the way, did you know some of your servers are budding future comedians?

I got invited to come check out a show on a Friday night. Punch Line is a comedy club located in the Greenstreet entertainment complex. It was a Friday night with multiple events happening in downtown so I went with the for sure parking option at the Greenstreet garage which comes with parking fees. If you are about that life, you can drive around and hope to find some street parking close by for free depending on what time of their day you arrive. We pregamed next door at Tom's Watch Bar, and arrived at the club 30 minutes prior to show time as stated on the ticket, but we still waited in the cold till past advertised door opening times. Security is tight here which isn't a big deal to me. Once inside, we were brought to our table. It's a pretty good size venue and they do seat everyone close to the stage. It wasn't small by any means, but it still had an intimate vibe to it. I personally am not a fan of sitting too close to the stage at comedy shows as to avoid being the target of the comedians, but we were in the second row and I did enjoy being that close up even though I did get some attention from the comics. It's all in fun and you should avoid comedy shows if this bothers you. The comics we saw were entertaining with different types of styles. It was a small crowd but we made sure to appreciate them with applause and laughter. They were even nice enough to take pics after the show. With our tickets, there was a two drink minimum. They have a full bar with prices ranging according to what you get. I opted for a couple of tall boy beers. The prices are pretty steep here no matter what you get. For me, I'm not a fan of drink minimums. I felt forced to drink. Yes I could've went non alcoholic, but I also refuse to pay for two canned waters or two sodas. They have a decent selection of food. I didn't partake, but one person in our party seemed to like his food. Overall, I feel I got what I came for as far as entertainment goes. I think adjusting the prices would get me back in here for an overall good experience. There's gotta be a great headliner for me to come back anytime soon.

On a Friday night, I checked out Punch Line with three friends. This new comedy club is located where the old House of Blues restaurant used to be. Since this is downtown we're talking about, street parking is always my go-to. If you're not about that life, there are a bunch of parking garages in the area, including one that's super close. Service (3/5): We pre-gamed at Tom's Watch Bar and made out way over when the event began. Despite doors opening 30 minutes prior (well, this is what was listed on our tickets), they were late. As a result, we waited in line for roughly 30 minutes in the cold before they started letting people in. The same performers played an earlier show so they must have been running late. Not the best as it was pretty chilly that night. After getting inside, the hostess brought us to our table. From there, the service experience improved and it was pretty standard and efficient from there on out. Ambiance (4.5/5): For a comedy club, Punch Line is great. It's a pretty intimate venue so you're going to be close to the action. We were three rows back and had a great view of the stage. The lights are dimly lit so that you can enjoy a comedy show as you should. Given that it's a smaller venue, I prefer it to others in town. Drinks (3/5): I was lucky enough to score comped tickets (with that being said, there was a two-drink minimum). Drink options were pretty much what I expected at a place like this. The downside is that the beverages are expensive. You're basically paying stadium prices. I did two beers (tall boys). Food (N/A): I didn't have any food during the show but one of my buddies did. He was impressed with the food and the menu looked interesting. I'll definitely try it out next time around. It's been a goal of mine to enjoy the performing arts more this year. And comedy shows are a great way to do it. Come out and support this new venue!

Service was good and fries were delicious! Bathrooms were also very clean! I think the only ehhh thing was parking and the 2 drink minimum

A new comedy club! Always a welcome sight - my partner and I went with friends to see Mekki Leeper. We really enjoy coming to live comedy shows, and couldn't pass up this opportunity. We went into the show knowing there was a two drink minimum - not my favorite requirement, but I can recognize the need for clubs to turn a profit as well as pay the talent. I do truly wish that Punch Line had a two item minimum instead (i.e. count food towards the minimum). This would be really considerate for those who would prefer not to spend $6 on water, but are willing to spend more money on the appetizers and food; this is what Improv Houston allows. The monetary gripe aside, the staff were attentive, and the food we ordered was tasty (nothing special mind you, but decent quality food at a comedy club is a new experience for me!). We ordered the hummus and a side of fries - both solid and generous servings. I do wish the servers came through looking for orders during the opener more often, and less often during the headliner, but I also recognize that ensuring everyone hits the two drink minimum in a short turnaround time is tough. The venue is clean, with a great vibe overall. I am definitely looking forward to coming back in the future!

ZERO STARS! 8 months ago my wife had a double lung transplant as a result we are keeping her immune system suppressed. This means that if I go out in public I have to wear a full respirator mask because I have a huge beard and regular masks don't work for me. I have to be able to go into crowds at concerts and comedy clubs and not worry about bringing something home that's going to kill my wife. I have been to the Houston Improv twice since having to wear the mask and they had no problem at all letting me in to attend shows. I paid for preferred seating to see Kyle Kinane at the Punchline and once I sat down, all the way at my table, one of the managers came and kicked me out. The manager was assisted by a bouncer who was wearing a k95 mask which covered more of his face than my respirator mask, which allowed you to see my full face through the plastic. I will now be lodging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and an Americans With Disabilities complaint to the state ABC Board.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!

It's located right at 19th St. and Shepherd near the light. There's a small angled parking lot that can be tight when people park along the fence. It looks like a cute tiny A-frame home with a few patio tables in the front. The inner area has about 6-7 high tables. It's nice and clean inside. The vibe feels similar to H-Town Brewing Co. but on a smaller scale. You can also sit at the bar. I didn't really like the high tables/chairs. They're not as comfortable. It was hot out, and there are mosquitos, so we sat inside. I ordered the salmon plate for steak night. The drinks here are ok, and since I don't really drink, I was looking for mocktail options. In this era, most places have mocktail options with brand alternatives like Ritual, Seedlip and Lyre's or at the least, something with juice, Topo Chico and simple syrup. The female bartender made me a NA margarita which was great. I liked that she didn't make it too sweet or too tart which happens with mocktails that don't have alternatives and are mostly juice or lemon. On the other hand, when I ordered a second, the guy bartender made it too sweet. I didn't like his version. For the alcoholic versions, they seem to have good cocktails, wine, beer and flights. They also have daily specials. Aside from the steak night, they don't serve food here. It wouldn't be my first choice of bars in this area.
