Pathetic excuse for customer service. It says to be there at least 30 minutes early before closing on your move in date, we showed up over an hour early and nobody was even there. The automated phone service does absolutely nothing for you. They will sure take your money online, but don't expect to be helped when you get there. Still waiting to find out if we can get into the space, that we've already paid for. My advice is take your business elsewhere because this place clearly doesn't care. read more

The physical grounds, buildings and layout are all fine. I've actually never dealt with any employees, as I rented on line and during the pandemic. So I can't comment on their service in person. But, I must strike some stars because as others have noted they have already raised my rates twice in less that two years. I rented a 10'x10' unit in November 2020 for $176.00 per/month. In May of last year, my rate increased to $215.00 per/month. Last month with no notice it was increased to $276.00 per/month. I have no idea if a physical letter was sent because I didn't realize my old address was still on the account. But, they have my email address and that would certainly make sense to send to as well. Especially if you are auto pay and not paying close attention until balancing your bank statements. So, in summation the unit that I originally agreed to at 176 has now increased by a full 100 dollars per/month in less than a year and a half (16 months to be exact). I feel like they are depending on people just accepting the increases because of the challenges in relocating a full unit. That won't work in my case, as I intend to empty the unit as soon as possible and terminate my rental. read more

I've had a storage unit here for going on 2 years. Rate started at $66 for a 5x5 unit. Shortly after that, price went up to $77, which wasn't that big of a deal. But in Feb of this year it went up to $99 and I just got another notice that it will be going up again in November to $120!!!! This is ridiculous. I reached out to them and they just said they can raise the rent whenever they want. I looked online and they have the same size until right now for $67. I will definitely be moving out of this unit and going somewhere else. Don't rent a unit here!!! read more

Our nonprofit rescue group secured a 10x20 storage rental here in July of 2017 and had absolutely no issue with this facility until March 16th and 17th, 2018. We specifically chose this facility for three reasons. One, they allowed facility access from 6 AM to 9 PM. Two, they were located close to one of our adoption venue stores. Three, they offered the unit at a really great price. We were good customers. Our monthly rent was always paid on time. We cleaned up after ourselves and, on occasion, even helped management with clean up for messes left that we weren't responsible for. However, a few months after we secured the unit, they changed the access hours from 6 AM to 9 PM to 9 AM to 6 PM. No bueno. The primary reason we chose this facility as opposed to other storage facilities were the access hours. Most of us work full time jobs. Not all of us who would need to access the unit live or work in the area - or even in the same county, for that matter. But it wasn't imperative we find a new facility immediately so we put it off because we liked the place and it suited our needs on the other two points. On Friday, March 16th, we had a food distribution of 4 pallets in Gardena. We rented a U-Haul to pick it up at 3:30 PM. We then transported to the storage facility in Tustin. We arrived well before 6 PM and were unloading. At 6 PM, the manager, Katherine, told us we had to leave. Our 3 members who were there at the unit forgot the hour change they'd made a few months back - and the sign posted out front still had the old access hours so they didn't realize they had overstayed beyond closing. The manager made it clear she was not happy we were still there. We were almost finished and begged another 15 minutes to get the last of the food into our unit, secure it and get ourselves off the premises. The manager grudgingly said okay and that she'd be back in 20 minutes to let us leave. She then left the facility and locked the front access gate. In 15 minutes, we were done - but locked in. We waited for the manager to return at the time she specified. She never returned. At 6:40, we called customer service. The rude and unhelpful service agent advised we leave through the walk through gate but leave our vehicles overnight and come back for them in the morning. Seriously? Our three members locked in live in Corona, San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore. So, one of our members broke the lock on the gate in order to get the vehicles through. The gate was then closed and the lock was returned to the gate and the facility was re-secured. However, doing this did screw up the code and it would require a re-set by the facility. The following morning, we received a "damages charge" for $250.00. While foster parents were there to pick up their food shares Saturday morning, the same manager approached us and said, from now on, members would need to park outside the storage facility, walk in and then walk out with whatever they were bringing to or taking away from the unit. She accused us of "conducting business" on their premises. We clarified we are an animal rescue group and our members are picking up their food shares. There was no transactional business being conducted. The exchange was extremely rude and unpleasant - and also witnessed by several people. I accept the fact that we were responsible for contributing to the situation by being there after 6 PM. I understand the possible frustration the manager felt because, since they changed the access hours, I'm sure this has happened numerous times and she was probably annoyed to have to deal with it - yet again. After all, she's off work at 6 PM and doesn't get paid extra when customers do this kind of thing - although we would have happily compensated her for those extra 15 minutes she had to wait on us. I also accept that all this could have been avoided entirely if we had opted to move out and find a storage unit with better hours that suited our needs back when the email notice went out that they were changing their access hours. However, in that time, they also could have also changed the sign on the front of the facility that reflected the correct access hours. As mentioned previously, the sign posted still indicates the access hours are from 6 AM to 9 PM. We have a membership of over 120 people. Everyone in our membership has been made aware of the experience and, as a result, Public Storage as a company and irrespective of location, has just lost potential customers as well as our patronage. We learned from other heads of rescue that they've experienced similar at their Public Storage facilities when they hadn't left before the closing time on the dot. Apparently this is just what Public Storage does to customers. We paid the $250 damages fee but also sent in our Move-Out notice and will never be using Public Storage again. read more

Terrible terrible terrible. We got out storage unit back in August 2021. Paying $367 a month for a medium size storage unit which already is pretty outrageous if you ask me. Suddenly February 2022 the monthly auto rent payment went thru for $477. We were so confused so I tried to call their front office... of course no one answered the phone for the entire day. I had to call their corporate office and finally got ahold of them. The women told me they raised their rates and sent us a letter (to our old address may I add) and told me there was nothing they could do. They charge month to month and can increase the rate whenever they want. I'm sorry but $110 increase is insanity to me for a place to hold your stuff. I can understand $10-$20 increase but $110!?!?! So to add insult to injury I called letting them know we were going to be moving out on April 1st and they said we'll just to let you know you're going to have to pay the full monthly payment since we bill on the first of the month so I have to pay the full $477 for 1 day.... Such a joke. Please be careful if you want to rent from this place!!! I would highly recommend finding somewhere else!!! read more

UPDATE: Wow this company has everything worked out for them! Now that I want to move out I have to pay a full months rent because they said it would be pro-rated (also the contact says the same thing) but "unfortunately I misunderstood." So there goes another 117$ dollars down the drain. Also, when I called to pay they told me my payment was magically 170$ now plus 20$ to pay over the phone. So I went online and what do you know? My payment due? 117$! So either the person I talked to over the phone was incompetent or trying to swindle some money out of me. Also I have spent a whole month trying to get a hold of the district manager and either the phone keeps ringing or goes to voice mail with no return call. When I did finally talk to corporate, they were extremely condescending and basically told me that they weren't willing to help me. So I have paid over 250$ when I was expecting to pay "1$ MOVE YOU IN!" There is another storage company on the same street that will move everything for you and treat you like a human being for the same price that public storage will swindle from you. read more

I went to a location to show the receipts to clear situation & I was rudely treated, Agents refuse to cooperate with me, they started calling other locations pretending to be supervisors & even they admitted they were confused & informed me they have no supervisors nor General Manager. I called and asked them about the raise in rent and it has only been less than 6 months. They said they cannot remove it. Amazing they don't want to keep customer especially during this time. Over the years I have always had a storage many different sizes and a few public storage locations but this one by far beats the rest . Gate hours are perfect and always a helping hand in office if u need assistance . From day one Manager Robert was very straight forward and professional . He was able to work with me on getting a unit the same day . I told him exactly how big my apartment was and what kind of contents and he knew what size would work and he was right . 3rd break in in the last few months. No lock on main door to smaller units so thief's come in at will and pop the hinges off. Frustrating to move everything because if a know problem. I know one break in should be enough to bring up cameras or main door lock. Bad move out policy and never cares about the customer. There is no pro-rating policy even if you move out the 1st day of the month - you will be charged for the full month. I was notified after few days after the beginning of the month of December when I tried to move out. I accepted it since it's their policy I wasn't aware of it. I notified them that I would move out at the end of the month. I kept unit until the last day Dec 31. Since it's new year eve and I didn't have a chance to remove the lock and I did it in the early morning of Jan 1, the new year's day. I got the notification on Jan 2 about the move-out and I thought it's cleared. After a couple of days I was charged for the full month of Jan. I called them and visited them and they insisted on charging me for the full month with a very cold tone. It's totally a bad experience with Public Storage. I was charged for almost two months for nothing due to the evil policy and not caring about the customers at all. read more

The location was very clean and the personnel knew what they were doing. If you have any other options I would advise going with a different company. They just raised their rents by 25%. I have a small storage unit so it went from 57 to 73. Their expenses did not go up so they are exploiting all the people who depend on this company and now will have the unfortunate decision to move all their belonging's. If that were not bad enough at my location, Cooks bay street in Lake Forrest (off Bake) the elevator on the 3 floor does not work going down. Unbelievable. All my Christmas decorations are on the 3rd floor but I have no way of actually using them. The elevator has been broken for over a week. No one will speak with me about this (the front desk person was polite and considerate but he cannot make any decisions, he did his best) but no one higher up will discuss this (I emailed them). It's clear they do not intent to fix the elevator but intend to collect even more money in rent. read more

This is a great facility and the management is top notch! But corporately, Public Storage is not pro-customer. They raise rates indiscriminately AND significantly. In two years my rate has increased by 76%! I pay on time every month and am a good customer. I reserved a unit online on Monday for the next Monday because I was going out of town, I hadn't even logged off when the "manager" called and started badgering me to come in that day to rent the unit I said I couldn't and then demanded to know when I could come in? I asked why I had to come in before Monday and was told I needed to complete the paperwork, I said I would TRY to come on Wednesday before I went out of town, but was unable to make it. Come the Monday I'm to move in, I call to confirm a time and a temporary person is there and states I have no reservation, she has the area manager call me and he was so rude and made no attempt to try to resolve the problem and lied to me about how the property manager called me to tell me they cancelled my resevervation. read more

Robert was great! I had movers on the clock, waiting to put my things in my storage locker. Robert quickly helped me rent a locker, so the movers could unload as soon as possible. He also reminded me to take a picture of the card with my locker number and gate code, in case I loose the card. Horrible experience with this place, highly recommend a safer place for your precious items. I had my kids 2 motorcycles stored here a Honda 70, and a Yamaha 90 both kids bikes. I return to my storage on day to find the unit had been broken unit and tunneled in from the unit next door. Apparently the public storage had repairs done to some units and had walls replaced. Either the workers or the thieves tunneled in form the unit on my right side and removed the wall while doing repairs and my kids motocross bikes are gone. Broken drywall all on the floor. Called the police for a report and the public storage could not even tell the police the name of the company that did the repairs. WTF? Today I returned to clean out my storage unit. Removed half of my items today that weren't stollen. The storage door broke, I went to tell the manager in the office. There response was, we will provide you a new storage unit on a different row. But you need to move all your stuff. Are your kidding me. This place is a joke. Oh yah I got to go home and explain to my 8 year old kids here motorcycles were stolen. And there insurance would not pay out for the bikes cause they weren't registered with the dmv. The value of the bikes is not worth registering two 50cc bikes every year. And we rode track. Don't bother with there insurance. They find any way out of paying for your stolen items. Horrible that public storages name is associated with these people. Sad!!!! read more
