Public Storage on Del Amo in Torrance was the closest, and we could not have asked for an easier process, reasonable rates immaculate property and helpful staff. We spent about 15 minutes in the office with the friendly and thoroughly professional Rebecca getting the account set up, another 15 unloading the car, and we were on our way. My rent increased 30% in November 2024 less than 1 year after the initial contract was signed. I spoke with a Customer Service Rep to dispute the rate hike, and she referred me to section 2.2 "Rental Terms May Change 30 Days' Notice". The section clearly states that the rate can change but I was not expecting the aggressive rate hike. I am now in the process of moving my items to a business that respects their clients and does not use misleading business practices. read more

our rent was increased 39%, yes...thirty-nine percent just after 6months while they were having 'Labor day' sale for 'new customers'. So 'old'/existing customers could either 'move out' or lose ur belongings for all they care. We can live with 5, or even price gouching 10% rent increase...but 39%???!!! Mind you, the current inflation rate is 3.2% and the urban cost-of-living index is 4.9%. Sure, they advertise $1 first month rent but the outrageous subsequent rent increase more than make up for the exorbitant profits they want to make! Run away. The end. read more

Public storage made it so easy! I have used other self storage units in the past with elevators and narrow hallways, but this set up is top notch. I signed up on line at the last minute and within hours I had access to my storage unit which was exactly as advertised. The lock was in the unit so I didn't have to be in contact with anyone, it was all done online. I did call the office to ask a quick question before i arrived and the staff member was very attentive and well informed In addition, the pricing is very competitive. I did look up rates for similar storage units, but they were a hassle to set up for around the same price. The location is also easy to get to. Truly a great experience all around. The units are great. However, they've increased by rent by 20% every year over the last 6 years. Great units, but know that you're rate with increase 20% annually. Also, the rental increases were more like 34% per year, but I called to complain and they dropped by rental by $100. So, Year 1 I'm paying $114 a month, year six my rent increased to $350 a month!! They dropped it to $250 a month after complaining. This is nothing short of robbery. read more

It doesn't matter what location you choose to review, the manager at my facility explained the rate hikes ($60+ every time) is done by their corporate office. I have some crazy physical challenges and moving sets me back months of physical pain. But it's about that time again since they continue to raise rents. They wouldn't even negotiate a lower hike! Service was fine up until move-out, when figuring out the billing became a long and confusing process. I called the property manager Rebecca ~2x but was told different things each time, which I understand can be a result of having many different accounts and customers to juggle. At some point I also felt being talked down to, and as though I was viewed as an adversary rather than someone politely trying to recover a simple overcharge. Rebecca said she will call me back, but never did. I then called the general customer service number and spoke with a representative T, who agreed with one of Rebecca's earlier statements that I was overcharged, and said she will speak with a manager and follow up. She said if I don't hear back in a few days, I should call and follow up. I never heard back from Public Storage, so I called back trying to ask for that representative. But I was only able to speak with the representative, B, who took the call. She also was unable to correct the error, and said she'll have the property manager reach out to the district manager. I'm very disappointed that a big chain establishment has such a confusing and unhelpful billing process. Initially I chose Public Storage because the staff seemed very cordial and helpful at sign up. Clearly they can do better. For those interested: Basically I used a 5 x 10 unit for 2 weeks and then transferred to a 10 x 10 for 1 week. My total cost should've been the cost of the 10 x 10 for 1 month, but I was still overcharged at the time of this post. read more

I just wanted to leave a review to express my gratitude for how accommodating she was to our needs, I feel like she went above, and beyond to make sure that we had a good experience with our storage units. After a tough time, I paid professional movers to professional pack all my things and I put all I owned in the public storage at 4460 Del Amo Blvd in December 2021. I headed out of the country and traveling for a year. I got to Jamaica in January and a week in, I get a call from this facility saying my unit had been flooded and I had to come get my items immediately. Upon saying I was out of the country, they still insisted, due to mold, that I find someone to go through my things. I was forced to end my trip early, lost money on the vacation, paid more money for flights and a hotel to fly back to LA and go through my things. Most of my things were ruined. PLUS they still charged for storage that month! In a bind and not wanting to spend even more money or moving again, the supervisor talked me into leaving the remainder of my things in the storage--sure that it would not flood again because THEY DRAINED THE DRAINS! She basically admitted that my belongings were flooded because of THEIR NEGLIGENCE! Again, in a bind, I leave my things. Two months later--they raised the rent! I called the company to complain about how they had flooded my unit and now only half my belongings were in the storage so it wasn't fair to raise the rent--NO ONE GOT BACK TO ME. But I was out of town as I had planned to be--so I couldn't come back yet again to take my things out. I was stuck paying mjore rent until I finally returned to LA and was able to move my things out--but not before they tried to charge me because I was moving my things out on the 1st instead of the month before. I had to call several people in the company, tell them my story, and then finally--a manager removed the extra month of rent I would've had to pay. Overall, I would never rent from this place again. They have ONE job: To keep people's belongings safe. They were completely negligent with the drains and I was the one that paid the price. They don't care about their customers or their belongings. And you pretty much sign your rights away when you go into contract with them. This company has MILLIONS of dollars that customers have paid them over the years--but they don't care about any of us. Yes, I had insurance but even that was a pain. You have to itemize all your belongings, sending pictures and costs and the max you can get back is 5000. Plus, entering each item took me over 8 hours. Super easy to rent a unit online without any face to face interaction. Unit number and gate code sent via electronic message. Lock was inside unit. Only drawback being you can not use your own lock so forced to pay for their lock. Also liked that you can open the gates w your phone using the public storage app read more

UPDATE: There are better storage facilities that do not charge excessive fees for moving out. It's not like a residence where paint or carpet has to be applied. They can rent out the unit within hours and get the same amount of money. While I miss the layout, the trouble linked to accessing my space isn't worth it. *** Not my favorite storage facility but not the worst. I like the layout and entry/exit is easier than the Lomita location. However, staff availability and communication leave a lot to be desired. Last month, a rep that reminded me about late payment spoke so fast I couldn't understand what they were talking about. They also placed a coded lock on the room where my unit is housed. I needed to do a drop off one morning and imagine my surprise when I had to wait for a rep to appear. Instead of an apology, they complained about being overworked. I used public storage on Del Amo with drive-in option. I love this place. It's very nice and clean, the stuff is amazing! I believe the lady who was helping me is named Shay - she's a sweetheart and beyond helpful! The reason I took one star away is the cost - 9x5 unit cost me $250/mo in 2019-2020. I believe it is quite pricey. I guess you have to pay extra for the convenience of being able to drive in. Other than that, this storage place is great! read more

If I can only rate this place without a star I would. First the front desk are all unfriendly. They are only nice when you open an account after that the friendly vibes are gone to the trash. Speaking of trash they want your unit clean but their trash bins are locked and you cant even throw anything not even a banana peel. I have rented from Public Storage many times over the years. This was by far the worst experience ever. The rude rep/manager would not pick up the phone from speakerphone when I called (even after expressing 3 times that I couldn't understand her), she was not helpful when there was a problem, and her goal was just to leave for the evening....she was the worst!!! The units are crazy expensive, you must buy their $20 lock +++.5x10 unit was $249 for the month. No thank you. I called the corporate office to complain. I'm very upset with this storage place. First, they just raised my monthly rent by 30%!!! Who does that? I went from $333 per month to $435 per month. That's $1,200 more per year! So I ask them for a lower increase on January 4th and here we are 2 weeks later and not even a response. I need to know if they are going to lower the increase or I have to move out, but now I have less time to move out. The 2nd thing I don't like about this place is the ceiling is made out of a very thin mesh. Someone months ago pulled this mesh back and jumped into my unit and took stuff. I filed a claim with the insurance I pay $11 a month for and received almost no money at all. They said I needed receipts for everything stolen, but I don't have receipts for things that are that old. Very frustrating!! Stay away from this place!!!!! read more

I was in a position where I had to rent a large 10 x 20 storage space for over a year. Shortly after renting it the rate increased by 10%. Within a year, the rent increased again, but now it was 45% higher than when I started renting. Adding salt to the wound, I found I could rent the same space for less than they said my next months rent would be. Shameful behavior. read more

BEWARE!!!! Burglary and no insurance protection! We needed to store items here for two years when we downsized from a house to a 2 bedroom apt. For 1 year, 10 months, everything was fine. Until our unit was burglarized by a neighboring unit. Yenny and her Manager were quick to respond, we got a police officer to come to the unit as well and THEN we put in a claim to the Public Storage Insurance Company (Handled by Sedgwick Claims Management). $800 claim = approx $280 (including $100 deductible) We were told our property depreciated! WTF! Just so everyone knows, the burglary took place in early Aug, we were finally able to find a place big enough where we didn't need the storage unit (THANK GOODNESS!) and the unit was still not properly fixed. See pictures. Note: Yenny asked if I would leave my key with the front desk so they could get a contractor in to fix - I told them I wanted to be there when they did it. Listen the office staff was friendly and very informative and I'd give him 5 stars, but I have a problem with the corporate people! You would think that because of the worlds covid-19 pandemic they would be just a little understanding regarding giving a late fee?! One day late and they said it's been denied to reverse a 1st time late fee? What kind of company has such little compassion. The same day I noticed it was late, 3 times the amount of storage fees were paid and then a couple hours later I get a lien notice! A death in family led us to get this storage in the first place. Not used to paying this bill and I guess we neglected to set up the auto pay. I can't stand businesses that do this crap and have zero compassion or understanding. This type of business is a cash cow and I find it hard to believe that they can't let a customer have an ooops moment and cut them a break at least once! My experience with public storage and the Del Amo location has not at all been positive. As I'm reading other reviews I've had similar experiences with extreme rate hikes. When I started renting back last March I was paying $227 a month for a 10x10 and within a few months the rate increased $100 a month to $327 a month. Yet when I go online the lower rate is available. I've called customer service and the location manager to try to get a rate adjustment and they have informed me that they have in the contract that they can raise the rate at any time apparent. Apparently the rate they advertise online is just to get you to move in and then they quickly raise the rate. Additionally they charge a $50 a month late fee which a very large percentage of the monthly rate. This place is a total rip off and they're taking advantage of people moving into storage and not wanting to have to move it again! Additionally the customer service is poor and they don't return phone calls! Don't rent from here unless you want to be overcharged. read more
