I began renting an outdoor unit with Public Storage on Warner in Tempe in 2022 at $219.95 per month. Since then, the company has repeatedly applied "market rate" increases, and my monthly rate has now climbed to $452.00 for the same outdoor unit at an older facility. I have called multiple times requesting a rate adjustment. Each time I was told increases are based on market conditions, yet the increases continue. What makes this even more difficult to understand is that I currently rent a larger, newer, climate-controlled indoor unit nearby for $275 per month. It is hard to justify paying significantly more for an older, outdoor space. The pricing structure feels inconsistent and excessive. Long-term customers should not be penalized with continual increases that far exceed comparable local options. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company. read more

Dont see what the point of advertising new customers for a specific rate and then increasing it once they are in the door. Used to be able to access at anytime which is convenient for those with specialized schedules, now you have to pay to access 24/7 on top of an already increasing rate. read more

At first this location was prime until my unit was broken into and the contents removed. This is all we had left from my mother's separation and our new beginnings for our new house. I went there to get our Christmas decorations to find a lock on my unit which I did not have a key in December. Apparently in November there was an attempt to call to let me know my unit did not have a lock, no one followed through no emails or calls to my alternate phone number. Me and my mother are devastated by the amount of our possessions that was taken and the carefree attitudes of the staff. A total of 4 weeks past before during the time of entry and me finding out by going there. A lot of the decorations and antique dolls my mom had all my life I'm 52 years old AND my sneakers amongst a lot of other things that are worth more than what is willing to be reimbursed. NEVER AGAIN WILL BE A PATRON OF PUBLIC STORAGE A PLACE TO STORE YOUR BELONGINGS PAY FAITHFULLY AND STILL GET STUCK UP. read more

Erica the site manager needs to take a course in customer service. I was blindsided by a $63 "late payment" charge and she did not adequately explain the date in which this would go into effect. She claimed she would escalate this claim to her district manager (doubtful she actually did ) which of course was promptly denied. I am extremely disappointed in the poor service she provided and her unwillingness to follow up with me when this late charge was coming up. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Overall, the service from the local personnel is satisfactory. I have had my unit for ~20+ years (they changed hands once). On average the rate was ~400/month (400 x12 x 20 = $96,000) for a small garage. I think most are aware that these businesses are extremely profitable. No gripe with making money but....! I cleared out of the space on 10/31/2022. I asked the attendant to check the unit showing that I had vacated. In reviewing my bank statements, on Nov 3, I was auto charged my monthly fee. No problem. Clearly a mistake, right? When I arrived at their office I asked for the confirmation statement of the date that I had vacated. (It was to have been emailed and I didn't ever receive it. The attendant stated that they had no email on file. It seemed to have disappeared after 20yrs??). He printed it out and I noted that the date recorded for when I had vacated was mysteriously Nov 7. That certainly would explain the billing. So, he and I exchanged words and I thought I must have been mistaken. I left the facility confused. But, upon reviewing my phone travel app I saw that I was indeed at Public Storage, in and out several times on 10/31. I had moving assistants who billing me for that date, also. I wasn't crazy. I subsequently returned and presented this. He was apologetic but said he was not able to initiate any refund. I would need to deal with customer service. I called them today. The need the "last 4 of my drivers license" for security purposes to talk to me. When I have them the numbers they said that it's was wrong and the can't talk to me. The same license that I have been presenting them for 20 yrs is now wrong? This is an absolute debacle. (Still in progress.) Also, they do not prorate the lease of the space. Two months is charged if you were there 32 days. I hope I remember to follow up on how this turns out. read more

I held off writing this review because it was only a small inconvenience to me, but that could be something major for someone else. 1. Two price increases in one year. Leaving because it will be over 40% more than original price. 2. Recieved a unit that wasn't square. It tapered in like a triangle. Harder to store items if you really need to use all the space. 3. Lights weren't working in my building for most of the year. So even with daylight I had to use a flashlight in the hallway & my unit was completely dark. Annoying when carrying items and trying to unlock locks 4. You can see a couple small spots of sunlight through the roof. So water can get into units. So be careful what/how you store things Online process was quick and easy. I got a good rate to start. So it can be good for short term, but they will raise the rates very quickly. So if you have a big full unit that can be a big issue money and time wise. Luckily I was only storing a few smaller items so its not an issue to clear my stuff out and leave. We decided to reserve a unit at the Public Storage online. You can reserve the unit, have it held and complete the transaction on the date you indicated you would need. Easy,right? Well, that part of it worked fine for me especially because office hours were 9 - 5 and we knew we'd be there during that time period. However, within the next day or two I received numerous phone calls. The first call was a nice message with a welcome and indicating if I had any questions to call. I had no questions so didn't call. Starting the next day I received about 8 or 9 calls. They arrived while I was driving, while I was driving again, when I was at the checkout line, etc. You get the picture. By this time I felt I was being harassed. All the phone calls were followed by an email indicating I had to call them back if I wanted to keep the reservation. Evidently you're required to make an appointment if you want to rent one of their units. I didn't want an appointment because we weren't sure of the time. Besides office hours were listed and we knew we'd be there during that time period. Well, according to the manager it seems they aren't always in the office. She was extremely insistent that an appointment be made because she might step out of the office. Friendly? Absolutely not. Pushy? Definitely. Arriving in Tempe as planned, I really wasn't up to another confrontation with the manager so I went online and canceled the appointment. Then, found another rental unit of the same size with the same rate. They didn't require an appointment and I didn't get hassled. So, was Public Storage through with me? No. I ended up with an email from them filled with question makes and weird characters. I have no idea what it said but was sure it had something to do with the cancellation of the unit. We've rented numerous storage units in the past and never had this issue. There are just too many in competition with each other to endure poor customer service. read more

They put me in a corner spot that people use to park in, so accessing my actual unit is a pain. Also, the door is all messed up- I have to jimmy the door open every time I need something from the unit. I was able to forgive these blunders for the last 4 months since I have rented. I can't however forgive the almost $100 price increase that also was failed to be communicated. I've rented this unit for 4 months.... And it increased by that much. I have been trying to make my payment online for 2 weeks. I have set it, properly manager has reset it, but I still have no access because it will read credentials expired as soon I get them. So now I'm getting late fees and had to pay over the phone which cost another $10. They said I can go to another public storage to make a payment, but I work a lot and that a hassle anyways!!! I tried talking to Jennifer who can't make assist with anything but numbers and attempting to reset my account. Christina the regional can only submit a request for help with customer service and credit my account next month for $10. There is no direct line to get help with the tech side!!!!! She followed up with me, was extremely personable, and did everything she could to meet my needs (price, location, and size), and she made sure to thoroughly go through the policies and documentations, as well as the whole process itself of storing and their security. I found this storage unit online and seen they had a promotion going for new customer's were it was only $1 for the 1st month of service. I thought that was pretty dope so reserved a 5x15 unit for $103 monthly and officially moved into my unit on 09/19/21. This property is also MONTH-TO MONTH so my 1st month at the $1 rate would have taking me through 10/19/21. Once I arrived at the location I was greeted by one of the agents who seemed more to be watching me in a weird way oppose to waiting to greet me with a warm welcome. Anyways, I was greeted with "both of the big doors you can drive through were not operational currently, but their hoping to have them both working in a week or so 10.02.21 I went to go get food for my kids and once I gave my debit card to pay for the food my card declined and I had no idea why. Logged into my online banking and seen I had a pending charge from Public Storage. Even though I paid for $1 for the first month which should have taken me through 10/19/21 public storage charged me for the remaining dates 10.19-10.31 and I think that is BS! For one, why are you charging my card when you have no idea if I even want to stay and continue to do business with your company! Their plans is all MONTH-TO-MONTH so my 1st month was only $1 right, my 1st month would have ended on 10.19.2021 (technically 10.20.21) but by them charging my card on 10.02.21 they automatically put me into a 2nd month of service and personally I feel like that's how their getting over on people. How you say $1 for first month but during the 1st month your already charging folks for their 2nd month smh and the AC doesn't even feel like it works should have just got an outside unit if the temperatures were going to be in competition with each other. I guess someone no longer wanted this big dusty ass piece of furniture anymore so they just left it in the elevator which took up most of the space. I left the complex on 3 different occasions for no more than 4hours each time and each time I returned that piece was still standing in the elevator needless to say....I'll be moving out!! I made a reservation on-line and then was promply calleed for an appointment. Made the appointment same day at 12:30pm. I arrived a couple of minutes early. At the same time another lady had arrived in the parking lot before me. I entered the office with my two toddlers in tow and waited to be seen. I was asked to wait outside the building while the property manager showed the lady that walked into the office seconds before me the space she was going to rent. So I did. All the while I thought, I am here at my appointed time and I am being asked to wait. The lady that walked in ahead of me had an appointment before me but was LATE. What the property manager should have done was ask her to wait instead of me, since I was the person ON-TIME for her appointment. So I waited and stewed inside my vehicle for 15 minutes. I decided to leave the property and left a voice message stating I would have to reschedule. The property manager called and appologised stating that the previous appointment "ran late". When the fact is that she took the lady that was late for her appointment in my appointment slot. This angered me. I decided to cancel my rescheduled appointment with PS on Warner Rd and made a new one at Public Storage on Chandler Blvd. Such lack of respect for people's time (especially a mom toting around toddlers) was a huge miss. read more

The facilities were clean and easy to access. We got a storage unit to prepare to put our house on the market. It was so nice to be able to pop in whenever to put stuff into storage. Heather was very helpful and pleasant. It was very easy getting a storage unit and closing out our contract. I was concerned with the $1 first month that it'd be impossible to close out the contract when we didn't need it (like a gym membership) but it took less than 5 minutes. They also had great moving boxes. We bought a special one for our flat screen TV and I was awesome. All the padding and protection you expect with the original TV box.
