WARNING: Rodents, Damaged Property & Missing Items I normally do not leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about my experience at this Public Storage location in Suwanee on McGinnis Ferry. I rented both an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, and unfortunately both were affected by what appears to be a serious rodent problem. When I went to check my belongings, I discovered that rodents had chewed through and damaged multiple items stored inside the unit. This is incredibly frustrating because the whole purpose of renting a storage unit is to protect your belongings, not have them destroyed. Even more concerning, I noticed some items were missing from my units. I cannot say exactly what happened, but discovering missing property raised major concerns for me about the security of the facility. My experience with management was also disappointing. When you're dealing with damaged and missing belongings, you hope the situation will be handled with care and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Yes, I had insurance on the unit and will be filing claims, but insurance doesn't replace the stress, time, and sentimental value of what was lost or damaged. I'm leaving this review to help others make an informed decision before storing their belongings here. Things I recommend if you consider this location: * Inspect the unit carefully before renting * Ask about pest control and security measures * Avoid storing valuables or sentimental items Personally, after this experience, I would not rent from this location again read more

I have had storage here for the past year or so, and it never fails every time I come up the manager or whoever is working is never there and always on break, they also stated that since I got the smallest unit it would only be $65 per month, after about seven months and they changed it to $88 a month without telling me so they have no record that I verified it would be OK because I could honestly just go anywhere else, unfortunately for me this place was very convenient for work but now that I moved I got to look at other storage units and public storage is not the one for me. I am currently waiting outside in the cold pass the time that it said someone would be here very disappointed and I hope I never have to do business here again. Staff friendly and helpful. I rented online and was confused about where to go and the office staff were very helpful. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is once you drive through the gate I was kind of confused about where to go and how to get in, but that's more on me than them because they did send pretty good instructions. I would recommend Public Storage for the ease in the process of renting, especially doing it online and where it's located is very convenient. Easy to see and once you figure out how to get in is just what I needed. I rented a 5 x 10 which at first sounded to me way bigger than what I needed but actually it isn't that big. It was almost the same price as the little one that is a little smaller and I'll be putting more things in it later, but we rented it because of my mothers move from one wing of a senior living facility to another smaller apartment in the same building but there's plenty of space for me to put things in as well I'm glad we rented there My experience with them has been only about a week, but so far so good! read more

Second year I have rented a storage unit at this location and Joanne is remarkable! In a world where I keep asking myself how to make people care, she sure seems to. From a pleasant smile and enthusiastic demeanor upon arrival to a checklist of things to remember upon departure with enjoyable conversation in between, she makes renting a storage unit a pleasurable experience. Public Storage loves to increase rates for no apparent reason. Staff can early be found on site. My rate has gone up 100% in two years. I am moving out to a facility at 1/3 the cost for the same type unit. Beware of this companies hype. read more

I have many reasons NOT to rent with Public Storage. 1) The biggest reason: I moved out on 6/2, and was to be billed on 6/3, as we were billed every month on the 3rd. However, they are charging me for the entire month of June, and will not budge on this. OK, since I have to pay the bill for June, I am going back to my unit and placing my lock back on the unit for the month of June. It's technically still my unit since I am paying for the month. They'd better not rent it to someone else - that's double booking, and fraud. 2) In one year, our rates went up 2-3 times, up by $50 per month! Beware of frequent price hikes if you do decide to rent. 3) There was never anyone at the location we rented at. If you had any gate or building access issues, tough luck. They weren't there, and the operating manger would not answer a phone call or a voicemail. Be ready for constant frustration at the lack of help from the facility if you are still set on renting after reading this. In summary, Public Storage is evil. Renter, beware. read more

He was courteous, willing to listen and cared about the outcome of making a customer at the end of the day satisfied. Being in a customer service driven industry, I am very pleased with how this situation was handled at a corporate level... local/store level, not so much but Collin and Shaun made it right and I am appreciative. read more

No one is ever available onsite. Door code to get into our unit does not work but there seems to be one set of doors at the back always unlocked. we had the unit for 4-5 years, slowly getting stuff relocated. started at 98 a month, last year and half jumped from 127 to 158 for a listed 10x10 which actually was only a 9x9. so figure we lost a tenth or 200-250 cubic foot. finding managers on duty was limited, but may have been timing. building security door 9/10 times un-secured. half the time no building cart, so always brough our own. signs of rodents, we had a lot of stuff chewed until they hit some old bottled meds that likely killed them. read more

After few months of moving my items to this location the price of my unit was significantly increased. I explained to Kim the property manager that I was currently unemployed due to Covid. I requested could you please reduce my rate back to the original amount. I was told to move my items to another storage unit. I explained to corporate I was unemployed so I could not hire someone to move my items to another unit with a lower cost. Public storage uses lower rates to get new customer but after a few months your rate will go up. Do not rent from them. read more

Vanisha, the facility manager, made everything easy. Great service each time I visited. She was there when the movers came and immediately stepped in to direct them where to go. She had them park in a spot where they didn't need to use the elevator for ground level unit. Kudos to V for a job well done. read more

Guy on 877 # nice and helpful...but when I got here and saw the size of the unit and knew I would need a larger one, I asked about the price difference meaning overall. The guy showing me the unit said it would be $25 more a month. What he didn't tell me was that the $1 for the first month promotion wouldn't apply to the larger unit...so we wasted 20 minutes filling out what we needed to for the larger unit just for me to have to settle for the smaller one. Would just be nice to have all the details up front. Other than that nice people and nice clean space. read more

Had a unit there for 3 years. When I first moved in there was a drop down gate to drive through, then a security pad at the door of the building I went into, then a lock on my specific unit. After I moved in, I discovered the security pad to all the doors to building #3 was not working. I told the staff SEVERAL times about this and nothing was done. I got the run-around every time. It was "Oh you can call the district manager but he won't do anything about it." Then it was "We're getting a whole new security system with all compatible systems at the gate and everywhere else." So I return, yes they got a new drop down gate system, but the doors to the buildings still don't have any security. One time I saw an employee try to use the door pad and I told her "You know that doesn't work, right? You can just turn the handle to the door and enter." She said she would take care of it, and nothing happened. I feel uneasy about this security flaw so I'm moving my stuff out there and going elsewhere. read more

I applied for unit online with contact-free move in. The info to access my unit did not give directions on how to locate unit in building. I had to call the toll free number and get transferred to an on-site rep to help me. Then I noticed a small bag of rat poison in the back of my unit. I placed the two items I had with me in the unit and decided to try it before moving everything in. When I was leaving I noticed the building door didn't fully close so I pulled it tight to close it. Then I couldn't get out of the parking area because app gate code access didn't work and I had to call toll-free number again to have them open gate. I found a more convenient storage location closer to home and decided to cancel this one. When I went to retrieve my items, the building door was not fully shut and opened without needing the code. I attempted to stop by office to move out/report open door and despite the hours being posted as open until 6:00, the office was locked before 5:00 and no one was inside, so I left and did move out on app. I expected more from a place with rental rates at this amount. read more

What a GREAT experience my wife and I had while visiting this location. We were not sure what size we need, based on the number of items and rooms we were storing. Danielle, was able to use our details, time needs etc., to recommend a perfect size unit for us. The unit was large enough to hold all of our assets, some of which are very important to us, as they are family heirlooms. After our belongings were safely tucked away, we walked away feeling very comfortable that we made a terrific decision. Now, we can start the next part of our journey. read more

Just moved my things out last weekend, but I stored furniture and things here for 2 years and never had a problem.Danielle in the office was always professional and personable, and there was no hassle switching units one time, moving out, etc. The facility was always clean, no weird smells, and I felt my things were safe there. The gate was never broken (at least in my experience), the doors are coded, and the locks they make you get now are more secure than the one I initially used. Don't know if all PS places are this good, but they set the bar high. read more

This is the cream of the crop when it comes to storage! My valuables are behind three layers of security. The main gate and the door to the building require different codes for access, and a heavy lock (purchased from Public Storage-they don't permit locks other than their own) secures the sliding door to my 10' x 15' locker. The facility is clean and neat as a pin. Additional interior lighting is motion-activated as you walk in the corridors. A TV monitor in the office shows that security cameras cover every angle within the facility. I presume the video is recorded for an extra layer of security. The staff is friendly, courteous and professional, and the price is fair. You can probably find a cheaper facility, but I'd rather have my valuables in a place where I know they're safe. I highly recommend this Public Storage facility. I do find their packing and moving supplies, such as boxes, to be quite pricey, so you'll do well to purchase them elsewhere, such as Lowe's or Home Depot. If you set up monthly automatic payments, your experience will be totally hassle-free and it's one less issue you have to deal with every month. read more

I have had the awesome pleasure of working with Danielle for exactly 5 years. Danielle is an excellent Property Manager. Danielle is an "ole-school" customer service skilled agent, who is very friendly, attentive to detail and ensures that she answers all of your questions (even if you ask the same question several times). Danielle demonstrates patience, with great listening skills, and she shows that she is delighted to be of service. Danielle does not have any control over the pricing business model, which I do not fault her, but what she does have control over, she makes sure that it is done CORRECTLY, PROPERLY and ON TIME! Danielle goes above and beyond servicing a customer with delight. It has been a great pleasure storing my items at the McGinnis Ferry location. I was very surprised at how clean the facility is. When I first walked in to get information on the units, Danielle was very friendly and a true professional. Her friendliness made me feel comfortable and at ease. She walked me through the details of renting a unit. She was very patient to explain whatever I did not understand.
