I rented a unit here for a year, Feb 2018 to Feb 2019. Three months in, they raised the rent by 30%. I called Donna, the manager, left messages to discuss, she never returned my calls. She finally answered the call and said there was nothing she could do. I took the pics throughout the year showing renters leaving their belongings spilling out of the units with no renter in sight. Each time I called Donna to discuss, she NEVER returned my calls. Litter was a constant problem. For the amount they charge, they should have a clean environment and renters should keep their stuff IN the units. Clearly it is poorly managed, I am so glad that I never have to go there again. The one star is because they require a rating to post, it deserves no stars. read more

I rented from this facility for almost 9 months while living in Roswell. It is very secure, well lit and I had a climate controlled unit in a secure hallway that was easily accessible. Due to my job, I am at my storage unit often, sometimes multiple times a week and I was never nervous going there by myself. The gate was often broken (it happens from time to time) and once I actually got locked inside the unit, couldn't get in touch with the site manager at all (it was a Sunday night) and had to call the police to pry open the door for me. She ended up calling me once she found out what happened to check on me and apologize, and they gave me a free month's rent without me having to ask! I ended up moving and my current unit got broken into and I got robbed. If I wasn't in my unit so often I would just move all my stuff back up here, I miss this place so much! read more

Then we came squealing in to the new facility 20 minutes before closing and Chandra stayed late to make sure we got set up. She even gave us recommendations as we are new to the area. Rented a large (10x15) unit about a month ago. This is a large unit, with sliding doors in the front and back. Went there last weekend, needed to get to the back of the unit. I was told that the existing lock would not open, that I had to buy a new lock (from them of course) for the back door. OK, I did that; then the on-duty person went with me to get in the back door. She took the existing lock off, but the door would not open - something inside stopped it at about 2 feet off the ground. Now I have to go back and remove all the stuff to get to things at the back. The lock fee was refunded (although the refund has not shown up on my card statement), and told me that back doors seldom work! So watch out - Check both doors if you rent a large unit! And make them test the door first before buying a lock read more

The service level I have experienced at this Public Storage has been amazing. I signed up online and within minutes received a confirmation call from Andreas. Our phone call was quick and efficient and not lengthy like some other calls can be from reps. Once I arrived at the location to fill out my lease on the unit, Andreas was very polite, very outgoing, showed me around, made sure I was pleased with the unit I had picked, and made sure I didn't have any questions. I have rented here for several years and feel that my business is not appreciated. I had to downsize for awhile while taking care of a sick mother. I don't always pay on time however , I do pay my bill every month along with the late charges. This place is just a money pit, I was overcharged when I closed one of my units, had paid my bill in full to only be sent another bill saying that I still owed money when I paid it in full. When I contacted the Manager, she was little to no help.Calling corporate does not help because to me she is a joke as well. I feel that Drea has a very bad and condescending attitude and always seem to have her feelings on her shoulders. Hopefully soon I will be able to get my things out of storage with them and will never rent with them again nor recommend anyone else to them. I spend too much money over the years to be treated the way I have been and feel that Public Storage (Corporate, The Mangers, Supervisors) hire people to do what they do not want to deal with and hide behind their employees when problems arise. The service did start off awesome however later has not been so good on all levels. The $1 storage price is a joke! You will have to buy a lock from them at almost $20 along with insurance for your things.When you don't pay on time,they do cut off your lock and you will have to buy another one each and every time. Needed a storage shed. Where was a no brainer - just wanted the closest one. But pleasantly surprised with the level of courtesy and consideration of 2 employees that I met on separate occasions - Josh and Drayec. It is a drag going back and forth to a storage shed but both times I left smiling because of their professionalism and personalities. It's a drag thinking you will get a storage shed first month for $1 but with all the added fees and mandatory lock and key, etc, it dosen't feel like a bargain. I rented on a special in June of 2018. The light above my upstairs climate controlled unit is broken. Also the light in the hall leading to my unit. I cannot see to utilize my unit or use my key. I asked the day I rented and another 4 times to have the lights fixed and always was told it was on the list to fix. My auto payment increased after 5 payments and was $37.00 higher on the 6th month. If you move in on any special, they can increase your rental as they wish. You are signing papers that say they can do this anytime they want.They have not fixed the light at all in 8 months and I tried to get at least a small reduction in the increase to the going rates, but no satisfaction....I wonder if my rate will increase again now that I post this review. I planned a certain amount for storage and now have not got a deal at all anymore so think hard before you take a special rate from these guys. There is no negotiation and no sympathy. read more

I would like to give a word of warning to any that are considering renting storage space from Public Storage. As a company, they will likely try to draw you in to renting with them using some offer that seems pretty reasonable at the start. Then, every 6 months to a year down the line, they'll bump up the rate, citing market rate as the reason. I will note that their idea of market rate is not based on the competition in the area, but on what they feel like they can get away with charging. Public Storage claims to give 30 days written notice of increases of the charge and any fees, but I have only ever received notification by email very shortly before that increased charge was due. On top of this, if you do not pay the increased amount by the 6th of the month, they will lock you out of the area where your items are stored until you are up to current, including any increases to charges or late fees that they have made in this manner. In short, you have lost access to any of your items past this point unless you pay their increased charges. I first started storing items in a 10' x 15' unit with Public Storage in February 2009, with an initial rate of $96.90 from their advertising. What their advertising did not mention is that the $96.90 was listed in their system as a discounted rate, but with a higher rate already in their system. Since this time, I have had my rates increased progressively over the years I've been with them to a current rate of $161.00 per month, and a late fee that increased from the one listed in the contract of $20.40 to the current late fee of $32.20. The only notification of increases I've ever received from them on the increases to rental rate have been by email, and no notifications of an increase to the late fees until they've come up. It is possible that this lack of notifications is because of some break in their system. Perhaps there is a flaw that doesn't update the mail address for notifications, even if you update it in their system. If so, this is still a problem. I've called a few times on their corporate line just to make sure my information was current. It is, but this has made no difference in receiving any sort of notifications. To give you a better idea of just how much of an increase this is, I have had my rates on the rental go up by over 66 percent since 2009. This is 66 percent increase over 5 years. The late fees have apparently also increased since 2009, though in this case, the increase is a little over 58 percent. All told, I'm paying two thirds more than when I started this thing, all because Public Storage felt they could get away with charging it. When I checked other companies in the same area, the rate for the same size storage unit is currently between about $90.00 to $130.00. None of them came close to what Public Storage claims is market rate. Public Storage claims that market rate is somewhere around $178.00 in that area, even though they list a lower rate for new customers. Public Storage figures they can increase the rate each year, as they figure most people will just pay the extra rather than dealing with the hassle of moving their stuff back out. And for those that can't pay the increases, well, Public Storage has some hefty lien handling and sale fees that they add on as well, taking those and the additional rent and late fees they'll also charge on the items that can't be recovered until they get paid. Those fees come out of the proceeds they get by selling whatever is in that storage unit. If for some reason the sale doesn't make their total of fees, Public Storage will still charge you the additional amounts, too. What this means: If you are late in paying, and you are unable to catch back up, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ITEMS, and you will be charged more for the privilege of letting them sell off the contents of your storage unit for them to collect on those inflated fees. Short form of this, stay well away from Public Storage. They are a greedy company out to gouge you for as much money as they feel they can get out of you, with a particular target painted on long term customers. If you've been with Public Storage for years, they figure you will pay whatever they insist is the rate rather than moving. If you must use a storage place, do not use Public Storage. Stay far clear of this company for your own good. Tell your friends to stay away. Tell companies to stay away. Share this message on social media, in your email lists, on your corporate newsletter. Let Public Storage know that they can not treat customers like this in the only way that they will listen to, by reducing their profits. Take away their paycheck, because they certainly haven't earned it. Don't rent with them. If you are already renting with them, find a way to stop using storage, or go to another storage company. It will be worth it. Stay with them, and you'll find yourself wondering why you didn't listen. read more
