This is my second rental with Public storage and I have had great experiences with them. I am in a climate controlled indoor unit and am very happy. The website is very efficient and I've been able to handle all rental needs online. If I could give some constructive feedback: the on site kiosk did not work when I moved out of my first unit. I had questions and no one responded. If a person is not going to be on site it's helpful to ensure the kiosk works! Also when I moved into my second unit I was notified that I would get my gate access code etc via text on my move in date. I did not get the text until two days later. Luckily I have the app which gave me all of the info I needed. Other than those few issues it's been good overall. read more

I've used Public Storage for business and personal use for many years. I've never had a problem and recently when I've called with questions or an issue they've had pretty good customer service. Now not all of their employees have the best customer service but I kinda feel that a lot of businesses are like that these days.. I always get an indoor unit with climate control. 9.9/10 times your stuff will never have an issue. If you have an outdoor unit you better hope your things are outdoor proof as Mother Nature has a mind of its own. read more

On May 3 in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic my girl received an email saying She owed a $100 cleaning fee for leaving her storage unit dirty after we moved out. Except we didn't move out. We were about 1 month behind on the payment. More than enough time for them to change the lock and begin the auction process. Instead they "disposed" of everything. Their words. I SHOULD STRESS THIS WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE BOTH WERE UNEMPLOYED, AND UNEMPLOYMENT HAD NOT YET BEGUN TO COME IN. Businesses were making numerous concessions during this time, but apparently Public Storage made the decision to go more strict in ruining people. Our unit, which was 31 days late, had been deemed "abandoned." What this actually means is, because it was a small unit, they made the decision that it would be better economically to throw our things away and get another renter. If the people that made this decision had the mental capacity of your average nine year old they would have seen the property therein was worth quite a bit. A $2k cashmere coat. Gone. My poor dog's ashes, now forever in a landfill. I really can't get over that. All of our winter clothes including suits, coats, bedding. A television. I could go on and on. And the best part? The people that work there won't tell us where the stuff went or where my dog was or even speak to me because we lawyered up. Their lawyers? They won't speak either. When I went up there I was told the unit was empty but the girl said to check back the next day. The next day I received a voicemail from Donna, the District Manager. When I called her back she wouldn't answer nor respond to texts. Oh and just to note we had an emergency contact listed. Did they contact him to let him know they were going to trash my property rather than go through the legally defined auction process? Not even once. WE JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO MY THINGS. WHAT KIND OF HORRIBLE PEOPLE YOU MUST BE TO DO THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC WHERE I WAS LAID OFF BEFORE YOU HAD THE RIGHT. They won't tell me anything. My dog's ashes were in there. My scrap book with the only existing pictures of my girlfriend and her deceased mother were in there. All of our winter clothes. A cashmere coat worth triple what I owed them. And they won't tell me anything. I don't want my dog in a landfill. I want him back with the pictures. The thieves that run this vile business can have the rest but please give me my dog and my pictures. What the hell is wrong with you? Don't ever leave your things here. If you already use them? Do NOT rent a unit from Public Storage ESPECIALLY if you think storage services from this company is affordable. Trust me, the cost isn't competitive if you stay for over a year. Once your stuff is moved in they will continue jacking up the price until you leave. I'm so tired of their "Storage Rent Rate Updates" (postcards telling you they're jacking up the rates) and today, I received yet another one. These price increases are not in line with inflation or industry price increases. As such, it seems like a classic "bait and switch" scumbag move. I pay on time, but if you run late, get ready for a OUTRAGEOUS $49.60 late charge! Seriously? Do NOT move your stuff here. I rarely use storage for my furniture or other stuff but if you want to use Public storage, please do not. My storage area are filled with rodent dudu and mildew. The manager advised that I do not need to pay the bill because of of the rodent infestation. It turned out the biking department did not agree and they want me to pay for late fees and the actual bill if I do not they will auction the stuff. They are all incompetent and unsanitary facilities. No coordinate with each other. They will not accept anything even though each customer service gives incorrect information. They will not let you get your stuff and they not acknowledge they incompetence. I feel the public storage is not good place to put your belongings in. Virtually any other company I have ever dealt with will give you a heads up when you have a payment coming due, and further, if you missed it will let you know ASAP so you have a chance to make it within a reasonable grace period. NOT PUBLIC STORAGE. And if you do miss that payment, they charge a WHOPPING 20% fee, which in my case is $48.40. Oh yes, they will tell you afterwards that when you signed up for the rental unit, you agreed to this extravagantly excessive penalty. Oh, OK...gee, I didn't have an extra half hour to read all your fine print. I perceived Public Storage to be a reputable company that would not gouge people this much, and would give a grace period, but obviously not the case. I would suggest you look for a smaller storage unit company, maybe a mom & pop operation where they might actually be more reasonable in working with you and better in providing reminders of payments due. I shall start my search for one so I can relocate my storage items at my earliest convenience. Final word...BEWARE OF PUBLIC STORAGE'S FINE PRINT of which you have now been advised of some of it...who knows what else is in there as "gotchas"!!! Oh, and BTW, I did contact the district manager on this, asking for some sort of reasonable reduced amount of penalty if it could not be waived altogether, but was politely told there would be no consideration of that whatsoever. I selected this place for 3 reasons: (1) reputable brand, (2) conveniently located, (3) caught the $1 first-month special, which made the price unbeatable. My first experience with personnel was during a call inquiring about contract specifics. The man who answered the phone did an excellent job of answering my questions and advising on policies (without sounding condescending). I like that I can adjust (for example, downgrade the size of) my storage space without much notice - and with no negative financial implication (units are rent-able month-to-month and the cost is prorated if you need to swap units, mid-month). Finally, I visited the store. I worked with Ebony and Monay; both of whom were impressively service-oriented, articulate, and personable. They showed the space(s) [I have two units at the moment], and helped me complete the paperwork to formalize the arrangement. The spaces are clean, secure, and well-lit. There is minimal random debris around the property - the property appears well cared for. So far, flawless execution on the part of the store employees! read more

Hate to tell the other renter, but nothing has improved here since her post in 2014. Actually, they have gotten worse. Now the front gate is broken and has been broken more than once in the last two months, for days at a time. So... they just leave it wide open. 24/7. No front gate! To make it even worse, they leave the building doors wide open. Wide Open! Even when closed, the code is not needed on one of the two doors. No door. So there is nothing but the lock on your unit as security. I'm out. As much of a pain moving stuff is, theft is not an option. Rent elsewhere. Lots of Public Storage options and other companies to choose from nearby. The main company Customer Service staff available over the phone is awesome. But they really can't improve anything at this store. Update - We moved to another Public Storage further south on Roswell. What a difference! Clean, organized, great staff and secure building! When we went back to this location, after 6 PM yesterday. the gate was still wide open and I saw a cut lock on the ground in front of an outside unit. I rented a Uhaul at another local Public Storage. They also were having a rare gate issue. Guess what their solution was? Lock the gate and let everyone know they needed to come during business hours for a day or two. Great idea! It's public STORAGE after all, not Public ACESS! Super staff at the other location. Awesome!! So I'm still sold on Public Storage as a whole, but glad to have my experience at this location in the rear view mirror! read more

When I initially purchased my storage unit for $1 it's not really a dollar they charge for the insurance and you purchase a lock if you do not already have one . The person who helped was awesome but the promo for $1.00 is never really that simple and I moved out on today paid in advance by storage bill and I didn't get a prorated refund I was only there for 9 days but they kept my full payment which does not really make sense .The doors on the storage buildings do not lock as they are suppose to they are broken . I would recommend finding storage space that will not charge you a full month if you are leaving before the month is out . I read a review that stated you would get a prorated refund if you leave by the 15th but that was not giving to me as an option. I asked theu told me no . Rent at your own risk read more

When I first looked for a storage unit, this one was highly rated. In fact, there were some 10+ reviews, all of them 4 or more stars, with the majority being 5 stars and all praising the customer service and, in particular, the rep KayKay. It was one of the main reasons I chose this unit, in fact. But now, coming back two weeks later it looks like Yelp must have caught wind of their ways and deleted all of those reviews. I suppose they were propaganda. At least I can enlighten you to the true ways of this place. All in all, it's served my purpose just fine which is why I'd give it 3 stars. But will it serve yours fine as well? Here's my beginning experience: I set up for a unit online, and they called me. I asked them when they closed. They said 6. I said I could get off work a little early, around 5:15pm and be there by 6 to see the unit. The person on the other line assured me that she would "actually wait for you until you get there." I was stuck in traffic for 55 minutes, which is no easy feat since this unit was 5 miles from my job. I called a little past 6, and no one answered. I left a message. I got there about 10 minutes after 6, and no one was there. I waited in traffic for almost an hour on the assurances of a rep that couldn't even bother to call me to say she wouldn't actually wait for me. I was pretty pissed off, because that meant I had to go back into traffic for another 30 plus minutes. A phone call could have solved that. That's all. Just call me back, and I could try to come the next day. So the next day, I did go back. On my lunch break. I met KayKay, who was very helpful and enthusiastic about everything. Signed the paperwork, and got my unit information for that day. It took a little over an hour to do everything. Pros: - The unit is perfect for what I need to store. It's the smallest available, and fits my boxes and bins of clothes just fine. - They seem to have really good specials. The one I got allowed my unit to be like 20$ for the first month, and 50$ for the second month. But since I only need it one month, I don't think I'll be renewing. - It's a month-to-month lease, which is great. - KayKay was very polite and enthusiastic, and seems to know her stuff for the most part. I can't speak for the other representatives, as the only other one I interacted with was not a good experience. - There isn't any graffiti. Which is great. - One entrance in, one entrance out. You can't even really walk into the unit unless you have the gate code. Cons: - The building my unit is in has a broken door. KayKay said it was usually closed, and required a door key to get it. I'm sure she knew that it didn't work, because she does work there... I've since come to find out that some sort of spring isn't locking properly. The door will be completely shut, and then you can simply grab the handle and pull the door until the lock slips out. - The building my unit is in is probably not air conditioned. In comparison, I checked out 5 other buildings and all of them had a noticeable temperature difference. Mine felt as warm inside as it did outside. They're all supposed to be temperature controlled, for the record. - The same key code that opens the door into my building opens every single door. Or at least the 5 that I tried. This is a little worrisome, as this indicates that security is pretty easy to manipulate, especially if you happen to have a unit here and decide you want to steal from another building's unit. - They said there were a few carts/dollies to help you move your things into the unit, and they weren't lying. There are 2 in the ENTIRE compound. I went to move things around yesterday, and started at my unit, and walked counterclockwise into every building (using the same key code), until the one nearest to the offices had the only 2 carts that I saw in the entire compound. This is ridiculous! I don't know how expensive it would be to have AT LEAST a cart in every building, 5-6 total, but I guess the cost is just too much. I am 115 pounds, and I can't physically lift the majority of the boxes I stored in there, so I needed a cart. - I'm not sure if the security is the best here. In my building, there's only one camera outside that I could see. There weren't any inside, and there wasn't one in the elevator. I think that in itself would deter thieves. The other building seemed a bit better security wise, so maybe mine is just the lax one. I don't think I'd trust anything of value to be stored here. - Everything is old and worn down. It seems like they've never updated anything, and there are cracks and breaks all over the place. There's a bug problem, which is probably a given, but it's clear they don't have any kind of pest management system in place. For comparison, I had my things in there for 8 days, and when I went there yesterday I saw several bugs crawling over my things. There's only a packet of rat poison. read more
