Trash moving company. Not sure how they have such a high rating. They broke our refrigerator, my baby's dresser and our expensive china. Just found out they aren't giving us a dime back. SHAME ON YOU. Anecdote from one of the movers when he told us the baby dresser was broken "You can just saw off the other legs to make it even for the leg that broke off" - a dresser mind you we were using as changing table for our nine month old. We also paid more for this moving company because of the high reviews. Comical. The office staff that handled estimate & booking were helpful and so responsive. Dwyane and Damonte were truly an all star team! When they arrived, I was still doing some last minute things but they got right to work after I showed them what was staying and going. They worked so quickly and were essentially non-stop! They were faster than the estimated move time which has truly NEVER happened across nearly a half dozen moves that I've made. They answered my questions and helped come up with solutions for the things that I was unsure about how to pack or transport. Dwayne seriously took my stress level down a few notches which was such a relief! They were professional and friendly. I was moving from a one bedroom apartment to a two bedroom townhouse so I wasn't sure where everything would go in the new place. They put everything where I asked and made adjustments without a problem when I changed my mind. By the time they left my house already felt like a home (with a little help from my brother-in-law who set up WiFi, mounted the TV and put things on my bookshelf) but the furniture arrangements were spot on and they even organized where I'm storing a bunch of holiday and travel stuff. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to pay a moving company and still do all the moving yourself, look no further than Wirks Moving Company. Before the move, I provided a detailed inventory list of everything that needed to be moved. Apparently, the crew interpreted it as a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book and selected only the items that sparked joy for them. The rest were left behind for us to discover later. We also paid them to place furniture and boxes in designated rooms. Instead, they introduced us to an exciting new game called "Where the Heck Did They Put It?" Every room contained random furniture, mystery boxes, and enough confusion to qualify as an escape room. Several items were damaged. Screws disappeared. Furniture arrived in pieces. At this point, I assume the missing hardware is being sold separately on eBay. The team leader deserves special recognition. I've never seen someone work so hard at avoiding work. There was plenty of time for smoke breaks, attitude, and excuses, but somehow not enough time to complete the job we hired them to do. When we pointed out the mountain of items they left behind, his response was: "You guys need to stop adding things." That would've been a solid defense if we had actually added anything. Unfortunately for him, we have the original inventory list. The items he accused us of "adding" were literally on the list from the beginning. It takes a special level of confidence to blame the customer for your own inability to read. The grand finale was when we had to rent a U-Haul and finish the move ourselves. Nothing boosts customer confidence quite like watching a professional moving company leave while you're headed to rent your own truck to complete the job they were already paid to do. To summarize: Damaged furniture Missing screws Missing items Furniture placed wherever the movers felt inspired Endless smoke breaks Attitude included at no extra charge Had to rent our own U-Haul Had to finish the move ourselves Honestly, calling this a moving company feels inaccurate. They did move some things. The rest of the experience was more of a scavenger hunt, obstacle course, and team-building exercise designed to strengthen our marriage through shared frustration. If your dream is to pay thousands of dollars to become your own moving company, Wirks is the perfect choice. This is literally the worst moving company you can ever use. Please look somewhere else. Their business model is to bid low and screw you on the day of your move. They sent three guys and as soon as the furniture was loaded, one guy hurt himself and couldn't walk. So it ran very late, with just two guys. I spoke with Tim and James, the supposedly quality control guys and I was told that because it was so late, they would put everything in the garage and return in the morning to bring everything in the house. They called the next day to tell me no one was coming to complete the job. So I have all my furniture and boxes stuffed into my garage. Unbelievable. Very unprofessional. One of the problems is they lost an end table which I used every day.......LOST how do you loses a small table ( We moved from Roswell to Marietta). LOST !!! I still do not understand that. We have many broken or bent items, damaged drywall, boxes dropped and damaged. Broke both of our desks I mean really. Looking for a new moving company is always challenging so started the look a few weeks ago for a big move for me and based on my special needs- piano moving/lots of appliances , actually had another mover recommend Wirks. I'm in Flowery Branch near Gainesville so had never thought about a Marietta based company, but called for a quote and from the first moment- I knew this team had their act together. Rather than throwing out numbers, got on a facetime/zoom call and walked around my house and my mothers so their planner could get me an accurate quote. Very professional, very detailed, I walked around the house pointing out specifics of what I can get and they can get, tried to limit their "packing" and focus on the large stuff so got a quote in and decided to go with them. Very impressed!!! Got the quote over, they followed several times before arriving on time the planned day of move, showed up with 7 men, 2 trucks and we walked through the house and they were off to work. They didn't just wrap a couch or table, legs came off, all wrapped with blankets and clear wrap and they packed up the first house in less than a few hours( 4 bedrooms, 3 living rooms, washer dryer fridge, piano)- and were at the second location ready to go with one truck while the other went to my moms assisted living and packed her stuff up. What a job. No wasted time, focused, wow. Total ended up at 8 hours to move into a 5200 sq ft home, nothing broken, put it all where it belonged, super efficient, price was what he quoted. This was our third time using Wirks; the first time was great, the second was ok and this experience was enough to make me never want to move again. When I questioned the estimator on the number of supplies (boxes) included in the estimate I was told it should be plenty- 3 hours into my packing I'm being asked to approve going from the original 40 boxes needed to 110 boxes. I have no doubt there may have been things missed on both sides during the estimate process but there's 0 chance we missed showing 65% of the items needed packing. Being our seventh move in 12 years, we are 100% aware of the process and that any supplies above and beyond the estimate carry a charge. There would never be an attempt to under sell the estimator; regardless, left with little option due to a constrained timeline we were forced to continue. Upon arriving home the night of the pack, I found 5 wardrobe boxes in my bathroom from my master closet (add-ons from the original estimate). I knew we didn't have a lot of items so I opened a box to see what all had been packed. Imagine my surprise to find the box less than 3/4 full. Curious if it was a safety/weight issue I had my 5'2" and 115 lb wife come over and comfortably lift the box. After opening up the remaining wardrobe boxes and finding they were all 2/3 or less full, it helped solve some of the questions from earlier on why so many more boxes were needed than the original estimate. As an add on, the labor and material cost for each subsequent wardrobe box was $32+. Quick and easy way to drive up the cost of a move! Fast forward to after the move and the return trip to the residence we were vacating. We missed an opportunity to walk the home prior to the movers departing due to work commitments but I was shocked at the amount of stuff that hadn't been packed and loaded. We had bar stools, a lamp, multiple pieces of Sonos equipment and canvas pictures left lying the various rooms. The laundry room had been completely forgotten about and two cabinets in the kitchen were left 50% full. On my worst day I couldn't imagine a more half assed job than what took place at my home. We own 100% not following up prior to departure but it's impossible that there were that many things left by accident. In closing, the next time we move, I'll happily pay 2X to another company and give them a try before using Wirks moving again. read more
