We relocated from Decatur, Georgia, to St. Paul, Minnesota. The move included a pack of our house in Decatur, storage in Atlanta for six months, and then a cross-country relocation of our possessions. Every step of the way, GA Pack and Load has been responsive and professional. Melissa, our move coordinator, is excellent. The quote that we received is exactly what our move cost--unfortunately I can't recall the name of the man who came to our home and gave us our quote, but he was spot-on in his assessment. He also took the time to explain how cross country moves are priced and gave us tips for lowering our costs. Our items were packed up my MJ and her team--thus far, nothing I've unpacked has been broken, and I've unpacked all of my dishes and kitchen items. The furniture arrived in great shape too, including some rickety antique chairs. MJ and her team arrived with all of the supplies they needed, and when I found a couple of items hidden in corner of the garage, MJ swung by to pick them up and drop them off for us even though it was through no fault of her team's that these items were forgotten. Pedro, Jose, Miguel, and Frank relocated our items from Georgia, moved them into our house, and put together several items. They had everything in the house and assembled in under five hours. We had two trucks worth of stuff! Our new home is smaller than our previous home, and they patiently moved stuff around when it didn't fit where we'd thought it would. They moved everything in during a muddy winter day too and keot the house and the furniture and boxes clean. After having made numerous national corporate moves using moving companies with great results, this particular company was the absolute worst. We expected that same experience of professional packing and moving but not so. We took our good experiences for granted. Should not have! The so called "packers" did not know how to pack. They were friendly but failed otherwise. Much that should have been boxed was not and much of what was boxed was poorly done. The extensive damage and even loss of items reflects the lack of professionally trained packers. I would have liked, if possible, to share photos of destroyed items some of which could be replaced but other items irreparable and sentimental. The list is long. The truck even started to pull away before finishing packing and loading. There were random items in rooms as well as a completely unpacked master bath and closet. I and another packer managed to stop the truck. It returned. Then there were not enough wardrobe boxes to properly pack the master closet...one box! So some clothing was hung and the rest was dumped on the bottom of the box arriving totally mixed up, tangled and wrinkled. I even wonder how a lamp shade from the bedroom was left wedged between a toilet and wall in a bathroom not close to the bedroom! I could go on and just wish I could share photos. Fellow volunteers from our hospital had a packing party days previous to packers arriving. They did the best job and I thank God that they were the ones that wrapped and packed my china, crystal and some other precious items. A nearly 3,000 square foot home "packed" and loaded within a day. Compensation was VERY poor, tears were shed and all we can do now is warn others. read more

This is the 6th time I've used GA Pack and Load and I can't say enough great things about this company. Moving is a nightmare, and GA Pack and Load takes so much of the stress away. They showed up a month a head of time with all the boxes,tape, bubble wrap, paper wrap I needed. On moving day, they were on time ( after confirming both a week out, the day ahead, and morning of) and showed up with 5 people to move us. They operate like a fine oiled machine! First the good stuff....Everybody there was very professional acting, polite and nice. They did about everything they should have. For the most part, very quick and efficient. No damage to speak of with anything they moved. 90% was very nicely done. Had some very minor damage done to the Kitchen island, but they were very fast to react to that. The majority of the experience was good, but some disappointments along the way soured the experience somewhat. But, lets start with the sales guy. Said we could ship liquids including liquor (you can not). Other estimate from national mover was very upfront about that. Said we would have the same guys travel to Tulsa from Alpharetta to unload. That did not happen. Said everything would fit on one truck. That did not happen. Initial quote looked really good, but I noticed that it did not factor in packing, even though that was requested. He had "forgotten" to add that when we talked during his visit. Then the packers....Had 5 guys there and for the most part did a great job. But a few of the boxes (see pictures), stuff was just dropped into a box with whatever else. Garden tools with new vacuum, tools and metal objects with breakables. Some clothes thrown in the bottom of a wardrobe box, instead of hanging with everything else. Luckily, very minimal damage other than marks on some items. They did not finish with everything...said the loaders would do the rest. Some of this may have been them. The delivery. I paid the driver upon arriving and before unloading. about 30 minutes later he informed me that they didn't have everything. They were overweight and had to go back. No one bothered to call ahead to warn us or let us know. There was no one to call and talk to at the office (being a Saturday) when driver told us. We had to wait until Monday. No real apologies for not communicating, only telling me the rest would be there 8 days later. 2nd delivery for remaining belongings. One guy, driver only. Called me ahead of time to say when he would be there. Said everything he had would go into garage right? Nope....My son-in-law and I helped him with some of the boxes and heavier pieces of furniture that needed to go upstairs. Quick unload, he was gone within two hours. Pricing. As mentioned above, the original price was substantially lower than a national mover. However, once the packing and materials was put into the bid, and once I had told the other carrier what the price was, the national carrier was actually about $400 less. But due to the things the sales guy told me, we went with Georgia pack and load. No follow up at all after the delivery was complete, and the 2nd driver had left. Recommendation. I've moved 5 times with my work, with the move being paid for by my company, and all with national movers. There have been a few hiccups, but for the most part, extremely good. I'd look very hard at using a national mover. 53 ft trailers vs 28 ft trucks for one thing....If I had to do it over again, I think I'd have to go with the national carrier. read more

Update: Saturday's unpleasant experience with the packers was more than rectified by the actual loading/moving crew that worked for us yesterday. They jumped in and corrected the mess we were left with from the packers. The crew's foreman finished the packing in less than two hours. Three other very professional, courteous young men were wrapping and loading furniture and boxes at a good pace without slamming our possessions around. They respected us. They honestly enjoyed their work and it has been a long time since either my husband or I have seen a team work so perfectly and harmoniously together. You could tell that they also liked and respected each other. I left our old place and journeyed to our new home wayyyyyy up in the north Georgia mountains before they were finished loading. Hubby stayed there and followed them when the loading was done. By the time they wound their way up Hwy 60 and arrived at our new cabin, it was well after dark and the temperature was starting to dip into the 30s up on our mountain. They never complained once about the slightly treacherous drive or the conditions. They maintained their friendly, professional attitude and unloaded quickly, SAFELY and carefully. The entire experience with this crew was not only pleasant....it was enjoyable. And they were incredibly good with our pets. Our Yorkie was ready to go home with them. I am very impressed with the quick, professional response that management provided. I highly recommend Georgia Pack and Load now. They addressed the problem and more than ten fold, made up for it. read more

Would not recommend! The movers spent more time begging for a tip then they did moving my furniture. I booked a move that was guaranteed to take no longer than 9 hours. The move ended up spilling over into the next day. On move day the movers arrived between 10:00 and 10:20 am. At 12:00 am they were still moving furniture and nowhere near finished. They did not complete the move until 11:30 am the next day. When the movers discovered I was not going to tip them, they left a 8x10 rug and rug pad (which they assured me they would dispose of) and other garbage (wrapping paper, boxes, empty water bottles) on the floor in my garage. While I did offer them a bottle of water, I did not offer them nor expect them to drink the entire case of water. I will admit the movers were nice and friendly but they were not efficient nor effective. All in, I absolutely would not recommend. I've moved 7 times within the last 15 years. 4 of those times were out of state moves without incidence. This move was by far the worst and very expensive. The move was approximately $3,000 for a local move which was about 1 mile from my old address. I My last move from AZ to GA was only $5,000 with a national carrier and I never heard the word "tip". No damages, nothing broken and no issues. read more

Update 3/9/2023: Surprised that the reviews are read by their management. I received a text of apology. Never should have been charged for breaks or lunch. Sorry and wanted to reimburse me for that time. Pack and delivery was longer than I would have expected 7 not 6 hours. But they refunded me the difference between what I paid and what it should have been. Not sure who corresponded with me as no signature on text, but the refund did arrive last Friday. I am pleased that someone stepped up to the plate to correct and I am sure that these very nice young men were informed of the rules on delivery. Upped it to 4 stars. First - I am a Georgian - just can get my profile corrected. Used Georgia Pack and Load for a recent move. Recommendations had been pretty good online. But I learned a great lesson. The estimate/quote I received was a little over $1600 - we were not moving much, but 4 men. They arrived at 10. We did the walk and they started wrapping and putting things in the truck. If I moved anything, they quickly said - oh no, you shouldn't move that - let me do that. And if I had question, all 4 showed up to discuss. The gentleman who gave the quote said their people were paid between 18 and 25 per hour. So I was sure that was why they were extra nice. They did take their 15 minute breaks which I expected. I headed over to the new home, and they said they were stopping for lunch. So 1/2 hour drive and 1/2 lunch - they arrived about an hour later. Same attitude and helpfulness at the new place. It was beginning to be a little much. Mentioned tipping in a joking form several times. And now came time to pay - well all that sweetness added 2.5 hours to our bill including their lunch time. And now it was just over $2K. Other estimates/quotes I have received did not say based on the hours but on the move. Shame on me for being aware that this was by the hour - and now we know why they were being so nice. They were building their salary - smart little guys. So if you use them, please be aware of this and don't let them take you for a "ride." Funny I could have gone with another firm for $1,800. as they charge, like others, by the job. Be careful, we used Georgia Pack n Load for packing and moving services. They started by coming on the wrong day (came a day early). I wasn't home so when they reached me I had to come back to the house. They ended up not being able to finish the job and in my head I thought they were taking a long time but I also thought I might be mistaken. So two days later the movers came and one of the guys moving us happen to be one of the packers as well. I overheard him joking with the other moving guys on the team how bad the other packers where because he was able to pack the whole basement by himself and the others should have been able to get the job done before the end of the day. So this left me feeling taking advantage of. When I started unpacking the boxes at the new house there where 5 fragile boxes they packed where they packed heavy items on top of glass. Needless to say the glass candles, picture frames, and collectibles were all broken. When we started looking into moving companies we were shopping around and when I called Georgia Pack n Load I received a quote for 7 hours with Two trucks and 4 guys to move us. I asked them if they needed to come to house to check and the lady that quoted me said "no, I always over estimate so this is all you will need". The move lasted 2 days. After the move I noticed the Air Hockey table wasn't put together, our Christmas tree was missing a part, and a recliner was broken. They did come back and fix recliner and attempt to put together air hockey table but it was missing a scoreboard that goes over it. I started looking for the scoreboard and the missing Christmas tree part and found them buried behind boxes in the basement. The Christmas tree part was broken and when the scoreboard was put back together it didn't work. I asked they fix the items and Read the owner refused saying the air hockey table was fine and that they weren't responsible. read more

Generally, a positive experience with these guys. They were punctual and did a good job moving our stuff. Most of the guys were really nice and very hard working. My only word of caution is that if you use them to pack up your stuff, BUY YOUR OWN BOXES!!! We had them pack us up the day before the move and the boxes cost more than the labor (all in all, the boxes cost more than $350!!). Otherwise, I'd use them again if (god help us) we had to move again, but would definitely get my own boxes. read more

This was our first time using professional moving service and we had high expectations on Georgia Pack & Load moving and storing my family's personal belongs, especially after doing some research and reading reviews on line. They were also recommended by our real estate agent. What started out positive with the packing and storage of our household goods turned into a bad experience with the delivery of all our things into our new house a month later, by the same crew. A couple of our best, most expensive items were damaged at some point during the storage and did not arrive with the rest of our items on move-in day. One portion of an expensive L-shaped sectional arrived and the other didn't with the simple explanation that it was damaged during storage and was being repaired by GP&L. We received the legs of our nice wooden kitchen table but not the top without any explanation only to find out later that it sustained a crack going all the way across the corner and underside of the table. The repair done by GP&L should withstand normal use, but the quality of the table's surface finish has been diminished. It has a notable white haze on that portion that wasn't there before. One of our televisions was unwrapped to reveal it was severely damaged during storage. A large family picture frame was broken and simply discarded. When my wife asked the crew member to take the television back out to be discarded, it was left on our lawn by the garage door. All items were placed into each room as requested. The king-sized bed that belongs in the master bedroom was left unassembled due to the screws being misplaced during the original break down of our furniture by the GP&L moving crew. The entire 6-man crew left to pick up new screws to attach our bed and they did not accurately adjust the charge to account for the lost of work due to their negligence. No one stayed to help rearrange the furniture placed in the rooms. These rooms were left in such a state of disarray that some couldn't even be walked through to remove the wrap left on many furniture items. After the screws were purchased only half of the crew returned to finish the final placement of furniture(which we were charged for the full crew). One member of this crew made my wife feel very uncomfortable when they got back as he confronted her about calling the owner while they were away. "You called my boss on me?" he said accusingly to her as he walked into our home. I had called their office when she texted me that the whole crew left to get the screws instead of one person going and the rest staying to finish the job. During the final walk through, my wife felt pressured to rush through it and to just sign the form stating all work was completely as agreed. During this walk-through the foreman quickly stated that part of the final walk-through included unwrapping all furniture and discarding the mess. This wasn't done and also during this time my wife discovered another damaged piece of furniture and the foreman tried to downplay the damage. Since he was the only one left there and was clearly ready to go my wife decided to unwrap and clean up the remaining moving materials so he could leave. Then, when she was finally done, she sat down on the bed--that was supposedly and also expensively fixed--to relax and the bed collapsed, because they used the minimum number of screws possible for the bed to be considered assembled. Both my wife and I were very displeased with the crew's lack of professionalism, improperly being charged and the job being left incomplete. The following day, a small, different crew came to drop off our repaired sofa, the kitchen table and assemble our collapsed bed with the correct screws. We were not told our kitchen table was damaged, but it was clearly repaired. The repair is less of an issue than the lack of honesty. We were led to believe that the tabletop was just stored somewhere else and needed to be brought separately. We understand things sometimes are broken during a move, but expected Georgia Pack and Load to handle such issues with more integrity. After the dust settled, we agreed to meet with the owner to discuss our experience with his company and while he originally seemed to be genuinely disappointed with our treatment, ultimately we were postponed and eventually forgotten. We did receive a timely reimbursement for the damaged table and current market value for the broken TV left on the lawn. While we appreciated the ease of scheduling and competitive pricing, the unprofessional crew and our overall experience can not allow us to recommend Georgia Pack and Load's services to family or friends. read more

I am writing an update so that prospective customers have the benefit of my experience and have more information about GP&L. Since I posted my review (1-star) I wrote the company -with the genuine intent to provide constructive feedback, believing all good companies will respond to fair and productive feedback-and I have spoken the owner. I did not receive any defensive push back but rather an open conversation to find a fair and equitable solution to the damages that occurred during our move. I think its important to note that the true test of the quality of a company (and the product/service it provides)- is how well do they handle a bad transaction/situation. I am happy to say GP&L has stepped up and is willing to hear us out and do right by us. They did not come back at us and try to make this about us or our fault. They listened to our complaint and why we felt that our concerns were important. After some conversation we came to a mutually satisfactory solution. Regrettably the move was a stinker but the effort made afterwards to work with us was first class. If we move again I will talk to GP&L and give them the opportunity to earn our business, again. read more

Reed came out to the house we were moving from and gave me a very accurate estimate of the packing and the moving portions, separately, as requested. The ladies who packed up the house where friendly, quick and handled the items with care. BUT, they didn't over pack, like I have seen other moving companies do. One mover left personal belongings and demanding I stay at home for home to collect them. They didn't put all the furniture back together and left items at the old house. This is a follow-up and update to my previous review on 7/19/2014. As I noted, the service itself was great. The issue I had was with the unexpected travel charge of $129. When I arranged for the service I was quoted a rate of $129/hr for 2 men with a minimum rate of 3 hours. When I got the actual bill from the team leader when the job was finished...which took a little over 2 hours, it was for $517. When I questioned the amount he advised the extra $129 for a travel charge. I paid the full amount but advised the team leader I would follow up with a protest. I posted the review below and contacted the company. We discussed the issue and I was advised that it is their policy to always note travel charges whenever they quote a rate to a customer. I have no recollection of that...I think I would have remembered an extra $129 but on the other hand, to be fair, the company representative may have mentioned a travel charge without mentioning an amount. I think we both accept that it was a misunderstanding and the company representative advised they would refund the $129 which they did. I am completely satisfied with the way the matter was handled and I would certainly do business with Georgia Pack and Load again. read more

To all my yelpers out there, I'm doing you a favor. Worst decision I made was choosing Georgia Pack and Load. After spending well over $2k for their moving services, I'll sum it up in a nutshell why the experience was so terrible. First off, talking things over with Jennifer went pretty smoothly. She gave me the best quote, told me how many people I would need to assist with packing and moving out, and things were off to a great start. Until the red flags started to occur (as follows): 1) 3 men were supposed to arrive and only 2 men showed up. I was told that 1 of the men present was worth "2 men." LOL. They did rectify this and gave me the rate of 2 men...as they should. 2) They packed all my things and did NOT mark which boxes were from what rooms i.e. kitchen, laundry, bedroom, etc. I did not notice this until now, as I am unpacking and every box is a surprise to me and which room it should be placed in. 3) They told me they would pack my television, my $1500 television, in a television box. Nope. It was wrapped in moving blankets and the base of it broke. They compensated me with $30 in repairs. $30! LOL. I am in disbelief at how ridiculous this is, especially after discussing with Jennifer that I was willing to pay the $100 TV box they would provide. Unbelievable. 4) After spending well over $2k, they snuck a "$120" charge for STORAGE after saying it would be complementary. After contacting Jennifer, I was first told the $120 was for a miscalculated invoice, followed by a travel fee, followed by the actual charge it was for---STORAGE. UNBELIEVABLE. And they refused to waive the fee until I got my credit card company involved. 5) No apology for trying to charge extra money behind my back. I am so happy I got my credit card company involved because if it wasn't for them, I am sure I would still be stuck with the charge. 6) I used them to store my items and I was NOT allowed to get my items as needed on my time frame. It was based on THEIR time frame, and if I was unable to go when they were open (up to 5pm on weekdays, Saturday from 10-2pm) I was charged another fee. That's convenience for you. I will never use this company again. It is unfortunate, because I have several of my girlfriends moving into new places and they asked me which moving company I used. At least they will know not to use Georgia Pack and Load. Do yourself a favor and use someone else or rely on someone dependable---YOURSELF. Never again. **EDIT** In response to THEIR reply on 9/6/2017 Thank you for your response SIX months after the incident occurred. Timely response indeed. In response to how I did this and that, how I couldn't have been made happy, I have the entire email chain of what occurred including YOUR responses. The email(s) clearly outline the size of my condo (633sq feet) that I needed to be packed up, INCLUDING all furniture/items I needed to be boxed up INCLUDING the television. So yes, I did agree to the TV box charge hence I told you I needed an estimate to prepare myself for all the costs I was going to incur--I told you in advance I wanted the WHOLE condo packed up, and if you brought the TV box as discussed (which you didn't) my TV wouldn't have been broken. SEVERAL times I asked you what the MISC charge was, and your response was all these "other reasons" until finally explaining to me it was for storage. Yes, I have that email chain too. The reason why I was so frustrated on this MISC charge was not due to me being UNWILLING to pay (I spent over $2k for goodness sake--including using YOUR storage/packing materials that I trusted you to handle after telling you what things I needed to be moved including the TV), it was a matter of PRINCIPLE OF NOT SNEAKING CHARGES IN TO YOUR CUSTOMER. I find that incredibly dishonest, and I don't reward that type of behavior with rolling over and just taking that charge as if it's nothing. All these "accusations" that you've accused me of essentially not telling the truth, I have email chains to back it up. All you yelpers out there, do your due diligence and research before trusting your belongings to this company. As opposed to sending me a personal apology through email, you are trying to justify your mistakes with this transition through false accusations. And FYI, my "new" home you moved me into was the SAME address. I had to move in/out of the same house b/c of all the renovations I was making. We used Georgia Pack and Load last year for our move from the home we sold to a rental. There were four guys, but really only three worked, and while they made the move in a timely manner, they damaged the floors at both homes. At the rental, they dropped, DROPPED, my washer and brushed it off as though it weren't a big deal. This drop resulted in a big gouge in the hardwood floors and our washer being knocked off balance. They also marked up the walls, with some significant indentions that will require mudding and sanding. The main guy who was in charge of the crew, took pictures and said they would be sending someone out to handle it, and we're still waiting on that person to show up...that was July 2020. I do not recommend them as they do not stand behind any damages they cause in the moving process. :( read more

I had a very positive experience with Georgia pack and load. From the estimating process to the actual move day, everything went according to plan. The Load crew was polite courteous and very careful. On the house we moved out of, there were virtually no nicks, marks or scuffs. On our move in date it was the same. The crew was wonderful. STAY AWAY from GA Pack & Load!!! Would give them 0 stars if I could. Movers broke numerous priceless items and there was no compensation because it was "PBO" (packed by owner) when these items were clearly broken due to the HORRIBLE way in which they were handled by GA Pack & Load. I have pictures to prove how I packed the items as well as pictures after movers handled the boxes. Pathetic company. And they have very poor customer service. read more
