To start, the unit I rented was the right size and easily accessible. FIVE stars for that. My biggest issue is the constant and persistent price increases. In the years I have had this unit, the price has more than TRIPLED!!! And, the advertised rental price is close to what it was originally. We just moved from Seattle to Surprise, AZ and needed to store our belongings until our home is built. I had done my research and remembered using PS 20+ years ago while in College. They offer the first month for only $1 + a $24 admin fee (which is not mentioned until you call) so do keep that in mind. They offer better deals online than by phone or in person. We saved about $25 by reserving our 10x15 unit online and worked with Eric once we arrived. He was very helpful in finding me what I needed and took the time to discuss my options. The auto-pay process was very easy to set up and their online billing is easy to understand. We're only a few days into what will likely be 5-6 months of service but I am please thus far. read more

Horrible!!! Terrible customer service. You guys are in breach of contract. Move in date was yesterday. The storage unit was supposed to be a 5x10 and it was not, it was a 5x5. You had no one on site to assist my mother while she stood there and waited with a piano mover I paid $350 for to get your mistake corrected and get the correct size unit. You wouldn't help when I called in. No one on site, no one answers the phone or returns calls, customer service call center was ZERO help. Horrible service. You are in breach of contract. Contract needs to be cancelled and I demand to be fully refunded. We had to find last minute storage (the right size to fit my piano) elsewhere. read more

I have rented at this facility for almost 15 years. I rented there before Public Storage bought the place and ever since. Recently they raised my rate by 32%. That's right 32%. I spoke with the District Manager and she was NO HELP AT ALL. She spewed some "market correction" BS. So, now I had to move all of the stuff that I have had there for 15 years to another facility near-by. I would strongly encourage you to consider renting elsewhere. I hate to leave this type of review as the people there on-site have always been good to deal with. Jessica was there for quite a while and now it's a fella named CAT. They were both great. I give them 2 stars because the units are nice and everything to get myself a storage unit all online was a breeze. My problem is the price hikes that they pull on you. Within 4 months they jacked up my rate by 20 dollars. I'm not the only one.....I read they have been accused of "bait and switch" with class action lawsuits in other states. I contacted them and they put in a rent reduction request which brought it down 8 dollars or so. I'm renting a 5x5 downstairs unit which started at 28 dollars a month, which was all booked online. I just looked before I started this review and they are advertising the same unit for 28 dollars once again. Why couldn't mine have stayed at that price? I have rented storage units before from other places and not once did I ever have my rent jacked up. read more

I reserved a unit online with the $1/month promotion. The next day I went and realized that the unit was too small and spoke with the girl in the office. She said I would have to pay full price for a bigger unit because I "could not use the promotion twice". I tried to explain multiple times that I was not asking for an additional promotion, but merely asking to switch to a bigger unit and that I had not even used the unit I had reserved yet. I would have given a five star rating but unfortunately they are more expensive than Cube Smart. Also, at times until recent they only had two carts to use because customers abused. Employees were informative and tried their best to resolve any issues. Location was convenient but there were a lot of dead bugs in the hallways and trash outside on the common grounds constantly. Although there was bugs, none never gotten into any boxes I had which was good. Also, Someone broke into my storage unit and I had to purchase a new lock. We originally used the lock given to us by Public Storage but my storage unit was immediately broken into. Instead of being given a new lock for free, I had to buy a brand new $20 lock from Public Storage. If you are interested in this location, just make sure you place things in air tight boxes/containers to prevent bugs getting into your things and bring your own unbreakable lock or confirm that lock provided by Public Storage is completely brand new & hasn't been used. read more

I had a unit here for about 2 years - a couple things to keep in mind if you are considering this storage company: 1) The automatic doors rarely work properly anymore (they did when I first moved in) and are often stuck open. Not very secure. 2) There are bugs everywhere, so make sure to protect your stuff 3) Move out policy - Be Warned! They don't prorate, so if you paid at the first of the month and move out a week later you are out the total monthly rent. This is in the contract but isn't pointed out at sign up, and wasn't mentioned when I called to confirm move out policy. 4) Overall the staff on-site is pleasant. read more

This facility is very clean and the customer service was amazing. My son and I worked with Cathy (with a C) and she was very helpful in assisting me to downsize my unit. She showed us a couple of units and I told her I would be back because we wanted to get some lunch before making the decision on which unit would fit our budget. We had already looked on-line prior to coming in so we knew what the price would be. Don't you just appreciate it when people aren't following to you to your car to make a sell? She didn't do that nor did she give me that "Well it's the last one we have at that price and someone may show up while you're gone?"LOL. The price for their units are outrageous. Several times they jacked up the price for the unit. I moved out of my unit recently. I had this unit for almost 6 years. I was not there the whole month so I was expecting a refund for the unused time. I haven't heard anything. So I called the store. You can't talk to anyone there you get sent to a call center. There I was told that it doesn't matter what day you move out they keep the whole month's rent. I was told it was in my renter's agreement. It been a few years so I'm not sure where that is. So I asked for them to send that agreement to me. The customer service representative said that she can't. I asked if she had access to my account. She indicated that she did. I asked if she could see the agreement. Again, yes. So why can't you send it to me? "We just can't". Sorry but that's a shitty answer. She refused to give me her name or a call reference number. It seems to me like they are hiding something. I've used storage units before and have always gotten a prorated refund. They can rent that unit the same day I left, they aren't losing any money! read more

I read reviews before I use business. This newer store looked trust worthy. I found out after the fact I was wrong. I have not had the need to rent a storage unit in 17 years. But due to my Mothers declining health I had to move her to a higher level of care. I thought it made sense to put her thing in storage. Called on the phone directly to the store on Willow Ave, in Surprise. Spoke to a real nice gal who offered me a unit near the elevator. And told me if I was running late this coming Saturday to call and they would wait on me. Thought what great Customer Service. But then I met TY. Walked in gave him my name. He told me I called and cancelled. Told him I did Not Cancel. Then I was told someone else called and cancelled for me. Again I told him he was mistaken. We went to look at the storage unit which was Not near the elevator. When I questioned it, was told first come first serve. He went on to tell me units do NOT get assigned till I came in and sign and pay. And this was The last Unit in the size I requested.Asked for a Manager and he said he was the Manager. Asked who was in charge of the store? Told the guy in charge of this location is out of town this weekend. I could call him on Monday. And this story gets even better..I bought their lock and insurance. TY asked me if I wanted him to put the lock on ? I told him going back getting truck packed first run would add the lock. He watched me walk out of the store with lock in hand. He said nothing. Come to find out, first run, Locked out of the unit I just rented. And where was TY? Gone for the day. Oh and thank you for the code to get in to a locked unit.Talk about Customer Service. Yes that is part of the job when you stand behind the counter. You need to educate the customer. You dont watch them walk out of the store not realizing once you rent a unit the company expects you before you leave, to put the lock on an empty unit. If not, you add your own. And thank you for allowing me the Privilidge to pay for another day of Uhaul rental fees because I was unable to unload the truck into a storage unit I just rented. And also thank you for allowing me to pay an extra day of room and board charges at a local Assisted Living facility because the move out date was just pushed back a day. Super convenient location, with great access for loading and unloading items from units. Climate controlled facility is clean and cool during our hot summer months. We had a unit there for about a year and no issues at all with break-ins, tampering, or inconsiderate neighbors. Their staff was exceptional, helpful and understanding that moving is tough. Reserved my storage unit online and when I went in to complete my reservation and pay for my unit, I was greeted by Jessica. She was very friendly and up beat. She was more than happy to show me my unit and a couple of others. It's a very large facility and I found it nice that she wasn't bothered at all by all the walking I made her do in showing me a bunch of units. It's nice to know that she's there 5 out of 7 days. My move in experience with Shelly (the new manager - apparently she just took over three weeks ago) was very good. She was very friendly, showed me the unit I was leasing and also how to get in the building, etc. A couple of critiques: - They seem a little understaffed ... the door to their retail / leasing area was locked during hours (staff were out and about doing tasks on property), but they came back as promised at the time listed on the door. Another critique would be their full price. The full price for my unit at $68 seemed high, but I got a good deal during a sale, so I won't complain about that. read more

Don't get me wrong, I like Public Storage but my rent keeps going up! If it goes up again I'm going to have to find something else, I can't afford their price increases every few months. When I signed up with them 3 years ago I wasn't even paying $200/month and now I'm paying $250/month. It's ridiculous. I cannot in good conscience recommend Public Storage. I have never had a direct problem with the on-site staff. They have always been helpful whenever I have needed assistance. The cart situation at the facility has become a joke. I now bring my own means of transporting anything in or out. My biggest issue with the company has been their pricing. Since renting my unit three years ago, they have raised my rent several times. My rent is now 50% more than what I originally agreed to pay. When I left the state, I had items which I could not take with me but I did not want to lose. Now that I am out of the state, they have me over a barrel. They can, and do, raise my rent regularly. When I call to complain, they tell "that's the going rate now". But, that is not what I signed up for. I can understand raising rent occasionally, that's proper business. Fifty percent increase in three years - ridiculous! If you are planning a longer term rental, find a better company! UPDATE: 4/26/2018 - They continue to raise my rent! According to the email I received today, they are raising my rent again at the end of May to ALMOST DOUBLE WHAT I ORIGINALLY SIGNED UP FOR! Since signing up with them 5 years ago, they have raised my rent by 95% of my original contract. They have me over the same barrel, as I still do not live in the States. read more

IF I EVER HAVE THE NEED FOR A STORAGE UNIT I WILL USE PUBLIC STORAGE AGAIN. I had been a customer for 18 months at this storage facility and upon vacating I both called, spoke to Al, and inquired at front desk, new employee, as to check out policy to prevent being charged additional charges. Not only was I told they do not prorate but was also told I had a 2 day grace period, giving me till 6pm today, June 2nd, to have unit emptied. When I went to do their final walk through today I was given a bill for 2 days rent. When I questioned this charge and explained I had called AND verified there would be no charge I was given an excuse that the person I had spoke to was new and had been reprimanded for giving false information. I stated the obvious, I was given false information and why should their lack of training new employees be my burden, only to be given the same excuse, never apologized to and made to feel like I was incompetent in understanding the information I had received from both Al and the 'new' employee. BTW the gentlemen I was dealing with today was named Al......Whhheird! I paid the bill, was charged an entire month of insurance on top of 2 days rent, advised I would never do business with them again and left. What happened to customer service and accepting responsibility for an error that was clearly their fault. Rent from this facility at your own risk. read more

If you are looking for a place to store your items in the west valley this is the place!!! We moved cross country in the middle of the AZ summer with our entire house. You can't beat the indoor climate control and cleanliness of these units. The pricing was great as well. Jeff was very helpful before we arrived as well as during our 5 months there!! So they open at 9:30am and I was out and about...decided to stop by a bit earlier to just check the place out...I parked right outside and got on their website to set a reservation..I did, then a lady comes out and asks if I was another customer..I said "no, but I did just make a reservation" "Ok come in and I'll help you before my boss comes in" (Awesome!!) I walk in and she gets behind the computer and says " Since I'm doing YOU a favor opening early, you have to do me a favor and buy a box!" umm "m'am I don't need a box, I have a whole uhaul full of boxes. In fact I need to get rid of boxes" "I did you a favor and opened early for YOU and you wont buy a box? you can buy anything, cant you use anything in here" So, basically from the moment she asked me to buy a box I was turned off! I politely said " thanks but no thanks!" and walked out... I mean does that make any sense? NOPE! I found a much more affordable and safe place a few miles down the road with a better deal....needless to say I wont be referring the aforementioned spot. read more
