Would rate in negative numbers if I could. Rented unit in September, added stuff off and on until mid October then went out of town and didn't return until just before Christmas. Found entire unit had been sorted through and hundreds of items stolen including electric piano, two mt. Bikes lots of tools. The management here couldn't care less. The local police were called and took a report, but they never followed up. Even though we called several times. DO NOT STORE ANYTHING HERE YOU AREN'T WILLING TO LOSE!!! In moving our stuff out I talked with 2 other people who both had stuff stolen from their units here. No one monitors the video footage. No one checks on anything here. It makes me wonder if the owners aren't the people doing the stealing. read more

Pls don't support this Public storage site, it's the worse! It looks secure because it's in a building and you have a code to get in, but don't be fooled. Our storage has been burglarized 3x already and management hasn't done anything to secure this facility. Only camera is in the front, none in the hallways. We're not the only one that has been burglarized here... there's lots of people. Getting our stuff out of here...whatever's left. I'm hoping it's not an inside job...I believe in karma...I hope you thieves are reading this. These items are my brother's who passed away... how can you do this to him and people who are grieving? It's unfortunate when a company doesn't value a former customer's opinions. I've always used public storage but this is the first time I've felt unappreciated for my business. As you can see in the photo I provided, I scheduled a move-out date on September 18th and did so accordingly. Once October hit, I was being charged for that month. I had a conversation with the property manager about the fact that I left my lock that I had purchased from them thinking they might want it back. This was my assumption. Her rebuttal was trying to explain how they could've known that I did in fact move out; turns out some people schedule a move out through the app but then don't actually move. So she made the assumption that I didn't actually move out. If she has had this happen to her in the past, couldn't she have simply given me a phone call to verify that I in fact did move?? That would have been appreciated! Instead, she too MADE AN ASSUMPTION and decided I had not moved and waited until the next month for me to continue being charged. My question to them is, why in the world do you have an ONLINE check out process if you're going to ignore it?! I paid all of my payments on time since February of this year. All I asked was to receive one credit for the amount they were charging me for ASSUMING I had not moved out. And if this happens to you which I hope it doesn't, don't anticipate a swift customer service response. Given these unprecedented economic times, you would think they would appreciate their customers a bit more...well all I can say is that I will be one less customer they have to not appreciate because I'm definitely not utilizing their services. To you all, I recommend finding another storage facility where they care about their customers and have someone on site that could have answered all these questions to avoid this entire situation... read more

Easy to move in and rent, impossible to move out. Nobody answers or returns calls, local property manager is a ghost, does not exist. The charges continue indefinitely without an ability to cancel to speak to someone. By the way, the location has a broken elevator for weeks now, again, since the property manager is not there, I don't think they are aware of this. read more

On occasion before my payment would have been late I'd get a friendly reminder call from Peggy to pay before a late fee would occur. That is invaluable! Do not store anything of value at this place. My unit was broken into and the management had the damaged locks and all evidence of the burglary repaired before the police could even look at the unit. When the police officer asked to review the recording on the security system they said they were not authorized to give access, only the district manager could give access. Then there is the insurance. The insurance that they make you purchase is worthless. If you don't have receipts and pictures of everything you will get nothing! And, forget about getting in touch with the management. They never answer the phone. Oh, and these units get burglarized all the time,... just google it. read more

Don't come here guys! My storage unit was broken into and the lock was replaced by the thief. I've tried to call the property manager multiple times but he never respond. This is the worst storage unit that I've ever used. When I was traveling for work, I got a call from the local police department that my neighboring unit reported a theft and they found my stuff in their storage unit. After I came back from my travel, I tried to get into my storage unit but only found my lock is replaced with a new one so I don't have access to it. I tried to call the property manager again and again and left numerous messages, he never respond. Now I'm going to call the police department to get approval to find a locksmith to get into my own unit. read more

I received a check in the mail for $3. The clerk DID go ahead and sign me up for their insurance against my wishes and then cancelled it. I'm guessing he gets some kind of commission for signups. He should be FIRED for charging people for things they explicitly said they did not want. You can not pull this shit in America man! (note: most of my friends are Indian. I am not racist.) I was inconvenienced having to go cash my refund check when I never should have been charged in the first place as I was clear I did not want their insurance. I went with a friend who got a unit at the San Francisco location. His signup experience was far better than mine. No pressure at all to purchase their insurance. Not in the best part of the town. I still got a billing email even though I scheduled move out ahead of time. No one picked up the phone in the office, I have to contact customer service online to resolve it. Well, hopefully it is resolved as they said. And they simply kept raising the rent after you move in, betting you too lazy to move. I don't like that business practice. read more

It's crap! I currently come here and I have had the worst experience that you can possibly have with a storage facility. When you first move your stuff you realize that it's indoor which sounds good at first but then ou realize that the hallways are super small with units a long way away from an entrance, the floors are soo dirty, there is only one working elevator, 2 badly worn dollies, and the lights turn off while you are in there (huge safety issue!!!) It turned off 3 times while I was adding my stuff inside my unit and it's pitch black when they do turn off. I regret not getting an outdoor unit but now it would probably be more trouble to switch my stuff over than to leave it. I do not recommend as a storage unit!!! Staff was nice, however. read more

I'm not upset with them per se, but I haven't had the sunshiniest experience with them to date. I signed up for a storage room online, since that appears to be part of their promo. Sounds like a good deal for someone who's wired 24/7, right? Reserve online, bypass the phone call with the awkward upsell. Except they called me. I reserved it online Friday afternoon, with an appointment Sunday to sign the paperwork. I received 4 or 5 phone calls in the interim wanting to confirm my appointment. If I wanted to speak to you to make an appointment, I would have called the phone number, which was right next to the online reservation box. When I arrived, the man seemed to know it was me. "We called you," he said forlornly. "About that," I said. "I made the reservation and as you can see, I am here. I can understand a single reminder call, maybe two. But that was a little excessive, don't you think?" "We get pressured by management," was his response. He showed me the room I'd be renting before we got to the paperwork. After literally hammering the lock with his fist several times, he was able to open it and show me the storage space. We went back down to sign the paperwork and he seemed positively annoyed that I wanted to read everything before I signed. He urged me to skip to the bolded parts and insisted it was standard. I haven't seen the clause "Time is of the essence" used in a contract before - not sure what it means, but glad I read it all. The next form was rental insurance. Up top, there's a big disclaimer stating that I acknowledge the place has no liability for my belongings except for gross negligence, etc. It also urges me to purchase rental insurance and not to store anything worth more than $5000 in my unit. Then I notice there's no "decline" option. I basically have to sign up for a plan, even though I'm acknowledging my stuff is my responsibility. Plus, I have rental insurance. We go back and forth and I tell him I'm not buying. He tells me I can sign up and cancel and they'll refund my money. What if I don't want to give you my money in the first place, dude? Just rent me a unit! We finally get through the paperwork and he inspects my lock to make sure it's approved. He was incredibly nice at this point and helped me get it out of the insane Home Depot packaging. But there, the niceties stop. I distinctly remember loudly dropping something when moving later that day and glancing over at him on his computer, seeing him look at me and then return to what he was doing. The southerner in me was outraged - not even an "are you OK?" From time to time I have to remind myself that the way others do business is not the way *I* do business. Suffice it to say as soon as I can get out of this place, I plan on it. I have no reason to stay and if I find something cheaper, I'm taking it. read more

Upon vacating my unit, I requested a refund for the amount that was not used. I was told that this would be done within a matter of a few days and it was done as they said. The staff at the facility was very courteous and went out of their way to make sure I had all the information I needed to make sure my refund was issued in a timely manner. I had two different service experiences of varying quality at this location. The first time I was there during a weekday, and Peggy, the person on duty, was helpful and professional. The only thing I was disappointed about was that I was charged for the lock, and being a first-time storage renter I thought it was part of the rental. The day I wanted close out my account was a Saturday, and the manager on duty was out when I got there. The clock said that he would return in about 40 minutes, so I came back in 40 minutes and waited about an additional 15 minutes. I actually left the place when I saw him pull in and I turned around and went back. read more

I moved to Sunnyvale to open a start-up office. Office space was and is out of my budget. The staff at this location is always SO helpful with making sure my packages are well taken care of. Sometimes I will have 12+ packages delivered in a single day! I don't know what I would do without them! Not to mention they never get upset with my frequent requests for a phone call when my packages have arrived. this may be odd to praise a storage facility for, but I really appreciate the clean bathrooms too. read more

All storage facilities are not created equal! I needed an air-conditioned unit to store things that included oil paintings. Plus, I needed a place where a huge truck bringing among other things my little load of things across the country could pull into the parking lot, and where the managers would accept my things without my being there. This was the closest place and it was worth going a little out of my way, especially because the managers, Musharaf and Marisol, were very helpful, so that everything arrived safely and was neatly arranged in my unit when I arrived. It was also just nice to have A/C on a hot day, the place is spotless, and their dollies make moving things easy. read more

After reading other reviews I see that they push you to use their lock. This must be how my stuff was stolen. If you look on the back of the Public Storage lock there is a hole in the metal cover. No reputable lock should have a hole in the back cover!!!!! Do not get insurance because they need you to show forced entry. But there was no forced entry somehow they got into my locker and stole my Gary Fisher bike ($$$$), dishes, tools, telescope accessories. The people behind the desk are NO help. I've been using this storage site for years now for my father-in-laws keepsakes and we've never had a problem. No mold, leaking, or air conditioning not working. The main downside is that there is only one elevator and the hallways can be a bit narrow for putting in and pulling out larger pieces of furniture. Considering what it is (a low cost climate controlled unit) it's not bad. read more

Nice staff, good promos but the place is just one enclosed building with one entrance. All climate controlled but with one entrance and elevator it is not the most accessible. The small rooms are not very high quality. Not the nicest public storage. read more

HIgh rating is primarily due to the extra effort put in by one of the managers, Angela. She noticed that I did not lock my storage unit properly. Angela then arranged for Public Storage to notify me via e-mail and she also used about 8 locks linked together to lock my storage unit (one lock would not have been able to close it the way that it was set up, so she thought of this way which I suspect took quite a bit of time). I thought this was exceptional and really appreciated it so wanted to call it out. The rest of my experience with the storage unit has been fine - it's clean enough, is climate-controlled, and I have not any issues. One downside is that access isn't 24 hours (can access until 9pm at night) but it's also good in a way that I forced me to take care of things during reasonable hours. It has a restroom which is positive. But, again, I thought the actions of Angela really were worth calling out and recognizing. read more

So clean! I expected a storage building to have nasty scraps on the floor and chunks missing out of the walls from careless movers, but there was none of that. Everything was well maintained, especially the elevator which must take the heaviest abuse.Good lighting too. The elevator is huge and convenient to the front doors and nice carts are provided to haul your stuff. Access from the parking lot is easy. It is true as one reviewer mentioned that the halls are a little narrow for moving furniture, but I had only boxes and smaller smaller furniture. I did manage to fit my 12 foot windsurfer! I stored here for 6 1/2 years , was on auto-pay and had no issues once everything was set up. I will say that on sign-up the poor employees seems to be highly pressured by management to sell every possible extra, such as locks and insurance, even making it appear that you have no choice. But that was 6 1/2 years ago, of course. Once we got past that I had no problems with anyone I dealt with. In fact, upon vacating, Peggy was extremely helpful - made it easy to stop the auto-pay and suggested when best to vacate to avoid paying the next month. I actually used to look forward to coming here when I had to, just because of the quiet, the air conditioning and the nice bathroom. read more

I am primarily writing a good review for the property manager Mr. Musharraf. He was well informed, very helpful and went through all the details of the deal very patiently. The only thing I am not a fan of, is the policy of Public Storage - while they say that the first month is half off, there are many other hidden charges (initiation fees, fees for lock, mandatory insurance unless your renters insurance covers your storage) that your final cost ends up being the actual cost of the unit without the discount. These hidden charges took me by surprise. Other than that it is a clean facility and as advertised. read more
