I'm kicking myself for not seeing their horrendously restrictive hours prior to singing up for a unit here. THEY CLOSE AT 6:00 PM! And there's no after-hours access! You know, by the time most people get off of work and finally get out of traffic. They might as well flat out tell you they're going to take your money and that you need to take a day off work if you want to access your items at their facility. The facility is far too segmented and to even get to my unit I have to go through the main gate, go park outside the building where my unit is located, walk back to the front to check out a locked cart, walk back with the cart, input another code to get into the building with my unit, enter another code to get inside and then almost immediately to get down the hallway where my unit is located, I have to open another completely pointless firedoor that will not stay open, which is located INSIDE before finally reaching the roll up bay door to my unit. What a complete cluster _ _ _ _. And after a few months with auto-pay enabled they have the audacity to jack up my rent. I cannot wait to get out of here. read more

Was thrilled to get a small storage unit at an affordable price. Took advantage of the 50% off that was only available 11 miles away at the Sunnyvale site. The drive was easy and the location was newer and well maintained. I received several calls by at least 3-4 different representatives prior to our arrival on Saturday 9/3/22. There was an option to complete the entire process online and what a time saver it was. All was good until arriving at 845am Saturday morning. We could not enter the gate with the access code provided. That should have been the first sign that we were not gong to have access to our unit. Next, we could not get up to the 3rd floor. This is the 2nd red flag and issue we had. I tried calling the office and Customer service but was unlucky getting help. I had to wait until the site opened at 930am to ask for help. The representative came over right away to confirm we had access only to the 2nd floor and had to use her security code to allow up to the 3rd floor. Not exactly sure why the wrong floor was assigned and why our accessed was locked. I explained that we had this issue for over an hour and had to pick up our daughter by 930am. I don't like that the unit inside have wire on the roof in which anyone can break in cause anyone can cut the wire from another unit. Not all units have them. You have to let them know you want a unit that is normal close roof. With wire roofs they said they have alarms that no one can break in. Unless there's a professional hackers who can shut the alarms off lol. But if anyone tried to break in the front gets alarmed. Also, you are force to pay storage insurance plus, one time fee so ad that on to your unit price when you first open your storage. Read your contract. Be smart. I've had my rate up twice. And if you recieved the $1 special don't expect to get another unit with the dollar special. You can only use the $1 special ones. Most people do that special on storage hoppying so don't think you can move your things to a cheaper storage in the same facility under your name. Unless, you put it under someone else's name but they have to show ID and register it under there name. Liz is fair I've dealt with her she explains things how they work. read more

They raised my rate 4 times in the last 3 years... so I was paying 220% of my original rate. I usually don't write reviews, but the way Public Storage takes advantage of you really deserves some negative sentiment. Moved in toward the end of 2020 and it was only 5 months after my move-in date I received my first increase of 10%. 9 months later, they increased it 32% (of the new price). another 9 months later, they increased it 31% (again of the new price). Then finally 12 months later, they increased it 15% (again of the new price). Yeah, I know, I should have left after the first 30% hike. It's such a scam. read more

Additionally the website says gate access hours are 6AM-9PM as shown in the attached picture, but the banner on the gate today (03/30/2019) said access is limited to 9:30AM-5PM Saturday Sunday only. They keep changing access hours without telling the tenants. My husband and I have had a storage unit with the Public Storage at 1060 Stewart Drive in Sunnyvale, CA for about one year, now. We accessed the unit a few months after beginning our lease. We owned two sets of washers and dryers. We were about to sell one set. We pulled them into the aisle so that we could conduct our sale. Tammy came into the aisle where we were and informed us that we needed to clear the aisle. I said, "Okay. Please give us a second. We're going to return everything into the storage unit. But, it will take a bit of time because these things are heavy." She kept coming at us, stating that she needed to check the lock on the unit next to us. We were NOT blocking this unit. Sidebar: I am not this kind of black woman...I don't throw out race just for the purposes of raising eyebrows. There was another lady, who had pulled her items into the aisle. She was Caucasian. Nothing was said to her, at all. Hmm. Is this a coincidence? Forging ahead to two weeks ago: My husband went into the facility to replace our lock. I had received multiple phone calls asking if we could come and replace our lock. I was in school and I worked. By the time my day was done, the facility was either closed or I just forgot. My husband works, as well. He goes in to replace the lock. He is told that he can't replace the lock with our lock. He has to purchase a $19.99 lock that is available for purchase. He went and accessed the unit with no problem because it was unlocked, completely. I call into the property and I'm told the same thing (we need to purchase this $19.99 lock in order to secure our unit). I ask why we weren't told this when my phone was being blown up to come in to replace this lock. No one had an answer. I asked for the contact information of the District Manager. I emailed this man on July 3rd, 2022. I informed this DM who's apparently a secret agent, that if we had to purchase a $19.99 lock, we were ending our lease with this property and going somewhere else. We already had our rent raised by $30 + dollars. NO response...none. So, we kept our promise. We made the decision to leave this location. I called into the office to confirm what needed to be done to empty our unit. Tatiana inquired as to why I wanted to terminate my lease. I told her about the $19.99 lock debacle. She told me that we did not have to purchase this $19.99 lock if we did not want to. I informed her that my husband spent a great deal of time at that property being told something different. She (Tatiana) wanted to fix the situation and make it right. I told her that at this point, we were over it and just wanted to leave. Today, my husband goes to the unit to empty it with a friend. Magically, this unit now has TWICE the protection. The first visit, there were zero locks. Now, there are two? He went into the office to ask that the locks be removed so that he could empty the unit. He was told, "No." He calls me and gives me the rundown of the new and improved fuckery. So, I call into the office and had to speak with Tammy . She tells me that my husband (while on the account) is not an account holder. I have to come into the office to have the locks removed. I inquired as to why they were placed. She stumbled over this question and never answered it. I tell this woman that I suffered an awful accident and I have a broken ankle and badly sprained knee. I'm wearing a hinged brace that extends from my upper thigh to my ankle. I cannot walk. She accuses me of yelling at her and I quickly inform her that I'm in my bathroom. So, she proceeds to scream at me. I asked her if she was in the bathroom, too. She ignored this query. Anyway, she tells me to email the District Manager. I informed her that I already did that, about two weeks ago. She proceeds to yell that, "He was on a vacation, which he's allowed to do!!" She wanted to give me another email. I said, "This is ridiculous" and hung up the phone. I called my husband and told him to come and get me. I am barely moving. I am in excruciating agony; but, I clearly needed to walk in to Public Storage to have TWO locks removed that were only placed AFTER I decided to terminate our lease. The gentleman who was forced to place the locks (today), was the same gentleman who walked with my husband and told him that he felt like crap when he saw that I had to come into that office (in pain) for nothing. This was deplorable. This is the WORSE customer service experience I have ever had. Public Storage brings with it a certain reputation. Today, that reputation is crumbling. Tammy is a horrible person. She needs to be terminated, right along with my lease. She is grossly unprofessional, rude, and downright mean. What she did was unforgivable. I wish that we had enough money to help her purchase a personality and some compassion for people (of all races). read more

This Public Storage location is perfect. It's low-key, large in land space, close to home and of most importantly, great customer service. I'd like to thank Morgan, Mike, and Stephen for doing an excellent job in helping me purchase my first storage space. From the beginning to the end, the process was smooth and easy. Stephen and Mike showed me my 6x10 storage space, they helped me how to use the codes to get into the lot, and provided me with a key & lock for my storage. The paperwork application was quick! Stephen made sure I understood each dotted line and took the time to explain simple instructions with the financial aspect. He answered all my questions and didn't skip a step. He also printed me hard-copies because he knew I liked extra backup for proof. The crew here is fantastic and friendly! I cannot wait to start moving in my family's junk into my new storage space. I went in to the office today at 9:30 to pay my unit rent and I asked Tatiana what time they opened the restroom and she said the restroom by the elevators was open and I asked what time she was opening this one by the office and she ignored me. So I go in gate and go to the restroom and it's locked so 9:40 so the other lady Tammy comes and unlocks it but the one bathroom is clogged and the other has no toilet paper or potty covers. If you are going to designate one restroom for the people who pay the bills there and for you to have a position there to work, be courteous and keep them clean and stocked and unlocked! read more

I never rented out a storage space before, but when I realized I was on the slow path to becoming a hoarder, I realized I had to get rid of everything and anything large that I had to keep for future use, should go in storage. Of course, the first go to place is Public Storage. I went online and there was very detailed info on there. With my washer and dryer, extra mattress, and a few boxes, the site recommended a 5x10 storage box for me, which normally goes for $97/month. I called around to other places too, but I was playing with their online site and if you change the options around, you can stumble upon really good deals! I found a PS closest to my new place that had a 6x10 going for less than a normal 5x10 for only $84/month and first month for $1 AND it was on the first floor! It was PERFECT! I reserved it online and almost immediately, I got a call from Kelly, the manager at that branch and she was very friendly and accommodating. She asked what time I'd move in so she can make sure someone is there for me. She was a pleasure to deal with and made moving a lot easier for me. I also got a confirmation email with all the details. The day of the move, I came in and was helped by Angela. She greeted me and asked me if I was Alina so she was expecting me. She quickly showed me to my storage room, the facilities were very clean and tidy and there was another gentleman making rounds to make sure everything was secure. She got the paperwork together quickly and recommended the best lock and explained in through detail the pricing and how I was going to get billed, etc. She was a little out of it cause she was sick, but she still managed to give good service and that's dedication going in to work when she wasn't feeling too well and I could tell she wasn't all there cause she was sick. I asked for her name so I could let you Yelpers know how great she is and I told her she gave excellent service. Moving can be a total nightmare, but PS made the transition as seemless and easy as possible. Short story: General customer service is rude and rates are not guaranteed. Long story: My review is just for the company in general. I called their general number and got the rudest treatment. I wanted to know if their price would go up after I moved in. I wanted to avoid moving in and getting a price hike right after as mentioned in some reviews. The man wouldn't give me an answer. He said he had to know the exact unit I was interested in first. What a ridiculous answer. I said I just want to know if prices go up after move in or if I would be guaranteed the same rate for a certain amount of time. He accused me of not answering his question and giving him the run around. So I just randomly pick a unit size and then he asks what I'm storing. I said toys and decorations, arts and crafts from my studio. And again still he won't answer my question, saying they are on a month-to-month basis. Well, there are other companies and they guarantee the rate for a year. He talks trash about them locking me in etc. which isn't true. Then he asks me leading questions like if I was going to do work in there. So I'm like, um, I guess, if you call organizing stuff work. So he tells me off that I'm not allowed to do work in there. I'm like, no one wants to do work in a storage unit. You are kidding me. Who wants to spend time sitting in a storage unit? What a rude jerk. First off, I did not want to get a quote but he kept wanting to sign me up and then after, he tells me off to go ahead and look for other company. read more

Moving is a hassle but the ladies at Public Storage on Stewart made it delightful. Seriously. I was starving. I had been packing all night and the movers arrived first thing in the morning ready to go. By the time we got to Public Storage, I was drained. Believe it or not, but Laura then offered to SHARE HER LUNCH WITH ME!!! Yes! She went in the back, brought back three ample sized lunch meat/tortilla rolls plus fresh strawberries and water. NOW THAT'S GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND. Thank you Karla & Laura for making my moving day a bit more enjoyable. Thank you also for offering storage insurance and not pushing when I mentioned that my policy already covers storage. This was an enjoyable experience all around. Noteworthy: the facility's security. You have to punch in your individual access code to enter the lot, then also to call the elevator. Best of all, you only have access to your floor. Each time I have been, there are always carts available to help you transport items from your trunk to the elevator. Very convenient. If you need to store items, I don't think it can get any better than a climate controlled new construction building with restricted access. read more
