DO NOT RENT AT 2797 SCOTT BLVD EXTRA STORAGE IN SANTA CLARA! I had been renting a unit at Extra Storage for 5 years. The last time I had gone to check up on my storage was in September 2023. On February 5 2024, I was oddly unable to open my own lock. After many attempts I couldn't open it, I had to ask the employees to cut the lock. Upon opening my storage, I discovered that all my belongings were stolen and only MY storage was ransacked! Shoes, clothing and purses and other personal items were stolen from me. I couldn't get help from the police or management of this storage property. They only save one week's worth of surveillance, there are no cameras inside of the storage building and they do not keep track of who comes in and out of the property! Please do not rent a storage unit here, they will not help you in the case that anything gets stolen. This was how my storage was left. read more

Never rent storage unit from Extra Storage-Santa Clara (2797 Scott Blvd, Santa Clara). We recently found out that our storage unit was robbed and everything we had stored there for years was stolen. Our lock wasn't even broken. A person from the street cannot enter there without a code, it seems like an inside job. There were no apologies from the office staff. I have never met such detached and indifferent people. They don't care about you, your things, and they won't answer for anything. They don't have cameras inside the building, but they do have them outside and only keep them for a week. We were told they checked the cameras, but I'm sure they didn't. I will write bad reviews about them everywhere so that people avoid them and don't lose all their stuff like we did. If you rent storage unit here, be prepared to regret it. So far we're really impressed with our move to Extra Storage. After having endless rate increases with dirty grounds at Public Space for a few years, we were at our wit's end with their management & lack of communication. We did some research and decided to make the change to Extra Storage. Jesse & Alyssa, the on-site managers, are extremely helpful, and always easy to find. We loved the fact that they keep such a great on on the premises :) The facilities and grounds are immaculately clean, and the facilities were thoughfuly laid out (nobody has to do a 30-point turn to get a moving van back out!!). I came here after moving back from LA and needed a small storage for a short period of time. Terra and Rusty we're soo helpful and always friendly! The space was clean and although on the 2nd level was super easy to access! If you do get a space on the 2nd floor you can ask to use a cart to shorten your trips up and down they just ask for an ID to hold. Overall I'd definitely recommend this storage place, the prices are definitely affordable, the area is safe,everything is gated with code access and the units and location it self is super clean. If you care about your belongings, please look elsewhere. As the last person mentioned, my unit was also broken into management and corporate do not care and only said, "well do you have insurance?" Honestly, it seems like an inside job. My lock was not even broken. Had an officer come out and she also couldn't figure out how else they may have gotten into the unit. I told them I wanted to move out because I didn't think my belongings were safe and they said fine as long as it's before my next due date. Rushed to get my things out by a certain time. However, there are no dumpsters or trash cans on site. Was told if I left things behind, I'd be charged a fee, considering I'm only moving out because my things were stolen because they do not keep units safe. You would think as a courtesy they would wave the fee, but no they did not care. Seem more money hungry and inconsiderate of the situation. There are cameras only on the outside of the facility, and they only go back a week, which is very convenient for them, especially if people don't frequent their unit. STAY AWAY!! read more

The day after I posted my earlier review (Oct 7), I received an email indicating my rent would only increase by 24%. This was clearly much better than increasing my rent by 70%. I was still a bit upset that just 8 months in to my lease, they were raising my rent- and 24% still felt like too much to me- but I was thankful for the reduction. I still intended to move out within a couple months. However, a couple days ago I received a call from the office manager who shared that she had been away for a couple months and a lot of things had happened while she was away. She told me they decided NOT to raise my rent and to credit me next month for the additional rent I already paid for this month. This took me by surprise, as I had already found another place to move into... but now I don't have to! Which is awesome! I'm grateful! read more

Storage is ok - not happy with management being friendly when signing the contract, promising to have a system in place for payment reminders (you know, automatic emails like the rest in 21 century) even offering to call before issuing late fees. Yet they have no issue setting up an automatic system for late fee notifications, like the one I just got. 1 star read more

It's pretty great. The place is older, there's no climate control, the lighting isn't great in some units, and the elevators are only for objects. BUT! It's safe, clean, free of pests, and very well kept. The people are really nice and the prices are very affordable. I'm paying 1/3 less for 2x the space, as my old unit. They even have a big truck you can borrow to move your stuff in. We haven't had a single complaint and honestly happily sacrifice unnecessary frills for the cheap rent. Highly recommend this place!!! I'd have given 5 stars, if they were just open a little later. read more

I have used this facility for almost 10 years. I recently looked at 7 other facilities close to my office but this place is still completely priced. In addition, it is clean, well lit inside the units, the grounds are maintained and the staff is over the top helpful. They listened to what I thought I needed to change, offered a few options and found me a better unit on the grounds near my original unit to make the change easier. read more

Not a minute after leaving my car I was rudely chased off for parking there...attendant didn't even ask if I wanted to see the facilities. They lost my business. I have little patience for upfront rudeness. Follow Up: Either the employee who posted the follow-up is thinking about someone else or he is blatantly lying to cover his misstep. The parking lot was almost empty. My buddy's business is RGHT NEXT DOOR. I don't even know what is across the street. But in a battle of he said/she said...the one fighting the hardest is the one with the most to lose...and I have many other options. read more

My wife and I were worried about putting almost all of our stuff into storage but once we toured this place Rusty and Terra put our minds at ease. The place is clean and well lit and it's also gated. BEWARE!! This review has no reflection on employees Jessie and his wife Liz. They have always been honest straight forward with me these past two years. But recently due to lack of screening employees more efficiently, my Cadillac Escalade was stolen off property, along with units being broken into, during business hours while other employees were on site. Defeating the purpose of cameras in the lobby and around site. Contacted corporate office and have not even received a call back. Horrible company to give business to. I have rented storage at Extra Storage for almost 4 years, and the service has been stellar! The managers have always been extremely helpful and nice, the price is great, security is great, it's basically the ideal place to store those extra items (for me it was office items when I changed jobs, plus some 2 house-hold-into-one excess furniture). I will continue to use this facility, and will get a larger unit if (when?) needed. Regarding CK's negative review, just ignore it. Pros - Initially the cheapest place around. People in the office were super nice and friendly; especially Shannon. Cons - When I signed up, I heard a lady loudly complaining about her rent having been raised quite a bit without her knowledge (I guess she didn't check her email). Due to this, I paid attention and yep, within a mere 4 months, I received an email, stating that the rent would be raised by - are you ready? - almost 40%! Yes, from $82, to $112. I consider this so shady and unethical that I immediately went in and cleared out my unit. Beware, these guys seem to be doing this frequently - catch you with low rates and raise them within a couple months. read more

I purchased an industrial high quality pad lock from them cheaper than I could have bought retail. Very secure, gated, and requires password for entry. The rates for this storage facility go up frequently. I've had the storage unit for 1.5 years and I've had 3 increases - a total of 19%. This was not known to me when I signed up. I was told that it would continue to go up by ~10% every 6 months. I also have a unit at Public Storage in San Jose (on Santa Teresa) for the past 1.5 years and the rate has never gone up. I'm completely disappointed and I would not recommend them to anyone read more

I have been renting here for 2-3 years. Bottom line: - Good prices - Helpful staff - Easy payment options - Great security The prices are competitive and the staff are helpful. I once left a ton of stuff in one of the elevators (a blonde moment) and the staff put it in a safe place. They went out of their way to use their exit/entry records to figure out who it was. UPDATE: Like I mentioned in my review. I offered to pay the full rate the day before moving out, they refused. I offered to pay full month. I offered to pay for new lock. I paid as mentioned. The only day I was treated like a customer at Extra Storage was the day that I disposed of the couch (and the last day I would step foot on their site). EXTRA STORAGE DID NOT DISPOSE OF THE COUCH. I was told by staff "I am ashamed an SCU alum would behave this way." This does not sound like a professional way to approach a customer. Overall, I paid for every day I was at extra storage. I took all storage items off their property. I will never recommend their location to anyone. THERE ARE TOO MANY STORAGE UNITS IN THE AREA TO SETTLE FOR THIS LOCATION. read more

We had a storage unit for at least three years if not longer. There were times where the managers needed to work with us, but it always got paid. They were nice enough at those times. When we were taking things out of this unit recently, it was decided on the spur of the moment to just take everything out as they seemed to continually be raising the rent. Since there wasn't that much to take out anyway, we just took it all out. The account was under my daughter's name but us, the parents, paid for it. We had the key, the numbers needed, etc. The manager (man) came around to ask us exactly what we were doing when we arrived there but we were vague in our answer because we really didn't think he needed to know what we were doing but we understood his asking. He left and never returned. We made two trips and everything was out. Not much stuff. The man came back, looked over what we had done and called my daughter in a not-so-nice tone and said, 1) it was up to her to be there and not us even though my husband's name was on the contract, 2) that we left the door up to the unit and the lock on the ground which was not true according to my husband who had close it but not locked it, 3) that he came back a few times and asked what we were doing and not getting an answer which was not true and, 3) why weren't we giving the 10 day notice we were supposed to be giving. Doing something as simple as making an impromptu decision as "let's just get everything out instead of taking half and leaving half", was just that, a quick decision. I think security and privacy is important, more so today than ever, but I think these people go WAY OVERBOARD. While we were going to re-rent another unit later this year for just our things, we WILL NOT be doing it at this place. We had just paid our rent so they received a whole month's payment without reimbursement. Cha-Ching!!! I didn't like this place as a result of the man's insistence on what we were doing, why we were doing it and his lying to my daughter. This is a storage unit for God's sake. He received his unreimbursed money, why cry about it?? Never again from them. read more
