We had a storage unit for at least three years if not longer. There were times where the managers needed to work with us, but it always got paid. They were nice enough at those times. When we were taking things out of this unit recently, it was decided on the spur of the moment to just take everything out as they seemed to continually be raising the rent. Since there wasn't that much to take out anyway, we just took it all out. The account was under my daughter's name but us, the parents, paid for it. We had the key, the numbers needed, etc. The manager (man) came around to ask us exactly what we were doing when we arrived there but we were vague in our answer because we really didn't think he needed to know what we were doing but we understood his asking. He left and never returned. We made two trips and everything was out. Not much stuff. The man came back, looked over what we had done and called my daughter in a not-so-nice tone and said, 1) it was up to her to be there and not us even though my husband's name was on the contract, 2) that we left the door up to the unit and the lock on the ground which was not true according to my husband who had close it but not locked it, 3) that he came back a few times and asked what we were doing and not getting an answer which was not true and, 3) why weren't we giving the 10 day notice we were supposed to be giving. Doing something as simple as making an impromptu decision as "let's just get everything out instead of taking half and leaving half", was just that, a quick decision. I think security and privacy is important, more so today than ever, but I think these people go WAY OVERBOARD. While we were going to re-rent another unit later this year for just our things, we WILL NOT be doing it at this place. We had just paid our rent so they received a whole month's payment without reimbursement. Cha-Ching!!! I didn't like this place as a result of the man's insistence on what we were doing, why we were doing it and his lying to my daughter. This is a storage unit for God's sake. He received his unreimbursed money, why cry about it?? Never again from them. read more

A total bait and switch operation. As if no bill reminder and excessive penalties weren't enough, they increased my monthly rate by over 60% without warning.. read more

UPDATE: Like I mentioned in my review. I offered to pay the full rate the day before moving out, they refused. I offered to pay full month. I offered to pay for new lock. I paid as mentioned. The only day I was treated like a customer at Extra Storage was the day that I disposed of the couch (and the last day I would step foot on their site). EXTRA STORAGE DID NOT DISPOSE OF THE COUCH. I was told by staff "I am ashamed an SCU alum would behave this way." This does not sound like a professional way to approach a customer. Overall, I paid for every day I was at extra storage. I took all storage items off their property. I will never recommend their location to anyone. THERE ARE TOO MANY STORAGE UNITS IN THE AREA TO SETTLE FOR THIS LOCATION. read more

Today, I was helping my friend move stuff into her storage. even thoe some difficultlies accrued staff member Elena was very helpful and made sure our problem were solved. :) best place to keep your storage. it's secure, protected, and have very helpful staff :) read more

Only my second month with this company but I have been impressed with the customer service and professionalism of the staff. Today I called to see about my payment( ETF? Or not). Tasha was very kind and told me how to pay after hours and exactly where the box was located on the building. Zero snark and very kind- which is SO rare these days! Plus, the buildings are very clean and well kept. Would recommend to all needing some storage at reasonable rates. Tig read more

This place is awesome. Jesse and Alyssa are great people with fantastic customer service. I would definitely recommend this place.

Pros - Good price for the space. Cons - The manager (Shannon) is not easy to deal with. Read the contract carefully as it's a scam for not pro-rating the unit if you move out early, even when you give them more than a month of advance notice. Billing is not clear. read more

Great customer service and very helpful! Also at peace with belongings feeling secured.

Just amazing I love the managers, Jason and Shannon so nice and helpful if I can give more stars I would. Clean and safe and good price!!

I will never store my belongings anywhere else. The nicest people run this facility. Very clean and everything is in great shape here.

We were moving residences in the bay area and needed a place to store our stuff for several months. Extra Storage wasn't the closest to me, but based on the reviews I picked it and I'm so glad I did. Getting our storage unit was easy and painless. Everyone there was friendly and helpful whenever I had questions or needed something. The unit itself was easy to access and getting to use their truck while moving our stuff into the unit was an extra bonus. When it came time to move our things out they were just as helpful and courteous as before. If your looking for a storage anywhere in the area I highly recommend Extra Storage in Santa Clara. read more

Excellent service and affordable prices. Rusty was very helpful with my storage needs.

I had such a great experience at this storage facility! All the staff here are so friendly and willing to help out in any way they can to ensure that you get the most positive storage facility environment possible. I was able to borrow their moving truck for free, as long as I used it within the first week of moving into my new storage unit and filled it back up with the gas that I used while borrowing it. It was very helpful to me since I did have quite a bit of stuff. They even gave me my very first month half off! Their rates are super competitive! They were actually the lowest costing storage I was able to find in all of Santa Clara. If you're looking for a great, convenient and affordable storage option then this is your place! Ask them about borrowing their dolly and flat bed rollers for easy transferring of you belongings directly into your storage unit. It will help get your stuff in much quicker. All you have to do is leave them your ID at the front desk when you request to borrow it. Then simply return it to them to get your ID back. And don't forget to purchase a pad lock that functions to lock only if the key is turning it. This will insure that you never accidentally lock your storage keys in the unit by mistake. I believe they sold me one for around 10 bucks. It's such a life saver. If you want a quality storage facility then give them a call or go in personally to get started. Its quick and easy with absolutely no hidden fees or insurance obligations. They're super nice, good people there and will serve you right! Enjoy! read more

Extra Storage has the best prices around!! Amazing staff and easy payment options. Highly recommend getting your storage here.

I was referred here by a friend and am happy I rented from them. They were able to accommodate me with a unit the same day I came in. Helpful staff, good prices, clean units! read more

We love everything about this place!!! We recently moved from Southern Ca from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment so we needed something spacious but didn't have a lot of extra spending money to pay for a storage monthly. I looked around and Extra Storage was by far the cheapest price for what we needed. When we went in to sign the lease, the staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. The area is always clean and easy to get in and out when we go there. We could not be happier :) read more

This storage facility is fabulous! Granted I don't have much else to compare it to. I paid $98/month for a decent sized unit that fit lots. I stored: a queen size bed (complete set), a three person couch, chair, small coffee table, small tv stand, nightstand, two medium boxes, 2 decent sized paintings, and a floor lamp. Not only was it cheap, the owners were incredibly kind. Very personable too! I highly recommend this storage facility if you're in the need for storing belongings. I only left bc I didn't need the stuff anymore. Otherwise I'd stay with them! :) read more

People working there very helpful and responsive. Some miscommunication about some services over the phone, but they were very helpful in moving forward. Cheap pricing, not much to complain about! read more

I appreciate the professionalism and emphasis on security of this establishment. Their recommendations and processes help to ensure our storage unit is locked and safeguarded. they are also professional and responsive. We've had nothing but a good experience thus far. read more

Great Staff, central location, good facility. Had my stuff there for 6 months while finding a new place and would recommend.

I really like this facility. When I first walked in it was because I was actually on my way to another storage facility, but I got the wrong place. Well, the staff was so friendly and so helpful - and not mention probably the most affordable storage in town - that I stayed. They are great. I signed a year-contract, so my rent won't go up, and I am quite happy. Overall, very friendly atmosphere. The only downside is the hours. The opening time is nice (7), but the closing time (7) can sometimes be a little too early. If we need something, we just have to plan to grab it ahead of time. I would definitely recommend this. read more

I feel I am always getting caught with late fees at this unit. I was just charged a $10 late fee and a $15 pre-lien fee. In total that is $25.00 for an $88.00 small unit. The bill is due 20th of the month so this is not even 30 days past due. Does anyone see what scam this is. This is shark like behaviour. When I complained to the manager this morning he told me it is my job to pay my bill on time. That's a real nice attitude so I would like to warn customer to check these rates. I guess it's his job to work on collecting all those extra fees. read more

Its a nice local storage as oppose to a large chain. Great prices so if it is convenient location I say go for it if you live within "bankers hrs". I would like later closing times but then again it is cheaper! read more

My boyfriend and I were in desperate need of storage space. We don't have much, but we want to hold on to what we do have. We saw an add off the side of 82 El Camino Real that said $20 for your first month's rent! We were all over that because we were barely making ends meet. We arrived at the office of this unnamed storage place and they were completely full. We went to another storage place, and another, when we found extra storage. The husband and wife team behind the counter were great. Their level of customer service was friendly and inviting. They heard our needs for storage, and they were able to accommodate for half price. They made our experience painless and carefree. Thank you Extra Storage Santa Clara! read more

Staff are very nice, place seemed clean. Interior storage unit I was shown did not seem adequately secure. Large gaps in the ceiling/rafters that barely seem to separate the unit from the general hallway. Anyone with access and a ladder could easily take a peek from the hallway and peruse since I did not notice any video cameras in the general hallway area. The 2 other units were exterior-entry units, one of which had similar conditions to the previously mentioned unit, the other entirely secure in the ceiling area. Didn't feel this was the most secure storage facility. read more

I had a great experience with this place. I just needed storage between a move. The price was good, the check-in process was easy and the service was great. No complaints. read more

I recently rented a 10x9 storage unit here after researching a dozen other local storage facilities online. By far the best price ($75/mo). Jason and Shannon took over the facility about a year ago (so disregard any yelp reviews before 2011) and have surpassed my expectations. The unit was clean and in good shape, they offered a free moving truck or to cover the $29.99 I would pay for a UHAUL, and I've experienced excellent customer service. Overall, Extra Storage comes highly recommended. Check them out. read more

Don't get me wrong, they are by far the cheapest place I could find. I had a 4x4 unit for $38 a month. First month was 1/2 off, but they do charge a $15 first time fee, so the discount came out to be a wash. After 3 months ( I always paid my rent on time), they sent a letter saying increase rent from $38 to $58, ok fine, even though their website says it's $48 a month. After another 2 months plus 4 days of that I moved my stuff, and they wouldn't prorate/refund the rest of the 26days of rent back. I though most storage places would to that, at first they said no because I was over the 7-day refund window, then I showed them how my pay period starts at the 20th of every month and it was 24th when I moved out. Then they said they just recently changed their policy, no refund at all, and told me to call back to talk to the manager. I tried calling back and every time it was always the same, manager not here, call back later. read more

I don't even want to give this place one star. I was happy with this place until today. Been renting a storage unit here for 2 yrs. I got yelled at and threaten for opening up my own storage unit. I had lost my key and put on a new lock. It's says no where in the contract nor are there any signs up saying that you can not cut your own lock to replace it with a new one. I'm a paying customer who pays every month. I can see if I didn't pay and was trying to get in. But, that wasn't the case. Poor customer service. There's a professional way of apporching a customer rather then yelling at them, causing a seen and threatening them. The employee should have just calming talked to me and should have said next time please come tell the office first. Also, the employee acted like I was going to steal out of other people's unit. I WOULD NEVER do that! Plus there are cameras up everywhere. Just cause the employee is probably an ex con doesn't mean I am. Please be careful with this place. You should store your stuff somewhere else. Believe me it's worth it to pay the extra money a month somewhere else where you are respected and treated nicely. I'll be taking my stuff out of this place ASAP. I will also be reporting this business to a higher athority. The employee Jason is rude, unprofessional and I have seen him treat other costumers rudely too. Especially when the costumer ask's for help or has a question. I see that other Yelpers complained about him too. Again, don't store anything here unless you want to be treated poorly and be treated like your money isn't green. read more

This place stinks..I have been renting here for at least 2 1/2 yrs there used to be a couple running this place and they were so nice until late last year that I found out that there's new people running the place Jason a guy who works here is just plain rude and very incompetent about the job...how could he run this place when you ask him something he's answer to you will always be NO....I had been paying rent for the past 2yrs online and for some reason when I tried to sign on online im getting trouble signing in, I had click forgot password and retrieve it to my email when I signed back in it still not letting me, I know I did not put in an incorrect password so I called the storage and when Jason answered of course he does not know. His also not willing to help at all so I had asked him if there someone who works there who can probably help me he said that the person who can help me was at lunch..sooooo rude didn't even offer to tell me that there is actually someone that can help but just out of the office...no work ethics.... read more
