I have 2 storage units and I have stored here at the Memorex facility for a few years, if not longer. I have delt with Ernesto almost every time that I pay my rent. I have never, ever been treated poorly, or has he ever been rude to me. In fact I feel the need to express how professional and very helpful he has been and I would have to say every time that I have interacted with him. Giving credit where credit is due. We have had a unit here for years. When they had plumbing issues for a week and a half, they never refunded the money when we couldn't get into our storage. Now we can't get in again, the computer code says, 02/01/25 7:23 p.m. and it is 02/02/25 8:00 a.m. Eight different customers here this morning in line trying to get in just in the very short time that we have been here. People tried to put their code in and it doesn't respond. The big doors to the units are down, so even if someone hopped the fence, people can't get into their storages. Absolutely no emergency number either. read more

The handy man Vincent was yelling at me using racial slurs. I went to the storage I am a disabled I was sitting in my van after 20 minutes because I started feeling dizzy. The handyman came and started yelling at me saying I had been there for 2 hours. I went to the office to show Ernesto which showed I was there for a half hour. The handyman came up behind me started screaming I was evicted for loitering. Eduardo promptly evicted me not before the handyman challenge me to a fight and threaten me. Good news the handyman Vincent has been fired let go according to Annette at delacruz. I'm now seeking legal assistance I don't think Ernesto will be there too long either will probably be with Vincent soon out of a job read more

I don't have much to compare them to, but I've been a happy El Camino Self Storage customer for about 2 years now. When I was shopping around, I was inundated with the pricing at other self-storage companies (admin fees and sanctioned locks). I have a 3rd floor unit and never had any problems. Freight elevators are always working, carts are always available, gate access hours are reasonable, bathrooms always clean, etc. Signing up for a unit the first time can be a little confusing since (at the Memorex location) you have to call the office to get them to open the front gate to get to the office. I suspect there is a symbiotic relationship with ECSS and some of the RVs/homeless people nearby, but there's never been trouble that I've seen. Most of all, the monthly prices are super reasonable. I recommend ECSS to anyone who's looking! read more

I'm new to renting from this vendor at the Memorex Drive location, but the desk clerk / office manager was very pleasant and helpful. There was little "fuss nor muss" in signing the contract, and he generously showed me to my locker location twice. I had reserved a 2nd floor unit online, but wanted to see it before committing. I've reserved at the De La Cruz location also. Both facilities appear to have more than ample security, are clean and well-lit, and have restrooms. Also, both have quite generous hours. They're easy to access (but with entry security at both locations.) I'd recommend. read more

During Covid-19 times, I called them and reserved storage online since their prices were great. But unfortunately, no one called to confirm my space. I went there in-person to pay and I was able unable to do so because the gates were locked. My car was full of things. Definitely not recommended. Public Storage was much easier, but expensive. read more

I have been meaning to write this review since I moved my stuff out in September. I would not recommend this storage experience to anyone. There must have been some rats or other rodents that got into my unit because my head and footboard were covered in claw marks and scratches. Further, my cardboard boxes must have been peed on because my pillows stored within were covered in urine. I stored my stuff here because I cared about it and wanted to keep it nice and protected, not because I wanted my stuff ruined and to be thrown away.... Which is what unfortunately occurred. I am extremely disappointed in this experience and I would not recommend storing here to anyone. read more

I have read some of the reviews and they must have gone to a different place.. I have rented from this company for many , many years... I went to them today to rent a second storage unit temporary (april 3rd) and I found the women behind the desk helpful and very professional.. she mentioned their promotion 1/2 off for the first 4 months... she asked if I wanted a ground floor level... and showed me the new storage unit... which is a different part of the building .. she gave me a tour the new area and how to get easy access to this area... all in all the place is clean and very safe from all the tv monitors... and yes for the first visit it could be challenging but its worth it.. their prices for storage units is very good .. all in all I recommend them... read more

I just moved out of my unit yesterday because I simply don't have a need for it any more. I liked storing my things here when it was needed. The place is clean, well-maintained, secure and the hours of access are very reasonable. Their rates are as good as you will find. All the staff is very friendly and happy to help when needed and always with a good attitude. If I need a storage facility again, I will definitely be returning to El Camino Self Storage and I highly recommend you call them first. In 2 1/2 years I stored my things there, I never had one problem. I have spoken with Trish in the office several times and she is always as happy, friendly and helpful as you will find from when she got my new unit set up, to answering questions while I had my unit and when I checked out yesterday. I have to add, after reading other's reviews: 1.) After 2 1/2 years there and per my observations, I never saw so much as a dead insect or any evidence of any bugs or rodents - nothing. The place is kept clean and orderly. I never had anything damaged while in storage. 2.) People, if you are signing up for a storage locker - you KNOW there is going to be a monthly fee. If for some reason you don't get a bill that you think you should have received, you probably need to be a responsible adult and call to check your unit's status or make a payment. They go over it all with you when you sign up anyway - pay attention! They have a payment system that is fast and easy - one quick phone call and you're done. Don't give a place a bad review because you didn't pay attention when you were signing up. That is your fault, not El Camino Storage's fault. 3.) Their current hours of access are 6am - 10pm. Again, when you sign up for your unit, they go over this with you and clearly point out hours of access - pay attention. If those hours don't work for you, then don't get on here and complain that their hours of access don't meet your schedule or " I thought gate hours were........" - well you thought wrong - that is your fault, not El Camino Storage's fault. Make a note of the access hours in your phone for reference and you will have no problems. Listen, when you sign up for your unit - PAY ATTENTION and listen to the details they will tell you and you won't have any problems. This place is clean, secure and operated by friendly, helpful staff who speak English as good as you are going to find - I didn't understand that complaint either. Yelpers - stop giving bad reviews because YOU didn't follow the rules or YOU messed up, didn't pay attention, or have completely unrealistic expectations of every business you deal with - STOP IT - I see it all the time on Yelp and it's ridiculous. Good grief - stop looking for bad things to say or complaining about everywhere you go just for the sake of complaining! Try waking up on the other side of the bed or something. I would love to give them a better review however my recent experience trying to vacate my unit gave me a sour taste for this company. I called to give notice well before 7 day notice. Removed my items told the location during the weekend and removed my padlock. Was told to call prior to my due date, upcoming (Monday). My bad neglected to call Monday now being charged $5.71 for an empty unit from Monday-Wednesday. Why doesn't both locations have release paperwork at the location for convenience? It's not the $ that bothered me but the person on the phone that seemed to be ready for an argument and was very quick to blurt out policies and my failure to sign release papers. Not having a car to go to the location immediately I asked for the release to be faxed now they are holding release papers hostage until $5.71 coughed up. Seems pretty strong armed for my taste. Overall, my past experiences haven't been so horrible. Location is clean and safe and other staff has been helpful when changing units to larger or even providing courtesy calls for my tardiness. read more

Do not!! I mean it do not rent storage here. I start this location after sold our house around may. In the beginning I already feel disorganized for how they hire new people and training them . In the time their was management company lady Mary help me. She seems decent and honest. Dec22, I stop by storage , there are only new face. And they only speak Spanish to each other. I realized company is own by a Mexican. Originally may I set up autopsied through check. Then August. they change their company system. Now only credit card allow. So I set up again by showing in their office. They have my new update phone and email. Dec 22 . I am just curious about if everything is fine with my storage. And realized they already charge me two month late fee58 dollars. Without even notification through email or phone call. They said they are not responsible to call you for default of autopsy. That so call new manager PATRICIA . They use this low type of scam trick to earned more money from their storage site. Is just disgusting. read more

Excellent location right off of El Camino in the heart of SC! I've had my stuff here for years & years! The staff are OK- there when you need 'em but otherwise out of your hair. There's a nice mellow vibe here overall. It's got cameras everywhere so I always feel safe even when the occasional weirdo is around (which I guess tends to happen at storage places since sadly some people let's say, rely, on them). They have RV/camper storage too if you need that. The layout takes a minute to get used to since it covers multiple areas (& the office is on a side street). The units range from closet-like to able-to-store-your-car size (literally! I saw a guy do that once.) There's no lights inside the units, but they have electrical outlets near the inside (darkish) areas so you can bring illumination if you need it. The outside lights always work & there's an elevator (for the storage= people must use the stairs). Just one porto-potty (which you need a key for because of said weirdos). As for temperature: some are insulated, some aren't which means things can get hot. But never wet- the outside unit I had stayed dry even when it rained. Rates are very affordable! Hours are average (though I wish they were open more, however there is an option of overtime usage ($20/hr). Overall ECSS a good place to hold your stuff :) read more

When I moved out of my previous residence to move in with my wife, I had to pare down a lot of stuff--and there was a lot of items that would not fit into our new place. I looked around and found this storage solution the best bargain last year. It still is a bargain, but I need to explain some issues that I had with them. I started storing stuff at their Sherman location in Oct 2014. In Feb 2015 I was told that they were tearing down the Sherman location and that a new storage facility would open on Memorex. I was upset, since I just moved my stuff a few months prior, but I got a great storage spot in the Memorex location. And I was told that there would be after hours access--which would be fantastic for a late night gigging musician like me. That was a great selling point that really hit home with me. After I moved to the new location (out of my own pocket, by the way) I inquired about the after hours, and the guy in the office said they have no plans for after hours. I was livid. I just finished playing a gig. It is 5:30 pm, and my car is full of gear that needs to go back into storage. I drove over to drop it off, and their facility was CLOSED at 5 pm. They used to be open until 6 on Sat, I swear. The office guy denies it and said they've always closed at 5 pm on Sat. I explain my plight and he smiles and tells me "if you pay me $20, I'll give you access." Apparently that's how they do it now. I was flustered. I had my car broken into with my gear in it in April 2015. I have no room in the apartment for these drums. And I gotta deal with the guy to get access after hours. This is why I give 2 stars. Most other places do not charge for after hours. Had I known it would be this way, I would have found another place before staying with them. They really don't care about their customers--not even a "sorry" out of that guy to make me feel better. I will be with them since they are inexpensive. I wish they would have not changed their story after I moved to their new location. They gave me hope, then smiled and took it away. I think they enjoy giving me and others the shaft. I wish they treated their customers with a little more respect and courtesy. They did not offer to pay for my abrupt move nor did they follow through on their promise for late night hour access. You decide. It's cheap storage with very limited day hour access. They are good for that and nothing else. They don't keep promises. If they promise you late night access for free, don't believe it. I received a Notice of Lien. I called. I said, "I never received a bill." They said, "We don't bill." So welcome to the only company in the world that doesn't send a bill, but happily charges you late fees and pre lien fees before sending you a letter. They do have automatic payment, but a manger has to set that up, and it's been three days and the manager has yet to call me back. What a great way for them to make extra money--to charge you late fees and pre-lien fees and then sell your stuff. read more

I have used them for several years because they were less expensive but they decided to make up for that in the end. I gave my 7 day written notice 10 days before the end of the month but because my banks "Bill Pay" was already processing the next month's payment and I couldn't stop it in time they refused to refund me on 2 empty units. Said it was a computer issue of some kind. Yeah sure! These guys are bogus. Also, in all the years I used them they never swept up or cleaned up the cat poo, etc. once.
