I used this to store my belongings from January 2024 to February 2024 for the deal of $1 (+$30 service fee and a $15 lock fee). My belongings were in great condition when I removed them. I was given a unit on the top floor all the way in the back of the building, so it took around 2 minutes to wait for the elevator and 4 minutes to walk to my storage unit each way. A bit of a hassle! The lady at the desk was not very friendly upon our first meet and was a bit rude at times, but also could be friendly. She was very annoyed when we propped the gate door open for a couple minutes and didn't like when we used the carts (despite nobody else being there). I may not use this facility again, but I'm appreciative of the staff's promptness in maintaining the space and am happy with the state of my belongings! read more

So far, my experience has been horrible. Rented a unit and showed up after they had given me the information and the gate code. Nobody was there even though it was office hours. My gate code did not work because it said to see the manager who again was not there. Had to call the one 800 number every time I wanted to enter the premises that day so each time was a 20 to 30 minute phone call. The next day I was able to meet with somebody to return the lock that I was forced to buy and get a refund. And to make sure that my gate code actually worked. When I asked to clarify the office hours, they repeated at the office hours were what was posted "when somebody is here ". I asked again to clarify if they were going to be there during those hours because the bathroom is not open unless. They are there. Again, he stated those are our office hours when somebody is here. He explained that they are short staffed and don't always have people to cover the office hours. Then he gave me a phone number to call to "make sure" somebody would be there. Forgot to mention that the first day was a Friday, and throughout our several hour ordeal, there were several other people there looking for the manager. And when you call the one 800 number they would call the manager who would not answer. All in all I would say, don't expect to have any staff present any time to help in anyway. This facility is horrible. I toured the space and rented a unit after inspecting it to make sure it was dry and didn't smell. I was assured that the building had been updated and previous issues addressed. I arrived to my storage several days later to move in and discovered that the storage unit was flooding from the rain that had prevented me from moving in immediately. I called to ask for a refund and got the run around and told that there was not a leak in my unit, that it was just stains on the floor from previous use. That is a lie. I still have not received a refund, which I asked for nearly a week ago. My lease also was not immediately cancelled as requested. Additionally, the elevator inspection is expired and has not been updated in almost two years. DO NOT rent storage from these people. Terrible facility and terrible management. read more

DO NOT Rent Here Hands down the absolute WORST Public Storage I have ever used. The elevator is constantly out of service. The rare times the elevator does work it is dangerous to use. The doors close too quick and bang into your body or your cart and then stop working again. The front gate is frequently broken and access hours were reduced. They have locked all the entrances even to the front office door during business hours. THEY RAISE RENT OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Highly Recommend anyone avoid this location. Don't bother renting out from this spot. WE DISCOVERED RAT FECES/URINE IN OUR UNIT - all over our things. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! THIS PLACE IS A HEALTH HAZARD! I don't even want to go in to empty it out :'( I rented it for 2 years, and in that period they went from charging me $90 to $140 now, and considering what happened it makes no sense! My space didn't get bigger, nonono JUST FULL OF RAT SHIT! Also, now they put locks on the carts so you can't just use them when you want - you have to make sure it's during business hours. I moved to this storage since my previous storage increased the rent. However, I regret doing so. I found a dead rat in my unit and from the reviews below, it seems I'm not the only one experiencing this. The rat left residues on my luggage and other belongings. I found droppings all over my stuff and even between my books which I had to throw away. I had to get rid of my 3 pieces of luggage, comforters and sleeping bag due to the bad odor because it urinated on my things. I decided to file a damage claim in order to cover my losses. And after doing so many paper work and back and forth, they said the maximum that insurance is going to cover is $250 because the cause is identified as 'vermin'!!! I'm very disappointed with experience here and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Pay more and use nicer storage facilities. read more

This is the worst place ever. What a rip off. If I could give it a zero I would. I was told that whatever deal I signed up for online would be what I pay until I move out. Three months into it they raised the rent over $20 per month. I started on March 18. They decided to pro-rate me. I never asked for it. I moved out September 7th and they would not pro-rate me. Hey you pro-rated my date on move-in then you sure can pro-rate my date on move out! My space was number 64 that I have been forced to pay for through September 30th and at a last month there raised by $50 rate!! I hope people on here will keep an eye on that space and make sure since I was forced to pay for it till the end of this month that they do not rent it out to anyone else! I do not recommend this place at all. The dollar the first month is a lie because they pro-rated me and charged me $159 the first month. Any other local storage would be better. I've had a storage at Cupertino Safe Storage for years and it wasn't until the 3rd year that they raised the rent $10 per month! I recommend Cupertino Safe Storage as they will not rip you off like Public Storage does!! read more

I rented a box here for three months, have just moved out, and have no complaint whatsoever. The move-in and move-out processes could not have been smoother. Plus, the on-site staff is top notch and very friendly. My entire experience with Public Storage was zero stars. We originally made a reservation at a different location but upon our arrival the unit was still filled with trash and because they didn't have another unit available in the size we reserved our reservation was transfer to the Public Storage on Fair Oaks. Like other reviews have stated this location has rats! There are rat droppings throughout the halls and in the units we toured. When I mentioned this to the attendant Pervez he said he didn't work there often and was unaware of the issue. After reading other reviews it sounds like he is the site manager. I would not recommend leaving your belongings here unless you want them destroyed by rats. The management does not seem to be doing anything about the issue. read more

He advocated me to get right sized unit to my needs, lent the cart to move my stuff, explained me thoroughly the safety aspects, terms, insurance, and how to use gate. Not only were there rat/mouse droppings in the unit I rented, but when I emptied my unit a few days before the end of the month, while giving them a few days notice, they still charged me for the next month. I was told I would receive a refund from corporate in four weeks. Six months later, I still did not receive a refund, so I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Many times, people are getting locked in the facility, since they lock the gate at 9 p.m. with no way to exit. If you do decide to rent a unit, buy a round lock that cannot be cut with a cable cutter. There have been many break-ins and the locks cut on many units. read more

Only choosing one star because there is no option for zero. Truthfully, I would rate management of this facility and Public Storage in general negative100 stars. First of all, the $1.00 first month's rent promotion is a scam. I signed up on October 3rd and as of today, December 5th, I've been charged three month's full rent. When I called to inquire, I was told that rent for the next month is billed on the 3rd or 4th of the month before. So my $1.00 rent only applied to two days. Secondly, the husband and wife management team of this facility don't give a flying fig about their customers or their welfare. I inadvertently lost the card with my access code after I entered the facility before office hours last weekend. Since no one else was there, I called 911 and was transferred to Sunnyvale police. As I was speaking to them, the wife came out of the office and I told the police that an employee had just shown up and would surely open the gate for me. But when I explained my situation to the wife and asked her to unlock the gate, she flat out refused; saying "No, I can't. I'm late." I asked her if she realized I was locked inside the parking lot and she said yes but "he" would be there in 15 minutes, repeated that she was late, got in her car and drove off. I later found out that she was late to open another facility. So it was more important for her to leave a customer in distress than to be a few minutes late opening a facility where there may not even be any customers present. I called 911 back and they sent an officer. At the same time the officer arrived, "he" (the husband/property manager) arrived and repeated over and over that it is company policy not to open the gate before or after office hours. I later found out from the district manager that there is no such policy. So clearly the manager lied to cover his and his wife's tracks. The cop asked the manager 3 times to open the gate but he kept repeating the faux policy. The cop told the manager that he was committing a felony by keeping me inside the facility against my will but that didn't seem to matter. Eventually, the officer ordered the manager to go inside and open the gate but the gate didn't stay open long enough for me to even get to my car. It closed while I was chatting with the cop, who encouraged me to press felony charges. Luckily, a customer had entered during the conversation and he waited for me to get into my car and then used his own access code to open the gate so I could exit. I called customer service and got the name of the district manager, leaving him a voice mail. He called me back 4 days later and his proposed compensation was to offer a tour of the facility and a new gate access code. Really?? I then sent an email to Candace Krol, SVP of HR for Public Storage, explaining the situation. I know she read it 10 minutes later because I requested a Read Receipt. That was 4 days ago and I have not received a reply nor any contact from HQ whatsoever. So I repeat: Public Storage does not care about their customers and that apathy escalates from facility management right on up to senior executives. DO NOT patronize this company unless you like paying through the nose for nothing and being treated like amoeba swine. read more

I just closed out my storage unit at 1096 Fair Oaks Ave. in Sunnyvale, after being very happy with my experience for 18 months. The facility is clean and well kept. The manager, Pervez is very helpful and friendly. At one point, there was a man who had food in his unit, which is an invitation to mice and rats. We reported it to management, and they took immediate action on it. I would highly recommend this location, if you need storage in this area. read more

Great facility. The loading area is surrounded by wall and an electronic gate for security. (The interior lighting is a little dim if you go at night, which is a bit spooky if the place is deserted :o)) Excellent and honest service from staff, including leaving carts accessible after regular hours if requested by phone. Peggy and Pervez were very helpful and very friendly. The facility is good if you don't have to use it often. We found that being on the second floor very inconvenient since you have to use the elevator which at times didn't work very efficiently. The other problem is that the facility only has 2 dollies to move items, so you are out of luck when they are in use. read more

Do not use this facility!!! I had been renting from them for at least eight years and had to clear out because they were increasing my rent. On the day that I needed to move out, their elevator was out of order and my storage unit was on the 2nd floor. That meant that my son and I would have to schlep everything down the stairs -- including boxes of books. That is a particular issue because we had rented a Uhaul truck for that particular day, and we had every reason to expect that the elevator would be functioning. After that, when we started moving our belongings out, we discovered that several boxes of our belongings had been ruined by rats. The rats had chewed up several books and then urinated and defecated all over everything else. Several of them (the rats) then died in there and we found their dessicated carcasses in amongst all the rubble they had created. We didn't have any food in our storage compartment, or anything else that would attract them, I reported this to the manager, Pervez, who didn't seem to care much, and he just directed me to the regional manager (someone by the name of Ryan) who was also much less than useful. Granted, I didn't have insurance, but they didn't even offer to refund some of the rent I had been paying them. Ryan's excuse -- this is only the 2nd complaint they had had about rats. They charge a lot, don't provide adequate protection for the goods that people store there, and they are not helpful. They will, however, remind you, incessantly, if you owe them money. read more

Run by idiots. When inputing my info initially, they made 2 spelling errors that made it impossible to sign onto my acct. After hrs on the phone with cust. service finally got them straightened out. They spelled my name wrong and got my email address wrong even though i stood there and spelled it out and then wrote it down cuz they were not getting it. Then a few mos later get a collection letter cuz instead of closing or transfering the original agreement made b4 move in they opened a new acct when we upgraded to a larger size on move in day, So even though the unit remained empty and unlocked for 4 mos, no notes were made (according to corp. the facility is supposed to do that) .It took a dozen phone calls to straighten out. No superviser is ever available, Always promised a callback which rarely happens until you make a nuisance of yourself. Too bad it's such a hassle to move. I 'd leave there in a heart beat. That's probably why there customer service is so bad. They got you and they know it. read more
