I have been renting a 10'x15' unit at this Public Storage unit for eight months. It has faced chronic and never-addressed maintenance issues. After EVERY visit to my storage unit, Public Storage sends me a survey about my visit and then nothing changes--the feedback goes into a black hole that no one reads or acts on. During this time my monthly rental fee has increased from $188/month to $254/month with zero improvement in service or care of the property. Outstanding Maintenance Issues: * Broken Loading Bay Doors * Occasionally out of order entry door * Magnetic door holder for heavy metal internal doors for moves are broken off and missing. * Fire exit sign has hung from the ceiling by its wires and is now just taped together. * There are zero moving carts in the portion of the building I use. * Security touchpads don't consistently have reception with my phone as entry key. * Out of service elevator. Look elsewhere, this place has nothing to offer you. read more

They have run out of carts and don't seem in a hurry to replace them. I was told that the carts are considered a "luxury" item and shouldn't be expected at a Public Storage. I prefer storage locations that want to make the storage experience enjoyable. Don't rent from here. read more

Was told there was no break-ins. But I walked in this morning and saw an entire lockers' content dumped in the hallway and the lock broken off. For follow up they mention that they will not talk about the incident and that I can talk to the district manager. I called the district manager no response, no callback. I'm not sure if I can trust their statement that there have been no break-ins in the past. The staff is very friendly and the place is pretty clean. You do Smell the use of some sort of pesticide when walking the hallways. read more

Have rented at 875 Arques for years. Clean, and well run. Toby has been very helpful along the way, and most recently even advised on how to get the best deal on Public Storage. It turned out incredible timely and saved me a lot of headache and $100 per month going forward upgrading to a larger unit. 1.5 thumbs up! Only half a thumb deduction for limited access times (other storage I rent offers 24/7 access). As I live further away, and have odd hours at a startup, no access before 9:30 and after 7pm causes a bit of a inconvenience ad time squeeze with Bay Area rush hour traffic or a disruptive day rescheduling around it. read more

I asked on the phone and in person closing times. I was told 10pm for everyday of the week. What they meant was that you can't get out of the building after 10. I rushed over after work from across the bay to get here and find out that they close at 9. It's okay they give you a phone number to call. The lady on the other end just apologized and told me there is nothing they can do and to come back in the morning. From the get go they were misleading and telling me anything I wanted to hear so I would rent a unit. Now it seems I won't be able to get into my unit for weeks because my schedule does not line up with the night time hours. So unless I want to take work off or sacrifice sleep I won't be able to get into my unit. read more

This location has the best security, most uplifting/well-lit facilities and excellent management with Toby leading the front office. I looked at many Public Storage locations and many competitors because I was looking for space for a charitable organization's goods. Toby gave me excellent advice, listened well to my needs and ultimately found a space that was perfect. And clean, too! My colleagues will feel comfortable going to our shared space knowing it's safe, under camera watch and with excellent security protocols. Remember to quickly get in the elevator with access to only the floor you're allowed within the number of seconds allowed. That's not a complaint; it's a compliment, because security is Job #1 at this location. Toby rocks! read more

This location raised my rent $40 without notice. They claimed to have sent emails out but no email has been found, there for it was not sent. Nor did the staff tell us this would happen the last time we paid our rent there. I also pay for climate control and when I complain it's hot and stagnant, I'm told by a staff member it's always hot up there! No it isn't and you don't hear the air on! Clean and secure, but my experience with the service is not good. Nobody showed up today to man the main desk. Carts: always a hassle to find. Today they were locked together with cables...not available for use. Another renter told me that some folks lock them in their private storage spaces. Look, that is awful behavior and not the fault of PS, but it is up to PS management to find solutions for the customers that use them properly. (Walgreens doesn't stop selling small items because a few lowlifes shoplift.) It is not like folks show up to their storage space and DON'T need a cart. We are not storing a couple envelopes there. read more

Super clean environment. Saw a huge screen showing camera's everywhere. Walter and his coworker were excellent. Friendly, knowledgable and understood all my requirements and helped me out. Price was good, storage was clean, could have used a little more light in the storage it was very dim but no other suggestions. This Public Storage steal your card! I've been a loyal customer of this Public Storage for almost 5 years. I moved to Los Angeles, last month, I went back to the bay are and emptied my storage unit. I left bay on Nov 10th, and I cleared things out of unit, removed the lock and left the roller door open. They called me on the 11th, said I have some empty boxes left outside and they pushed them into my unit and I can come back to clean them before the 30th, otherwise they are going to charge me $150 cleaning fee. I said whatever. But in case things went wrong, I went back home and set up a move out date on Nov, 11th. Nov 28th, I got a call from them, they said if I don't come back on the 30th, they will charge me a new month. The roller door is open, and nothing valuable is inside the storage, everyone with a common sense should know, I already moved out. I attached my conversation with the customer service and I also sent an email to the Public Storage. I clearly stated I'm moving out the storage. I don't need to renew the lease. December 1st, they sent me a bill for the new month. Good thing is, I voided my payment on the Nov, so my units went on auction on December 10th. The lease automatically terminated. But I was left with a $900 dollar bill. I pay $400 for my 10*20 unit every month, way above average, my unit is on the 1st floor, best location of their building. I left on the 10th, according to their policy, I need pay the rent of the whole month. They could close my account as I requested and re-rent my unit out, take advantage of the rest of the month. Making extra profit for the company. However, they made stupid choice, damage the company and also leave me a ridiculous bill. Instead of $150 cleaning fee, they charged me $250 for abandoned goods. Which is the highest fee they can charge. Because I enrolled in the autopay before, they manually typed my card info and charged my card. This is typical card fraud. I don't know if they are too stupid, or they are too reckless to conduct the crime, since everything is in record. I even received an email saying they manually charged my card. This review will also be sent to the regional manager's email and BBB of Public Storage's headquarter. read more

This was my first time renting out a storage unit, and I glad it was a good experience. Rented a 5x10 for a month. Which the 1st month was 50%off, plus all the other fees and insurance, and the lock. Which by the way, they mention the lock is for us to keep when we leave, and it works for all of their storages, and Richard and Walter mention that also work on storages other than Public Storage. Walter made the whole transition easy for me and showed me the unit prior to paying to make sure it was the right size before I made anything official. He answered all of my questions and was very friendly and helpful. They had dollies you can barrow (just leave your drivers license). I also needed a mattress bag, which you can purchase at this location (I have a full mattress, got mine for $9). The facility felt safe (everyone has their own code to get through the doors or elevators). The only thing negative during my experience was when I saw a cockroach in the hallway while I was moving out. I guess you can't really do anything about that when you have all of these people moving in things and bringing in bugs with them. Luckily it didn't come into my unit and I made sure to look through my things before I brought them into my house. Other than that, the whole experience was great! Would definitely use their facility again. read more

Huge thank you to Parvin! I called and made an inquire about a 5x10 unit about 2 weeks ago, when I called back a week later, all the 5x10's were gone. Parvin was very nice and worked with me on the price and was able to upgrade me to a 10x10 unit for the same cost! I was able to move in right away and love that the facility is so safe and secure! The AC throughout the building and everything being climate controlled is very nice as well! I'm able to organize and be in the unit even on hot days without breaking a sweat! Walter was very nice as well in helping me secure a few carts on move in day! This place is great and I don't think I'll ever leave! read more

This review is for Public Storage located in Arques Ave in Sunnyvale. Two weeks ago, I wanted to use three carts to unload my boxes from my storage unit into a rented truck. The staff at Public Storage did not permit it and requested to keep my driving license. After 30 min and when I wanted to checkout, the office was found closed (all three staff members were left without notifying) with a note that the manager will return in 15 min. Finally, one of the staff members returned to the office after 30 min. So, practically, I paid for this frustrating 30 min extra to the truck driver while just waiting for the relaxed staff members to finally show up to return them the carts and pick up my driving license. It is a very inconvenient and ridiculous management style/practice to capture a driving license and immediately leave without notice. The management team did not respond to my multiple contacts and I am leaving this review with a single star. read more

I rented a unit in Sunnyvale next to Lowe's, due to the covid pandemic they changed hours with no notification. I chose that place for their accessibility and hours, I've had a unit there almost 3 years. When I drove out there from Visalia (3 hour drive) to find out they shortened their hours. I got 90% of my things out before they closed early. I explained my situation to Sabrina and She told me to leave or she would call the police since it's after hours now. This was the last weekend in the month. So I left, called and got a verbal agreement from Richard to prorate my rent the following month. I went back the following weekend to clear the rest of my things out and close the unit. They charged me the whole month for 3 days, I tryed to explain the verbal agreement but the lady was rude and told me too bad, I should have managed my time better. Really public storage, this is how you treat your customers during this troubling time. I will never rent from public storage again. thankfully I dont have a storage at this location. the manager "ANN" was super unprofessional. I rent a storage in san jose. but work in santa clara/Sunnyvale. me, working two wanted to park my car in the parking lot(sunnyvale public storage) for 30mins- 45mins tops. mind you two weeks before this I would park here mon_fri 9am_10am for lunch. I like parking here cause of the shade. skip to today... I'm sitting here as usually.. and ANN COMES UP TO my window very RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. it went 0-RATCHET REAL QUICK. I never encountered someone sooo rude and soo disrespectful in my life. she threatened to get my plate # number and find out who I am. that she was calling the cops. and all I was doing was sitting in my car trying to relax. before I started my 2nd job. I do appreciate the other manager who came out to resolve the issue. Be wary of Public Storage. Once they have your stuff in storage they tend to have very high increases in rent on an annual basis. Don't get fooled by the 1st year price. I have had increases of 18% and 25% in the past. They know it is a hassle to move your stuff so they just jack up the price by any amount they choose. I have had storage with other companies that had minor increases over time, but Public Storage is the most egregious with price increase read more

Since Public storage took over I've been a little disappointed. My unit is in the center of the building, and now I can only use one elevator at the far side of the building to get entry. Before I could use a side door and get to my unit much quicker. The trolleys are often locked up on the holiday weekends, just when I get time off work to clear out my unit. Otherwise the location is good, and usually clean, the staff is competent and courteous, and the elevators work most of the time. The previous company didn't raise the rates twice per year. This latest price increase has made me start looking for places elsewhere. read more

Evil Public Storage has indeed taken over the property built and formerly owned by Super Space Self Storage just as they did with dozens of other independent operators. I got the same email as Thor, (under Super Space) and went the next day to find out what the story was. Apparently that was the day they fired all the original staff and brought in a bunch of wannabees from other Public Storage locations to fill in. No Ah, Yes or Boo or Thank you for your service, just `We bought this place, your services are no longer needed, you can leave the building now, please call 211 , 411 or 711 for assistance, goodbye.' With the other customers in the office, they also changed everybody's billing date to the first of the month, irregardless of when they get paid and can then pay their storage bill and are trying to charge people for months or portions thereof that they had already paid for. Then the fill-ins left, ostensibly to go and get the `real' assignees that are supposed to be running the property, and then left the whole office wide open inbetweentime (about a half-hour). I held a ``class'' in there for the rest of the customers that were doing just what I was - and provided them with contact information for not only their District Manager, but their Regional Coordinator and Corporate Affairs offices back East as well. How they all did with getting their partial or complete months' charges reversed I'll never know - the only thing I know is I got nowhere with the DM or RC and Corporate Affairs kept giving me the run around. Finally I told the obnoxious receptionist who answered my call to Corporate Headquarters from a call center in a foreign country who had no concept of how to contact anybody outside of her call center - that I would be bringing the network TV news cameras right to her desk in whatever foreign country she was in unless she gave me the contact information I requested. Magically, all of a sudden people have a brain in their head and I got to talk to someone at Headquarters with some teeth in their mouth. They called down the chain of command and forced the DM or RC or whoever to waive the extra charges - whereupon I told them that I would not be renewing for the New Year and would be telling all my friends to do the same. I say let them deal with corporations and other businesses and Government institutions that need storage space, cuz as far as dealing with individual people - like so much of the rest of the service industry - their skills have declined to the point that - nevermind if there was a power failure - if their computer were to do down they'd become instantaneously brain dead. read more

Nice staff, clean space, nice move-in rate. The only thing they forget to tell you is that you will get a big jump in rent every year. I am now paying $255 for a unit they are advertising for $140 per month. Once they have you, they will gouge you. If you try to move to another facility, they have bought up so many competitors that you will be unable to. And if you move to another facility they own, they will keep your rate at the high gouging level. read more
