I had a code within 15 minutes who is moving some stuff within the hour. They are awesome. This is the WORST storage facility I've ever used and I'm disgusted by them! I used an online deal to secure a great price for an indoor climate controlled unit and within three months they increased the monthly rent by more than 50%. I called to ask about it and they told me that they reserve the right to review and increase the price every six months. I weighed the decision to move my furniture (a three bedroom townhome), but it would be just as costly to rent movers to go to a new facility. Fast forward a year later and I moved out today, only to unload my furniture and find that mice had made a nest in my sofa and ate through the cloth. I'm am so DISGUSTED by this place! I rented an indoor climate controlled unit and for the price I paid, I'm livid! I would NOT recommend this place. The location manager, Juju, was great. As a first time renter, I had many questions, she was very patient and even found us a good deal on a 7'x10' unit. It is very convenient that this location is close to my house. For safety purposes, each unit renter has an unique code to enter the premises. They have a couple of carts that renters can use free of charge. The one thing I wish is that they had a system to keep the main doors to the corridors open so you don't have to use your own boxes/items to keep the doors open while you are bringing your stuff to your unit. I highly recommend this place, the place is clean and access is easy. The process is easy for setting up, i did it all online and when i had a question about my billing, Mike was quick to respond and resolve the issue for me. He followed up promptly and walked me through the resolution and offered to reassess the situation in a couple of month to get me the best deal. After 6 months of using my storage unit, I decided to vacate once I moved into my permanent residence. I personally visited Public Storage, signed the forms to vacate my unit, and was told that since I vacated my unit early in the month I would pay 5 days of pro-rated rent and then I would receive a refund since everything was prepaid. Perfect, right?! Except the fact that when I vacated the unit, no one in billing was ever notified, so they stopped by auto-payment but continued to send me to collections! How lovely! I then had to speak to about five different people until the manager finally called me to confirm that yes, I had vacated the property quite some time ago. This is why I am hesitant to ever enroll in auto-pay!!!! read more

This is a great facility. It is easy to get to as it is located on Rt. 7, near Drainesville rd. The property manager, JuJu Raquel, is an efficient and pleasant manager. They snuck in a bullshit insurance policy for 50 dollars which was never refunded and told me that service members don't pay late fees now while I am overseas they charged in combat zone not near internet they charged me 40 dollar late fee for being late one day. And to top it off if I want to pay my bill online they want to charge me another 20 dollars. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: I am updating this review to report that my experience with Public Storage has improved. After having a frustrating experience with the company regarding their rental rate practices, I received a helpful call from the district manager. She listened to my concerns and worked with me to find a mutually agreeable solution, which I really appreciate. The issue was that my rental rate was increased after 6 months of storage. I was not expecting an increase as this was not mentioned when I signed up, but when I called customer service, they pointed me to the clause in the contract that allows the company to change the terms at any time. The $1 special was not available for the type of unit I needed but the location is so convenient I didn't mind. The property manager was awesome. I was only planning on using the unit for a couple of months but Erin was so friendly and helpful that I may just keep the unit indefinitely for all my out of season stuff. Great Customer Service! As soon as I walked in (having just made the reservation 30 min prior) Noah was very helpful in making the rental of the storage very easy and smooth. He showed us the different sizes (10x5 vs 5x10) and what each entailed and recommended us the best option for our furniture. He was even able to find us a more accessible unit that made moving in so much faster. What I thought would be at least 4 hours of work ended up being less than half of that because of his helpfulness. Just to mention and warn people in case it's an issue. This location has a new lock system that does not accept the old big round locks. Instead it uses a more small a portable type of lock. I didn't mind buying the lock since we got a great discount on the storage, the location is so close to home and it meant not having to deal with the big old locks. But it depends on the way you see it. read more

They were great from the get-go - did the $1 move in - all the folks that work there have been super polite and helpful - never had a problem - very clean and well kept property and my unit was not what I wanted (a corner - odd shaped for the footage just wanted the rectangle/square) and they were more than happy to accomodate. First, the staff at Public Storage has always been phenomenal. The new manager, Steve is absolutely terrific. Responsive, smart, quick to help. The facility is clean (I've been storing there around 4 years and have two units). The new District Manager is quite another story. Unresponsive. Tells you what you want to hear, but does not deliver. This was an unusual circumstance, where someone kicked in the door of my unit, making it inaccessible. A month later, and the District Manager has still not ordered the repair. His response "I have to see what the contractor's schedule is.". I understand that for a week or so. The damage was done about six weeks ago. So, as long as you don't have a need for the District Manager, the facility is great, and the store manager is great. I am, of course, furious at not being able to access my unit AND still being charged for it. read more

I've used this storage space for 16 years, and it's gone through a few changes, different owners, different managers, so there's been ups and downs, in fact a short while ago I had become so frustrated about some stuff that I was ready to move, but then this guy, Steve, became the manager and, wow! Suddenly, for the first time, all of my problems, questions and concerned are addressed and taken care of without unnecessary delays or silliness. Prior to today, my experience with this Public Storage facility has been pretty good. The employees I've encountered have been very pleasant (including Juju, the manager), and the only issue I've had is that they raised my rent pretty significantly after only having been there for a few months. That changed this morning. I came to my storage unit to tape up some boxes that I'd opened and re-box a few things in preparation to move out. We couldn't have been there 20 minutes when we were approached by a very rude woman who told us that we could not put the boxes in the aisle and that I was parked in a reserved spot and had to move my car. When asked what we were supposed to do with the boxes that we were taping up, she told my father that he could put them by the pillars near the other storage units. So we're supposed to carry the boxes the whole way down the aisle and place them near other storage units? This must be a new (and absurd) policy....or she is new and was trying to prove something. My guess is the latter. I've been here numerous times before going through my items and, despite the fact that some of the employees have seen me doing it, none of them have ever said anything to me prior to today. After all, there was room to walk around the tower of boxes, but that wasn't good enough for her. I suppose that when people are moving in and out of their storage units, she thinks that they aren't going to put boxes in the aisle. What are they supposed to do, hang them from the ceiling? She made some excuse about people not being able to get to their storage units if they came in, which isn't the case, because there is another door down the hallway. So far as the parking goes, some of the reserved spaces are clearly marked in bright white. The space I was in wasn't. The numbers were faded. If they're concerned about reserved parking, this is something they should fix. What was supposed to be a relatively quick trip to organize my belongings prior to a move turned into a huge hassle. I can't remember the last time I've been approached so rudely by someone who's allowed to interact with people on a daily basis. I finally told the woman that I was done dealing with her because I didn't have time for this, and that Public Storage would be hearing from me. As she was walking away, she had the nerve to say "you're in unit ___, ok", as if it was some sort of veiled threat. It's a good thing this woman wasn't the person in the office the day I came in to rent the unit, or I would have walked right back out and found storage elsewhere. read more

When I went to the front desk to ask what to do about it, Steve quickly resolved the problem, and I was able to access my unit still within my lunchbreak.
