Jeanette, the facility manager, makes this place worth trusting. I showed up with the wrong address, movers in tow, and no real plan for how to stage a unit I'd never seen. Jeanette got me to the right place, flagged immediately that the 5x10 I'd reserved wasn't going to cut it, and handled the upgrade to a 5x15 mid-move without making it my problem. She waited 15 minutes for an elevator I had effectively commandeered and managed the whole situation with the kind of vigilant calm that makes you trust someone with your things. Moving strips away every illusion of control you have. The fact that I walked away from this one feeling secure is a direct result of how she runs that facility. UPDATED REVIEW - This is an updated review based on my recent experience that I have posted in the older review. I got a call from their new staff member - Jeanette last week. She mentioned that she is new and apologized on the behalf of public storage for the inconvenience caused earlier and helped me resolve my lost key issue very quick and as a goodwill gesture - they didn't charge me. She is extremely sweet and helpful. I hope she stays here for long before they change the staff again. Thanks to her, got my issue resolved. Old Review - I've been renting here since 2021 and, until late 2024, my experience was consistently smooth. Unfortunately, in the winter of 2024 my unit was broken into during office hours and several items were stolen. At the time, there was no one in the office to assist me, and reaching anyone by phone felt like an ordeal. When I finally got through, the staff were polite and tried to help, but communication was difficult and drawn out. More recently, I've left multiple voicemail messages asking for assistance with my lost keys, and despite promises to call back, I've heard nothing. I've also received conflicting information and no apology for these recurring lapses in service. It's disappointing to see such unprofessional behavior from a company I've supported for years. The elevators are constantly out of order. Nobody can assist you, and if you try to call their phone numbers, they will keep you circling pressing numbers. When the elevators are "working" they are unstable. The manager onsite can't do anything about it but receiving the constant pressure from us the customers. Not fair for any of us. Rats! We recently went to pull some things out of storage to use at our new place and when we opened the doors to our unit there was rat poop on everything. The person at the front desk said that we could move units and he would contact corporate. I haven't heard anything. I didn't want to write this review but I've tried to get in contact with Public Storage 3 times after this and have not heard anything back. Sure it stores your stuff but that was about it. Only one elevator was working so there was a constant bottleneck of people waiting. Of the 400+ units there are four hand trucks that are a treasure to use when available And the hours are terrible for folks that want to head after work during the week to load / unload items as they close at 5:30-6. I don't write reviews often, but please be aware of this facility. Valuable items were stolen from my basement unit. I was never notified and the story is even weirder: When I first went to pick up my belongings, I noticed the lock had changed. The property manager needed to look up what the previous manager had input into their system. He then told me it had changed due to maintenance and that the yellow tag indicates that the lock change was supervised. Yet, he could not find the key and I had to wait a day for them to find it. The next day, I get handed the new key, I open my unit, and the unit was ransacked with missing valuables. All the manager did was candidly hand me the insurance pamphlet and tell me to file a police report. Here are the facts: A code is needed to get into the building, a code is needed to even get down to the basement via elevator, there are cameras all around, and my lock was supposedly changed and supervised. First, my new key couldn't be found, then when I do get the key and finally enter the unit, my belongings were rummaged through.... Take what you will from this experience and please be careful with where you store your stuff! read more

I don't recommend this place. The worst thing about it is their hours of operation. We find ourselves coming home from work early and then rushing to Public Storage to try to get there before they close at 6:00 on weekdays. (It wasn't like that when we signed up.) Near closing time, an employee makes a couple of announcements over the PA system, telling everyone how much time is left. But rather than sounding helpful, they usually sound more like a prison warden, as if the customers' presence there is a problem. The other really frustrating thing about this place is the way they secure their carts. They had a problem with people stealing the carts, so they now lock them, and you get a key from the office by leaving your ID with them. The problem is that they often leave the office unattended for 30 minutes or more, and there's no way to get a cart when they do this. I assume these are lunch breaks for the employees, and the company is too cheap to provide enough staffing to keep the office open during all business hours. Lastly, the company doesn't care about these complaints. We've brought these issues to their attention via email, but they've stopped responding. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is that our stuff hasn't been stolen, and we've not seen gross stuff like infestations. read more

It was an ok experience, but a lot was left to be desired; 1) Very disappointed that I needed to pay for my last month in full, even though my unit was occupied just 13 days. 2) Often nobody was in the office, which made things such as getting a moving cart difficult. 3) Their hours of business are not convenient for anyone who works full time. (They close at 6:00). And they rather rudely remind you of their closing time if you arrive within an hour of closing. A reminder is fine, but be a little polite about it. read more

This place is the worst. The hours suck. I have a spot on the basement level that I had to move because a pipe burst above and leaked into the unit causing a ton of water damage. I move units and then the new one, along with a bunch of other units on the same row were broken into from someone prying the doors open and bending the security bar. I've gone there several times during business hours only to find a note taped to the front window that says "will return" with no time quote when I've needed to use a hand truck or rolling cart. I called to speak to someone and ask how to go about using a cart during business hours only to have the manager call me back and say "there was no way he could guarantee anyone would be there to assist me." Really? During business hours you can't say whether or not someone can check a damn cart out? That doesn't even make sense. To too it all off, people are living there and it's hella creepy. This place is a nightmare. Horrible customer service and complete disregard or customer safety. Shame on y'all. read more

I'm pretty laid back but this place and this corporation is sickening to me. I will never store my belongings in another Public Storage again- independent storage companies and other smaller companies are far better in all areas of overall experience than PS. At other storage companies, I've experienced better: 1. customer service (not satisfied at all with PS service) 2. less price gouging and increases (Public Storage frequently increases and charges more than other storage companies) 3. have longer length of time to pay before a late fee (I have 10 days at another storage unit versus 4-5 days at PS... not everyone can have auto-pay on the 1st of the money (only option) and so I have to remember to pay as soon as I get paid on the 3rd of the month) 4. have longer hours of access -i.e. until 9 or 10 PM - (this location only allows until 6 PM) 5. no hassle and easier access to carts to transport belongings to your unit and vice versa - (this location requires you to submit your ID before you can take the cart and then you have to wait for someone to be available and in the office to get your ID back) 6. make adjustments when their pricing is mislabeled on multiple numbers of the same product - ( I purchased at PS a refill of dry pellets in a bin with multiple numbers of them individually marked at the same rate as the marked package I just purchased and expected to pay. At time of purchase I was charged a few dollars more. I checked the bin and confirmed that it wasn't just the 1 refill I picked up. I discussed it with the person I just purchased the product with- they refused to make an adjustment of the price despite their mistake on multiple numbers of the same product. ("The computer says it is this cost.") I returned the product because I could get a better cost elsewhere and also, the PRINCIPLE OF THE MATTER. seriously?? a huge corporation can't adjust a few dollars for their mistake in price labeling on individual packets in a bin???) 7. a much better overall experience elsewhere - I've had storage in 3 other locations and all of them were much better than my experience with PS, and they were all with other smaller independent companies. Bottom Line- stay away- there are much better options out there. Lastly, I tried to resolve my issues with PS- I tried with the local contact at my storage unit location, the 800 number, the "contact form" on the main website, and after a lot of difficulty, I received the direct name and number for the district manager. Both the "contact form" and "district manager" never returned contact with me, even weeks after contact. So yeah, this place isn't worth your money or time. Go elsewhere. read more

Joe the office manager was AMAZING. I was running late with a uhaul full of stuff and called him at closing saying I was on my way and he STAYED LATE!!! I was able to unload everything and return the uhaul without having to pay for the truck an extra day. Thank you, Joe!!! Plus, you can fit a uhaul in the Garage.. that's 5 stars all on its own. I agree that the hours of operation suck.. BUT that is noted before you decide to rent. So, yes I think it is stupid, but I signed up for it. (Took off one star to encourage Public Storage to have later hours of operation.) (Also, this is in Capital Hill, they might have to secure it down at night so shady stuff from shady people does not happen, hence keeping our stored items more secure.) Rio assisted me on move in day and he was FANTASTIC!! He made the process smooth and as stress free as possible. Renting a storage unit is not fun - it typically means you're moving or something of the sort, and no one likes moving. What usually gets people in a huff about moving is when it gets complicated and/or expensive. I am one of those people right now who is in the midst of moving and I'm not particularly happy about it, but luckily I had a fantastic experience with the ladies at public storage on an early, rainy Sunday morning recently who are helped me get through it. Here is my feedback to anyone new to the realm of renting a public storage facility or to anyone who has been bitching about their recent experience: Yes - public storage is a business, so they WILL charge you a SMALL set up fee to rent a space there (mine was only $19). This is the same set up fee you've likely paid for 90% of the services you've EVER purchased in your lifetime (Netflix, Car 2 Go, Cable and Internet, etc.). Anyone who is shocked by this practice should drop off the face of the earth because it's 2014 and businesses are in fact in business to make $$$. Yes - you either have to provide your own lock or pay to buy one from them. Either option is inexpensive. Yes - you are required to have insurance on your items in your unit. MOST renter insurance policies will cover this for you, but if not, the options through public storage are rather inexpensive. This is not a public storage policy, it's a state of WA policy, so if you're shocked by this, call any storage unit in the area and they will all have the same policy. Overall, their prices are fairly inexpensive. Yes - there are a lot of policies around move in/out dates, fees, etc. but overall, the girls who helped me get setup were completely UPFRONT about everything in explaining how it all works so there really shouldn't be any surprises for anyone. Ask questions and understand what you're signing and you shouldn't have a problem. They were GREAT! read more

The other location manager couldn't even get ahold of them. the front gate has no sensor on the outside so while I'm trying to push the very damaged cart across the huge rail the gate hits the cart pushing it and almost throwing me. I would store my personal items in there, if you know what I mean. I come over to this place to buy boxes and packing supplies for my business and every time I come in, they treat me like I'm renting the presidential suite, even though all I'm doing is buying stuff. This public storage had some of the best customer service I could've asked for. I made a mistake by not cancelling Autopay for the last month of my rent when I had the opportunity to prorate. Instead of hiding behind the shield of bureaucracy and keeping my full months rent, Delaun, Cody, and Dodie worked with me to make sure that I got a refund and made moving out a breeze. Other storage places in Seattle will claim that they have better security or cleaner units, but I had no issues with my experience at this Public Storage. Thanks y'all! I was able to reach a very helpful onsite employee, Rio, and he made a request to corporate to wave all the fees they charged. He was really nice and bent over backwards to help. Moving forward, my advice is to keep in mind this company's website does not work well. It also does not support ACH for autopay although they encourage you to add your bank account number and when then process it it will results in NSF fees... on top of late fees, and to end it, they want to charge you more fees to pay your fees. At the end of the day, I DO NOT recommend working through custmer service phone number. The woman in California was super rude, interrupted me, and made it clear she would do nothing to help me outside take a payment for a $35 fee. read more

After 3 1/2 years here things left on strange terms. I am not furious and the actual customer service is good, but I can't say I'd recommend this Public Storage location to anyone unless they had limited options. Here's what I did like: -Facility is clean, units are clean -Storage options range from small to super huge -They have storage for cars/trucks -It's well-lit and not too creepy -It feels secure and you won't worry about your things being in jeopardy because the locks they provide are great and there's a locking gate with a million digit code to get in What is a bummer: -It can get busy fast. When it does, there are no carts. Some people are not shy about hogging more than one cart and you have to just stand around and wait -Prices are steep and they jump a bit each year. After 3 years here I was paying almost double what I started. I recently moved locations and pay exactly half for the same size unit in a brighter, better, newer place downtown Even more of a bummer: I called last month at the end of the month to ask about what the move out process was. The man on the phone explained that because I signed up for a unit on the 6th of the month, my billing period wasn't the first but the 6th. Since it had been years, I took that as fact. He had no reason to mislead me and I'm sure he even meant what he said. I was hoping to rent the unit a few days past the first of the month to which he said, "You'd have to be out by the 6th." I was going to be out of town so I asked if I could get out on the 7th and just pay a pro-rated rate of one day rental. He said pro-rated payments were not possible and that if I was to move out on the 7th, I'd have to pay the entire month's rent. Because I didn't have a choice, I paid for another month and got all of my belongings out slowly over the next few weeks since I had so much time. Update to when my friend and I were getting things out of the unit (because the next day was the 6th!) and the lock that Public Storage provided me with actually broke. In fact, it wasn't the lock but the actual key broke inside the lock. One that was provided for me (sold to me, rather) by this facility. Knowing they deal with tenants and locks all the time, I was sure they could cut the lock or see that I'd moved out and allow me to vacate at no cost. The gal working there (super polite, by the way! Truly lovely) mentioned that with the lock on there, I'd be charged for not vacating unless her manager could cut it off. But he wasn't in the office for few more days. WHAT?! So I was going to have to pay $203 for a month of rent because a lock they supplied me with broke when inserted a key into it? I had exactly 25 mins till they closed and it almost felt like a threat to make things happen. We raced over there with a tool kit and while we were lucky enough to get the key out of the lock and have it removed from the empty unit, it felt kind of sketchy and lousy that they'd be so unhelpful when I needed them most. I always paid on time, I rented from them for years - even through price hikes- and they were going to charge me for a broken lock they sold me even though the unit itself was cleaned and vacated. Sigh. Not the best goodbye story but if you have limited options, this is a great storage place for all of the other reasons I first mentioned. Great location with easy access and covered parking which allows you to get in and out quickly. The staff is super friendly and they will even let you use one of their flatbed carts to haul stuff around, you just have to give up your ID while you're using it. For being a storage facility, everything was very clean and in good order. Definitely a place where you won't mind keeping your stuff if you need to. read more

I am writing this review mainly because of Public Storage's deceptive tactics to make money, which are not disclosed when signing up. I rented at this Capitol Hill facility for about 4 months. First, the "$1 for the first month" deal doesn't apply to most units, only a couple at best. Second, they charge for the full month when you leave unless you depart within the first 6 days of the month (so no proration at all, which to me is an undisclosed scam). Last, they charge a sign-up or "adminstrative" fee as well so they're basically bilking users over every last dime (in addition to charging $20+ for a lock). These sorts of practices make me unwilling to ever go back. I wanted to make sure others at least know of all the charges so they can make a better-informed decision before selecting a storage facility. read more

3 stars for the price. Intro offer says $1, but add in the mandatory insurance, the lock purchase, and other fees and the total is actually closer to $50. Would have been nice to have that info given to me over the phone prior to coming in. However, $50 is still a good deal for the first month! 5 stars for Dodie!
