writing to formally express my concern regarding my recent experience at your Blossom Hill Road location. I have been a customer with Public Storage for the past three years and have made every single payment on time. When I first rented my unit, my monthly rate was $115.00. Over time, my rent steadily increased to $242.00 per month. Whenever I inquired about the significant increases, I was told by the onsite employee, Brandi, that the higher rate was due to increased rental fees. However, when I went into the office this past weekend to notify staff that I had moved out, I overheard Brandi informing another customer that the exact same unit size was currently being offered at promotional rates between $60.00 and $115.00 per month. When I asked why I was paying $242.00 for the same unit, she laughed and told me, "The trick is to keep moving units around so the rental fee stays low." It would have been helpful--and fair--to have been informed of this option at any point over the last year or two. Instead, I continued paying significantly higher rates while promotional pricing was clearly available. This feels misleading and inconsistent, especially when some customers are made aware of strategies to reduce their costs while long-term, loyal customers are not. Additionally, I experienced ongoing customer service issues, including unanswered calls and messages, limited office availability, and office hours that are not practical for customers who work standard 9-5 schedules. I believe your company should re-evaluate how pricing transparency and customer service are handled at this location. Long-term customers who consistently pay on time should not feel penalized for their loyalty. I would appreciate a review of my account and an explanation regarding the rate discrepancies. I have been at this storage for 3 or so years my storage recently burnt down on the 14th of this month i was out of town and received an email but my mom had just gone and pulled things so i thought nothing of it and the general email didn't specifically list my unit But when i called they notified me but a week later and i had to call. So insensitive at least call the specific people and let them know all of my pictures and family photo albums were lost and they couldn't even give me a call. And no refund or anything of the month that i didn't even use pr prorated portion shady! Dont use this location. read more

In the last year or so, our unit was burglarized and then burned down. Both times public storage reacted by taking no responsibility and giving zero help. They advertise themselves as a safe storage place but do nothing if their units are stolen from or even burn to the ground full of your things. If you have a bunch of stuff like cardboard boxes that you have no attachment to at all and that have absolutely no value that you want to spend money to store, this is the place for you. read more

I had just moved from Santa Monica and I needed somewhere to hold my things! Keelie was super helpful and got me into a unit in no time! Thank you for the awesome customer service. And to all the others who complain about the hours. Maybe you should check with the office first before just showing up, they have lunches and other things they need to do to maintain the property. Be considerate to their employees and the effort they put into their property. This is one of the cleanest properties I've been to without the dumpster being overfilled and there's no trash in the hallways. read more

I e been waiting for over a half hour for the person in the office too return. It's say on the door they would be back at 4:30 and it's now 5:05 and the close at 6pm. So easy to get going, cool iphone app to unlock gate, interior parking right st the loading door with trolly there waiting. High 12' celing means i can stack a LOT of sterlites and boxes in a small room (lower price) and they take care of the storage insurance for you during the signup process. I logged in and had my space, gate code and lock all set up in a few minutes. Everything was non-contact, go to your storage suite, open door and your lock is right there and easy to use. read more

RATS!!! I just got home very upset.. I started renting a unit here in September. I came today to drop off/pick up some items and there are rat feces and damage to my items. I'm so appalled. I went to the managers office to let them know and the lady let me know she was only the relief manager and I would have to be contacted by the site manager. She also said "We try to control it as much as possible". When I asked her if they use an exterminator her response was "We don't, but we use bait traps".... WHAT?!?! How is that controlling it? Why do you not inform your customers of this issue?!?! I've only had my stuff there for a couple of months and now there is damage. This is a huge health violation... Disgusting! I will be looking for my business elsewhere and report to corporate. This should not be happening with other's property relying on a safe, dry, pest free institution to place their belongings and valuables. read more

We has a great experience with Public Storage. Mitchell and Keelie were not only knowledgeable, but also very friendly and professional as well. They were able to answer all our questions. Mitchell even took us to go see the available units and even gave us some recommendations. Once we got home, we went online and rented the unit that was available. The next day, when we went to put our stuff at the unit, I met Bill. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. I went to pay my bill today and Alana helped me she told me I had to put a card on file from now on I can't pay with cash . I told her I can't because I don't always get paid on the day that the payment is due and the bank will charge me extra fees . So I told her no I won't put my card on the acct. she said from now on there not taken cash so any way I paid my bill it took awhile because my card kept on not going thru I was have trouble with the WiFi. She she seem avoided. I told her I go and get the money from the atm but I got it from my sister and paid the bill. I said I need a reciept she didn't answer me I said thank you and she didn't answer me she was beeping rude. People like that should not work in places people go to have there bills paid and sometimes have a problem she's not people person . I said thank you and let she did not say a word . Rude! We needed a storage to do some major house cleaning and de-cluttering but had no space to put things at. I went to their website, super easy, fast. And the price seems reasonable. We only need it for a few months. The app is very cool and so convenient. Our move in date we, went to our storage unit and our lock that we purchased was inside. Made my reservation for a large, drive up unit and was able to input all required info online prior to my designated rental signing date. On my designated date, I arrived on time to meet with Diane for finalizing the rental and seeing the unit. Diane was great...she was courteous, helpful and assisted me with determining supplies I needed for packing. Had she not pointed out the large box deal of moving supplies/boxes, I would have missed it! When we were done with my signing, she showed me how to insert the cylinder lock and the trick to opening and closing the slide up door. She was friendly, patient and I could tell she enjoyed her job. The office was clean and orderly and I noticed as I was leaving the facility, Diane was already hard at work sanitizing the counter and electronics used for payment. Awesome experience. I shall be moving my things out now that my husband and I had electronic equipment stollen from our space. (My advice: never leave anything in storage that you don't mind losing.) The police officer who helped me said that this location has had a number of break-ins and that the owner hasn't done enough to secure the locaiton. I agree. Had a bit of a issue with this particular location. From as long as I can remember, Public Storage pro-rated...apparently THEY DON't ANYMORE. We were rudely spoken at when we questioned this. We were told..."Well, ya shoulda moved out before the first". I think the fact that this portion of the contract is not signed specifically (as other parts of the contract at least require an initial) speaks to the sneakiness of Public Storage. I have rented units with them before and never have I been told that this is common knowledge. If they JUST RECENTLY changed this in their contract they DO NOT explicitly discuss it with new or returning clients. This tells consumers that you are not in the business of CUSTOMER SERVICE, instead you are in the business of just making money whatever it takes. This place is horrible, before moving out I asked what do I need to do before moving so I don't get charged. The lady at the desk told me just move your stuff out and let us know and we will close your account. I get a notice from a collection agency stating I owe. I call the office to find out what's going on and they tell me I need to give 2 day notice. But I told Lisa that I had went in and asked before moving my stuff out. She stated that she was. It there for initial conversation and there was nothing she could do. Well never use public storage again. Do not recommend and will not recommend using public storage. read more

Misrepresented what rent on a unit would be several times. Moved in and paid a fee with the understanding that I had paid rent throw the end of the month and the next month.... next month comes and a late fee shows up on my account. First told last month could be prorated since I wouldn't be there the whole month... then told they don't prorate but I had until the 11th of my last month to vacate without being charge for the month due to their "grace period". Move out on the 5th and told there is an outstanding balance on my account for the entire last month that they won't waive regardless of the information I was given. I hand delivered the following letter to the onsite manager, Gina, who admitted to being aware of the problem for more than six months. I also sent it as an email to the Sr VP and Chief Legal Officer, Steven Glick's linkedin account, and District Manager Chris Kilcourse's linkedin account, but got no reply at all. The locking mechanism is still broken. I got out of there as soon as I could. Beware. This business appears to be facilitating burglary. Sept 23, 2012 Public Storage 88 Blossom Hill Rd San Jose CA 95123 Concerning the theft of my toolbox and Mac Mini computer from this Public Storage bin E22. I feel Public Storage is responsible for the following reasons. 1. I was never informed the door locking mechanism was not in working order. 2. I applied the Public Storage pad lock to the door as instructed. 3. I left the door closed and the locking mechanism engaged just like other nearby storage bins. Public Storage failed to provide a working locking mechanism; and failed to inform me of the faulty locking mechanism. Also it is not obvious to the average person the locking mechanism was faulty. Therefore I request that Public Storage reimburse me for the value of my loss. I estimate it to be $500. Please let me know if you agree or disagree with these assertions. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Absolute worst experience I have had. Took my reservation for 6 x 10 unit and even had "$1" first month, good deal right? They even emailed and called to confirm (2emails,3calls).Nothing but a scam to get you in. As soon as I got there the "mgr" Gina, who looks like she lives in one of the storage units, says oh "do you have tall things?" The unit on promotion has a slanted ceiling, it's irregular and not really 6x10, thats why its on special. Lie, Scam begins... Tried to get me into a bigger unit for more money and no special of course as I am outside with all my stuff and a moving man I am paying by the hour. I said no I want what i reserved and you confirmed 5 times (2 emails, 3calls). She takes me to the bait unit which mysteriously has a lock on it. She happens to have a key for that lock and says it was suppose to be empty. You would think a real mgr, a competent mgr would have checked it before confirming 5 times. Of course not because that is the bait unit. Ok so a real business/mgr would try to resolve and get their valuable customer a comparable unit, NOPE. Keep scam going, while your most vulnerable with a loaded truck offer a different unit not on special almost double the price!! No thanks, found a real storage facility less than 2 miles away. Professional courteous and was able to get exactly what i wanted, same price as the horrid scam facility. I could only imagine how many poor souls got scammed and ended up paying more!!! Oh yeah, another thing they failed to mention was part of their scam. You must have their lock ($19.95) and must buy their insurance starting at $9.00 a month. BREAK IN Night of 12/3... 4-5 Units hit. Mine was one of them. The thieves had plenty of time to look thru every one of my boxes and choose what was of value for them to steal. They stole so much stuff, they would need a truck to get it in and out. The thieves had to have access to the property as the property itself had no issues of vandalism. Keelie and the staff are very nice and provided great customer service. In the end, the company did not have the sufficient coverage to provide a secure place to store my stuff. The thieves didnt even need to cut the lock... They were able to take a crow bar to the handle and pry it off. Public Storage is a public company that made $1.3 Billion in net income in 2015. Obviously they do not care very much about their customers belongings. I am guessing it would have cost Public Storage about $200 per unit to upgrade each of their units to a more secure unit. If they have 2-2.5 Million units worldwide, That is $400-500 million, They would still make $800 Million in 2015 alone. No, instead Public Storage chooses to save that money and allow criminals to take advantage of people and steal things that are not always replaceable. So, just know Public Storage provides exactly that Storage Space that can be accessed by the public. It is not secure. I first spoke to Mikey at this location, his customer service was excellent. I have never rented a storage unit before and I just wanted to be able to look at a 10x15 to make sure everything will fit. He took the time to list out what would be in the storage unit to see if I actually needed a 10x15 or a 10x10. Then we looked at the unit and he even showed me the elevator, because I told him another PS was a little cheaper but it would be upstairs and I wanted to check out the elevator. I didnt get a storage unit at this location cause I did find another PS that was cheaper, but Mikey with the beautiful eyes was great, awesome, helpful and again his customer service was excellent. I was in between moves that lasted longer than expected so my entire two bedroom apartment was in a storage unit at this location from June 2017- October 2017. I had every box very meticulously placed and sealed for the first couple of months until I had to search for something on a couple of occasions. I made the huge mistake of opening my boxes and doing so in way that I would not notice if someone else went through my belongings upon retrieving my things. On one occasion a staff member walked by and saw me digging through boxes and I said just looking for something although I didn't feel totally easy about it. I placed a bag from my car inside right by the door with a pair of men's Versace shoes inside that I had in the trunk of my car. When I moved out of the unit I NEVER saw the shoes again that were placed so open in my storage unit at the door along with my Canon rebel T3 camera which I paid around $600 for. There is no where the camera could have gone and I remember the exact second vividly that I packed it and it went inside the storage and there is no doubt in my mind that it was stolen from my unit. I can only imagine how easy it is to have a replacement key cut for those locks and believe it was an inside job. This is just my experience and opinion and I know that my things were stolen. I would never place my expensive belongings into another storage unit again. I would only use it for solely for furniture! read more

I had my workshop stored here for over a year after we lost the house, waiting for my chance to rebuild. Someone broke the hasp and opened the door and took over $8K worth of tools, and ski gear, and my wife's triathlon bike. There was no usable footage, so the thieves knew were the few cameras were. The officer I spoke to mentioned that this facility has a much higher rate of break-ins than anywhere else in San Jose. read more

I have used up to 10 different storage facilities in the Bay Area over the past eight years, this location I found to be lowest quality of them all. The prices for the units are NOT competitive, and the staff was nothing special (even unfriendly). I was charged for insurance I didn't need, which I was able to prove, but they wouldn't refund me. The regional manager never did get back to me after several messages. I finally gave up because it wasn't worth my time. Hours are not great. I highly suggest avoiding this place. read more
