Beware! I thought it was a safe storage since you need an access code to get in and they have cameras, but I was wrong. The cameras they have installed are really bad quality and the video footage is so pixelated. If they really cared about their customers, they would upgrade these ancient devices. After a group of men broke into our storage unit, we were not allowed to see the video footage from their cameras unless a police officer came to their office and requested it. Also, how could someone have an access code to the building unless the thief is someone who is renting one of the units. Either that, or it was an inside job. The office also said that the thief might have just pushed the door in to get access to our unit since the lock did not look like it had been tampered with. I thought the locks they provide are suppose to be secure? How secure are they if they can be opened by just "pushing it in"? Perhaps the thief's have a master lock. Cameras inside the halls could also be helpful. read more

A-1 self storage has been amazing. I've never rented or seen a self storage unit before in real life.. never knew the process of how to open one or how big one is. Corina was so helpful in taking me around the premises to see how a 10x10 looked like and was so knowledgeable. She was so sympathetic and empathetic to what I was dealing with. Losing both my parents in such a short amount of time .. and not ready to go through their things yet.. so decided to look into renting a storage space. I ended up coming to this location rather than the one where Corina worked at.. and JoJo was just as helpful. I filled out the application online and it was super quick and easy. Literally within 15 mins, JoJo called me and asked when I was able to come in to obtain my keys. Talk about FAST service. Terrible experience with the staff here after someone broke into our storage and stole personal belongings. The security is also a joke no security but a few cameras only on the outside. Please think before to store your belongings here only option they have is to relocate and file a police report. What a joke for what everyone pays they should be able to hire an overnight security. read more

When we needed a storage facility, we explored all the options in the area. A-1 on Baroni was the only one that had everything we were looking for: 1. Excellent security. Most of the other facilities we visited consisted of units that could be individually accessed from outside. Even though there was some kind of fence or gate to get through, the potential for break-ins is obvious. At A-1 on Baroni, most of the units are contained in their large single building and the security system is excellent. If the passcode for the unit is not entered at the outside door, an alarm will sound. On one occasion, we entered when the door had been propped open by someone else, without entering our code at the front, using only the key to access our unit. Within seconds, Corina showed up, patiently and politely informing us of our mistake. 2. Temperature controlled. From previous experience, we know how heat from the sun can gradually destroy things over time when kept in an outside unit. At A-1 on Baroni, the nicely air-conditioned facility inside a large single building makes this a non issue. The A/C is also very pleasant on hot summer days, so visiting and sorting in the storage unit is much more comfortable. 3. Super clean. Aside from being a newer facility, A-1 on Baroni is also kept very clean. This really helps to make it pleasant to visit and store one's things in. It is clean both inside and outside, by the way. 4. Quality construction. The building and the units are very well constructed. The passcode system at the doors is easy to use. We like the way the door to the unit slides smoothly and without that terrible metallic noise that we have encountered at other places. The carts to move things in and out are convenient and well maintained, even though it can sometimes be a bit tricky to maneuver them around bends. 5. Wonderful customer service. We can't say enough good things about the manager we usually see on site, Corina. She is unfailingly pleasant, friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable and clear in all her explanations. It makes a tremendous difference, having this kind of person at the facility, as the "guardian angel" of our precious possessions. A few tips that might help others make the best use of this facility: * If there is no cart next to the door that you are accessing, you can usually find another one near another door or on a different floor. * Bring a small plastic bag for any trash you might have, as there are no garbage cans at the facility. * Always be sure to enter your code into the door to the building when you enter, even if the door is open (probably because someone else has propped it open, to move things in or out). Otherwise, the alarm will go off when you open your unit. After office hours, this could be inconvenient. * Some simple shelving, like the light plastic units sold at Home Depot or Lowe's, can help maximize the use of the space in your unit. * To increase your chances of getting a parking space, try to access your unit during non-peak times. read more

I've stored at several A-1 Storage locations and this is by far the best. The building is new and gorgeous (other places I've stored at are literally sheets of plywood). It is clean, well-lit, music playing. On top of it, the lady who works the desk is super sweet! She was so nice to me I was in awe. It made my day and made it very hassle-free when it came time for me to end my unit lease. I would definitely store here again, if need be. The only downfall: I can never seem to find a cart. It wasn't a huge deal for me since you can park right next to the elevator and my unit happened to be right outside the elevator in the building but for others this might be an issue. I only ever saw one and every time it was in use or was just no where to be found. Still will give 5 stars though because they have excellent customer service. But maybe supply another cart or two? Recently I rented 2 storage units here. The facility is great. All indoor, camera surveillance, great customer service, and the facility is super clean. The rates are great. I shopped around a few places and found that their monthly rates were the best. There is no lease contract. All month to month. I got the first month free with their online promotion. You can reserve the units online. Overall, I am very happy and know that everything I have stored will be safe and secure. You have access to your storage 7 days a week. When my husband accepted a job transfer to the San Jose area, I began my search for a storage facility. The selection of storage facilities was wide and vast in San Jose and pricing very competitive. We selected A-1 for several reasons. The close proximity and access to where we are living and the hours of operation. (This particularly came in handy when our move was delayed and we arrived behind schedule!). We were also very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. While it is true we are just storing "stuff", who would want their "stuff" being stored at a facility which is outside and could get wet? So, the fact that most of the units are indoors or under awnings is great. (Many facilities we looked at were outside and were not enclosed). The staff is some of the friendliest that I have ever met. They have been very professional and welcoming and accommodating. Wow..what a fabulous place. I was able to reserve a space 2:weeks in advance with no payment upfront. It allowed me to get the advertised specials and a month free deal.
