Beware of A-1 Self Storage! Customer service is poor as they will promise you a reasonable rate for a storage unit which will quickly increase nearly 50%. When I questioned A-1 regarding the huge increase in a matter of weeks of moving in, I was told that A-1 has the right to increase rates as they are "month-to-month." There are plenty of other storage places nearby for far cheaper and with much better customer service. read more

First I will say the service was top notch. That is good but it does not come close to making up for the price increases. My RENT got regularly jacked up each year due to simple greed it appears, because their explanation does not hold water. EG My rent went from $160 to $173 in the first 6 months: That's an annual increase of 16%! And over several years it averaged to 6%!, or say roughly $10 every month. Here is why greed (ie now you're moved in so they can jack up your price and your only choice is to move out, so you have no practical recourse) appears to be the only explanation. Say a COST (eg insurance or maintenance) got legitimately increased by 5%. And say that their maintenance cost for example on your unit is $8/month. That amounts to a justifiable increase of $8 X 5% = 40cents/month. Instead the increase is $10, or 25 times! the justifiable increase. Is that not abusive? read more

It turned out that I only needed their services for a mere few weeks, but the folks here are really nice! Adam and Maggie are awesome. :) Their location is a slightly older one, but is kept very clean. Getting a unit was an easy process along with a good promo. My daughter was making a move to San Jose from Southern California. She gave me the names of 3 storage facilities to check out. I went to the first one and the door was locked with no one in sight. I went to the second and the woman tried to sell me any number of units, all different sizes with all different locations within the general area. Her mantra seemed to be "Better sign up because you don't know if it will be taken soon." Both stops were for other than A-1 owned facilities. The 3rd stop was a charm with the absolute best guy in the world (Adam) behind the desk. He is professional and thorough and didn't display any neediness for my immediate reservation. He deserves a BIG raise for his perfect ways of explaining things and getting things done. What GREAT employee you have in Adam. read more

So I moved plenty of times these past few years. and Moving isn't the greatest thing to do. So when I had to find a storage unit to pack all of my belongings I was kinda fearful because of past bad experiences with Public Storage. But I am Super Happy with A1 Storage. The people there are great and very helpful. The units are Nice and Easy to get to. I would recommend this location to any one who needs a good sport to store their belongings. What impresses me the most is that the management actually remember who I am and say hi every time I am there. And if I happen to forget to pay my bill on time they take the time to give me a friendly call and remind me. Totally not like a bill connector. Love this place and the people that work there. Staff is professional and the place is clean. Everything was going well since 2014 until about two weeks ago when my unit was broken into. They asked for a list of things that were taken. I didn't have anything valuable in there because I had already started removing stuff and taking some of it to Salvation Army. What's left is old pictures, old cds, old school work and old equipment like an overhead project etc. He ransacked some of the boxes. The rest were clear plastic. you could see what's in there -- a bunch of nothing. They said two units were broken into and it happened after 10pm. Before you rent here make sure you have an inventoried list of everything you put in storage with pics. The next day I got a call from the management. Allen said they are working on additional security measures for the facility. That's good to know. read more

I came here in a huff looking for a small box to ship a tablet and wouldn't you know they only had big ones. Well, lucky for me Adam and Giovanna were there and they didnt let me leave empty handed. I was walking out the door and low and behold they found a box PERFECT for what I needed to ship. I don't have a storage here, but if I ever need one I'd definitely entrust my belongings here. We were in desperation with a truck load of furniture. We went to a recommended facility and it was the worst ever. I had my movers[Speedee Movers] there waiting and the owner of Speedee Movers made a call to A-1 Storage and set up a unit for us. Three trucks going thru San Jose to A-1. We were welcomed by the great people at A-1 and they had a nice unit all set. You want to talk about relief of tensions. The movers packed our furniture nicely in the unit ,put the lock on the door. We had sold our house and was in Reno Nv. picking up our new RV Coach and I forgot to pay the 1st months rent. I got a call from A-1 reminding me so I took care of it. They are very helpful. Sometimes the people hanging around are a little skep... but they are good about clearing people out who are really weirdos. A lot of the people there are also really nice. Two people helped me jump my car once when it died. Anyway, I've been leasing month to month here for about 9 months and I haven't had any issues with payment or safety and I really appreciate their help. read more

I have to start with the staff. James was definitely a character to be remembered. He's very good at what he does, and has a great sense of humor to. I was able to walk in and get out in a timely manner. I also got the First Month Free promo so that was a bonus! Before even arriving the storage site, James got in contact via phone because I had called prior to check to make sure they had the locker size I was trying to get, and I had told him to save that locker for me; that I was going to be there shortly. He called me back(about 15 minutes) letting me know exactly what I needed to bring to complete the rental process. Jame was very informative!! The storage site is clean, with onsite bathroom. The lobby has a very nice scent. They also sell locks, boxes, packaging related items on-site. Overall, I am very pleasant with my visit. Great friendly staff &good prices. read more
