In our first year at SecureSpace Storage, we have experienced several positives. The facility's proximity to our home has been a distinct advantage. The rental managers have consistently demonstrated exceptional politeness, helpfulness, and a welcoming attitude. The newer facility ensures a clean and well-maintained environment. Additionally, the indoor setting is nice if it happens to be raining. Parking has always been hassle-free, and carts are readily available for transporting our items into the unit. The convenient operating hours (6:00 AM to 10:00 PM) allow ample time for after work visits As an individual with mobility challenges, the elevators have proven to be a valuable feature. We have found that SecureSpace Storage has been transparent and fair in its pricing practices for the most part. Initially, we rented a 10x10 unit in December 2024, but our son moved home and a larger 10x20 unit was needed. The rental team promptly transferred our initial discount to the new unit, and our half-off offer remained in effect for the first two months as agreed upon. In the third month, the regular rate became applicable, but this was consistent with our prior understanding, eliminating any surprises. After four months, SecureSpace Storage informed us of a $150 increase in our rate. This unexpected change surprised us, as our experience in the Bay Area suggests that rate hikes are common after a year and typically ranged from 25% to 30%. At the time, our monthly rate was $253, making the $150 increase approximately 60%, which was a bit steep. Despite this, we decided to go ahead and pay it due to our positive experience and satisfaction with the unit. We also didn't want to take the time and effort in searching for an alternative storage facility, relocating our belongings, etc. In November, we received an email informing us that our rental rate would be increasing by 25%, resulting in a monthly increase from $403 to $503. I have started comparing our pricing to other units in the vicinity. I have identified some units where the non-discounted rents range from the high $200s to the mid $300s, and these units are comparable to ours (indoor units, elevators, roll-up doors, etc.). Interestingly, the most expensive non-discounted rate for a 10x20 unit is $351 on the SecureSpace website, $150 less than our rate increase price. At this juncture, I believe the most prudent course of action for my family is to hire someone to help us in clearing out our garage and attic, so we can store our belongings ourselves and thereby save money in the long term. Yes, I could talk to one of the managers about pricing options, but I'm not sure they'd be willing to drop us down to $351, which is what we'd ask for. I'm also concerned they'd raise the price up again after 2+ months, but I'd need to review my contract with them to make sure what their policies are. So to sum it up: For the good customer service, facility cleanliness, and convenience + 5 Stars. For the pricing/rate increases: - 2 Stars Total Review: 3 stars. If you're looking for a good facility to rent from, I would recommend Secure Space. Just be certain to ask about their rate increase policy, including frequency and percentages so you go in as an informed consumer. I've had a mixed experience with this storage facility . On the positive side the property is been clean and well maintained and feels secure . However the price has been extremely frustrating . I started at $98 a month for a small 5x10 unit and within 3 months it was increased to $120. Now less than a year another notice they are increasing again to $154. Only after 3 months they are raising the rents over 10% with 30 days notice! CA storage law demands 3 month notices to be given to renters if the storage is to raise the rent over 10%. The elevators brake down constantly because they do not have regular service as they should have. People get stuck in elevators for hours at the time! If you don't believe me go ask police department how many calls have been placed to 911 from people who were stuck in the elevator! The place is dirty and it is getting dirtier by the day! Broken glasses on my pathway to my unit I literally steeped up myself with the broom the "manager" of the facility watched and provided. Because they didn't had dust pan I pushed it to a corner! Where 10 days those stayed there! After I complained again, they went and picked it up; only to leave scattered pieces behind! A brand new building run in such horrible ways is what I don't understand! Instead running it the right way they simply rather try to rob the renters ILLEGALLY! They are truly professional, attentive, friendly and pleasant to work with, their assistance and support was greatly appreciated. Horrible Customer Experience, Overpriced unit. They screwed me over out of 300 dollars for a unit I had asked them to cancel to move in to a bigger one. But will no longer be doing business here. This place is just a cash grab, they don't care about customer service at all. You are paying for an overpriced unit. The rates go up every month practically. Here's how this place works. They lure you in with a reasonable rate and a discount when you first move in. Once your promotional rate ends, they ramp up your rate past the full price you were promised. They're assuming that people won't want to go through the effort of moving, so they will just stay and pay $100+ more than the "full" price advertised. I walk down the hallways in this place and fully a third to a half of the units are vacant. Instead of trying to reduce vacancies, they seem to prefer to bank on people not wanting to go through the effort of moving out. This place is also constantly having issues. Half the time we've been here, all of their security has basically been down. The main gate that should be opened with a code is open, the sliding doors from the garage that are also supposed to be locked are open. Elevators have been down multiple times. They run out of carts. Truly awful. Unfortunately for them, we will move out and all they will have to show for it is another vacant unit, bad reviews on multiple platforms, and if anyone asks me about storage, I will recommend against this place. read more

I had not even considered getting a storage unit until I helped a friend move things into temporary storage here. I was so impressed with the facility and staff that I decided that moving my shelving units filled with holiday decor, etc was a great idea. Now that I have an empty garage the ideas on how to use the extra space are flowing. It is nice that it is so close to home and a breeze to get things in and out of the unit, I feel like it is an extension of my garage! The absolute best part is that it so nice to drive into an enclosed facility where I can load and unload unhampered by weather or darkness. SecureSpace Storage clearly doesn't care about their customers -- only about your credit card number. I reserved a unit, but when I showed up, it had already been given to someone else. The staff moved me into another unit, but then charged me twice. They claimed to have submitted a refund request, but it's been over a week -- still no refund and no follow-up. I also returned the cylinder lock as their website says to do for a refund. That refund? Also never processed. This place might look clean, but the way they handle (or ignore) billing issues is unacceptable. If you value transparency and customer service, look elsewhere. read more

DO NOT COME HERE, SAVE YOURSELVES THE TROUBLE. This is one of those money grab storage facilities that's constantly changing their prices on customers. I got my 5x10 unit back toward the end of March & they had a (bogus) $37/month for the first two months deal & it was $74/month each month after (+$12 for their insurance)... Well, the fine print meant I actually had to pay $115 to move into the unit, & they applied the half off the first month to that-- otherwise it would've been $152+... then on May 1, they charged me full price ($86) & again on June 09: I was charged the full $86. (Turns out they only gave me half off the first month, not the first 2 as they promised) NOW, get this... today (June 30) I received an email saying that on August 1st, my new monthly payment was going to be $133!!!! That's an almost $60 increase within less than a year!?! WHAT A SCAM!!!!! PLUS the $12 for insurance (if they don't increase that too), making my new total $145/month for a little 5x10 space. My brain can't even begin to fathom how ridiculous & corrupted this is. And when I called to ask why it's going up so much, all the call center lady said was "We have no control over what your local storage facility does with their prices and you signed all the documents so you agreed to it." SO THAT BEING SAID-- LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES AND TRY NOT TO MAKE THE SAME ONES!!! I will be moving all my stuff out of here and taking my business elsewhere ASAP. Automatic doors are down after 4 pm on May 4. They advertise until 10 pm. Cannot access my storage unit as a result. There was a sign on the entrance, but customers were *not* notified in advance. The facility is excellent. The management is not. read more

Today I went to my storage to get something that I needed ASAP and the elevators were out for maintenance. No notification or notice was sent to customers to inform them of the situation. There were other customers also in the garage with a big U-Haul unable to get in. We both contacted customer service and they couldn't do nothing about it until the next day. On top of that the representative was so rude that they hung up the phone on me. I pay for services and I should be able to get to my stuff whenever I need to. And today they raise the prices of the monthly fee but I'm not able to get in. There is no communication at all. I might have to rethink if I should move my storage elsewhere, if they don't fix these. read more

reserved a unit online. Do not do this. Showed up in person at 12:30 PM on the date that my lease began which I had signed and prepaid online in full. Gate code worked correctly and I drove into the parking space. Went to my unit and it was locked with someone else's lock because someone else had occupied it or they had given me the wrong unit number. Called customer support. They were not able to rent me a new unit or explain what it happened. They tried to reach the manager but of course there's nobody here and I'm all alone in the building. They said the manager will come meet me but he never did so I called and they said they will text me when they're coming and no one did. After an hour I called again and I said I've been sitting here for an hour ready to occupy my unit but I can't because no one is here and the the front door says we'll be back at 9:30 AM tomorrow. So they check and they say oh sorry it opened at 2 PM today even though those aren't the website hours posted on the store or their website or in the lease. Now I'm sitting here and it's way past 2 PM and there's still nobody here. All the customer support does is tell you lies. If you read down further you will see someone else had a similar experience where they rented out the wrong unit to him or someone else had taken it. This is the problem with letting people come in for the very first time and take possession of the unit without a manager being here. There is nothing to stop someone from occupying an empty unit and being in the wrong unit. Obviously they should require you to meet the manager on the very first day so that he can verify you are taking possession of the correct numbered unit. I've almost wasted two hours of my life not counting the time spent this morning signing up which took forever. Whatever you do, do not sign up for the space online if you do choose to rent from them. Make sure that you meet a living human being on the day that you take possession and make sure they give you the right unit number. I fully expect to be charged twice because that's what the other guy said happened to him and he's still waiting for a refund.
