The rental managers have consistently demonstrated exceptional politeness, helpfulness, and a welcoming attitude. The newer facility ensures a clean and well-maintained environment. Additionally, the indoor setting is nice if it happens to be raining. Parking has always been hassle-free, and carts are readily available for transporting our items into the unit. The convenient operating hours (6:00 AM to 10:00 PM) allow ample time for after work visits As an individual with mobility challenges, the elevators have proven to be a valuable feature. We have found that SecureSpace Storage has been transparent and fair in its pricing practices for the most part. Initially, we rented a 10x10 unit in December 2024, but our son moved home and a larger 10x20 unit was needed. The rental team promptly transferred our initial discount to the new unit, and our half-off offer remained in effect for the first two months as agreed upon. In the third month, the regular rate became applicable, but this was consistent with our prior understanding, eliminating any surprises. After four months, SecureSpace Storage informed us of a $150 increase in our rate. This unexpected change surprised us, as our experience in the Bay Area suggests that rate hikes are common after a year and typically ranged from 25% to 30%. At the time, our monthly rate was $253, making the $150 increase approximately 60%, which was a bit steep. Despite this, we decided to go ahead and pay it due to our positive experience and satisfaction with the unit. We also didn't want to take the time and effort in searching for an alternative storage facility, relocating our belongings, etc. In November, we received an email informing us that our rental rate would be increasing by 25%, resulting in a monthly increase from $403 to $503. I have started comparing our pricing to other units in the vicinity. I have identified some units where the non-discounted rents range from the high $200s to the mid $300s, and these units are comparable to ours (indoor units, elevators, roll-up doors, etc.). Interestingly, the most expensive non-discounted rate for a 10x20 unit is $351 on the SecureSpace website, $150 less than our rate increase price. At this juncture, I believe the most prudent course of action for my family is to hire someone to help us in clearing out our garage and attic, so we can store our belongings ourselves and thereby save money in the long term. Yes, I could talk to one of the managers about pricing options, but I'm not sure they'd be willing to drop us down to $351, which is what we'd ask for. I'm also concerned they'd raise the price up again after 2+ months, but I'd need to review my contract with them to make sure what their policies are. So to sum it up: For the good customer service, facility cleanliness, and convenience + 5 Stars. For the pricing/rate increases: - 2 Stars Total Review: 3 stars. If you're looking for a good facility to rent from, I would recommend Secure Space. Just be certain to ask about their rate increase policy, including frequency and percentages so you go in as an informed consumer. She was patient, helpful, and personable! She gave tours, told us our options, and was thorough while I was signing. She made paperwork not bad at all since we were chatting as she was getting all the paperwork done. She was helpful explaining between the units. Once things were signed, she helped clean our unit and even wiped down the sides for us. She said she sprayed the unit with her own special concoction to help repel bugs naturally. The cameras they have installed are really bad quality and the video footage is so pixelated. If they really cared about their customers, they would upgrade these ancient devices. After a group of men broke into our storage unit, we were not allowed to see the video footage from their cameras unless a police officer came to their office and requested it. Also, how could someone have an access code to the building unless the thief is someone who is renting one of the units. Either that, or it was an inside job. The office also said that the thief might have just pushed the door in to get access to our unit since the lock did not look like it had been tampered with. I thought the locks they provide are suppose to be secure? How secure are they if they can be opened by just "pushing it in"? Perhaps the thief's have a master lock. Cameras inside the halls could also be helpful.

I started at $61/month, but the rent was raised like clockwork every 6-9 months, to $113, then $147, then $180, with another hike to $205 scheduled. That's more than TRIPLE the starting price for the exact same unit (4x10) The kicker: when I went to schedule a move-out, they immediately "approved" a lower rate -- proof the increases were arbitrary and that loyal, quiet customers just get charged more. Great move-in deal, but go in knowing your price will climb fast. Watch your statements and be ready to push back or walk. The facility itself was pretty clean, and move-out was easy.

However, when I went into the office this past weekend to notify staff that I had moved out, I overheard Brandi informing another customer that the exact same unit size was currently being offered at promotional rates between $60.00 and $115.00 per month. When I asked why I was paying $242.00 for the same unit, she laughed and told me, "The trick is to keep moving units around so the rental fee stays low." It would have been helpful--and fair--to have been informed of this option at any point over the last year or two. Instead, I continued paying significantly higher rates while promotional pricing was clearly available. This feels misleading and inconsistent, especially when some customers are made aware of strategies to reduce their costs while long-term, loyal customers are not. Additionally, I experienced ongoing customer service issues, including unanswered calls and messages, limited office availability, and office hours that are not practical for customers who work standard 9-5 schedules. I believe your company should re-evaluate how pricing transparency and customer service are handled at this location. Long-term customers who consistently pay on time should not feel penalized for their loyalty. I would appreciate a review of my account and an explanation regarding the rate discrepancies. I was told it was because it's a first floor unit, but I looked online and the non-discounted price was $300 (discounted to $200). District manager gave me the same BS and eventually stopped responding to me. I moved a few units down for $100 cheaper per month. I've read articles that most of the bigger storage places do this same BS. There should be a limit of how much they can increase every year. For the storage itself, the door to the units on the right side don't stay open and I have found mice nests in my boxes. The gate for the unit is also beat to hell and doesn't latch easily.
