I recently moved out of my storage unit at the Public Storage on Evans on November 30, 2025, and I want to share my wonderful experience. From the day I moved into the day I closed out; Anna was there to help every step of the way. Anna has been incredibly helpful, warm, and knowledgeable about the space. Her kind energy made me feel safe and taken care of throughout my entire time using the facility. It's rare to find someone who truly goes above and beyond, and Anna did exactly that. Price increases every three months. Intro rate goes up $30-$50 then. They tell you it is the market rate not actually the storage owner operator who is raising prices. Service people great help. Not a problem but the market should not control the price this closely. IMO It's like penny pinching if you look at it deeper. read more

After 6 months, I was hit with a 22% price increase ($360 to )440) with just 30 days notice. Worse, the advertised ate on their site is now LESS than I originally agreed to. They get you in, and after you've spent the time and money to move, know they have you hostage. BEWARE of PS shady business practices and ask about rate increases prior to signing any contract. Or better yet, choose a local small business who isn't a predatory corporation. I'm moving out despite the cost because I will not support their corrupt business model and I'm posting this review to hopefully save you a similar experience. As for quality, rodent droppings were found in the bathroom. Additionally, this particular site is located adjacent to a large encampment where waste litters the street, broken down vehicles and RVs are abundant, and people are actively using drugs and passed out on fentanyl. read more

Had a theft ring sign up for indoor storage here... they had access all night to clean out several units including mine, and even managed to come back to remove all the stolen items after being arrested because the 'manager' on duty let them back in to 'get their stuff'. I have nothing else to say about the stupidity of that. read more

I've had a storage unit here for over a decade (because city living) and recently downsized to a smaller unit. Eric, the manager, was so helpful and went above and beyond to make it a great experience and it couldn't have been easier. The facility is always clean and well maintained and his excellent service on top of that was really the icing on the cake. When booking the unit, I was told by the property manager that It was MANDATORY to have insurance on the unit as I could not open one without it. Not knowing the policy or the regulation behind it, I went ahead and paid for the insurance monthly and did not question the company about it. Only after I continued to pay the insurance fee for a little over 8 months, I discovered that it was optional. I contacted the insurance company and spoke with Ana and there was no solution, empathy or rectification for the issue. They simply do not care. Head's up! If you are getting a unit you DO NOT NEED TO BUY INSURANCE. read more

I would give it a zero rating if I could. Woman yelled at me this morning and hung up on me saying she would just have the district manager talk to me after I questioned a charge. Whether or not I sign a contract, I have every right to ask about charges. She mentioned my contract and asked if I had even read it, instead of talking with me she belittled me. I believe she is the regular manager, she was hostile and uncommunicative. I really hope they record phone calls, as I'm sure nothing can be done unless they do. I would advise Public Storage to review the recording, I'm honestly still in shock. read more

THIS IS A PREDATORY BUSINESS. BUYER BEWARE! Do yourself a favor and read all of the negative reviews. Notice the consistencies and commonalities between those reviews. Disgusting and unsafe conditions, security gates and doors not maintained, holes in the fences, frequent thefts, horrible customer service, and frequent, ridiculously high rent increases. In addition, the district manager is unreachable and will not return calls or emails. The positive reviews are complete B.S., and oddly most of them mention the managers by name....hmm. It is also suspicious how few reviews there are, considering the volume of business they do at that location. read more

The Evans Street facility in San Francisco is understaffed, so Ana has to do the work of two or three people, but she does it cheerfully, efficiently and courteously. The facility is clean and in good condition, and the website provides a clear map. It is in a convenient location off the Bayshore Freeway. The Public Storage billing system seems not to work properly, as it did not recognize our credit card payment, but we trust this will be sorted out. read more

This review is for the light above my unit that has been out for over half a year. I've asked repeatedly to have it fixed and was told it would be every time. However I am still left in the dark (no pun intended). It's been so long now that I am developing night-vision and extremely white skin as a result. I'm also getting random cuts and bruises from bumping into items as I walk around my unit due to the lack of light. read more

Eric is super helpful and on point. The costs have gone up quite a bit over the last 10 years... I'd probably ball if it wasn't for Eric.

My friend and I moved to Sf and needed a unit to store our extra stuff we couldn't fit in our apt. The property manager Ana is so freaking rude and so damn arrogant down talks you like if you were 5 and always tries to oversell. She told my friend that at the moment she wasn't able to show her any units, that if she wanted she could take the one she was offering which was more expensive. We liked the area because it big enough to bring moving trucks with any congestion but honestly PS has to do something about their property manager. At times it seems like Ana would be in a OK mood and before you know it she can walk right pass you and not even greet you. Horrible customer service. We did have the pleasure to meet Eric on a weekend and he's the total opposite of what she is. He definitely knows what he's doing and has great positive attitude ALWAYS. PS will lose a lot of customers in the long run if you continue to have Ana manage that property. Reconsider that position to someone worthy of bringing in more satisfied customers. We believe Eric would be the BEST person to fill that position at a 100% satisfactory rate. Eric THANK YOU for ALWAYS helping us meet our needs. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. I love the location and the price. However, I say absolutely avoid this space if you require a remote signing of a lease. They offer no way of signing or certifying the lease remotely and then having authorized users move in your things. This is essential this day in age and in a city like San Francisco. Its backwards! I am disappointed in their policies and lack of response so far in trying to reach them today. I moved away from San Francisco and a friend moved me in quickly just yesterday. Unfortunately, there was no way to remotely certify the lease under my name after being shuffled around from customer service representatives, leaving a message with the manager (who should be answering during business hours but has not been all day), and calling the district manager, who called back relatively quickly to say this is a corporate policy with no way around it besides moving out everything! This is telling of a company that puts customers last when competitors of theirs found easy, safe solutions to the same problem. With an adequate response and offer of solution, I would change my review of them quickly. In contrast, their rival Extra Space Storage had representatives available with no wait who were extremely knowledgeable and offered an easy solution to not being onsite when customers are not able to sign the lease by doing it at their locations across the country. read more

The pricing here is awful. They lure you in with an online discount and then raise your rates every six months. My rent has gone up 45% in one year and all they say is too bad. There are no limits to the rent increase. Read the contract carefully. It's month-to-month and the best they will do is tell you to move out or downsize units. read more

Made a reservation and to my surprise when I arrived they said that there are no storage units available. Their policy is that rooms are first come first serve. What is the point of reservation if it does not guarantee you any spot? Avoid. read more

I have been using this storage for several years, there are public storage facility more convenient and close to my home but I choose to rent at this location because of the excellent management in place. His name is Bayo, he is a gentleman and a professional individual. He looks after the property like a mother hen. Conrado is awesome. Good building overall, but PS should put some money into keeping it maintained. Good location just south of downtown with easy access from the highway. I had seen two other storage buildings before this one and they both had people using the units as day-time residences, which is a sad reality in SF. When I arrived at Public Storage at 2090 Evans, I was greeted by a man with a beautiful smile, an open heart, and most importantly, no judgement. Bayo was friendly, knowledgeable, informative, professional and fast. We were registered and out of there in 10 minutes! Seriously! He even took the time to show me 3 different choices of lockers, including the price, size and location. I even bought the monthly insurance for $15/month, covers unto $5000 incase of fire, theft, damage, etc. I love my storage locker! It has hardwood floors, high ceilings and skylights. You can rent a flatbed dolly for free! You just need to leave your driver's license. The facility is very clean and well lit. The best part is you have access from 6am to 9pm. Note to self: You can only use the dolly during Office hours from 10am to 6pm so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to load and unload your items before 6pm, otherwise, the office keeps your license overnight as collateral so you will return the dolly in the morning. I wish I knew the name of the gal that helped us sign our lease on 11/15 because she was fabulous. She was there alone, having a rough day and about to go on her lunch break when we showed up. But instead of being grumpy and frustrated with us she was funny and patient and thorough! We were chatting with her and laughing the whole time. I would definitely give customer service 5+ stars. One star off because the facilities are a bit funky and maze like. To check out a dolly you have to park, walk all the way around the building to the office and then all the way back around to your unit. It's a pain and you can only borrow a dolly during office hours. But all in all, conditions are clean and safe enough and they have the cheapest rates around for a storage unit! read more

Signed up with "first month free" online discount. You end up paying pretty close to the first month's rent after overpaying for a lock and first-time registration fees. My rent increased by $29 after the first five months. I moved out five days after my last month's payment, refused to refund/pro-rate unused amount. Complete and total ripoff. read more
