SecureSpace Self Storage Richmond - Self Storage Near Me - Richmond, California

Highly Recommend! : The space is Clean, and Easy to navigate. I worked with Jared who also manages the Berkeley site. He was vey professional, courteous, and ready to help. He was willing to make a sincere effort in helping me, and I really appreciated it, it made my day. Thanks Jared! : ) read more

Will did a great job discussing the storage space and related details. He was very helpful and easy to work with.

My rate was raised nearly 40% after my first 2 months, going from $200/month to $275. My rate was not advertised as an intro rate, so the rapid increase felt akin to price gouging. My advice to the business is to be upfront about rental rates, and not to mislead customers. read more

We called to get more information for my grandmother & a worker named Ecarriae helped us out ! He was extremely insightful & respectful. If you go in I highly recommend speaking to him. He seems to know his way around & gave us the information we needed to move forward with the storage space . Thank you !! read more

EJ was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I have a party rental business and store my things there. I have been at this facility and never spoke to the staff because an old manger use to have an "oh well" attitude whenever i had an issue, so i figured maybe all the staff there sucks and had that same attitude and i made it my mission to just pay my bill and don't say a word to them because they are rude and don't care. But EJ changed that perspective by being so helpful and polite every time i come by he even asks me how was my last event when he sees me loading my last events things back in storage! He's great! read more

Updating review. A year and a half later, their rate has more than doubled from what it was. Place is still clean and well kept, but the random rate increases aren't so cool. read more

Raised my rate NINETY DOLLARS ($90) per month after I'd only been renting there for a few months. The cost literally DOUBLED just over the course of like 4 months (from $129 to $219). Absolutely insane. Never seen anything like this in my 20+ years of renting storage space. Moved out a few days later; will never go back. Madness. read more

This facility is a mess. One security gate has been broken for 4 months, there's strange chemical odors on the 3rd floor like someone is cooking drugs in the facility, and after 2-3 months of renting a unit they will raise your rent by 50%. I do not recommend this facility unless they address these issues, but after raising them to management they seem to continue to go unaddressed. EDIT: I've already contacted the business twice regarding these issues with no effect. Do not let the response below mislead you to think they care about you as a customer or their facility. read more

Absurd pricing. They will raise the rent on you. They have raised the prices 3 times in the last year. Expect pay double what you sign up for after 2 months. read more

The place is brand spanking new. My Berkeley student complained as it's not just down the street from campus, but the finer details like being safe while loading and unloading the car, not having bedbugs or vermin transferring onto our stuff, and not having people loitering at the storage unit are things I keep in mind when choosing a storage place. Yes it's a 25 minute drive from campus, but worth it. read more

A Heartbreaking & Devastating Experience I'm writing this review with deep emotional pain & frustration after what I've endured with SecureSpace Self Storage. As the most damaging storage unit experience, I must warn others. I moved into their Richmond facility expecting a normal business. But only 3 months later, I was hit with a crazy 73% rent increase. When I rightfully pushed back and questioned this greedy & unfair change, rather than addressing my concerns, They chose to terminate my lease altogether. The person responsible for this decision was John McFadden, the area director, who clearly demonstrated a lack of empathy, professionalism, or basic human decency. The forced and sudden eviction created chaos in my life. With no money, I was forced to scramble for an emergency move-out. All while starting at SFSU, & I had no choice but to withdraw from all classes. I missed over two weeks due to being displaced, under immense stress, and physically unwell. To make matters worse, I was bitten by a poisonous spider there and had to be hospitalized. The pain, bills, & trauma of this experience compounded everything I was already facing. Because of SecureSpace's ruthless & unethical behavior, I fell into a deep depression & suffered financial hardship that I'm still trying to recover from. I am now stuck with thousands of dollars in student loan debt for classes I couldn't complete--all because of this company's exploitative actions. SecureSpace operates on deceptive bait-&-switch tactics, using low rates to lure you in, only to hike them up and push you out if you resist. Their management--especially John McFadden--acted with cold disregard for the well-being of a struggling student just trying to survive. If I had the means, I would take legal action. But right now, I'm just trying to pick up the pieces. Please, stay far away from SecureSpace if you value your well-being, peace of mind, or financial stability. They are not just a bad business. They are a cruel one. read more

SecureSpace Self Storage Richmond - Area mgr ignoring facts and failures and enabling bad business and ill treatment - Self Storage Near Me - Richmond, California

Location, location, location. I would not go there at night. The facility is beautiful but to scary in rough neighborhood.

Great helpful friendly mgmnt & clean convenient easy to find location off highway 580.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! They are thieves and scammers. First they doubled my rent after 2 months of being there. This is part of their business strategy to catch you off guard after an initial promise of low rent. Then they drilled my lock off and stole thousands of dollars in tools from me. When asked to investigate they said they don't have cameras in the hallway. When I moved in they promised me that they did have cameras I all the hallways. They flat out lied. To make matters worse, as soon as you are past due one month they quickly move to auction your belongings off and wont even work with you on payments to get caught up . They are greedy and selfish and horrible to do business with. STAY AWAY Please!!! read more

Well, they pretty much will lose my business too (not that they care). From all the places I've rented from in the past they've had the courtesy to send a notice of price increase at least a couple months before the change. When I first signed up I asked how long it would take for price increase (because we all know it happens at one point), Johnathan stated at least 6 months. I'm *almost* 4 months in and already have a 50% increase, from $98 to $147, just like that, not even a notice. They must think I have a very fruitful money tree. I knew this place was sketchy after 2 months moving in when they sent me an email that they would be taking an additional $12 for the tenant protection plan. I called them right away because I know I had brought proof of coverage and the guy even made copies. Apparently, some software issue had erased my documents. How hard was it to reach out to me or to other affected customers and explain the situation rather than automatically deduct an additional amount monthly? The manager was very rude and obviously very annoyed explaining that I needed proof of protection, I told him I knew and had already brought in the documents the day I signed up for the damn storage. read more

Clean brightly lit accommodations. Billie is the epitome of customer service. She walked me through every detail of becoming a tenant. She deserves a raise. read more

Located in SF which is very convenient for me. It's very secure and safe. And clean. There are always carts to carry items to units.

Great place, great price, friendly people, working communication. But you have to sign an arbitration agreement, so like any other company trying to get me to give up my legal rights, they should get a big fat EPIC FAIL rating no matter how good the service was. They could have a gold fairy that gilds all your belongings overnight and it wouldn't be worth giving up my right to a fair hearing. Nice try. read more

WARNING: Do NOT get sucked into this place. They do an excellent sales job...but it's a total bait and switch. I was just informed of an 40% PRICE INCREASE after having only been a customer for 3 months. This was management's response: "Lastly, the increase amount is never specified to anyone and the timeframe for an increase isn't set. Increases can happen at any time during your stay with us." They're shady AF...and you have zero protection as a customer. Go elsewhere. Seriously. read more

This is big, brand new facility in Richmond. While a little hard to get do, once you do it's a great, beautiful facility it's big spotlessly clean, with great storage lockers and covered spaces. The staff ( Especially Jackie and Ashley) were great from the first phone through check in. Come check it out before you dismiss it because of the location. read more

Have a lot of extra things that needed storage. Looked around for many places and unfortunately nothing was working out. My wife and I showed up to this facility and were greeted by Billie. She was super helpful, informative, and very polite. Gave us a tour, showed us two units, we signed docs right then and there. Very clean, inside storage, easy access. Definitely check it out if you are in need of extra storage space. Price is the most affordable out of all other storages I visited. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! These are the worst kind of bait-and-switch unethical scammers. They lure you in with a low rate and then within the first two months they raise the price 25%. What a scam! And for a facility in the WORST neighborhood. Save your time and money and go with another storage facility in a much better location closer to the 580. read more

Manager was very helpful in explaining everything. The customer service was a 10 out of 10. All staff was very nice and welcoming. The facility was extremely clean and well maintained. Best storage i have seen. read more

I was very impress, with the cleanliness of the facility. Johnathan and Billy were very welcoming and were great in explaining the storage size i needed that would best fit what I was storing , and very helpful in explaining the locations of the storage space and where the restrooms are and fire exit are . I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and relatives. read more

Jonathan and Davina were amazing at checking me in, making me comfortable showing me the facility and were very professional. They answered all my questions and selected the unit that best suited my needs! Highly recommend! Johnathan was an excellent help. He showed me around, helped with my lock, pushed my baby in a stroller, so I could push the dolly, and found a water spicket for my friends van that over heated. I highly recommend renting her. It's clean, me, friendly, and very secure. read more

Started renting in late Jan at $49. Was told in June that my rate would be increased to $84.60, even though the public price for my unit is $77. From the reviews, sounds like I am not the only person affected. read more

Total bait and switch. Signed up in January of this year at $51 per month. Was a few dollars cheaper than local competition. At the time we signed up, manager told us we could pay a year in advance before a rate increase. Lo and behold, six months later our rate is DOUBLING to $91 per month, and no, we can't pay a year in advance, and the manager that told us that is no longer with the company. Take my advice, find an honest place instead. read more

My girlfriend was moving out of her apartment, and we took longer than we expected. We arrived at the storage a little before closing. Billie, the lady that worked there, was very kind and let us quickly store my girlfriend's belongings in 30 minutes, even though she had to stay after closing hours. We are extremely thankful and hope she gets a raise, because she is nothing short of an angel. Furthermore, this was the cheapest place around, and the only one to restrain from using scammy, money grabbing policies. Strongly recommend. read more

New, clean, well maintained, well run. A great value. Easy access, safe and secure.
