Mary the manager lives on site, and has picked up on a Friday night when I was going to leave a voicemail. Mary is very organized and made it very easy to downsize to a smaller unit. During office hours 9-6pm, every day except holidays there's a maintenance person on site as well. Who knows if their payment system was hacked (it happens) or if this was a worker who had access to card #s, or something else (could even be someone guessing #s I assume.) My daughter had a reservation for September 19, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer located at 521 Appian Way in El Sobrante, CA, including a truck and an appliance dolly. When she arrived, she was informed that the truck and appliance dolly were not available at that location and that she would need to travel to another Neighborhood Dealer at 3131 San Pablo Dam Road in San Pablo, CA. After arriving at the second location, she was told that although trucks were available, they could not rent one to her and that we would need to go to the U-Haul location in Richmond. By the time we reached the Richmond location, we were understandably frustrated. However, Mr. Myron Spraggins Sr. completely changed the experience. From the moment he assisted us, he was empathetic, compassionate, courteous, patient, and professional. He listened to my daughter's concerns, acknowledged her frustration, and, most importantly, took ownership of helping find a solution rather than allowing the situation to continue escalating. Mr. Spraggins went above and beyond to turn a negative experience into a positive one. He made the process smooth, easy, and fast, while making my daughter feel heard and respected.
