Hike is someone who you would want to manage customers and customer service. He was friendly, informative and helped us through the move in process and security. Hike has forgotten more about storage facilities than anyone could hope to learn. They have a handy freight elevator, Available carts and dollies to move and a clean, well kept building that is well lit, and climate controlled. However, my experience with YSP has been an exception to the latter. Ever since the first phone call when I set up my first two units with YSP, the staff has been exceptional in their help, advice and flexibility. I am now renting unit number five from them in my preparation to move abroad once again. They have always acted in ways that serve my best interests rather than only being concerned with their own needs as I have found other storage facilities often do. They are willing to go the extra mile to insure I want to use continue to use their facility. In my history with other storage facilities, the reverse of this attitude has often been my experience with the facility operators usually threatening the fact that they have waiting lists, yada, yada, yada. Almost forgot to mention that payments are done online and are easy to make. You really won't regret using Your Storage Place. Elray and Bill are tops in customer service and satisfaction. On top of that we've seen piles of trash and needles left from them hanging out overnight. Another concerning issue was that our exterior unit had been broken into, apparently it happens on a regular basis, despite it being a "secure" climate controlled building. Then there is this extrnsive process to file claims for stolen or damaged items. They want proof of purchase on all items lost. Then they had a sprinkler leak in our unit that destroyed much of our documents, keepsakes and photos. They cut the lock off without notifying us in advance. Again a claim was impossible to complete and the list goes on and on, and was brought to the management's attention, multiple times but they seemed to not care, and even seemed annoyed that it was even brought up. Oh, during a four year period they raised our rent from $175 to $579 for a 10x30, knowing that we had moved out of state. When we moved out the unit ) which we put off too long like most storage renters) it was full of rats which had destroyed half of the contents! overall, i wouldn't recommend this place and would definitely take my business elsewhere…read more calling over the phone is basically pointless. you get connected to random representatives who don't actually help with questions about your specific unit. it feels super disconnected and frustrating when you're trying to get clear answers. the policies are also really inconsistent and honestly unfair. my brother's monthly rate literally doubled with no notice, which is not only inconvenient but also feels really unprofessional. there doesn't seem to be any transparency or consistency in pricing. the only positive experience i had was with olivia. she was the one employee who actually took the time to help and answer questions clearly. everyone else, on the other hand, was quick to threaten sending my account to collections if i didn't pick up my belongings right after my paid month ended. this was especially frustrating because another representative had already told me my items would simply be auctioned off after that period, so i was getting completely conflicting information. overall, the communication is poor, the policies are unreasonable, and the customer service is not helpful. i wouldn't recommend this facility at all.
