Don't waste your time or money on this facility. First, they have a homeless problem at Sunset and 281 that isn't disclosed by the staff. On top of that we've seen piles of trash and needles left from them hanging out overnight. Another concerning issue was that our exterior unit had been broken into, apparently it happens on a regular basis, despite it being a "secure" climate controlled building. Then there is this extrnsive process to file claims for stolen or damaged items. They want proof of purchase on all items lost. Then they had a sprinkler leak in our unit that destroyed much of our documents, keepsakes and photos. They cut the lock off without notifying us in advance. Again a claim was impossible to complete and the list goes on and on, and was brought to the management's attention, multiple times but they seemed to not care, and even seemed annoyed that it was even brought up. Oh, during a four year period they raised our rent from $175 to $579 for a 10x30, knowing that we had moved out of state. When we moved out the unit ) which we put off too long like most storage renters) it was full of rats which had destroyed half of the contents! I'm a long-time customer of Public Storage. I currently have 2 units in different cities 1700 miles apart because I travel for my job. I need to put a vehicle in storage so yesterday I searched for a unit at a Public Storage nearby snd found a 10x30 that cost $250 (!!!) but was "On-Sale" for half price. When I tried to book it, the price automatically increased back to $250. I just got a call from the Public Storage facility and they told me I didn't qualify for the price they were advertising because I was already a customer. So if you are a customer of Public Storage, they think they can blatantly fleece you. Good to know. Fortunately, there are tons of other storage facilities out there. I could move out of my other units PS units but on the other hand, those sites have never tried to take advantage of me. read more

I have used this facility several times since 1997. Each experience has been helpful. The current manager, OJ is always roaming the property to maintain cleanliness and safety. Several months ago I transferred to a smaller unit easily when I brought it to his attention. Until there is a time that I no longer need extra storage I will use this property. I have been using this location for the past 8 years on and off. I trust the new security they've installed. Tom and Alex are wonderful. They call you when it's absolutely necessary. The customer service representative on Sunday September 8 at this location did not enforce the requirement to have a customer park in a parking stall which led to my vehicle sticking out onto a Main Street. He stated he did not take sides but would not ask the other guy whom he knew on first name basis, to park in the appropriate spot. We had to request the police to intervene. The other guy left before the police arrived. I have been at that facility for years and have never had such a bad experience. The employees should know better as this entrance is very limited in space. read more

The broadway location is better, easier access and nicer staff. Grouchy old men at sunset. ;). The manager Tom seems ok. And greeted me with a smile as "Alex" told another customer he chose not to deal with me. Due to me telling him how rude and inhospitable he sounded on the phone. "Alex" had zero hospitality and comes across rude to me. Maybe he did not like me on the phone? Then he does nothing to compensate for his unprofessionalism when I arrive. Acting high and mighty. I am always nice until not treated nice. And I gently express it. No worries. Very unprofessional! These two gentlemen enjoy talking badly and judging openly about clients and customers when they leave the room. I witnessed it and a cpl friends went in shortly after for a unit as well. They both heard them Speaking and sharing this negativity and other unbecoming personal judgements to other clients or customers. Very unprofessional and very inhospitable. Plenty of other Public storages. Don't use this one. Broadway location near loop 410 has an Awesum staff! Don't do it. you will be harassed by manager. Verbal warning that cops will be called and trespass ticket will be given by SAPD and they will have you locked it until their arrival even when they are open with time to spare. Moving company showed up with a big truck to unload had the drivers all frantic. Hours are are very unreasonable and no one can possible operate within the limits. We have already moved our company storage unit. 2 more to go. Manager says that Cooperate mandates this harassment. Very unsatisfied. read more

Great storage unit and Tom was nice at first. I have had a unit with them for almost 5 years. (On and off because I moved once) anyways.. In June my bill went up. No notice no nothing of it going up. That's just ridiculous. Tom told me every year it always goes up. Umm...no it doesn't. In the 5 years I've had it that's never happened. I moved out of it and got a new one by my house with air condition and it's bigger aaannndddd it's a Public Storage for $116. Tom was charging me $129 for a small one and it was outside.
