Public Storage excels in getting you into a unit quick and easy. It's honestly very impressive. Where they lack GREATLY is any shape or form of support by either phone or written communication. Chat is really your only option, which is of course outsourced to a cheap labor country, and they will drop your chat in a couple of minutes if you're not babysitting the chat; they can take up to 10 minutes to message you back but if you take more than 3, they will just close the chat. I scheduled move out on the 23rd of February for two of my four units. I checked on my March bill and both units are still present. Huh. So I schedule move out again. The end of the month comes around and they managed to move out one unit but the most expensive one is still there. I schedule move out on that unit for a THIRD time on March 30th. I put it in the back of my mind; I have work to do that doesn't revolve around trying to cancel a damn storage unit. Fast forward to the 7th of April. I get a text that I have a past due balance and to pay to avoid collection attempts. LMAO. Good luck wit dat. I called and was able to get to the property manager's alleged voicemail, to which I left a message that expressed the reality of the situation and the more stark reality that I will never pay a cent for that unit in the time I hold breath in my lungs on this earth. Imagine my livid, fat ass when I saw a text today that I owe LATE FEES on top of the rent space itself; the gall to say that I moved out today and that's my balance. Anyways, I'm on a chat with Sahm T now....letting him know the same reality. Really crossing my fingers that he can see the clear paper trail that indicates this being 1000% the fault of Public Storage's property manager for this location so I can put this BS behind me. When I finally dump my last two units, I'll put this orange scab of a company behind me for good. read more

bait and switch with rent prices. Came in in December for $181 a month, with 1 month free. In March received email of rent increase to $265 on May 1. 40%? Was thinking it would be $5-10 every 3-4 months. Was hoping to stay here til Sept but it's easy enough to move my jet skis to another place...maybe I just move every 4 months. Everybody else with their entire house in a 10x20 unit can't afford this luxury to move easily. read more

I was renting a climate controlled unit without outside access here in September while I took a break from school. When I arrived back in May, the unit was hot and humid, and everything I owned was covered in mold. I'm sick the day after visiting my unit from trying to rifle through it; an apartment worth of furniture and appliances. Nothing is salvageable. My entire adult life was in this storage unit. I don't even have a bed to sleep on because my mattress is infested with mold. I'm sitting in a bare apartment crying as I type this, I have nothing left. If I could give a worse rating I would. I purposely paid for a climate controlled unit without outside access to avoid something like this happening. Not pictured is the other side of my couch infested with black mold, clothing that I now have to throw away, the rotted bottom boards for my bed, my moldy mattress, mold on my entertainment center... and this is just to name a few. If you plan on renting here, stay FAR AWAY !! If you have a unit here, get your stuff out asap. read more

Management is absent. No human on site. No calls back from service requests. Elevator has been broken for at least 3 months. I've personally called it in three times. The rent keeps going up and the elevator doesn't. Got a $25 credit for "the inconvenience", but after this long, it's not an inconvenience anymore, it's a sign of management that doesn't care. Found somewhere else with a unit twice as big for less than I paid here. Go elsewhere. read more

To say I'm fuming is an understatement. We have had our lock cut not once, but twice and with zero explanation. We've also only been using a unit for a month! All we get is a mere email stating hey, your lock is open. Are you kidding me? I get the idea of this place but to have no response from management after the first time our lock was cut.. and now again within 4 days? You guys have poor management and I hope nobody leaves there items here going forward. We look forward to you paying us back for the last two months. read more

I"ve been renting here for a little over 2 years. i have received constant increases every 6 months or so since being here to the point that I'm paying $100 more per month than my initial. There is no one on site. There are no security cameras inside. The security system and access codes have not changed. I would not recommend. There are other places that are cheaper, stand by their commitment on charge, cleaner and have better security. read more

I vacated storage unit and used the self service kiosk with a live person to initiate. Was told I would receive confirmation within two business days Yet after 5 days passing nothing happened. I made several more calls To the after hours on call help desk and after about 4 phone calls there was finally a move out date posted and I did get email confirmation of that Very poor management protocol when vacating the premesis read more

I got an inside unit which was to be climate controlled and the heat was not turned on which made it very cold and unsafe to store my paint which could cause me to damage what I was storing. read more

I rarely say that I hate a place, but this is definitely one of my most hated places. These people are the most unsecured and sneaky shady places. My parents and I have kept some of our antiques in a storage unit for close to ten years. Not once but twice has our lock been changed without our permission. The manager told us that if our payment is even one day late they have the right to do that. I agree and disagree with this. Yes you have the right to take measures if a payment is late..... BUT you don't have the right not to tell the person until they come to you! That's right..... we didn't find out about it until we went to our unit and the key didn't work. The poor person at the counter had no idea wth was going on. Also the managers have changed so you never know who's in charge!!! My belongings will be finding another storage unit ASAP!!! Stay away from this place and trust me when I say take your belongings to a better storage unit/ area! read more

Zero stars isn't an option! If this is how public storage operates I do not know why anyone would use them! I used this place for 2 months short stay luckily didn't put any valuables in my unit. I have had 3 locks cut off my unit. I filed a report each time... NOTHING. Then I get a call about 5 days later hey your unit is still unlocked can you please come lock it. I just paid 15 dollars for a lock that was supposed to be a 9/10 to cut. Welp no problem for whomever is going around this complex cutting locks. Also security half the doors don't lock that should have been the first indicator. Either way if you want to store your stuff maybe put it on your front lawn and put a sign that says please don't touch and it will probably be safer than this joke of a storage facility. Still waiting for a reply from my 3 messages I filed each time requesting camera footage or any updates on why and how this keeps happening. read more

Public Storage 500 E Arapaho Richardson, tx I created a reservation using the online reservation tool on their website. I had the reservation confirmed with a credit card and a representative even called me to confirm. Then, two days later, a representative called me to tell me they did not have an opening. They explained that my reservation was only holding the price point not an actual storage location. She offered me a location many miles away, not even in the same township. I cancelled the reservation and quickly made another with a competing storage company in the immediate area. So upset that this happened, will not use them in the future. read more

First let me set the stage by saying Naressa has been the most polite, hard-working, nicest, and most honest rep I have dealt with to date. Congrats on her higher learning efforts!!! However as I went to pay my bill this month, I was basically advised that my name had flagged by a previous rep as a rude, abusive customer and for none of the reps to call me ever!!!! And this is during a lock upgrade we were not allowed to refuse. I received a letter notifying me it would happen and I would be CALLED but every time I checked it hadn't been done yet. Until this month when I was advised it had been done. Curious that as it was being done, I was flagged NOT to be called/notified. I find the flagrant abuse of power, impugning of my character and lies unacceptable. I have NEVER said one rude word, cussed nor became physically abuse to any staff there nor in life. in the 2yrs+ I have been a customer I have actually always come in smiling and I tell every rep 'I don't need a copy of my invoice, I don't want to kill more trees especially since I get an e-mailed copy'. I have put up with that hot, smelly storage building, creaky elevator that smells like urine, reps attitudes, increased fees just about every month and I have not complained about late fees not once due to this locations hours changing and not matching my work schedule. Yet I get labeled as DO NOT CALL??? only in today's world. read more

Wow, this location sure has improved over the years. They now have installed an electronic gate and fence for better security. The lease process was clearly and fully explained. I asked about the cut locks that Molly mentioned. You have to be more than 30 days late before they have a right to seize your unit. Not a problem since I pay my bills on time. There is a reason that this place is always almost full. Great people and nice value. read more

When my dad originally called on a Monday to see about getting a unit for the summer he was told that he would have to come in by that Wednesday or she wouldn't be able to hold our unit anymore. We chose this place because they had a $1 first month payment promotion. I was in the process of finals and packing my college dorm up and Naressa, the manager, was making such a big deal about us coming in by Wednesday. She called my dad, who she knew lived in Austin, multiple times during his work days until I came in on Wednesday which happened to be April 30th. Neither my parents or myself realized what Naressa's deal was about that Wednesday until we got our first bill saying that we got the $1 first month's payment on the one day in April. Now, I've worked in customer service before and I understand that she was doing what she thought was best for her company BUT do not practically harass your customer to come in and then directly ask them for a good review if your whole motivation was to screw them out of a good deal. That being said, the unit was fine and met our storage needs for the summer. read more
