    Top Takeaways - Unfortunately, this has easily been one of my worst experiences I've had at a storage facility. I HIGHLY recommend a safer facility with better communication and professionalism. This place became a liability as they allowed my unit to be ransacked and were unhelpful to law enforcement! As with my unit and NUMEROUS other units that were broken into at this facility, I feel you would have a likely chance of having your items stolen. This is not a safe property. It's apparent that the Public Storage can't even keep its own property safe - they had all of their outdoor air conditioning units stolen! After months without them, they had them replaced and put a locking cage over them. Dead mice and surfaces that are never cleaned make it tough to find positives. (See photos and video) Elevators take multiple months to fix. Communication with the District manager is aggressive and challenging. Bright spot - some of the staff are great to work with. More Detail - - The district manager is aggressive with tenants! She was focused on only tracking me on camera (with other people around), and aggressively approached me at my unit to ask why I was taking pictures. I told her I was taking pictures of the many items that have remained broken for months so I can post a review. She called me "suspicious" and seemed to not believe me. She is extremely unprofessional and really shouldn't be leading a team with her hostile approach. Rather than profiling me and approaching me like a criminal, her focus would be better spent identifying actual criminals that continue to break into storage units. A little bit of tact, politeness, and respect goes a long way! However, there are a couple great staff that are polite and friendly. - Over $6,000 worth of my items were stolen in a short window of time. After reporting to facility staff, I received radio silence. There is no communication, follow up, or information you receive. When you ask about progress, they say "we don't know" or "I can't tell you". You can't even email anyone about it because the company doesn't allow external communication. Again, no professionalism. While an individual MUST enter a code 3 times before getting to my unit and there are only 2 entrances into the building, they still can't find any video of theft in my unit. And there is literally a camera right by it! I completely understand the liability of giving specifics, and I agree with it. However, a professional approach would be to let your tenant know that they have/haven't found evidence and forwarded the information to local law enforcement. When I contact the police, they say that the storage facility has not provided them with any information. With everything hush-hush, it's hard for your mind not to wander into thinking if this was an inside job. I find it extremely difficult to believe that they were not able to provide video footage or access code information to law enforcement given the following large, recognizable items were taken - 18' ladder, a bright red pressure washer, a full 65L hiking bag, a large hand truck, a violin, a guitar, a tool box, and much more. - Safety is a HUGE concern here! It is highly likely that your unit will be broken into and you will get a flat tire. I can't emphasize this enough. THEY HAVE HAD A DISPROPORTIONATE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY THEFT! There has not been 1 time that I've visited where screws, nails, and sharp objects were littered in the ground ready to give your vehicle a flat tire. The exit signs barely hang by the wires for multiple months (still hanging, possible code violation?). There were even a couple of weeks where they didn't have door handles on the entrances to the building! Just holes in the door where handles should be that you pull on to enter the building. Even right now, there are 3" of sheet metal sticking out at the entrance just waiting for you and your children to cut yourselves. You will notice that there are also some unsavory characters that are regularly there. - The elevators will stay broken for multiple months! And when you think it's working, it breaks again. It's climate controlled, but they keep it at 85 in the summer and 55 in the winter. That's barely a difference from the temperature outside and makes moving your items very uncomfortable and it's a big fluctuation for your items. It's a very dirty facility. Just look at the elevator walls and floor that get a buildup of fluid smudges and grime. If the power goes out, don't expect communication or access to your unit - not even a sign on the door or an email. You just show up and have to call the corporate number to figure out that they are closed. Apparently, poor communication and professionalism are an accepted theme for Public storage. So if you need access to your items to run a business, you cannot count on this place!

    I reserved a storage unit online for a 5x5 space. The initial prices posted don't include required insurance that renters must carry. On the day of move in I was greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member. To access the grounds a passcode is needed, to enter the building your code is needed, and once again to access the elevator your code is needed. There is an app which I'm sure can make your visits a lot simpler as far as punching in codes is concerned. I didn't have a lock so I was charged $19 to purchase one of the storage unit locks. The building was kept at a cool temperature, it was clean, and well lit. This location is NOT in a good part of town and there were a lot of sketchy folks around so I would not recommend accessing your unit after business hours.

    What a joke. Made a reservation online, completed all documentation and their "move-in" process. I…read moreselected an outside storage unit. I head over to the facility, security code in hand. Upon arrival, code won't work. Tried it at least a dozen times So, I call the number on the sign. Voice mail says "they aren't on site but can be reached by phone." After MULTIPLE attempts, that proves to not be true. I tried calling the Fernly location. That too went to voicemail, saying "Today is September 1st and we are closed for the holiday." Today is in fact November 26. Upon calling the silver springs location, again I only get a voicemail, but they at least give office hours. Thinking I might be able to told to SOME sort of employee, I drive to the Spanish Springs location. Guess what, their office is inside the secure gate, you can't get in unless you have a security code for that location. Negative contact with any living soul. I drive BACK to the Carson location. My security code still doesn't work. I tried a simple, generic code and the gate opened right up. I drive around for a minute to locate my storage unit. Guess what? It's NOT a storage unit. Appreciate, according to Safe Storage, and only Safe Storage, an outside storage unit, is a parking spot. They have a few secure units, but I won't be dealing with this company again. They are misleading and INCOMPETENT!

Its a lot for me just to shower ( which I need help) and to make Drs apts. I can't do anything really except sit at home . My thinking is kinda messed up right now and a lot of things are hard for me . Every time one of my storage units are due , both Lani and Kathy call me to remind me. They also ask if I want them to use my card on file to pay it for me. it very helpful to me . I've never had such great customer service from a companes employee . Its nice when I get that message from either one of them because it's not just a reminder message they also ask how I'm doing. I haven't been around people in awhile so it means a lot to me . They don't have to do all the things they do for me and other customers , it's just how kindhearted they are . When I use to go in to pay either one of my storage units . They would also ask how that person was doing and if anything else they could do . You could see the bond they had with each person. When I was waiting and costumer were leaving or waiting like me . Customers were always saying they appreciated me and other customers for waiting and how these girls actually care . I've heard that so many times . Lani and kathi want their store to have great customer service. They don't do it for just for that reason . They both do it out of the kindness of their hearts.
