Had a 10ft x 10ft second floor unit here for about 1.5 years while in between permanent residences. We stored mostly books and furniture. Pros: For us, the location was great. Our stuff felt safe, dry and was undamaged after over a year (we plastic wrapped or boxed everything). They gave us a discount during the Altadena fires. Staff was nice and helpful (when you could find them) Cons: The app to access the front gate and elevator rarely works smoothly. Dollies are always locked up and you need front desk staff to unlock them...but there is never anyone at the front desk. Recommend bringing your own dolly. The elevator was broken for several months - it was the only elevator we could use to access our unit. Also be aware it gets unbearably hot upstairs in the summer (though they do offer cooling units and the ground level stays cool) read more

I emptied the warehouse to put away different materials and went to get the material to put in, and surprisingly, I found my account closed. The pad screen no longer recognizes the access code. I called for information, and the answer was this: It's contractual. If the manager sees a storage unit without locks, the contract is terminated. No warning of closure, a phone call, a text, nothing? Now they left me on the road with my van full of stuff, and I have to go around looking for another storage unit to rent. The month was paid with 10 days left on the contract, and there's no refund for the unused days, but they can rent the storage unit again. I have been renting a 10x15 ground floor unit for more than 10 years. This type of unit is currently advertised for $269//mo. However, they started raising the rent by $100/mo every year until I was paying $899/mo and they were going to raise it AGAIN to over $1000/mo. I spoke to the manager, but the best she could do was delay the rent increase for six months. I like the facility and the staff is friendly but it seems they exploit the fact that it's a pain to move your stuff to gouge you on the rent. I spoke to customer service about this and their response was "it's legal." I felt like not only do they not value long time customer, they have policies in place to force them out - or, force them to default so they can take their belongings. Fortunately for me, I could afford the rent increases. Not everyone can. I'm giving them 2 stars because my experience we generally positive, but their pricing policies are bat enough to earn the low rating. read more

There is never anyone in the office. All of the carts are locked up and since no one is in the office, you can't access them. The access is limited only from 6 AM to 9 PM. Overall, I would say this is probably the worst public storage set up I have run across. read more

Roaches. I wouldn't recommend. They were not outside roaches either, they were the small kitchen ones that were most likely brought into the facility by someone. It seems as if management KNOWS about these roaches because I located many traps that seem to be "hidden" alongside the walls. I had to spend hours removing my items from my slot and unpacking to check if there were roaches in my boxes before moving them into my new home. This was extremely inconvenient and unnecessary, imagine opening every single one of your PACKED boxes and putting all those items into new CLEAN boxes(basically REPACKING) as you're moving in, as if moving isn't time consuming already. My girlfriend and I used this Public Storage to house our furniture before our move-in date at our new place this past August. We had no issues moving in whatsoever, and only planned on using this facility for approximately two weeks. However, upon time to move all of our furniture out, and into our new place; the only elevator in the entire building was broken. I was informed by the manager Shannon, that it should be fixed by the end of the week, as well as receiving an apology from her. I checked in later that week, and the only elevator was still broken. I once again spoke to Shannon, she apologized and said it should be fixed by the end of the week. I patiently waited, but to no avail. As we were approaching the end of August, I asked Shannon to ask her boss if the next month's rent could be waived as we've been trying to remove our furniture for weeks now and the only elevator has always been broken. Shannon said she would inform her boss and get back to me, as I was not the only one with this issue. Yet, with less than two days to go before another month's rent was due, and without hearing anything about rent being waived for Public Storage's negligence; my girlfriend and I struggled to physically carry our furniture down a narrow turning staircase all by ourselves. Keep in mind, we had no issue putting the furniture in because of the flat bed and elevator. But getting the furniture out, caused many knicks, dents, scratches, tears, etc. to befall our furniture. During our struggle to move all of our furniture out of the unit without the assistance of the only elevator, we spoke to several individuals who were also customers of this Public Storage. All of whom, also noted how they had been waiting weeks to retrieve their belongings from the storage unit as well, but had grown tired of waiting for the only elevator to be fixed. Two different people even explained to me how this only elevator brakes constantly and always seems to go out of commission towards the end of the month, forcing some people to pay another month's rent and thus allowing Public Storage to profit from its own negligence. After we were settled in to our new place, I went back to Public Storage and asked Shannon for her boss' name and phone number. His name is Anthonio "Tony" Borja. I contacted Mr. Borja numerous times over the course of this month of September. I have left multiple voicemails for Mr Borja. Unfortunately, Mr. Borja, has never once returned any of my numerous calls or voicemails. Mr. Borja is the reason this facility is garbage. Mr. Borja does not care at all about the customer experience. twice my rental unit was broken into. The 2nd time it was all on video with a files police report . The video contained two of my containers being taken out of the unit and loaded into the car of the people who broke in. I paid for the insurance through public storage monthly . When my storage unit was broken into I applied for the insurance which I would not be able to receive due to the fact that I did not have receipts or photos of the items taken so i had absolutely no proof of what was taken . The unit contained items I use for work Which amounted to A total loss for me . About two weeks after that the storage unit had water damage due to the rains. Everything was wet. I used the online option to set up as they are raving about it being easy all over their marketing for the place but now I'm waiting outside with a full rented truck on a deadline for return and I cannot get in. The office isn't open until 930 so I'm stuck. And the options for customer service were provided no service. I was prompted to leave a message for the manager but have yet to get a call back. I tried the app, "WHOOPS! ACCESS DENIED", so that wasn't useful either. And as result of this all I also lost my help for unloading. So, if you are trying to book online and have any deadlines that could result in added expenses being accrued for help with labor or vehicle rental or if you have to get it done before work, this is NOT THE PLACE very frustrated, clearly. If I could give no stars, I would. The counter staff here are nice and helpful within the scope of what they can do, but the place is clearly managed with the minimum of effort and expense. They started locking up the carts when the office closes with no notice, so you can't use them in the evening when most people are free. The elevator went out multiple times while I had a storage unit here, once for weeks, and was not working on the days I had to move out of my locker leaving me with no choice but to haul things between floors myself and rack up a bunch of bruises in the process. When I asked if I could get a refund for the hassle, I was told that the elevator is "a convenience, but not included in the rent for a locker." What trash. That's not even to discuss the time the gate failed after hours and trapped me and one other customer in the loading bay because there's only one entrance and exit here. There was no after hours management to help so we had to call the fire department to get us out. Look elsewhere. read more

Well I have waited for help from the upper office but no one has bothered to contact me about this issue. I am a women of my word, so I will post the photos. Here is what my complaint is: They have RAISED my rent 3 times WITHOUT a 30 day notice. I am paying $393 per month to have FITHY NASTY DISEASE CARRYING RATS run all over my family's things. They have used my furniture and children's toy's food and toilet. This has happened twice and the upper management has done NOTHING about it. We have talked to Regional and District management (I will come back with their names). They put traps out for about 2 months, then removed them.They have pictures and the property managers have come inside and seen the rat poop on the floor and our things. Shirshawna and Shannon are nice ladies but they can only do what the Regional and District manager allows them to do and that is NOTHING. We have asked to be moved and to get the rats exterminated but that has fallen on deaf ears. Let's be clear, I don't have any food in my unit, but RATS will eat ANYTHING. So here is my warning shot. Everything in my last review still rings true, but the price has continued to increase. I think when I started with them three years ago, my unit was $124; it's now $162. Everything has remained the same, though, it feels like I'm paying an appreciation rate for the place to depreciate. The inside keypad, while operational, has looked like it's trying to commit digital suicide the last two months (melting off, holding onto some wire), and no matter how much the staff stays on top of keeping the place clean (I constantly see them with a broom or bleach), the place smells like urine. Still wins out because of its convenience, I just wish I saw improvements in those areas as they continue to increase the rent. read more

When I got there they told me they had no more 10 x 30 units and that "the reservation is a place holder for price". That "people don't show up for their reservations all the time". Well shit.. I did, now what? They said they could give me two 10 x 15 units but ended showing me a 10 x 20 upstairs down two hallways.. really screwed me over. I have one day to move out of my place and now I'm scrambling to find another storage. read more

I just received an email that my monthly rent will be increasing another $70 a month! Granted that my original price for the 10x30 unit was around $600, but this is the 2nd major increase in 12 months. They now expect $722! That's over a 28% increase in 13 months -- hardly in line with the current COL or inflation rate. That is insane! That is not an "adjustment" -- it is a pre-determined price increase to meet your business model. Though your agreement states you can just raise prices ad hoc, had I known the "adjustments" were so outrageous, I never would have rented. The units walls are starting to fall apart (bare studs and drywall) and, by the way the sizing of the space is like 7-10" less per dimension than offered. (That made a difference when I initally planned out the placement of my larger storage items). I am furious. I am out of here! read more

There were 3 people working. She was super friendly and efficient. She even offered me to carry items out which I didn't need that since I parked right in front. WARNING!!! BEWARE!!! WARNING!!! BEWARE!!! WARNING!!! BEWARE!!! DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF @ THIS LOCATION! My storage bin got broken in only after a few months of my 1st move-in. Something was really fishy about the front office as well. You would think that if your storage unit was vandalized, the company would call you... right? Well, NO THEY DIDN'T. They sent us a letter saying "we found your storage unit open without a lock". I had a lot of stuff stolen from me that could not be replaced... guitars, electronics, vintage vending machines. Who the hell wouldn't notice someone stealing a huge, heavy metal vending machine??? And the funny thing is... our storage unit was down the hall from the main office (about 25 to 30 feet away). They claimed to have NO SERVAILLANCE camera footage of the incident. Our lock (that we bought from public storage as the best lock) was cut off from the door. They even claimed that no one got break through the locks we purchased from them. BULLSHIT! We tried calling the manger of this place multiple times about the incident but no response. He called back about 2 weeks later saying he was sick and he was sorry. We had our unit insured, but did not recieve anything close to the amount of what everything was worth. I hope this place shuts down! read more

So if you decide to take advantage of the $1 for the first month please be aware of the following: - Actually renting the space is a real pain. To get to the office, you have to go through a locked gate that requires a password to get to open. But, you don't get a password until AFTER you rent a space. So to get in, you have wait for someone who does and sneak in behind them. You'd think they would want to rent to you but I guess not. If you pass this hurdle then you have: - The gates close and lock automatically at 9pm. All I was told was that Public Storage closes at 9pm and on the lease it says "time is of the essence" and that is all. I moved from San Francisco with my cat and all my worldly possessions to arrive at Public Storage later than anticipated (traffic on the 5). My friends and I literally RAN to get everything in. Feeling satisfied at having made the deadline, we tried to leave at about 9:05. No dice. Thinking this was a mistake, we called all the Public Storage numbers we could find - all answering machines. I got hold of their insurance company, they told me to call the police. Since there was a sign saying to call the police if a car was towed, I called them. They came out and couldn't believe that we had been locked in. The police called the alarm service. They said they no longer work for Public Storage. Our very nice policeman told us we would just have to leave our cars and walk home. After four hours trying to get out, we finally abandoned the cars and the stuff we were moving into the apartment. With my cat and a few items, I got a ride to my home with the policeman. My friends had to walk. At 6am the next morning, the gate unlocked automatically and we were free! A few days later we got a warning that if we tried to activate the gate after 9pm again, we would be fined. Nice doing business with you too. Also, when I returned to get something, I did notice a sign on the INSIDE of the EXIT ONLY GATE that did warn that the gates close and lock automatically at 9pm. On that one fateful night, we did try to use the exit only gate once and might have seen the one sign *if there had been a light back there*. Really, too much fun for me. read more
