Public Storage raises the rent frequently and without any rationale offered. Some upward adjustment should be expected over time given their costs may be incrementing up. However, the rent increases seem quite arbitrary and significant. Know this going into the arrangement. The (brilliant) business model factors in people not wanting to move the contents of a full unit to another unit in the same facility (yes, same size) to get the rent adjusted to something closer to what was being paid prior to the rate hike. I have a 10 X 30 unit on Ogden in Naperville IL I am currently paying $359 a reduced rate until December when it will be $438. Online this size unit in this location is quoted at $200. Why am I a long term user being penalized at such a high rate. When I made my August payment I ask the agent to have some one contact me no one has, this is not a great business practice. read more

This is not a review of the Naperville location, but of the Public Storage company. We rented the space at the end of April and just received a 30% increase starting August 1st. I called customer service to discuss and they gave me a slight discount for three months. When the three months is up I'm sure there is another increase coming. The "this is just the way it is attitude" is not what I was expecting. After reading the reviews it seems this is common and very unprofessional. Terrible customer service!! read more

I really enjoy using this facility. It's always clean and well taken care of. The Manager, Kevin, is VERY friendly and helpful, and has gone above and beyond for me on several occasions, even bringing me a bottle of water on a hot day when he saw me outside for a while. Price increases are frequent and arbitrary. One could argue that's the hidden surprise of month to month contracts, but when your rent increases 66% in two years, that's a bit much. On top of that, they hardly shovel/plow in winter. read more

Unfortunately, the home they purchased was cobtingentvupon a few minor problems. Which left his family two big moving trucks with their love inside. I have been a Public Storage customer at this facility over 3 years and besides the fact that they have raised my rate for the same space from $159-209 over the past 2 years, they have the absolute worst customer service both with both their corporate and local office. The District Manager is totally useless and promises to make a refund but never does until I complain. On 6 occasions over the past year, the gate has been inoperable and in disrepair. I use this for our business Naperville Traders Estate Sales and I am supposed to have 24 hour access but on too many occasions they have not fixed the gate for over a week at a stretch. I rented a large unit here for 16 months. I would give Public Storage, as well as this location in particular, zero stars if I could. I 100% agree with Steve L's review below. Hands down, the worst customer service I have ever experienced, from the staff at the facility to the call center to the district manager (who I agree is useless). I had a problem with my bill regarding an incorrect charge, and the call center could not help. They referred me to the district manager for recourse. I left him 3 messages, and he never called back. So my issue never got resolved, and I had to just pay the charge so my property did not get sold to auction. I have since checked out of the unit, and to date not one single "thank you for your business" in person or email. They don't even pro-rate if you move out before the end of your billing cycle, and I know that other companies will do that. Steer clear of Public Storage, period, for the reasons stated here. There are other storage companies who do a much better job taking care of their customers. Update: 10/19 - I received an automated email with a survey link asking for my feedback today. When I clicked the link, Surveygizmo stated that survey no longer exists because it was deleted by the owner. I wonder if there are any actual human beings that work at PS? read more

I've been renting my unit for little more than 6 months. When I initially signed up for my unit I was happy with the monthly rental rate and the service I received. Unfortunately, now, just 6 months later, Public Storage Corporate decided to increase my rate by 60%. This is ridiculous and extremely disappointing. I immediately canceled my rental as I received no satisfaction from Public Storage Corporate or the local subsidiary.This is very poor business on the part of Public Storage Corporate. I have used this place since 2012. And the polices and amenities are not worth the $190 I am paying for my unit. They barely plow their parking lot in the back where you have to drive to in order to access the building. So it is very hard for sedans to drive in four or five inches of impacted and frozen snow. There are no dumpsters to dispose of trash and they will not prorate your fee if you move out before the month is completed. And no deals for long term users. They will adjust your rent IF you move your stuff to another storage unit. Very glad I am moving my stuff out when I am so my rent does not increase again. read more

After reading the other reviews placed here, I have to disagree vociferously. Matt met me at this Naperville location, and he promptly showed me the space I had reserved over the phone. We both began to realize that the space would not be large enough, and he found me a space for the stuff I will be storing. He could not have been more helpful or nicer. Great service and unit! We have had a unit there for a few years and have been overall very happy with the service and unit. We had an issue with our unit in the beginning, they not only moved us to a different unit, they upgraded us to a bigger unit for the same price we were paying. One time after leaving unit, we left open by mistake and the staff called us to let us know that it was left open. They called us within hours of us leaving to let us know we didn't lock it. They have always been helpful when purchasing supplies in the store. We only got rid of the unit because we did not need it anymore. Started renting a 10 x 20 outdoor storage space today to store my car for a couple months, only cost about $54 including all other fees with an online reservation for the first month. Matt was a huge help and extremely resourceful, I had never rented a storage space before but he made it quick and easy for my first time and I'll be sure to go back if I ever need storage in the future. read more

Unit measures less than what i have selected for, I came in with 16 ft truck but couldnt fit my stuff inside a 10x20 storage unit. so had to run and request for additional unit at higher price as the promotional wont be accepted for the second unit you reserve. Roads are all horrible during winter its very slippery someone need to put some salt to melt ice. online account access provides you option to change move-in/move-out dates however you need to specifically call the office during its limited open times and schedule an appointment so that they can force sell locks, insurance, bad move public storage Lights inside the storage unit doesn't work Anything need to be changed on the account such as opening, closing, updating insurance need to be done in the storage office when the staff is available -- usually they are not :( Horrible access gate u need to step out of the vehicle while exiting -- not safe because once you walk out of the gate to outside and if the access code doesn't work or if you forget your access code then you are stuck outside while your car is inside the storage compound. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORAGE !! read more

Update: I had my wife clean the unit out during the afternoon of 11/30 just so she could get help in case my access code still didn't work and so Public Storage didn't try to charge me extra. Guess what? The local attendant from Public Storage called me on 12/2 saying that she just noticed my unit was empty? huh? So despite scheduling my departure from the unit more than two weeks in advance through their website, and calling the main office to notify them by phone that I would be out by the end of the month, and speaking with the local office on 11/30 notifying them that I would be out by the end of the day, they still are clueless. Now they are attempting to charge me for the two extra days and are threatening to damage my credit if I don't pay. Here's how you will be treated by Public Storage if you rent here. be forwarned! read more
