I waited over a year for PS to fix the situation but I was told they will not do anything. In early 2024 I rented a U-Haul truck and went to move out of my storage locker. It was a Saturday and 3 days before my lease was up. When I got there my lock was cut and another lock was on my storage unit. There was nobody on site to tell me why and all their customer service could do was admit I had my bill paid up and reach out to the property manager. They never got back to me. I rented a truck I could not use. Finally, that Monday I went back and saw the property manager, Dianne. She told me that they had to cut my lock because the unit next to mine needed repairs. I asked her why I never received a phone call or even an email but she couldn't answer the question. I asked if she planned on having PS reimburse me for the rental vehicle and she said no they would not. She removed their lock and I replaced it with a new lock that I had purchased. I told her my lease is up in 2 days but I would need another week to move out. She said that would be ok since the all of the inconvenience I had been put through. Three days later I show up with another U-Haul and my lock was again cut off and they placed their lock back on. I had no way of getting my stuff out. I was able to speak with Dianne again a few days later and she said it was because they had to finish the repair work to the unit next to mine. Again no phone call or email. I had to buy another lock to secure my stuff. I learned my lesson the next time and just showed up with a mini van and SUV and made several trips to empty my locker. After several attempts to get reimbursed for my locks ($40) I got ahold of district manager, Justin. Dianne stated that she left him several messages about my situation but he said he was never aware of it. He said he would get back to me in a few days but never did. I left him several messages but he never responded back. I then spoke to district manager Rick Rizzo who listened to my situation. He came back and said I still have a balance of $120. I asked him how could I have a balance when PS locked me out of my unit and prevented me from moving out...TWICE! He said he wouldn't reimburse me for the 2 rental trucks but would get back to me on the cost of the 2 locks they cut. It's been several weeks and Rick Rizzo hasn't returned my calls. I've used PS several times in other locations over the years without issue but this location is horrible. There is no communication and they refuse to take responsibility when they damage your property. Do yourself a favor and lease elsewhere. I'm not leaving a 1 star review I'm leaving 0 stars but Yelp won't let me. read more

Reserving my unit online was easy and it was ready when I got there. There was a packet of rat poison in the corner which didn't make me feel very good about leaving my stuff there. There was also no human available on site to help me. There was, however, an empty room with an odd kiosk that was difficult to type on that would connect me to a human but it kept getting disconnected and reconnecting me with a different person. I asked for help finding my unit and a restroom and they directed me to a map in the room. There was no such map. The walls and room were completely empty except for the weird kiosk. I did eventually find both on my own but the restroom was locked with a padlock so I had to go to a nearby McDonald's. Luckily I didn't actually need the kiosk to get into my unit or that would have been a whole other nightmare. read more

I am starting a review and will update it over time since I am a new renter. The actually online reservation and advance account set up was easy enough. Received emails welcoming me as well as a phone call which was expected. The in person rental experience with Sally was good. She helped me to select a unit location and walked me over to check if out for my approval. They were upfront about all costs. Note that insurance is required and they have 3 different level plans but they also provide a list of questions for your home insurance person. I called and found out I am covered by insurance so dropping the insurance and getting a refund was easy. I'm not actually moved in yet but I've been there twice already and all is on target for a good experience. read more

I worked with Julia this past weekend to help get a unit in a very short timeframe. I arrived close to the end of the day, and Julia was absolutely wonderful to work with. She took the time to answer all our questions, and was able to meet our immediate needs. Additionally, she committed to helping us with a longer term plan, which we left feeling very pleased. Public Storage delivered in every step of my experience. I found a great deal for the unit online. I was unclear about a few things, called the 800 # and they were helpful and stayed on the line until I completed the online reservation. After I made the reservation, I received a call from the property manager, Tom. He was polite and helpful. The next day I went in to sign paperwork. Reyna, another manager, was there and she did an excellent job with all the paperwork and instructions. She even gave me a great tip. If you are doing long term storage, lay a sheet of plastic on the floor. The change in Seasons can cause some condensation to form on the cement floor. We just recently moved to an inside unit here (from a drive-up) and the manager made it easy to transfer the paperwork. I called a couple of weeks before our move just to check availability, but then called the morning of our planned move to set up a time to do the paperwork. We were lucky that there were still inside units available, as they don't just hold them for you. It was quick and easy to make the change and the move was simple, since it was just around the corner from our old unit. I don't visit our unit often, but when I do the manager has always been helpful. read more

I originally rented a unit when this location was owned by Shuurgard, I wish it still was. I have had the unit for over 10 years, and in the last few years they have raised my rent from $179 up to $253, and I just received a card in the mail that tells me they are raising again up to $281. Even the staff is sympathetic, telling me that I should shop around because there are cheaper options for the plain outdoor storage units. This is not climate controlled storage folks, plain old drive up, manual lift door storage. I am fine with businesses making a profit, but I get sick to my stomach when I encounter greed. We had a VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE at this location. Tom, (the person in charge), was extremely helpful, making sure that we were completely satisfied in choosing the right storage unit for our belongings. He exercised great patience, and used a bit of humor, as he walked along with us to unit after unit, for our inspection. When we finally made our decision, we all had to laugh. Horrible Horrible Horrible experience!! All I wanted was to buy some storage boxes. No information on web; called the local number to see if they had them in stock; auto transferred to call center, multiple menus, ten minute wait to talk to someone; finally given actual "private" unpublished local number. Called, verified boxes were in stock, told him I'd be over around lunchtime to pick up. He said "fine". I arrive at 11:40am, sign on window says" CLOSED, be back soon". So much for calling ahead of time. So I leave, return 30 minutes later and the minute I enter, I notice a purtrid SMELL - old cigarettes, like the bottom of a wet ashtray. HORRIBLE! I hold my breath, buy the boxes, put them in my car. The smell permeated my clothes and my car. Even 6 hours later, the receipt he gave me still stinks of cigarettes as does my car even with the windows open. He also never applied the 10% discount for multiple purchases but I just wanted to get out of there. And I am not a hyper sensitive person at all. A hyper sensitive person would have thrown up. Why would they allow a worker smoke in a public office, especially when it is against the law in Illinios? And, he just leaves in the middle of the day and closes the office. Horrible customer service, horrible smells. Good luck if you use them to store your valuable property. Make sure you check your receipts carefully or they will probably overcharge you. read more
