My go-to storage was always Public Storage ... I live in Glen Ellyn and googled storage places near me. Lock Up Self Storage popped up so I decided to view their website for prices ... I found the perfect sized unit at a great price, the unit was very clean, carpeted and climate controlled! And to top it off the renting of the truck for 3 1/2 hours on my moving day came with the rental. I though it was too good to be true but I called them anyway and all of it was true so they definitely won me over from Public Storage. Best Decision Ever!! read more

I can not speak negatively enough about this location. I rented their largest unit (outdoor spot with garage door) for 5 years. You would think they would appreciate the $400/month for 5 years and be kind when needed. During the polar vortex, I had to get something out of my unit. I loaded up my car with all of the boxes that I had to search through and brought them inside, to where you can park your car if you have a small indoor unit. Mind you - no one else was present the entire time I was there, but the manager told me he couldn't let me stay there any longer and that I would have to do my searching in my unit (during a polar vortex). I pointed out that no one else was there, and there were 2 more open parking spots. Furthermore, that the spots are there for customers, and I was a customer. He said I had to leave. Last year this happened again. Freezing temperatures and so I went to the indoor parking. Made me leave. I told them I would end my long time relationship if they were going to make me do my organization in subzero temperatures. He said if I wanted to cancel, then I should cancel. I couldn't believe the lack of decency toward a customer. IF the parking was packed, then I could understand if they said "hey, we know you're a customer, but you have to limit your time in the parking space because we have others waiting." That would be one thing. BUT, it was not the case. So happy I left. This is not the kind of business I would anyone to support. EVER. I hate this location more than anything. read more

I try to avoid writing any negative reviews unless it is truly warranted. But we have been thoroughly unimpressed by The Lock Up. First, the introductory offer was completely misleading and there were multiple hidden fees that were tacked on at checkout online. After wasting my time comparing pricing in the area, this appeared to be the best deal... but the hidden fees upfront make that not the case. Beyond the cost- the guy who manages this place was extremely rude to us on multiple occasions. He was difficult about practically everything. We were in the process of moving, and 1 week late paying our bill. He was so rude and disrespectful to us about it, and charged us $25 for a late fee (on a $40/monthly bill). His reaction and the fee were both over the top. We will never be back here again! read more

Just finished signing up and running our first few loads up to our new space. We are using this for packaging and materials used in our business and they really are best stored in a climate controlled environment. From top to bottom, I really could not be happier with the experience. The manager, Mel was exceptional in his instruction, was super nice, and answered every question without hesitation. The facility itself is perfect for our needs from the covered loading area, to the flat bed carts, to the carpeted floors throughout and even in the storage space. Everything was as clean..spotless really. Great hallway lighting. Was pleased to hear some good music softly piped through the halls which along with the bright lighting really cut down on the creepy factor as you might expect when you're all alone in a huge storage facility. Cameras, intercoms and emergency stations all around just add to increasing the comfort level. All things considered, the price is just right for our needs and if we ever need to upgrade we won't hesitate. As a bonus to us, this location is excellent because it's near many other businesses that we frequent. I know that I won't be feeling like I'm going out of my way because I won't be. It's unfortunate that some of the earlier reviewers had negative experience as mine was nothing like theirs at all. Thank you to The Lock Up for getting us off to a great start! read more

The Lock-Up Self Storage (in Wheaton, IL) is absolutely wonderful! The facility is extremely clean and spacious, and it offers climate control. Mel, the property manager, is very organized and makes the check-in process easy. We originally rented one unit but then needed three because the closing on our house was delayed. In the midst of all the madness of our cross-country move, it was nice to find a safe, clean, air-conditioned storage facility. read more

We have been Lock Up customers at this location for 1 year. The facility is clean, well lit and climate controlled. If you price around at other area storage facilities, you will see that the price and "deal" offered here is typical and very fair. We have been totally satisfied with the service and the facility. I visited 3 different storage facilities for a unit. The Lock Up Self Storage in Wheaton was the facility I ended up choosing. Why? 1. The staff (Ken & Mel) are super helpful, friendly and professional 2. The facility itself is very new (about 2 years old), CLEAN.....CLEAN....CLEANNNNN 3. Other facilities had musty odors and just felt damp. The Lock Up is fresh and always maintained 4. The loading bay is clean, has a lot of useful carts, and has A/C 5. The facility has great security (cameras and entry codes for garage and elevator) 6. What really sealed the deal was the perk of using their moving truck for 3 hours and up to 20 miles for FREE!!! The truck is new, has plenty of space and a lot of moving blankets and carts to ease the moving process. I have NO complaints of this place, you won't be disappointed. =) read more

The Lock Up Self Storage was the perfect place I was looking for!! As previous reviews mention, the place is clean, well lit, and has everything you need for storage needs. As a single woman, I wanted a place that I would feel comfortable and safe going to...as well as a clean facility....this place has it! Personal PIN for the huge drive-in bay for unloading...and PIN for the elevator. My own set of keys for the bolt / lock to my unit. The bathrooms are also very clean. I was looking to start storing boxes immediately and Mel made that happen. I would recommend The Lock Up Self Storage place to anyone that had the need! After touring and seeing other places in the area....this is my choice...and should be your's too! :) read more

Highly recommended!! A Brand new facility! everything is sparkling. Ken and Tony were great to deal with and super nice. When you rent a unit you can get a free truck rental for 4 hours - the truck is brand new too!! This alone saved us about $100. Seriously. Self storage places are supposed to be dark, creepy, unkempt. If THAT is what you need then the LockUp in Wheaton will surprise you. The place is clean, well lit, actually "comfortable " looking. The staff is great - friendly and helpful. Most importantly the facility has everything- indoor loading bays, many sizes of storage rooms, and all the other stuff you need. The pricing is right too We used it for summer storage for our college kid and his roommates. PERFECT! If you are anywhere near Wheaton or Glen Ellyn this is the best storage place you'll find. read more

This is the best storage facility BAR NONE! It is clean like a hotel (for stuff). Great music pumped in - a pleasure to listen to whilst moving in our out. The bathroom is impeccable. Brand new, very clean facility. Mel the manager is great.....very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I visit several times a week to load and unload so having the pull in garage loading bay is great if the weather is bad. Another big benefit was having the use of the free rental truck on initial move in. Would highly recommend this facility! read more
