It was rather a busy time when I went into pay on a unit, the manager had it totally under control and I thought gave great customer service from the way customers were greated when they came in and seemed like the manager was just all around a happy person and got me taken care of ad quick as he could. Zedrick in the office is very personable and takes pride in his work. Refreshing in todays world. public storage is a higher end facility with the price that goes with it. Your manages should have a back pocket offer for those customers who unexpectedly need multiple units. I emigrated to the USA 30 years ago from Europe, of which 25 years I owned a business in Chicago and dealt with clients and employees of various ranks ... A year ago I retired and moved to Denver, where I rented Public Storage (5788 W Sixth Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214) I had experience in renting similar public storage locations and have always been happy with the service ... Unfortunately, this Public Storage location, which I chose, turned out to be a huge mistake ... The territory is kept in horrible unsanitary conditions. During a snowfall, the snow and ice are not removed and the ability to use the warehouse is reduced to zero for weeks ... At the end of April 2021, someone drove a car into the door of my compartment, which completely deprived me of access to my unit for a month ... It's almost impossible to call or catch someone in the office ... Today 05/29/2021 I had a very unpleasant conversation/interaction with the manager Amelia whom I would not only trust to run such a business, but even my TV remove control. This young lady is extremely rude, absolutely incompetent, and I would even say arrogant and awfully sarcastic. Such people not only should not take such positions and serve customers, but should sit at home and not stick out ... This is the first YELP review I have ever done, and I did it because I truly want customers to not use this location. You will regret it. Guaranteed. Do not use this location to store your stuff. This location does not care about security or cleanliness. I have found a flaw in the construction of these units that have gotten my items stolen. I cannot tell you what the flaw is as I don't want thieves to read this review. You get an absolutely bad vibe from this place and people are living in their units. How do I know, because you can hear dogs barking and smell cigarette smoke but yet no cars are out in the isles. My wife said she didn't feel safe there. We had to move. This location needs to be shut down until all the problems at this location get resolved. I feel bad for the people that have their stuff stored there and if you are the unfortunate person to get my old storage unit, say goodby to your stuff. Read the critical reviews here and on Google maps. Call Lakewood police and ask them about this location. Something has happened to this location within the last six months and it is being ignored by management and customers are paying the price. Just read the recent reviews. Look at the pictures I posted the place is a dump! Unrented units are wide open. Horrible, horrible place DO NOT lease at this location. The unit was extremely dirty when we first opened it. They never even swept it from the last tenant. I then tried to get ahold of the management office to cancel the unit after we moved out belongings out and no one would ever answer the phone. I finally got a hold of them on the day after the next month renewed and the manager told me she would look into having my next month fees waived as we were completely moved out. I never heard back from her and then I received a letter from a collection agency, not even another bill from public storage. Completely unprofessional. The entire facility was full of people sleeping in their cars and sketchy activity all times of the day. read more

When i called the main 800 number to inquire about prices, i was astounded to learn that Public Storage was almost 50% cheaper than a local facility. I made the reservation and move my things in the very next day. The onsite staff person Amelia went above and beyond to make sure that I understood the agreement, she answered all my questions very thoroughly, including giving us a tour of the facility and allowing me to personally inspect the storage unit before anything was signed. The unit that I looked at had a spill on the floor and she (Amelia) immediately switched the unit without any hesitation. She was confident on her work, she had good follow through and provided a Superior level of customer service. Kuddos Amelia! I feel content that my belongings are in safe keeping and i will happily recommend Public Storage to all my family and friends that may need the security of the service. read more

Had a bad experience with Leslie last week. She was very unprofessional and had a huge attitude with me. It almost seemed like an inconvenience to her to answer any questions I had. If I wasn't in a time crunch, I would have went somewhere else. She even forgot to give me the door code and I was stuck there trying to move my stuff into storage late at night. The 'on duty' person wasn't there either. GLAD I GUESSED WHAT THE CODE WAS AFTER AN HOUR!!! read more

The location itself only suffers from have to deal with the corporate jerks. The people at the location were very friendly and helpful however they were hampered by what they were allowed and required to do. I rented A storage unit with the famous $1 for the first month special. After spending $40 for that $1 special (not including their $18 lock) and moving all my stuff in I was set. I debated on whether to keep everything there or to go at the end of one month to one of the many lower price options in the area. In end I was leaning towards staying just for the sake of convenience. I rented on the 28th of December. Their billing cycle is only from the 1st till the last day of the month. So I had my unit from the 28th through the 28th and then had to pay a prorated amount for the last few days of the month, about $15. I was okay with that until I tried paying over the phone. To use their automated system to pay would cost $10. I thought it was crazy but I had no way to get out there and pay before they closed. So I tried top pay online. Nope. It would not accept my card. I tried a couple times, I also called my bank to verify there was no reason my card should not be working. There was not. I eventually gave up for the day and tried again the next day. Same thing. The following day I find out that because I had not paid the $15 still due on the 28th, I was being assessed a late fee. a $29 late fee. So now They wanted me to pay the $15 I owed as well as the $29 late fee. I eventually got through to someone at the storage unit and they told me someone at the 1-800 number could help and could waive the fee this one time. So I spent the next hour trying to get a hold of someone at the 1-800 number. Eventually I called from a different phone and selected the option that I was trying to make a reservation and I got right through. That is not where it ends. the "customer service" person I spoke with tried to lecture me on paying on time and was condescending with every word that came out of her mouth. Eventually she did waive the fee. I asked if I could pay the $15 right then and there, she told me there would be a $20 service fee if I did.. That decided it for me. The very same day, the last day of the month, I moved everything out of my 10x20 storage unit with my mom's Chevy Blazer ( it is spacious compared to my Jeep). Furniture and all. 8 trips in the blazer. I was happy to do so because it meant I would not have top give Public Storage any more of my money. It was the worst customer service experience of my life. I have never written a bad review on yelp until now. I try to write good ones when I have exceptional service but never had to write one like this. This location gets one star and that is only because the people at the location were as understanding as their corporate headquarters would allow. They knew it was crazy but had to toe the party line. I would give a recommendation for another storage place however no need to be specific. Any storage company has to be better then Public Storage. read more

I had a pretty bad customer service experience at this location. I had just moved to Lakewood Colorado and needed to move all of my things in a storage space. I came in with my brother to fill out the paperwork, and the property manager was extremely rude to us throughout the entire process. She saw us standing at the counter waiting to be helped and she wouldn't stop to say anything, she just kept moving stuff around the office, something that could have easily been done later, nothing urgent. She asked for my ID, and when I went up to the desk to hand it to her she said "I actually don't like people standing next to my desk," telling us to back up, which made the whole situation even more awkward. When we went to go check on the storage space, she stopped the cart suddenly, before we even got to the space, to fiddle with a door that was stuck open. She proceeded to get back in the cart and tell us "Don't leave my doors open, that really pisses me off." I don't know if this lady was having a bad day or whatever, but this attitude is unacceptable, especially to a customer who was trying to be nice in the first place. But in any case, she asked for a review, so this is it. The storage space itself is fine, but the customer service, especially from the property manager, has plenty room for improvement. read more
