My rent only increased once the whole time I was gone, and any and all interactions with the staff were always more than pleasant, whether in person or remotely. My unit was clean and climate controlled, and I am entirely happy with my whole experience from beginning to end. So I went to A Storage Place near El Rancho. The then manager, Richard, helped me immediately, and I was able to move all of these precious things instantly. I have paid by check for two years and never had a problem. Suddenly this spring, I received an email saying that I was delinquent on my payments. It turned out that their bank's check reader had misread my check and had put an extra digit at the end of my account number. They assumed that I had written a bad check. As a successful educator of more than three decades, I have never in my life written a bad check. I contacted my bank and worked through them to try to resolve the issue with A Storage Place. The new manager, Brian, hung up on me three times. He shouted at me over the phone and was exceedingly rude. Then my banker, Lily, try to reason with him, and he hung up on her three times. Finally, our bank manager Helen was able to get him to calm down and talk to her reasonably. She ended by saying very firmly, "Our client did not write a bad check. You can simply re-deposit the check with the correct account number." Apparently he did not get the message. I had to send them another check. The way that I was treated then and the way that I was treated when I decided to move out has shown me that the people who run A Storage Place have no idea of how to behave professionally. If I had treated the people I worked for as a professional educator the way I have been treated by the staff at A Storage Place, I would've been fired on the spot. If you wish to be treated with respect, do not rent a storage unit from this business! There are so many other options!

Unfortunately there is a new woman running the place and she is terrible. The quality of the grounds has been declining since she took over. Large garbage items sit outside of units for days or weeks. The alleys don't get plowed every time it snows , and they stopped putting down salt (both things they did when the other gentleman managed the place), so it gets icy . I have to put my own salt down in front of my unit so I don't slip on ice when I'm trying to get heavy tools and materials before work. The biggest issue is security. One of the gates has been broken and left wide open at all times, for anyone walking down the street to see and come in at any hour. When I asked about this I got rude emails back. When I asked to speak to someone higher up than her, she refused to give me anyone's info.... Who do you talk to about a problem when the problem is the manager? When I mentioned to her that the quality of the facility was declining, she got petty and went back though records to "call me out" on things she perceives as issues. I was told there is a service call in, but the gate is left swung wide open at night, and has been for days, how long does it really take to get a locksmith out???? They make no effort to secure the facility when they are closed. As soon as I have time in my schedule I will be moving to a more secure facility, with friendlier staff. If this is how much this place has declined in just a few months, I don't want to sit around and see how bad it will really get. The owners should really think about finding someone better to manage this facility, especially at the prices they charge.

BEWARE!!! DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE! I own a mobile…read morewedding DJ business and have been storing my DJ equipment at this business for almost a year. One night I stopped by to return my gear to find a woman living in a storage unit. Another evening I saw a man playing his radio and smoking a cigar on a couch!!! Are you kidding me! So I notified the manager through email and they said they would handle the issue. About 4 months after that, I stopped at my locker to find that my DJ equipment was stolen! Looked like they pulled it out from the top, because every locker has an opening at the top. You can literally stand on a box and see everything (through an opening that you can pull item out from) in the locker next door. I can't believe this has happened! They have cameras, but they can prove that stuff was mine. And they require you to use their shitty insurance provider that couldn't help me get my stuff back. Whats the point?! I moved my gear out of that business ASAP! I will continue to tell my Arvada neighbors and post on every review outlet about this horrible storage business. STAY AWAY! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
