Well, I think I'll be on BBB's page next to complain how I have never been late nor missed a payment in three years long on for and I'm paying 100$ more than most storers. I'm looking at regular rental prices and just wondering how come are they doing this. They want you to forfeit your storage and hope you can't pay it. My door is trashed and has taken moving time from me. To be honest, I hate this place and rats were found dead in belongings that have been pulled out and sat in there for about June. I wonder if there going to fix my rate . Still take advantage of me like every one else or make it fair. Let's see if they make this fair. I'll be back with pics and an update to this matter. Customer service needs to be better and maintenance shouldn't be an out call to another company to fix the door. Just replace it ! How cheap is this place with all the up pricing and lack letting renters know about the deals they have on their units. Thumbs down both hands . After a double charge after our initial move-in, I spoke to a man named Jeff about a credit. In 74 years I have never been spoken to in this manner. He is easily the rudest customer service representative that I have ever encountered. In addition, you think they could have at least swept up all the rodent droppings. read more

In less than one year, the rent went from $98/month to $161/month. As an added bonus, my stuff was covered in rat urine and feces, several items, some formerly very valuable, were rendered unsanitary or ruined completely. Reported this to management who is obviously somewhat limited in their ability to do anything about this other than call the Orkin folks out to place ineffective traps. The Regional manager gave me 1 free month but that doesn't come close to what it will cost to replace my ruined belongings. Fortunately I had great insurance and will be compensated, and the insurance company will go after Public Sewage for the damages. Couldn't get out of here fast enough. Also had bad experiences with Public Sewage in Santa Barbara (Goleta) where we stored items for my elderly mother who had to move due to illness. The company cares only about getting your rent dollars. Go elsewhere if you value your belongings and don't want to get screwed with exorbitant rent increases. read more

OK so far, I have been renting for almost 1 week; space is good for the price. But the other night (5pm) I was cornered in my storage unit by the employee on duty, he wanted to make sure I wasn't working on my car because he saw a light...at night. Because they didn't provide a light bulb, I was using my lantern. My unit was wide open, I had nothing to hide. I store a running, insured, registered car as well as lining the wall with boxes of my personal items. I told him I was planning to plug in my battery maintainer with a portable power supply, to see how long that will last.. and based on him staring at the empty light bulb socket, I wonder if he assumed I was trying to tap into the lightbulb socket. Really shouldn't walk up on people, without announcing who you are..1 hour after office hours. You could have been anybody, also it should be common sense that you need to use a light source at night. If I were an employee here, I would have recorded the unit number and sent out a PSA/reminder; instead of running up on a new tenant in the dark. read more

The rent was raised by almost $100 for a large storage unit ($330) and I couldn't bring the majority of my stuff with me, it was covered in rat urine and poop. The rats chewed my crib, parts to another bed and peed and pooped everywhere including chewing their way into a box of baby items. The gap that is left between the ground and the door also allow moisture to come into my unit and most things even those nicely boxed and taped shyly were damp and ruined and everything was also covered in cotton from the cotton that was in the air in spring. There were spider and spider eggs all over the unit as well. I would suggest ANYWHERE over this location. read more

The experience overall seemed positive outside of some minor things, until I came back to empty out my storage unit. I hadn't checked on it in about six months, since I never saw the need to if they were as top notch as they claimed. Instead, what I found was rat feces all over my belongings and the floor around them, and blocks of rat poison in every corner. I had never been contacted about this, and it seemed no effort had been made outside of the rat poison to clean the area up. I just emptied out one of my bags and found it reeked of urine, presumably from rats. No one ever notified me, and when I brought it up, they seemed to act as though it was my responsibility, despite the fact no one hand bothered to warn me they had a rat problem when I first decided to do business here. If you've had your belongings there for very long, I would suggest going and checking on them to make sure they're still intact. I have to throw away an entire bag of clothes because of the "oversight" they made of not bothering to contact me about a rat problem they clearly knew about. read more

"RENT AT OWN RISK" do not be upset when the rat infestation moves into all of your personal belongings ruining everything in the unit. I have a friend who is in her 70's that rented a unit here. She has no will to fight for all her ruined belongings because "the sentimental value" can not be replaced. District manager will not answer the phone nor return calls. No offer to refund a few months of rent or to let alone help clear out all of the items infested with rat crap and piss. read more

We have always paid well ahead on our storage and got a new bill for over $125 higher than last month without warning. Our larger unit is advertised for $298 but they want to charge us $441 for it. We stayed even though we were dealing with some rats because the manager was very nice. Newer, cleaner, less expensive (for now) storage is being built all around us with lower rates so we will move. There are reviews on their site but no place to actually leave one. The storage industry has become a bait and switch scam and needs to be looked at. Beware of the rate they are offering. it won't last and the new rate could be considerable. read more

I went in today to rent a unit. I was greeted by Tracey and received excellent service, even with it being her first day on her own after training. I was pleased with the process and how it all went. There may be other stores that get you done and out faster, not that this took awhile, but I was able to connect with Tracey as more than just a renter. She was kind, polite and held a conversation through it all.....which made the time fly by. I am a happy customer and will continue to be so as long as this is the type of service we continue to get. read more

Twice within a 3 month span our unit has been broken into. Upon inspection, neither the gate code or the building door code were changed since the first break in. Multiple units were compromised. We are vacating this storage ASAP. Found another the same size, closer to home, for 40% less. read more

I am in the military and quite frequently away from home, because of this I have had my large furnishings and a couple boxes of clothes kept in storage. My mother went to my storage unit today to look at a table I was thinking of selling and found the unit completely infested with rat and/or mice droppings. The droppings and urine were all over the ground, my mattresses, the couch and chair. I am not sure if the boxes were effected, she did not look in those. Everything in my storage will now need to be replaced for health and sanitary reasons. What makes this even worse is she could see that they pushed a little bag of rat poisoning under the door of my storage so they were obviously aware that there was an issue. I am furious that they were aware of this situation and did not have the decency or professionalism to notify the tenants and give us opportunity move storage units. Even worse than that, they put pesticides in with my belongings without first requesting permission (is that even legal?). I contacted the public storage insurance (Orange Door Storage Insurance Program) that I have been paying for almost 2 years and they told me that they would cover up to $250 in damages. $250!! That is ridiculous, first for the fact that there are thousands of dollars worth of damaged furniture in my unit now - second for the fact that I have spent well over $250 on this useless insurance and third because I have to pay a $100 deductible. If you value any of your belongings DO NOT leave them here at the public storage on 132nd in Kent. To add insult to injury, now I have to pay to get my items removed. I have paid over $2500 on monthly storage costs and now I get to pay to discard of all my ruined furnishings and then pay to get all new furnishings. What a joke. Save yourself a lot of money and frustration and go someplace else. NOTE - I just looked at my payment history and somewhere along the line, they raised my rental fee without my knowledge. I have my payment automatically withdrawn so I don't pay to much attention. BEWARE - this place is the worst! There is a new storage facility that went up at the end of 132nd - try that one. UPDATE - I have since talked with Tony the manager at the store and Jim Caster the General Manager and both said they understand my frustration but will do nothing to rectify this situation. Jim said the location of the site is on a greenbelt and rodents come with the territory. They will look into their pest control a little further but regarding my situation they will do nothing. Rats! Avoid this place at all costs! I paid to keep my things here for four months just to throw away everything my family owns because rats ruined it all. Insurance through Public Storage only covers a very small fraction of damages caused by vermin, its not even worth going through it to itemize. Who wants to touch things covered in rat excrement?. It's bad enough I'm losing all of my stuff! I haven't even received an apology, nothing. This was a inside unit and I did not have food in there either. Reserved online, then arrived for walk through. We walked into a room with "wood" walls. I kid you not. How is that secure? It felt like a cave with little lighting in the hallway and no lights in the 10x10 unit. She tried to sneak a lock on the door (with a plan to charge me 3x retail) which I noticed as we walked away and asked her about since I already had a lock. She asked if I brought it, but I told her there was no mention of needing a lock at time of signing paperwork. Based on all this I walked away and rented a unit at another place with better customer service. read more
