$ Saving Tips 1. Reservations-make reservations online by going to the Public Storage website. You get better prices and better deals/promos. Walk-In-Customers usually get ripped-off. 2. Insurance-Decline their Orange Door Insurance. Use your own insurance like "Homeowners" instead. Why double pay when you may already be covered by one of your insurance providers? Call your insurance providers to find out. You don't need to provide them with proof of insurance coverage, just decline at the time of rental. If you do buy their Orange Door Insurance, go for the cheapest and don't store more than you're covered for. If they ripped you off already and you're currently renting, you can remove their insurance at any time to save money, just visit the office. 3. Overpriced merchandise-Buy cheaper merchandise (boxes, tape, bubble wrap, etc.) elsewhere. 4. Overpriced locks-Secondary-locks (padlock, disc-lock, etc.) aren't necessary. It takes a thief less than 1 minute to break through all door locks. If you do buy a secondary-lock, buy for cheaper elsewhere. 5. Promos/Deals-If you're a Current-customer you don't qualify for a new promo/deal during transfers or renting additional units. Only New-Customers and Returning-Customers qualify for deals. To be considered a Returning-Customer you must vacate for at least 7 days. You also can create other accounts using other names to get promos/deals. 6. Late Fees-Each customer is entitled to a one-time late fee waiver. If you ever get charged a late fee, you can request this waiver to get a refund. 7. Fern was extremely helpful and friendly. I'm still in my first month and some of the other reviews are scaring me a bit. I'm getting deployed so my stuff will be there for awhile. I'm nervous about the reviews including notes about cockroaches and mouse droppings. The storage area was extremely clean when I moved my stuff in and so was the overall look of the place. I'm not storing food so hopefully that works in my favor. I honestly couldn't say enough about how helpful Fern was. I will say there was an unruly customer in the office at the time and she was definitely a hard a$$ with him, but he had obviously been drinking and was sloppy. I thought he deserved the treatment and she remained professional while not taking any crap. I think the $1 for the 1st month advertisement is kind of a load since there's fine print and I didn't qualify. I'd also recommend signing up online as it's quite a bit cheaper than doing it over the phone or in person. read more

Public Storage in Kaneohe, Hi has been able to assist me with finding me Storage space within my price range. I've own a storage space for about 2 years and they care about their customers and are always helpful with a smile. Fern professionalism is outstanding. She is easy to talk to, she's understanding, and just down to earth friendly. Whenever I have a question, she is always looking for ways to say, "Yes". If she is unable to assist, she will try to help you in whatever way she can. Steve is also great with customer service and is knowledgeable. Been a customer for about 4 months and can honestly say that this location could care less about their customers. I paid my fourth month one day late and received a late fee of about $35 dollar. I tried to get the late fee waived as I am in an industry that charges late fees on occasion. However, we waive late fees at times and even make exceptions for first time violations. This shows a blatant disregard for customer appreciation and empathy. The lady in the front could care less about the late fee and told me to take it up with customer service. She can now forward this yelp review to customer service and look forward to many more horrible reviews that I assume will be written about this location. We were already renting a unit, but had talk to Fern about downsizing, but the savings wasn't much. A few weeks later she called me and told me there was a similar unit available for a savings. Her customer service was top notch, she didn't have to call me, but she did. Redoing the contract was fast and easy. The overall units and grounds are very clean. I've witnessed the staff doing their security walks. Fern also came to make sure my move was going well. People may think the cost is high, but the quality of care and service you receive far out weighs the cost. It's worth the extra security, availability the facility is open to you. I was assisted by a very pleasant female out of the Kaneohe Office location by the name of Sam. I called after making an overage payment but missed the additional month by seven cents. Rather than reusing my card to pay the balance of seven cents, she paid it on my behalf which allows me the peace of mind til May 2021 while I recooperate from surgery. She didn't have to do that but did it anyway. I am in the deepest gratitude :) Sam is outstanding and compassionate. This place is great! The people are very professional and courteous. The location is convenient as well as secure. I was deployed for six months with the military over seas and had zero issues with the automated payment plan (which was modestly priced) while storing my belongings.
