I've been a customer of Kailua Mini Storage for about 8 years now. The folks there are kind, caring and pay attention to their customers. I've rented storage units during moves as well as keep a mailbox there and they are always helpful. There was a long while when I had misplaced my mailbox key (now found) and every time I came in, almost before I got through the door, one of the staff would already be on their feet getting my mail for me and handing the bundle to me over the counter. I got a mailbox here when I first moved to Hawaii and have had a great experience with the staff! I have one place to get my mail regardless of where I might end up moving around the island. They also can accept packages from UPS and FedEx while you're not around and keep them in air conditioned storage until you pick it up. These guys have been great to me. When I first moved to the area I needed a place to receive mail while I was looking for a permanent residence and after checking different mailbox options Kailua mini storage was by far the cheapest place and you don't have to sign up for a long term commitment. Along with being a good price option the staff is very friendly and helpful. I don;'t have a mailbox there anymore but I do use them for all my shipping to the mainland. The worst place to rent dollies! Few months back, we rented a dolley from them since we were moving to a different house. The staff were friendly the day we got there. It was about 3 pm when we rented it, and the lady that helped is said that it's $10 per day. We didn't think it was bad at all, so we took it home and finish some more moving. The next day around 1 pm when we returned the dolley. They have a different staff working that day and we got charged $20.89. I was confused about her math... $10 a day=24 hrs. Took the dolley home around 3 pm then after 22 hrs which is 1pm we got charged double. I don't see how she did the math... I don't mind paying for the price, but I don't really see how we got charged two times when it's less than 24 hrs. I would not recommend this place. They're rip off. They need to explain to their customers how their charging system works. read more

I fully recommend Kailua Mini Storage for military members or anyone. The folks there were really helpful and delightful during my deployment AND my PCS. Yep, they allowed me to ship my household goods from the facility. I explained the situation and they gave me the flexibility to make payments over the phone overseas and to close out the units when I got back. They were always friendly and very helpful. My valuables were still in good condition. There was no water damage or bugs. The only bad thing I can say is they don't have GIANT storage units, so don't expect to fit your whole house in one unit. That being said, ALL of my household items fit into two units easily. I appreciate these guys and it was a pleasure doing business with them. And I think you will too. read more

Life has been extremely overwhelming since Covid started. Simple tasks like going to the store and the post office are a nightmare! Just standing in line to mail off a box is crazy. I can bring in my things to mail with the addresses and they do the rest! They have all the boxes and weight it for you. It is a breath of fresh air in this crazy time. I've stored items here in the past and have a mailbox now for over ten years. Staff is always nice and the premises are well kept. Hours are good and after hours entry for mailbox is convenient. Only one rate raise in all the years I've been a customer and even with that the price is still fair. read more

I have rented a mailbox here for over the past year. The rates are much MUCH better than what you get at one of those UPS stores, and the service here is 300% better. They can also accept all packages (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc) and registered/certified mail for you unlike a PO Box. Everyone is super friendly and after a while knew me by name and immediately handed me my packages almost before I even got my mailbox open to give them the package slip. You can have 24hr access to your mailbox (not packages though - but they are open 7 days a week), it's temperature controlled, and you get superb service with a genuine smile. First things first horrible customer service. Hard to work with and have to contact them to ask if a unit I reserved is ready yet because the owner likes to keep his things in that unit, second, after not being told after I reserved the unit that I was no longer going to be able to get that unit because they were either too lazy to take his things out, or just didn't want to tell me they gave it to someone else after having a reserve on it. Which leads me to my next thing, I reserved a unit that was one size smaller and could bring my things in the next day. Not mentioning at all that there was a deadline to the reservation. Wasn't able to get there to purchase it that day because of work, and they were closed before I could call. So they didn't bother to call and ask if I still wanted it, or if I was able to make it, they simple threw it at the next customer. I understand when you have a business that you take what you can get. First come first serve. But that was pretty poor on there end to not ask if I still wanted it before throwing it to someone else. Shitty people, shitty help, zero interest in you or your things. Just money hungry. read more

I have been a customer for many years using both storage and mail services. In the last 2 or 3 the family owned small business has made many improvements in their operations. The prices are affordable, no they do not have late hours or air conditioning. The current staff members and family owners do their best to accomodate their customers needs. If you become a mail customer they will honor certain requests for faxing and so forth. read more
