So today I encountered a young lady named Ema, now at first I was a bit confused bc I've never rented storage space from public but she was super easy to talk to very respectful and kind and described everything in detail so that I was comfortable with renting the storage space, pricing and anything else that was to come in the next year as far as price raises and locks. I had so many questions and she answered them and more with a smile. Thank you Miss Ema !! I will be recommending public storage to all my friends and family read more

We've always found this a good value for the price. They are responsive and they call to check-in to make sure everything is going ok. Nice and helpful staff who keep a clean facility read more

Dishonest Rate Increases & Bad MOUSE INFESTATION Rented from this place over the summer. About three months in I realized that the price on my monthly bill had gone up, when I called to inquire they argued that they had sent me a letter and/or email notifying me about the rate increase. The funny thing is that I definitely didn't receive a letter and even after rechecking my email, couldn't find a single note about the rate increase. VERY DISHONEST! MICE! When I moved out all my stuff in frustration over their dishonest rates, I realized that mice had gotten into EVERYTHING! Plastic crates were chewed open, boxes of bed linens had urine stains (that i am still trying to remove), and almost every box smelled of mice and had droppings in the bottom. DISGUSTING!!! WILL NEVER EVER BE BACK! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! read more

I would give this place negative stars if possible. It's a scam. Sure they give you a nice discount rate to start. Rent is due the first of the month. When I called they made that clear. Imagine my surprise when my movers were at the unit with my stuff and they mentioned there are no partial months. No exceptions. Even though I am leaving the 3rd of the month, which is when I move, I'll be charged for the full month. They will be able to rent my unit out and make Double rent that month. They suggested I moved my stuff out by the 30th. If I could I'd get it out today but life doesn't operate like that. read more

Britney was great, but Britney is gone. All that's left is this company's disgusting and dishonest business practices. Here is how it works: they lure you in with the lowest monthly rate available anywhere, but then as soon as you move your stuff in, they immediately increase the rate by astronomical proportions. They've calculated that it's so much trouble to move your stuff in and out of their facility that they can get away with this and most people will just suck it up and pay the exorbitant monthly rent. The attorney general should conduct an investigation into these thugs. read more

I have been renting a small unit for 10 years and my price just jumped 25% over last year's rate. Rates posted on the website change daily so if you try to bargain, try mid-week--prices jump on the weekends. Given I can find a unit of similar size for 60 dollars less a month than proposed increase, I will likely just move my stuff to another storage company in Herndon/Reston. I used an interior unit, first floor--never really had any complaints--some spiders and once someone threw some of their belongings over the dividing walls between units--a space exists. Staff is nice--the price increase is what is making me move--way way way above local market rates. read more

I called the 1-800 Public Storage phone number to reserve a 5x8 space here. I placed the order on January 20, 2016 at a special rate of 50% off monthly rent for the duration of your stay. I received an email to confirm, and the gentleman who took my order was professional, and courteous. I had 7 days to move in to the unit or the reservation will be cancelled. On January 22, 2016 - Storm Jonas hit the DC area with 2 feet of snow. I called the facility and got no response from Friday to Tuesday. Understandably as we were all affected by the storm. Late Tuesday afternoon, I received a call from the property manager, Dave that the property was buried under snow and that we were not able to come in. I called on Wednesday, same story. Now, I am as understanding as anyone else of the storm. On Thursday (1 day after the reservation expired), I was told that the parking lot was plowed but all the units, and entrance was still behind a wall of 4 feet of snow. I called the head office, and 1-800 number back to let them know the situation. I was then told that since my 7 day reservation has lapsed, they were not able to honor my 50% off quote special. Instead, I had to pay their regular rate or special that was $1 for the first month, $100 after that. Absolutely not! I was on the phone with the representative, whom checked with his manager, district manager, etc. Finally after 45 minutes, I was transferred to Sara Shirazi, District Manager of Northern Virginia whom approved my old rate, and "honoring the price due to storm". I said wonderful and Thank You. I then got off the phone with her and called Dave at the location. He is very unpleasant on the phone and it's very clear that he was not happy to be dealing with me. For whatever reason, I have no clue!! He then told me that my rate was still $99/month, and that he can't changed the price, only the district manager can. I then let him know of our conversation with Sara, but he wasn't having it. He told me that I needed to contact her again, and get her to call him. I thought this was already being done? So I then called Sara and left a message on Thursday, and now today. No response. Firstly, it was not my fault the property was not plowed and I was unable to go in due to the failure of the property. Secondly, it is by law that commercial property/stores have to plow their entrances, and property within 24 hours. It is now Friday, and Dave advised me that I can come in if I want to climb over 3 feet of snow. Including hauling my items over the snow bank with me!! I live in the suburbs nearby. We were able to get out by Monday! I am shocked that this property is incapable of properly plowing the snow for their customers?? So not only am I not able to get in, others whom have property at this location is not able to access their belongings. I am pretty sure that is not legal either. As it stands, I did not get my unit. People still can not get into their units "unless you're willing to climb over the 3 feet bank of snow". The district manager did not call me back. Dave is still unprofessional and rude when I call. I can literally hear him breathing and huffing, giving me short, blunt answers. I told them this was a bait and switch, and also illegal. Don't deal with this company! They are unprofessional and do not care about their customers. Who wants to rent a unit with such a lazy and unprofessional property manager. I don't understand why Dave doesn't just pick up a shovel and start digging for his customer's sake! Or how about hiring someone to get the job done. It's crazy! read more

This review is gonna be short .... because all I have to say is that MIKE. IS. AWESOME. Man, Mike is so knowledgable, has such a nice touch when explaining complicated thingst to me, he was professional, SO nice...He was an absolute joy to work with. He was never pushy & was very honest about what he thought I needed (rather than be unethical & say I needed a bigger unit than I really did). I was so grateful for him. It was a stressful time, and God love 'im Mike made it better. THANKS MIKE !! (Public Storage, give this man a raise!) - Cheers. read more

Neadea was extremely knowledgeable and helpful for both selecting and renting a space and again during the move out process several months later. I would not hesitate to use this facility again. read more

DO NOT PUT YOUR VALUABLE ITEMS IN HERE UNLESS YOU WANT THEM DAMAGED They got a squirrel problem. Literally chewed up, peed and shit on over $4,000 in damages and the guy working there gives zero shits. The motto for Public Storage is written on his jacket that states they "treat your stuff like it's our stuff" - and when asking him whether his lack of customer service and care to assist us in giving recommendations on where to throw out our damaged furniture, he simply responds with "man, I just work here. I need this job". Fire this guy, take better care of your storage units, and treat your customers who pay good money with respect. read more

I was having an issue with my Public Storage account (and some craziness with their customer service dept) and while I have to admit, the very issue itself had been frustrating and time consuming, once I was able to connect the right folks, they were very pleasant and helpful with helping solve my issue. Bobby, the manager here at this location, while initially not understanding my crazy and abnormal issue, went out of his way, above and beyond, to try and help me solve it and come up with various solutions. Even after I left his store and was calling their corporate office in my car in the lot, he came out because he had contacted his corporate connections and was still working on the problem to help me. Very sweet, very kind, and before too long, all was resolved. Thank you for the great service and efforts. read more

While the staff was super nice and the facility is safe and mostly clean, I feel that there is a bait-and-switch issue going on. Everyone with at least some life experience knows that renting a storage unit for $1 your first month is too good to be true and while I expected this, I didn't realize HOW right I really was. After talking on the phone to their incredibly pushy salesman who insisted that I needed a smaller unit than I really did, I was told that my total would be $1 for the rent, and a $22 administrative fee. I was told that this was all that would be needed on the first day. Fast forward a couple of days when I arrived. The guy on the phone never told me that they prorate the rent for the first month. Since they collect it on the 1st, if you move in after the 1st (which is pretty much any other day of the month), they prorate your rent for the rest of that month. So really, your 1$ rent doesn't begin until the next month. What was supposed to cost me $23 as promised by the pushy man on the phone, ended up costing me between $60-$70. Of course, this information was not divulged to me until checkout, which was AFTER I was invited to move all of my belongings into the unit and it was too late. I was up against a serious deadline and didn't have time to shop around the area and move my things so I did what most people probably do and I just paid for it. What can you do once you're in a pickle? Also, go with you gut instinct. Don't let someone insist on telling you how much space you'll need if they've never seen your house. I REALLY could have used one size larger. The guy on the phone was trying to talk me down to even a SMALLER size, but I insisted on using at least the size that I ended up renting. It was still a mistake though because I have no idea how I'm going to get that door open once I'm ready to move my stuff! :( So all in all, $60-$70 is a far cry from the $23 move-in cost that I was promised over the telephone, and it is CERTAINLY more than the $1 that is boasted on the television commercials Bottom line, the old saying always applies. "If it seems like it's too good to be true, it probably is!" read more

I am in the process of moving to a condo in Reston and needed additional storage space. I stopped by this site and meet the manager Bobby. He took his time and explained the different sizes and options. Very helpful since this was my first experience with storage renting. I'm a few months away before moving but will be renting a unit there when the time comes. Ken J. read more

Would absolutely steer clear of this Public Storage location. I have used Public Storage many times and was surprised at what a poor product and customer service I received at this location. After storing our furniture for approximately three months we come back to find our sofa destroyed by mold. After notifying the employee on duty, he expressed no concern or assistance and simply told us it had to be out before they charged us for another month. When I asked if they offered any assistance to cover the cost of dumping the sofa he said absolutely not and again offered no help or suggestions such as who we could call to go about getting it removed. He then gave me the number of the district manager. I called her, left a message, and of course have heard nothing back. Very discouraging to move from far away, find your property destroyed in a location where you were told it would be safe, and then receive no assistance from the company you paid to protect it. read more
