I recently got a storage unit at this location, and let me say that I got the best customer service I've had in quite a while. The rental process was easy and quite fast. The location was clean and my storage locker was in such a convenient straight shot location. I was going in expecting to break the bank for the unit I had reserved but when I came in I was asked what I was storing and the manager was able to find a smaller (and cheaper) storage than what I had originally requested. When moving in the manager Anna, stopped by to make sure everything was going as planned. I thought that was such a great gesture she really made the whole process seem personal. I am completely satisfied with my experience here. Luckily I will not need the locker for much longer since I found a place, lets hope everything goes accordingly! I've never been motivated enough to write a bad review about anyone/place or thing before in my life but I couldn't let this one pass me by. Signed up for a unit with these guys online at a rate and locked in the price with my credit card back in November 2011. I Went into the office to fill out the paperwork and they tried to raise the rate. Luckily I walked with a printout of my confirmation. I should have taken my notice then. The very first month, they called me to tell me that I hadn't fully cleared out my unit. So being baffled because I just moved in the previous week, I'm at a loss for words. After about 5 minutes of total confusion on the phone, they realised it was a mixup with a different customer/unit and told me they'd mistakenly cut my lock and they will replace with a new one so I should come get the new key. Every month they tried to bill me at the higher rate even calling and sending messages in the mail saying I'm past due and threatening further action if I don't pay up. When I call it's as if we never spoke the previous month. They'd then apologise & promise to re-rate my unit permanently, yet the following month like clockwork we'd have the same conversation again(Same individuals). I'd even pre-emptively call them to discuss the matter monthly before they made their collections calls or sent their messages but that didn't help. They've even disabled my gate code a couple of times AFTER assuring me that they've noted my account and will permanently re-rate. Then recently they called me to notify me that all the units in my section were broken into....I can't imagine any storage facility that could be worse than this place. worst.storage place.ever. seriously. i moved out...told them i was moving. left the unit spotless...then they call a month later saying my payment is overdue. i remind them that i moved out. they claim that there is still a lock on the unit. i say that if there is it's not mine because i took my lock with me. the girl starts to get sassy with me so i ask for her manager. she gives me his number. i call and leave a message for him twice. he never calls back. months later i get a letter in the mail saying i've been sent to collections by them. I have moved quite a few times over the past few years. Adjusting from the single life to family life was an even harder adjustment. Moving from a house to an apartment = nightmare. Space became a major issue when we moved into our current apartment, so I decided to rent a storage unit. We live in Pacifica, but rented a storage unit in Hayward. Why the distance? Because, like rental prices for homes in the Peninsula, storage units are very costly. However, I'm not writing this review to tell my life story. I reserved a 5x5 unit at this location online. The following day, I was contacted by their manager. It was a great courtesy that they even acknowledged my reservation. The upcoming weekend is when we packed all our seasonal belongings and moved them in. We met with the manager who was the one that gave me a courtesy call. She was very friendly and personable by the way, but I can't remember her name to give her credit. She went over all the details of the lease thoroughly and made sure to answer any and all questions we had. Since it was our first time renting a storage unit, we had quite a few. The young woman was very patient with us and gave us instruction on how to further make use of our rental. The day after we "moved in," I got another phone call from Public Storage. I thought I forgot to do something or paid the incorrect amount. The young woman simply wanted to check on us to see how our move went. That was the extra mile for me. Today (9/15/12), we emptied the storage unit because we are moving yet again, but to a house that accommodates that extra space. We didn't know what the policy was on cancelling a unit, so after loading bf and I went into the office. It was another young woman that helped us. I let her know that we emptied the unit and took the lock with us. She too was very kind and let us know that it was no problem. She got on the computer and printed me a confirmation receipt, and that was that. No hassle. No headaches. That's great customer service. So I would recommend this Public Storage location for those who are seeking good prices, along with great service. read more

Hands down best storage in Bay Area. I have had public storage many times and this one has been by far best experience. Anna is fantastic, so helpful and sweet. We aren't in need of a storage facility very often, but when we are, we will be using the Public Storage at 29824 Mission Blvd in Hayward :) Dana and Josh were fantastic! Worst customer service ever!!!! Stay clear from here worst storage experience ever, they have all these hidden fees they tell you one price then its a whole other price so we started at 60$ and. worked all the way up to a total different price over a 100 for the first month!! There is always no carts and the elevators are constantly breaking down. Today we were called about three dollars we owed them?, (because we were supposed to be out by 6pm last night not 830pm) they were really trying to pro rate that! I have changed the card and I am trying to get back into my storage because I am moving and need my stuff out. I've rented a storage unit from these people for FIVE years. Never late on a payment...didn't go totally whacky on them when, for three months their system kept screwing up my passcode and not letting me IN to my storage unit (and wouldn't credit me for the days I COULDN'T use my unit!). Didn't abuse the privilege for which I paid...dearly. And..here is the crux of the issue: For five years they got their money out of me- EVERY year a rate increase to the tune of $15 - 20.00...PER MONTH...per year. My 10x10 for 2015....(drum roll...) $214.00. I live in Hayward....SOUTH Hayward...not Marin. So, I decided that enough was enough and I went shopping. LESS THAN FIVE MILES DOWN THE ROAD...SAME unit...SAME situation...$135 per month. Rate increase: every two years. A-1 Storage, great folks. Back to PUBLIC STORAGE I go: any help here? (No.) Going to be moving out. (Ok) It's the 11th of the month, I'll move out today. I know that the contract says I need to tell you on the 10th in order for you to pro-rate the rent...can ya spot me a day? (No.) I've rented from you for FIVE YEARS - you can't give me ONE DAY? (No) SO...I rented the new storage unit...moved my stuff out....asked them what they intended to do with my old unit (Rent it out as soon as we can). And they will. This is the 22nd of the month....I actually moved out on the 18th....and they are welcome to rent that flippin' space out on the THIRTY FIRST because THAT'S when I'm paid up to and I'm not taking my lock out UNTIL. Shop around folks...Public Storage wants your dime...all of them in fact. They're greedy and they do NOT give a damn about their customers. DO NOT RENT HERE! My husband and I suspect the district Manager aka Jose, of this site has stolen about $5000 worth of our personal belongings. Our storage unit went unpaid and therefore we defaulted into Lien. The District Manager thought we were not going to pay our storage fees and therefore, cut our lock and ransacked our property. He was the only one who cut our lock and the only one who had access to our property. We are missing the following items and will be suing Public Storage. 1. White Gold Male's Wedding Ring with 5 diamonds worth $2000 2. Compound Turkey Bow worth approx. $500.00 3. 20 Target Arrows worth $50.00 4. P90x Brand new in the box worth approx $100 5. Redline Bicylce worth approx. $1000 6. BlueRay/DVD with 10 cordless speaker surround system brand new in the box worth approx. $400 7. Box of DVD's/Blue Ray worth over $500 8. Check Book 9. My husbands grandfathers 24k gold pocket watch engraved (NOT REPLACEABLE) Totaling all this up this equals over $5000 worth of personal belongings. CONVENIENTLY once you go into Lien, Public Storage cancels your insurance therefore nothing is covered! Good thing we have receipts and we will be prosecuting and suing Public Storage. We have called the Police Department and made a theft report. The suspect will be interviewed this week. CONVENIENTLY when the cop asked the District Manager where the security footage is he can't find it. He has no pictures of our storage unit. The cop said when speaking to the suspect, District Manager aka Jose aka THEIF, he believes he stole our stuff because he kept getting his story mixed up. However nothing can be proven just yet. While we were on site discovering our property missing, another storage customer was screaming and cussing at the lady from the office because he was violated as well. He also had his belongings stolen from the same site. Probably from the same employee. DO NOT RENT here. I can't imagine that all facilities are like this but 29824 Mission Blvd has THIEVES working for them. We will be suing. read more

NEVER, EVER CHOOSE THIS LOCATION TO STORE YOUR ITEMS!!! I wish there was a rating lower than one star. This location has a serious RAT INFESTATION!! It is absolutely horrible and to top it off, if you try to make an insurance claim, there is a $250 cap on damages, minus the $100 deductible. So...no matter how extensive the loss, you're only walking away with $150. Sad!! This facility did not even have the decency to notify their customers of the rodent issue. When you drive upon the property, you see rat poison traps/boxes everywhere throughout the property. GROSS!!!!!!!!!! When I opened my unit there were rat droppings on several boxes, on furniture, on the ground, everywhere! Do yourself a favor and find another property to store your items. read more

This is the worst place ever. I just cleared out the unit over the weekend and threw away thousands of dollars in merchandise because of the RAT SHIT. So I was being charged $210 a month for the RATS rent. This place needs to be shut down. I can't believe that they advertise cleanliness when the facility is disgustingly filthy. The unit got broken into twice, and earlier this year when we decided to start cleaning it out, we forgot the unit number and tried a unit close to ours and were able to magically open someone else's unit. When I told the girls at the front desk, They said that there are 10 locks with the same keys, just that they try not to send them to the same facility. REALLY??? they said that the place was disgusting and that the manager does not care about the customers. They even recommended I try a facility in Fremont. If there was a way to sue them for all my losses believe me I would. I am currently looking into it. NOT NOT NOT NOT A GOOD PLACE TO STORE YOUR ITEMS IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THEM. If you do you might as well throw them out now and save the trouble of doing it later with RAT SHIT on everything and worrying about getting sick. I can't and won't even give this place a score. We reserved the unit, showed up to complete the walkthrough and sign contract. Based on our confirmation it appeared that we were receiving the 1st month for $1.00, then $52.00/month thereafter. To that an administration fee of $24.00 was added along with $19.49 for a lock. Upon questioning the clerk with respect to the admin. fee the reply was that she didn't know what it covered. Okay. We proceeded to ask to confirm the terms of our rental agreement. Our understanding: First month $1.00; questionable administration fee $24.00; cost of lock $19.49 for a total of $44.29. Wrong, the total is $96.49. What? Where did the additional $52.00 come from? She replies that $52.00 is the monthly rent. Oh, I reply, we're paying the first and second months rent. No, that's just for the 1st month. How can that be when the 1st month is only $1.00? Well, she replies that shouldn't be there, it's just to get you to come in. Excuse me! Isn't that false advertising? What's going on? We left shaking our heads. On top of all this, the place is filthy, and with respect to the upper level, did not appear to be safe or secure.
