This is the worst experience I've had with any storage company. From the day I moved in to the day I left. Price hikes of around 10% every six months, remote gate access has never worked to leave the property the whole time I've been there despite reporting it multiple times and when I finally left today was told that because I was one day into my next billing cycle I had to pay for the whole month. There would be no pro rated refund for the remaining 30 days of this month. When I left, I looked for a member of staff to let them know I was leaving, and the office was locked and remained locked for over 15 minutes with no member of staff visible. In the end I left and had to call in to the main phone line to find out about final payments. Wish I'd stayed with extra space storage. read more

The customer service at this facility has always been awesome! The facility stays clean and is very secure. I have been in three different size units and all went well. However, it's not cheap here! The prices are always going up. About every six months expect an increase. You can call or email and request they do not increase the price. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. We always need a storage unit, but I hate paying to store junk. I would recommend this storage unit and if I need to use a unit again, I would return. It is expensive though. read more

ID required to bottom cart but they keep leaving and locking the office to go on break or show other customers units. Forced to stick around and wait for them to return in order to get ID back and leave. Stupid policy. Saw working walking by office. Asked him to give me my id real quick so that I can leave. He said no he's going to show another unit to another customer. Need a better system. Put a temp hold on a credit card if you're scared of people stealing carts instead of taking their IDs. read more

At the beginning of my rental the staff were very friendly and nice. Two weeks after moving in thieves broke in to my unit and other units. I lost thousands of dollars in stolen goods. I covered my stuff with insurance, however, the insurance wanted receipts of any stolen item which is impossible for some items given as gifts. The company in the meantime was completely uncaring. For every inquiry they referred me to insurance like the theft didn't happened to their property but somewhere else. I learned after the fact from the news that this particular property had another theft incident two years ago. If I have known that fact before I moved my stuff there I would never move in. read more

Public Storage is quickly becoming the worst Storage facility in the business. Their facilities are extremely poorly managed. The properties aren't kept clean, they have rodents crawling around and most of their staff are young uneducated, rude people. I've been at the Glendale, CA property a number of years. Currently all lights on the 4th floor have been out for over a week. Exterior lighting is out making it unsafe to visit the facility at night. Earlier this year, the elevators were down causing customers on above level floors to carry furniture up and down stairs. The bathroom (only one) is so disgusting you wouldn't want to enter it to wash your hands. Public Storage is only interested in obtaining money, not in providing good service. Your rates increase 30 to 40 percent before you're here 6 months. The managers and district managers are incompetent and have no communication skills. Stay away from Public Storage. read more

Horrible storage company to work with. They'll increase your rent with NO attempt to contact you. Customer service is no help since they're limited to policies created and are basically just robots. I moved out at beginning of month and offering to pay for the 2 days I used it but they won't do that. Now they will spend more money and resources trying to get they're fraudulently increased rent back and will lose a customer and receive a bad review. Good luck to whoever is running operations. The absolute worse company ever! They've been gouging prices way too long! I have had a storage unit with them for 11 years and am done! I started out paying $234 month and am now being charged $871.00 a month!!!!! That is ridiculous and I've signed a petition to not only have them investigated, based on "California does have a law, the Self-Service Storage FacilityAct, setting rules for the industry. BUYER BEWARE! This Public Storage location has been the subject of multiple break-ins throughout the past few years. I am a repeat customer only because I am just learning of this issue. Recently, I learned that the facility was broken into in August twice in a matter of a couple days. Yes, the location requires insurance, which I purchased; however, most things stored in my space have more sentimental value than actual resale value. I understand that crooks will be crooks but I expect that, at the very least, the company would heighten its security measures immediately and notify current renters not only for the sake of transparency but also for people to be cautious upon returning to their units. I am well aware of the ramifications that such a warning might have on a company - be it from legal and/or business/marketing aspect. Nevertheless, I would expect that a company would prioritize their customers' privacy, safety, and well-being over a temporary potential for decrease in sales. I returned to my unit to discuss safety measures with the front desk worker. The young Hispanic female was nothing short of rude and dismissive in hearing my questions and concerns. She hardly let me get a word in before repeatedly stating, "We cannot provide any information at this time." While I understand the need to limit the information being provided during an ongoing investigation, I do not appreciate such a substantive lack of information regarding the security where my belongings remain. I was able to access a generous amount of information posted online by the local police department. The posts included the date and time of the incident including actual video footage of the break-in and an explanation of what exactly occurred. With this public information readily available to anyone and everyone seeking such information, the only remaining reason for their secrecy is fear for losing customers. This type of behavior is the definition of despicable business practice. I am actively seeking to move my belongings and urge all others to do the same. read more

When I first came here, the place was clean and well kept. They will definitely lure you in with good prices for the first 3 months. But after that, without any warning, they sent me an email informing me that my storage rent would increase. I was paying around $400, and suddenly they raised it to over $650. I couldn't believe how deceiving they were. I tried to discuss this with someone, and they offered me another deal, but the deal they emailed was very different from what they actually charged - it was MORE! They acknowledged the mistake, yet they continued to charge me the wrong amount. In the last month, I emailed eescalante@publicstorage.com about my last payment, and Estella ignored and refused to email me back! I sent her numerous emails, but of course, she didn't reply because I had already moved out. She did not care. They do not care. The customer service and district managers are horrible. I just moved into the smallest kind of unit here, and overall this place is great. It's nice, clean, well maintained, and Teresa was incredibly helpful and sweet during my move in. However beware of "Orange Door Storage Insurance," which is a bit of a scam. It's actually the same company! The staff has to tell you that it's required to have storage insurance, but it seems like they're not allowed to tell you that if you already have renters insurance or homeowners insurance, that should cover it. Don't get the "Orange Door Storage Insurance," but do get a storage unit here. It's great aside from that! read more

This company (owed by a REIT out in CA) is bait and switch and hates speaking with its customers. They offer low introduction price, and quickly raise it - mine almost doubled after just two months. Then when you ask why, they say they will check into it but never call you back. The corporate phone is 100% automated, no option to talk to someone. The "live chat" they boast about is also just AI/computer with no person on the other end. Instead of explaining things to a customer, they send 'no-reply' emails telling you that your "recent request for a rate reduction has been denied", and they include their corporate phone if you want to call it - of course as I mentioned no one is there. The unit is fine, but do NOT try to ever get any customer service - they do NOT care and avoid you like the plague. If you call your location it always goes to voice mail - they say they will call you back but do not do so. I wanted a climate controlled storage, and this was one of the few in the area. It was easy to reserve a space online. The check-in process was swift and professional. This is by far the cleanest storage I've ever been. And, also the best maintained too. The building feel very secure, since you need a code to enter the building (outside of office hours), and to operate each elevator. I'm a very satisfied customer. read more

Not a safe place to keep your valuable belongings. They broke into my storage and stole my valuable products. If they can't keep the property safe there is no point to have a storage at this location. Very disappointing, I already moved my belongings out of this location and will be cancelling my contract with them. I lost over 5k worth of items. It is so easy for a crook to climb on a ladder and cut the roofing wires to enter into your storage. BE Careful don't trust this property. Even though we knew the person must be from the same floor, they claimed it is against the law to have cameras in the hallways so they got away with my products. Here is my on going saga with this public storage. Since my father's passing, we had ongoing issues. We had to go rounds with them to get custody of this unit. Since my brother, who does not live in the state requested I be added to the unit when my father passed, all was good until today. As in this particular storage the code is changed once a month. So we go in as little by little we are trying to get rid of the furniture, I went to the front to get the code, which they never had a problem giving it to me, now she said they cannot give it to me!! Vlad was awesome. Excellent customer service. It's a new building, and it seems to be climate controlled and that's great. By far the nicest, cleanest public storage building I've seen. I don't like having to pay for insurance - it should be a choice. Also, not knowing when I'm going to get a rate hike is annoying. For now I'm happy, but based on the mandatory insurance and ambiguous rental increase schedule I plan on vacating as soon as I can. It's a new building though. This business gets a Covid forbearance, EIDL and PPP loan with 75% forgivable amount to offset their expenses, however non of that being transferred to their customers. They still increase their rents every 6 months, even tho everything else is halted in the country. I'm moving my stuff out to the other storages that doesn't increase the rent till the country is back on its feet again. This is anti-American business. The app doesn't seem to work when used to unlock anything. It just sits and spins a loading screen when in the facility. They tried to send me my access code via email but it just said your "access code is access code". Ultimately I was handed a post-it note with my code on it. So the whole contactless, e-rental promise was kind of a sham. If that's your big concern then steer clear and find a different company to work with. The facility seems nice and the people were pleasant but the technology isn't where it needs to be. Not as easy as advertised. What a bummer. read more

I sure wish there was a lower grade than one star!!!! Public storage is an absolute scam - they give you a price it's a little bit better than what's around town, and then you pay some fees and you get your unit, after 6 months they raise your unit's price insanely. I got my unit a year ago, Then after 6 months they raised my unit 44% in price, I moved to another unit so that I could get a decent rate it was still 15% more than the old unit, however now it's been 6 months and they have raised my rate again 28%. Obviously they don't care about their customers and they like to rape and rip-off people! I would tell you that I don't care if you can get a unit somewhere else that's a little bit more go ahead and get it because guaranteed in 6 months you'll be looking to move or you'll be struggling to afford your storage. I found most location managers very Kind and helpful however their hands are tied. While it used to be you could talk to the district manager, but now you can't even talk to them all the big wigs fat cats sit on their cans in Glendale, California are just raking in the money and ripping people off anybody they can! All of the staff is incredible! Jerry is the one I dealt with and still do. He goes above and beyond. There was one time when I was trying to move my stuff by myself to a larger area. This group that was moving on the same floor took up a lot of space and one guy was constantly on his cell is my way. I had to always stop and wait for him to move. I told Jerry about it and he went up and solved the problem, professionally. The facility is always clean and I always feel very safe no matter what time I go. I also know for a fact that when you sign up with them you are told the monthly rate will change at times. It could go up or down. This is told to you before you sign the final papers. read more

I have been with public storage for over a year now and have to say that the staff is great. Everyone is always helpful and pleasant. Jerry in particular has gone above and beyond to be accommodating and sympathetic. Although my rent has increased sharply, I am still paying less than at my former storage facility and getting a far superior unit. I've been with Public Storage since January of this year. They charge for the everything: insurance (unless you have your own and they don't tell you that you can cancel their insurance at any time...just to make a few extra bucks off you), lock (only their lock fits this locker), and THEY CAN RAISE YOUR RATE AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. Calling their 800 number just bounces you from automated message to automated message without sending you to a real person. Going into the store, the many employees sitting around can't actually help you; it's the district manager's job who may or may not be able to do anything either. At this location, it was Felipe, who is very friendly but will say his hands are tied by "corporate"; the same faceless and heartless entity to which most poorly run companies have their employees defer responsibility. To be fair, the place is clean and air conditioned. Bottom line: your rent can be raised for any reason, by any arbitrary amount, at any time. Disregard for customers in a passive-aggressive way that is designed to make you give up and comply. read more

The online pricing sits on a throne of lies. THE GOOD: The place is new, clean, and close to the freeway. At the time of this rating the location had only been open for two months. The staff is young and friendly. They just seem happy to be working, hopefully that lasts. You can check in online and someone immediately calls your phone to confirm and answer questions. THE BAD: You're given a price online which does not include the $19 fancy lock that you must buy, and the $11/month minimum mandatory insurance. read more
