No matter what don't come here go elsewhere. On top of dealing with some of the worst customer service you will also Be dealing with thieves. I admittedly fell behind on my payments and my unit was in danger of being auctioned. They use this opportunity to cut your lock and go through your storage to pick and choose stuff they want to steal from you because they're allowed to go thru it legally. It sucks because they're doing this to people that are already going through issues. You have to be pretty heartless to steal from people like that. On top of that when you reach out to them they treat you like you're not a customer. Lots of positive reviews here but in my experience as a 3-year customer leaving in disgust, I found this place to be a grift and I'm glad that I was able to create an option to get out. My primary issue is the price. When I moved my things in 3 years ago the price was $99 for a tiny space. There was never any contractual stipulations that this was an introductory offer but that was in fact what it was because after the first year, the massive price hikes kicked in. In that 3 year period, the price climbed from $99/mo to $269/mo. Just like everything in this world these day, this corporation decided to destroy customer trust and take advantage of me because I had no other options. There is no option to negotiate these crazy price hikes because they hide behind corporate policies that demand that rental prices are commensurate with property values in the area. Great for them but extremely customer unfriendly. I'm very glad to be done with these unscrupulous corporate pirates and wanted to warn others about their grift. Terrible customer service & discriminatory practices in office. waited 30 minutes outside locked office during business hours. an existing customer was perplexed as he needed to use the restroom. Site Manager has major attitude and apparently denies Extra Storage business due to lack of professionalism. Also lied and said an available unit had been rented out because she likes to discriminate. After all of that, customer service said I can rent the unit, as it WAS available, paid for it and assured I did NOT need to stop by the office. Then, crazy site manager calls me with an attitude and demands I come in w/ my license to verify my identity. Terrible customer service with discriminatory practices = I will tell everyone about this horrid location. I would rather pay more than give this location any money, yet I found a cheaper unit at Public Storage- no issues, what a waste of time and effort. As others have mentioned they will raise your rent after 3 months if it's like my situation. They raised my rent from $215 to $295. $80 increase! Absurd. If they continue the rate increase the cost of my unit would be $535 a month, at 1 year. I will be moving my stuff long before then. Extra Space Storage's business model is a bait and switch. I advise you to store your items elsewhere. In response to Emily's comment. You make a poor 'straw man' argument. No one expects the rate to stay the same for the life of the rental. It's reasonable to expect that it won't increase by $80 after 3 months though. Jocelyn was extremely helpful. I wasn't sure what size storage unit I needed. She not only showed me multiple units, but also locations on site as well as the elevator. She broke down costs for me and offered her contact number for follow up if I needed it. Checked out a few storages before this one, and wow, is it hard to get ahold of an actual person on the phone. This one answered right away, answered my questions, and were ready to take me on a tour and show me the units after I reserved one online. All of the buildings were super clean, looks like they put new carpets, and the actual units were very clean. The manager, Jocelyn, was absolutely amazing. It was oh first time renting a storage, so she guided me through everything and helped me pick out what would suit my needs best. I am very impressed by the staff and the cleanliness. I have had the unit for about a month now, have gone in only a handful of times, but they are consistent. They are technologically up to date and have an app to check on your unit, pay, and open the gate through your phone. Huge plus. So far so good read more

The manager Jocelyn A. was very helpful in showing me different units that would fit my moving and storing needs. They were patient and thoughtful. They were especially helpful given that my online reservation was cancelled, but I never received the notifications prior to cancellation. In terms of the space, the indoor units seem well protected from the weather. I may update this review after storing my belongings for some time. LARGE UNANNOUNCED RENT INCREASES IS A COMPANYWIDE POLICY AND TACTIC SO IT AFFECTS ALL LOCATIONS, NOT JUST THE ONE I RENTED FROM. Do not rent from Extra Space Storage. 1. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. Without notice!!! 4. Only when I called them on this did they agree to a PARTIAL refund, and would not guarantee future increases would not happen. They will always use the same language: "From time to time customers may be subject to a rent increase due to the competitive blah blah blah." There's no "time to time" about it. They will IMMEDIATELY AND SUBSTANTIALLY GOUGE YOU after you sign up. This *IS* their business model. read more

PRICE GOUGING!!! - Wow. I'm apoplectic. I just went to pay my monthly bill online (I've only been there for four months so far) and my usual bill of $221.00 has jumped up *$80.00* to $300.00. EIGHTY DOLLARS IN FOUR MONTHS!!! No letter, no email, no warning that they were going to royally REAM me. I'm still trying to get back on track after covid, when my business took a huge hit - now THIS?$? EIGHTY F-ING DOLLARS INCREASE?!? Every time I had a question, the team went out of their way to help. Prior to moving in, I signed up with Extra Space in San Francisco. Justin emailed me photos of my new unit before I moved here in October, so I knew exactly what to expect. The prices here are fair, but the customer service is the biggest benefit. The team at Extra Space keeps the property looking impeccable. I am so appreciative of the support I received from Justin and Val. Hi! I've been at this location for 3+ years. I run an online store and developing a foundation, hence I need a storage because I cannot have all this stuff in the place I'm current at, as it's a temporary shelter. The last 2 years have been brutal here. The increase of fees, late fees and rent. You would think if you have 4 units and been there for a long time there would be some kind of discount or negotiate to keep you there, NOPE. There's no open negations at all. It's designed to be a trap to keep your stuff and auction it off. Beginning of pandemic I was severely injured by a drunk driver which permitted me from a lot of work. I did not get call backs for help. There was a letter sent out if we ware struggling and need help to call, the number never calls back. I hate to see my whole life go to the drain because of someone else crime action on my life and no resources to be available for those who pay so much money to survive. This place is becoming the devil. I'm preparing myself to another round of depression and helplessness when my house gets auction off. Please do not store here as it's super hot as hell too! So your paying an increase price to store your stuff in hell literally. I wish things would change but it's just a place to dump all your assets, store supplies and money into. read more

Let me preface this by saying I've rented from Extra Space before. I don't have any issues with Extra Space as a company. I have an issue with Bernadette and her attitude. Before I had even rented the unit, she was very rude to me over the phone. Talking over me when I tried to ask questions. She has a ghetto attitude and just made the whole process much more difficult than it needed to be. This woman should not be in customer service. I rented for one month and then moved to the Pacoima location. From reading the other reviews it appears the Burbank location has lost considerable business because of this one employee. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Val. Val is a shinning star, very helpful, knowledgeable and has a cheery disposition. Thank you for all your help Val! He is the only reason this location gets two stars. About the facility itself: my unit was on the second floor with lift access only. I've never experienced "lift access" at Extra Space before. Lift does NOT mean elevator. Buyer Beware: It is a major pain!! The layout on that second floor is such that to get to the lift you have to navigate the cart around an impossible corner and the cart will 9 times out of 10 tip over dumping whatever you loaded onto it all over the floor. The unit gets very hot and the facility is old and in need of renovations. I moved to Pacoima location and it is literally night and day difference. I recommend checking it out: much more updated facility, nicer staff, climate controlled units for not that much more dough. The ONLY plus to Burbank facility is they have the carts available for use after office hours. read more

Just wait until your limited time, introductory offer price expires. Once that happens and it's too big of a pain to move your stuff, WHAM!!! Our fee went from $80 to $130 in one month! I just signed up on line ....had a little glitch with opting out of insurance. Called the national number, almost immediately was called back by Justin at the facility. He finalized the lease over the phone...made the process super easy....I work/manage in an industry (collision repair of high end vehicles) where product quality and customer service is king.
