If I could give 0 stars for Public Storage, I would. I was a customer of this facility for almost 20yrs and for the past 3yrs, there was no light in my unit as when the electrical was redone in the facility, my storage locker was forgotten. It's impossible to see into the storage locker without a light. I asked, every month, for 3yrs to have the light installed and for 3yrs, I was given excuse after excuse as to why it wasn't installed but each time was told not to worry, they'll fix it thru the District Manager and obviously that was a lie as whomever the District Manager is, he just didn't care. Calling the 800 number didn't help, I was given a small credit in the rent but was told only the District Manager could order the electrical fix needed for my unit. When Public Storage sent me a letter telling me they were raising the rent to $700 a month for a 10x15 unit, I knew we had to vacate. Had it not been for Dave, the recently new Property Manager, who said upon coming on board, don't worry, I'll have this problem immediately fixed and did a follow-up to make sure it was, we'd be still stuck there. Dave the Property Mgr had it fixed within a few days and we could finally see into the locker ... Dave is amazing... Helpful, caring, nice, professional and the only employee of Public Storage who cares! Public Storage customer service is lower that sub-par. The place is so convenient and clean and well maintained. The smart access makes it so easy to not have to worry about forgetting codes and I feel safer knowing people's access can be removed when they no longer have a unit. David has been sooooo much help getting me through my move and providing dollies for me. Really disappointed in my experience with public storage. I needed to store my entire apartment for one month, and I wanted to make sure all my items would fit in the unit that I would rent. A day before I moved my stuff, I went to public storage to check the unit and reserve it. The day of my move, I was given a completely different unit that did not satisfy the requirements I needed in order to fit my stuff. I was paying my movers by the hour, so it was really frustrating that I had to waste time and money to go back to the front desk and reserve a different unit for the second time after already taking the time a day before to make sure everything ran smoothly. & I wasn't even given the original unit that I had reserved after the second time. Also, the elevator takes forever to go up and down. When you're paying movers by the hour, an elevator that takes 5 minutes to go up and down, makes a huge difference. Lastly, I had asked to borrow 2 carts, and I was told by the person in the front desk that I could only borrow a second cart if I left a review. There was nobody using any of the carts as I was there early to move out my stuff. I had enough at that point and opted for only borrowing one. I will not be using public storage in the future & I would not recommend this business. read more

Sadly a family member passed away, and I was tasked with wrapping up all loose ends, including cleaning out her storage unit. I've never had a storage unit before, so there were rules that I think don't make sense here (like hours to access are only from 6am-6pm, which is so weird because someone is storing their personal belongs with them and should be able to get them at any time; but maybe this is a general rule amongst all storage companies?). Anyway, David has helped in the past and has been helpful, but today, on the day we were officially clearing things out, he was not here. Instead, it was Sabrina. Earlier in the day, she was nice enough to open up the elevator for me when I left my phone with the access code in my unit, and I thanked her for doing that. Then when we came back to load the rest of it, the elevator broke around 5:35 (we were so close to being done, with only 2 more large items and 6 boxes that could have been done before they closed). By the time she determined it was broken, it was around 5:47, and we could no longer move anything. (So now we have to rent the truck again tomorrow and drive two hours round trip to pick up the belongings; Public Storage should pay for our truck rental and mileage due to this inconvenience). So we had to go back up to our floor, move the stuff back in, and by the time we got to our cars to leave, it was 5:59. As I pulled up to the gate to exit, the gate slightly opened before locking me in due to their 6:00 closing time. So I got out of my car, called Customer Service, and while waiting, walked to ask Sabrina for help, and she promptly closed her blinds on me. I walked back to my car, then walked back to Sabrina knowing she was in there, knocked on the door, and she said she's off and I need to call customer service. She's frickin' right there! It would take her 1 minute to open the gate, and instead she said she's clocked out. I worked in customer service for 20 years, and I would have never told a customer that, because that's none of their business whether I'm off or not. I would have instead been happy to help, and then requested that my manager fix my clock-out to reflect the time I finished working. So I told her I appreciated everything she helped out with today, but that I think she's being very rude, and then she shut the door on me. I walked back to my car waiting for someone to answer from Customer Service, and then a few minutes later, she walked out to open the gate for me. I was so pissed off at her initial response to this situation, I honestly didn't thank her for changing her mind, which I do feel bad about. But I cannot wait to be done with this experience, and if this is how Public Storage likes to treat their customers, then I would recommend others not to do business with them either. It's honestly a waste of your money; if you don't use something anymore, get rid of it! read more

Opened it back up and everything was exactly as we left it. But that's not what this review is really about. Moving is always a nightmare. Between flights, rental cars, and moving companies - everything was difficult. I was about to lose it. The shining light? The most helpful and flexible? James and Paola at Public Storage at 5410 Vineland Ave. Movers called last minute to change to a super late after-hours delivery? James helped. They tripping the alarms? Paola helped. I got a unit about 5 weeks ago and today when I went to make a payment they wanted to charge me for 2 months rent plus late fees. I got a storage here to manage my move and Paula, the manager, was so efficient and got me a promo in just few minutes. She was fast and really nice in dealing w my questions and concerns. I have other storage in other places, but I like that they have better carts and she is always available when I need a cart. The storage hallway is properly lighted and my 1 bedroom storage is a good size and good price compare to other storage company. Plus the customer service is excellent!!! read more

Save yourself a headache and go across the street to A-1 Self Storage instead. Grace Kim, the District Manager of Public Storage, has been an abrasive, uncooperative nightmare. Her employee switched us from a roll door to a swing door without showing us the unit (which is against protocol) and in the process, increased the monthly rate without telling us. We have the confirmation email with original rate and the two of her employees have corroborated the error. She adamantly refuses to refund the difference. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Grace Kim is the most unprofessional manger I've ever had to deal with. I'm pretty sure even apes would give a better customer service. I feel really bad for people who work under her. The issue was next: I moved in on sep 5th and was sure I was covered till the 5th of the next mont. (Because I've rented storage unit here back in march). Apparently the storage policy was change and I haven't been notified. It wasn't made clear. I moved out on Nov 2nd, fully shred that I was covered till Nov 5th. But today I started to get calls from collecting agency, claiming I had an unpaid balanced. Being shocked and surprised, I called Public storage and they gave me the number of the manger Grace Kim. After leaving her a voice message, she called me back 30 min later. But it lead to nothing. I was polite and nice to her. I thought there was some kind of mistake and said I'd be be happy to pay for the days I used the storage even thought I thought I was covered. She said she would not do anything about it and I have to pay the whole amount for the month I didn't use. Something like:"uh yeah, it's your problem, I don't care". It was impossible to talk to her, so I said I'll pay what they think is left, $103 wouldn't do much to me, but it was more about a customer service for me, which is pretty much absent. I would think twice or more before renting a unit there. P.S. Not mentioning that 2 or more units got broke into just last week without any suspects being caught due to the lack of surveillance cameras. Bottom line: I'm very disappointed and will NEVER rent a unit at public storage again. And definitely don't recommend it to my friends or anybody. P.P.S. Definitely don't wish anybody to deal with Grace Kim due to lack of customer and personal skills. read more

She provided a professional and speedy experience at this Public Storage location and at the same time made sure all the details were properly described and understood. It was a Sunday and it was very busy.. Hands down the best customer service I've experienced so far. Was attended and assigned a storage unit in less than 10 minutes. The employees here are more then welcoming and make your whole move in more accommodating and less stressful than it already is. Public storage basically says its my fault for renting from them. "You should have seen the walls when you inspected the space." Ha! Sorry I'm not a f@#$ing carpenter and didn't know your walls were 1/2 inch plasterboard. They will give you a false sense of security until something happens to your stuff, then its your fault for trusting them. Do your self a huge favor and never rent from this company. Their website says 100% satisfaction and we care about your business. Yeah until something actually happens to you. They won't even offer to help at all.
