WARNING ridiculous HIDDEN CHARGES! My rent went up $100 after just 3 months! I went from$222 to $319! The website had Zero Mention of it Being any type of "promotional rate" but they sneak it in the contract that they send you a copy of that the price "could" go up. Even so, my contract stated a LOWER number than what they tried to raise it to!! And I'm sorry but "market price" is bs, many competitors have the same size units at a lower rate but I chose this one for its location.I FEEL SCAMMED. Moving is stressful especially when the company that you hired to take care of everything (Clutter is the company) sends a last minute text- morning of- saying that due to unforeseen circumstances, they've changed your move to 3 days later. I will be very thorough. This company is not a bad storage company. My low rating for this particular location is mainly focused on the rate and the main supervisor. We got a 8 x 12 or something for $136 when we first got here. The rates increased dramatically after the first month. As we are going through a difficult time, I couldn't believe the rate was so high, it just isn't worth having a storage in this city. I have had to deal with a weird guy here who sort of harassed people. Everybody has complained about that guy. This dude loves to talk to everybody, you're better off just keeping to yourself, do what you gotta do then leave. I'm not sure if this guy is still there. I was only paying $160 for the same size in San Bernardino from this same company. This place went up almost $300 a month for this size. It is not worth it. I know everything is expensive in Los Angeles area, so if your watching your budget, I would go out of this area for your storage. Due to the late fees adding up, we worked a deal out with customer service and the gentleman from corporate headquarters was very kind to lower the rate the main supervisor was charging us to get our stuff out. Dimitrio, the younger guy working here is very polite and professional. The main supervisor is very rude. He wanted to make sure we failed in being able to retrieve our things. Majority of our stuff can be replaced with money, but sentimental value like high school photos, yearbooks, computer programs, or old report cards isn't gonna sell for shit at the auction. It wasn't worth anything to him if we lost those things. We are very thankful for customer service and corporate HQ for helping us. So I wouldn't recommend this location, but if u could afford it, then good for you. read more

There's people working, and there's ALWAYS a mess. Today, I couldn't even get into my storage unit due to another customer having their ENTIRE UNIT OUT IN THE CORRIDOR. To add to this, they are literally constructing something inside the unit. Wood is everywhere, and wood dust is everywhere. As I tried to make my way in, I kicked a whole pile of wood with my shin. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. Without notice!!! 4. Only when I called them on this did they agree to a PARTIAL refund, and would not guarantee future increases would not happen. They will always use the same language: "From time to time customers may be subject to a rent increase due to the competitive blah blah blah." There's no "time to time" about it. They will IMMEDIATELY AND SUBSTANTIALLY GOUGE YOU after you sign up. This *IS* their business model. read more

I used this facility for about 3 years . The customer service was always good. They have recently updated the way to enter the facility. You can use an app to get in the facility. I've taken one star off because sadly they decide to raise my lease by $80. That was just to high of an increase. I'd understand $25 max. Closing my account was an easy process. If by some miracle they decide to reduce prices , I'll be back. read more

--96% Increase On Rent After 5 Months!!!-- I rarely write negative reviews, but I am shocked by the corporate greed and predatory pricing practices of Extra Space Storage. After an unexpected death in the family, we ended up needing to rent 2 units from Extra Space on short notice. A few months later, Extra Space increased the monthly cost of both units, nearly DOUBLING the cost of one unit. The process of figuring out what happened has revealed Extra Space's profit-at-all-costs business model, and a stunning lack of transparency. Understandably surprised and shocked at a 96% increase, I spoke to the call center, district manager, and building manager to see if this was a mistake. Each understood our frustration, but informed me that the "market rate" for that unit was now almost double. The district manager explained that the rate changes all the time based on computer algorithms. To verify this, we did quite a bit of research online and found that we could still get the exact size unit in the SAME FACILITY for $130--one dollar less than we initially rented it for. Moreover similar units were available in the area from competitors in the same price range, so it seems Extra Space's algorithm and market rate excuse did not hold water. When we called asked them to match THEIR OWN PRICE, they said that we were not eligible couldn't get that deal because we were not "first time renters." Reviewing our original paperwork when we originally signed up, it is clear that we were never given any sort of promotion, and nowhere in the fine print did it mention that we were being offered a rate for being for first time renters. In fact, our rate was simply described as the "web rate" or "flash sale" and listed no qualifications or exclusions. Extra Space had created this loophole to benefit themselves after the fact. The Extra Space corporate call center had a district team lead named Paul reach out to us regarding this. Unfortunately, instead of de-escalating the situation, he could not properly explain the inconsistencies in my rent increase. Furthermore, he could not provide me with any statement on their website that referenced the restrictions they were mentioning verbally. Paul informed me that he would "allow" me to have that web rate, but--astoundingly--later retracted the rate even though I had a CONFIRMATION EMAIL that guaranteed the rate in writing. This extraordinary runaround from Extra Space and their employees in a period of incredible grief for our family has been nothing short of astounding, compassionless, and time-wasting. I spoke with a rep at A-1 Storage and they only raise the rent for tenants 10% a year. If nothing else, we'd like other renters to be warned about Extra Space Storage and their secretive predatory rent increase practices. read more

In a word, amazing customer service! Okay, that's three words, but these guys were absolute stars! They were incredibly easy to work with, quick communications, and the facility and location were great. Unfortunately, our stuff just wouldn't fit into their units, and we had to cancel. They were incredibly understanding and bent over backwards to help us out even then! A big shout out to the manager and assistant manager, Michael and Michelle, for taking such good care of us. Great storage unit! Spacious for trucks and cars to come in and out as they please. I'm wish they had trash cans or a dumpster. People have been leaving trash all over. They also increase your rent after you first 5 months, then 9 month.. and so on.. I think it's 10 or 15%. I do like the late hours so I may stay with them! read more

1. This was the best deal for the size space I was renting within 5 miles of my home! Other storage spaces were quoting me similar prices for smaller units. 2. The customer service I received was great! The woman I worked with was very personable, light sense of humor & went out of her way to show me things & explain things. I experienced everything I could want for customer service. 3. The place is so clean! I've used many different storage units over the years & this was the cleanest I've seen. 4. The units in the center have a covered drive-way which will come in handy today when I take a load since the forecast calls for rain. I haven't seen that before & I'm excited to not get wet going to/from my car :) Note: I hear they have carts for use, but they are locked up to avoid them being stolen. I'll have to remember to ask for a key when I take another load today. read more

It's been a good storage place, and started out at about 150 a month which i though was a little high but was convenient to the area. In the past 6 Months they've increased the rate 3 times with hardy any notice. This time they at least called, last time they just sent an email. read more

I've been using this facility over two years. All of my personal belongings have been secured throughout this time period. I actually find employees walking around making sure there's no funny business going. They will also contact you if you forget to lock your unit. That is excellent customer service to me. I've had this storage for over a year. It's reasonably priced, clean and although due to covid the store may not always be reachable, the general customer service line will always assist. Once they contact the store, I usually receive a response from the store within two hours. It's safe to go to at any hour and I like that it isn't tooo big of a storage facility. The 5 stars is for the fabulous customer service of the store manager and his assistant. We needed to downsize our storage space because we had been holding on to way too much stuff for years. We hoped to move within the facility. Michael, the manager and Michelle, his sweet assistant gave us tremendous customer service and could not have been kinder or more helpful to make our transition easy. The facility is very clean and safe. It's well lit, cool, and has very good security and easy hours. The only draw back ( and it's a big one) is there are no dumpsters on the premises. You have to haul all of your unwanted possessions and trash out of the facility in your car. We are very happy with our new space. We are very grateful to Michael and Michelle for how flexible they were on the move and how diligently they worked with us. They are a dynamic duo!! read more

This is actually a comment on Extra Space the company, not the fine people who work at this location. They were great. Extra Space is a scam. I contracted a small (5x5) space last spring for the advertised rate of $51 - and then reluctantly agreed to cough up an extra $13 for the unadvertised mandatory insurance. I signed up for auto pay and only recently realized that my base rate of $51 had been jacked up to $66. That's over a 30% increase in a year - not even LA's greediest landlords are getting away with those kinds of hikes. Moving my stuff out this weekend. read more

I have used both Extra Space Storage and Public Storage for my needs. Each has its advantages but my preference is ESS. I just started renting at the Vanowen location so I will limit my comments to what I know. I also have a unit in Studio City. I found the North Hollywood staff to be friendly and accommodating. I dealt with Edward, who is the assistant manager, and he was terrific. He showed me a couple of different units, answered all my questions and made the paperwork as easy as possible. My preference for ESS over Public Storage is that both ESS facilities I have used have been exceptionally clean and well maintained. I like the way the facilities are laid out. For personal storage facilities, ESS takes some care in how they are designed. The only "complaint" I have about ESS as a company, and it has nothing to do with this particular location, is that they raise the monthly rental price fairly often and the increases are significant. In fact, the only reason I changed from Studio City to the North Hollywood location was for the lower price. It does not take long before the monthly rental cost doubles. That is the one area in which Public Storage has the edge. They raise rates less often and the percentage of the raise is lower. Otherwise I recommend ESS. read more

I decided to cancel when they decided to arbitrarily raise the rent by 15% after a few months, and the told me it would be raised again in another 3 months. Not the best way to keep a customer. Got my storage unit broken into, the employees were extremely rude and unwilling to help until we showed them sign of entry. Manager told me they was a similar incident two years prior but the facility still failed to have any cameras inside the hallways to the storage units. The only cameras on sight are for the main drive way in and out of the facility, not inside the actual buildings. The camera footage was also barely usable, the resolution of the image was laughable, no face or license plate is readable. Complete rip off. Go somewhere else read more
