I do not recommend this Extra Space Storage location. My experience was extremely frustrating and the customer service was terrible. When I arrived to drop off my belongings, the access code to enter the elevator for my unit had not been activated. I contacted the representative through the kiosk for help, and instead of helping resolve the issue, the representative was very rude and hung up on me. What was supposed to be a quick 30-minute drop-off turned into almost two hours, and I ultimately had to rent an entirely different unit that same day because I could not get access to the unit I had already rented. I called the following day hoping management would at least address what happened. I received no apology, and management was also rude and hung up on me during the call. The lack of professionalism and basic customer service was extremely disappointing. On top of the customer service issues, the facility smelled strongly like marijuana during my visit, and there appeared to be people hanging around inside the facility, which made me uncomfortable as I had my 3 year old with me. Between the access issue, having to rent another unit, the amount of time wasted, being hung up on more than once, and the condition of the facility, this was an awful experience. I would not recommend this location, especially if you expect reliable access to your unit or professional customer service when there is a problem. read more

I just left this facility, and I had possibility one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I went in looking for a small space to store a few totes while my building is being renovated. I don't expect much, but the employee was so unfriendly and even rude, he made me uncomfortable. My unit was broken into. Lost thousands of dollars worth of my belongings. Security cameras were no help. Security codes didn't detour these thiefs. I don't normally leave reviews but this was such a frustrating experience. We rented a storage unit for about 1.5 years and things were overall fine at first, other than the price increasing multiple times...  However at the end, we got a notice that there would be renovations done on our unit. They were going to cut the lock, do the renovations, and install a new lock. This was all fine, but when we came back when the renovations were complete, our TV was gone. We went to the front desk and there were insulations we took the TV ourselves and forgot or someone stole it. We explained it was there before, and gone right after this renovation and the work was done exactly where the TV has been located -- is it possible it was put on another unit by mistake? They said they looked at tapes and there was no way that could happen. So the TV was just gone, and they couldn't do anything about it because I didn't buy their insurance -- which normally I'd understand, I shouldn't need insurance to protect my stuff from the owners after they cut the lock and move my things.  I moved everything out that weekend. Fast forward a few months I get a call that someone came to the front desk to say they had a TV in their unit that didn't belong to them. Well, it was my TV. While I'm grateful I have the TV back once again, this was handled so poorly I could never recommend this location. I also didn't get acknowledgement of the mistake and time wasted or an apology. The SHAMELESS price increases start a few months after you get all settled into your storage locker. The employee signing you up says NOTHING about this, how soon the price gouging is coming and how the increases will keep coming and coming and coming. You get the news every so often in the mail in an innocuous looking postcard thingie. The lockers are very expensive in the first place btw. We're getting ready to remove our stuff because we will not play this game with the owners any longer. If you have all the money in the world, don't mind having your good nature, common sense and basic decency taken advantage of, by all means go here. It's a pretty clean and physically nice facility. I did not have to bring my own lock and I was able to open the unit with my phone. The facility is very clean, and there is ample parking. The employees are also very friendly and helpful. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. Without notice!!! 4. Only when I called them on this did they agree to a PARTIAL refund, and would not guarantee future increases would not happen. They will always use the same language: "From time to time customers may be subject to a rent increase due to the competitive blah blah blah." There's no "time to time" about it. Let's face it ... Storage is a big fat waste of money. If you can find a way to game the system you are golden. Extra Space can be the star here with first month free deals for your shorter term needs. I got two spaces, used both for two months and booked online for deep discounts over walk in prices and got out on the last day of the second month with zero grump from the staff. My only compliant is that the spaces can be a haul from the loading dock and it can be difficult to grab one of the rolling dollies for your use. Also, this photo is the saddest thing I've seen. Had this unit for less than 3 months. When I signed the unit, I went in with my business partner, asked specifically for any special promotion. Was told no. There is none at the moment. Fine, still signed the unit. Then less than 3 months into the unit, I found out they RAISED the unit price over 20% without notifying me. I logged onto my account to pay the bill and found out. When I called the corporate, was told someone will call me which no one did. I told them I didn't get any notification and I am less than 3 months into the unit for the price increase. Only thing I got from that call is the letter that they are raising the price a few days later, I guess make it legal since I alerted them. DO NOT get a unit here. They will raise the price, double digit, any time. Horrible. read more

Over the span of 9 months, this place brought two different breeds of cockroaches into my space and boxes which i then even brought in my car and new home. I had no food or anything in my unit at all. $655 a month for a cockroach infestation. The management just said "that happens". I had thousands of dollars worth of hand painted art, ruined with cockroaches we had to smash on the art to kill and so many sentimental items as well. As clean and easy it is to access this storage just be aware before you rent the place. If you're getting the storage for the long run (6 months and over) just be ready to get a price increase every 6 months. My last increase was $80!!! A 33% increase in 6 months. There are no caps in the contract, which means they can increase the rates as much as they desire. So think long and hard before dumping your stuff in this storage :) read more

This is exactly what I was looking for. Clean, well lit, video monitoring, climate controlled, easy parking. John and Edward are both wonderful to work with. I stopped by a week before the move in date that I booked online, and John showed me around the facility, answered my questions, and even showed me the unit that I had reserved. I would be more than glad to rent with Extra Storage again if I required their services. A deeper reflection on my experience here: people rent storage spaces for various reasons. In my case, I was in a time of transition, moving from one state to another -- this can be a sensitive time for people, so to have a company that cares as much as Extra Space seems to, is really a great service to humanity. I have been meaning to post this for a while. Unfortunately, I have needed a storage for all the years living in Los Angeles. I travel etc.. and like to have a 'safe space' to keep things that I do not want at my home when not there. Well, you will not have that here. I assure you. I moved from a place a few miles away and got everything situated prior the holidays last year. The only reason I moved was because the other place went up every six months like clockwork. The price started out ok but was ridiculous after the last year I was there. I hate moving so, I kept putting it off. I put some of my work designs in the storage unit for safe keeping and got a call around a week and a half later: Did you forget to put the lock on your locker? What?!! He!! no! Who would do that? Anyway, the manager first said he was not sure but THE SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE SHOWS THESE PEOPLE IN UNITS THAT WERE NOT THEIRS! I looked at the video and the people are on the video with some of my stuff in bags etc.. I saw when moving in (not all but a few). Yes, there were a group that apparently run around schools, this locker, virtually anywhere looking at all the crap I sifted through looking with the detectives for some of my items. One of the ho's by the name of Katherine Rostow (she has a record and is on camera with one of the stolen items that I had photos of and is a vintage stand so, I am calling her out) is actually carrying the bottom of a mannequin (not the bust part) because she was too stupid to know there was one. What she did with it is anyone's guess. So, I waste all this time in court to deal with these degenerate losers that literally were renting from the facility they were stealing from. I appreciated the one manager helping to get the info the police and to assist me but the other one was saying things like"I am more angry than you because this is our business." Sure, he is more upset than a victim...not! This place has cameras but not in a lot of the places it would have been helpful to show the actual breaking of locks etc.. Only points of entry and the ends of the hallway. You can see people going in and out of units and if they are not on the agreement and someone reports a robbery or a lock is cut, you have a crime but it is a lot of hassle for nothing. It is now a year later and the cops do not dust, etc.. so, these cases get thrown out and these losers with no ability to get a freakin' job (I must assume) continue on course after a few days in jail and a slap on the wrist. In other words, in order to be truly protected, you need the best footage, decent detectives (I was told mine wrote false information, and a DA that gives a rats -ss. Just a lame system and I do not entirely put blame on this facility (amazing they even knew the morons) but you need the entire system to work in order to see justice. My issue with the place is that the one manager told me he had a 'feeling' this group were up to something so, instead of working a few nights instead of basic hours to catch them, they just brushed it off. I even had a friends friend (a PI) case the place and they were still doing things even when this crime was committed. The case went through three DA's in various courts, various police, etc... BTW: These gross criminals (one was even a male model) hookers, armed robber, etc.. make careers of this. I had to sift through various storage units, trucks, etc... to see literally hundreds of stolen items that were going in and out (in the presence of the police). I never had this problem with a storage that was in Sun Valley, much worse area, much less security, and there for more than 10 years. The Glendale area is actually (if you look on blotters) much worse area for crime than Sun Valley (I know, it shocked me too). Actually, Studio City, Burbank, and even Van Nuys has less overall crime than Glendale. Beware! Side Note: All storage places are (rent at your own risk) also, I only had a large heavy industrial lock). Best get the locks that fit inside the door (learn from me). read more

This facility located at 6527 San Fernando Road, Glendale, is alway very clean and well maintained. I feel very safe and secure storing my personal items here. Rodrigo, manager, and John, assistant manager, are so professional and provide outstanding customer service. It is alway a great pleasure speaking with them when necessary in person or by phone. I had a unit here for about 18 months. The facilities here are great, and you cannot beat the access hours. The staff, however, leave something to be desired. When I moved out of my unit, I sent in a notification on their online portal. I was then instructed to stop by or call the location and inform them of my move-out. I stopped by a few days later and spoke with John, he updated the move-out date and said I was all set, all I needed to do was lock up and turn in the keys when I moved out. Then I got a notification from them that my payment was due. I thought that was strange as I've been enrolled in automatic payments from the start. Turns out the payment was not run automatically because they turned it off when I went in, well I found this out when we tried to access the facilities on a Sunday and there was no staff there to help and no one available via phone. So I responded to the payment link on the notification I got and was prompted to pay in full. I did, so that we had access to our things. When I got a call back, I was informed that they wouldn't refund me for the prorated amount as the company does not process refunds. I explained the situation to the female manager, who told me I had to come in person and pay in advance to get the prorated amount. When I told her that I did come in and no one ever told me anything about paying the prorated amount and that I was told my account was taken care of, she said she would investigate and call me back. She did, and left no information in her message to me. I then returned her call and was told she was busy, never heard back from them again. When I moved out, I was told I could not use the garbage dumpsters. I didn't have any large items, a broken poster frame, some box-of-rags, stuff like that. She offered to take broken down cardboard boxes (which I didn't have), she also said we could always come back when the garbage was empty but then she didn't know when the next trash pickup would be. Then when I had everything moved out and ready to finish up, she said she was on her lunch break and wouldn't help me, but it was okay because I didn't need to be there in person. (She also told me to take the lock off, which was totally different than what John said. If I had followed his instructions I again would have been up a creek.). The employees here dropped the ball, and I had to pay for it. read more
