Moved items from Austin, TX to Dallas this weekend and Rita and Jackie were both very helpful, kind, and accommodating.

Self storage is always a royal pain: locations typically aren't convenient, it's often impossible…read moreto park a large truck on the premises, and then, you're always wondering whether your items are safe from theft and protected as much as possible from the elements. Further, most places stack their contracts against you, making it a hassle to terminate your agreement once the need for storage ends. In short, it's almost impossible to go through a storage term without some degree of inconvenience. Deep Ellum Storage, however, sets a new mark in what a storage center should be. It has a convenient downtown location, its design allows you to bring even a large truck directly up to your unit (no need to push carts down hallways or into elevators), and the place is across the street from the police department. But beyond location and design, Deep Ellum Storage's biggest asset is its owner, Ed, who couldn't have been nicer to my wife and me. His prices are fair and flexible, he runs a tight ship, and his business is b.s. free. After a year of storing the contents of my home in one of the units, I went to Ed to close out my contract, expecting that I would have to go get some document notarized and signed in blood in order to be able to exit the agreement in 30-60 days. Ed, however, told me that he had taken care of everything, and that he hoped to see us again soon. Who else in his business does that? I couldn't have asked for a better storage experience, and highly recommend Deep Ellum Storage.

Mendel told me the first month was free and $260 after. the first month I was charged $1,088. denoted from my account. Memdel stated I had to pay two months and would receive a credit of $488. I have been waiting over a month for that. Just to end my business with them I got a new storage unit, with another company. they deliver my stuff and tell me I have a balance of $4728.50. I have been calling and sent several emails to Mendel all day. He has not gotten back to me as yet. and it is now 6:36 pm. This is the worse company. you might pay more but use a better company.

This is my below email I sent to Dumbo on April 2 after my move and got no response…read more "I am writing this email because I am very disappointed and disgusted. I personally hate to write complaints. I have used you about 3 other times and never had a bad experience till last Wednesday. When I called to get a quote, I said I can give you my list of furniture but, not my total number of boxes, as I am not fully packed yet.  I told him exactly what I had to pack though.  When the mover's got to my apartment they didn't even have a bed on the list, which I told them when I called, and they only had ten boxes. I am a girl with clothes and a fully furnished apartment. My salesperson Becks said he was going to send me a truck and sent me a van. I am a woman who has a studio apartment full of furniture and clothes. The salesperson blamed me and was very argumentative. He kept saying I did not give him all my items. When the first set movers got to my apartment, they became very argumentative when the items in my apartment did not match their list and THEY talked to me like a piece of garbage. They ended up apologizing before they left. When they apologized, they said he said I mean no disrespect, I have sisters too. When I called my salesperson to fix the situation, he continued to blame me and threatened to cancel my move. I had to move out from my apartment that day, my lease was up. I was in tears. I asked to speak to a manger twice and my sales rep lied and said he was a manger. (Which I found out to be untrue). I had to pay $300 more and had wait for them to send me a PROPER SIZE, and should have been sent initially. A My sister who was helping me move called Dumbo while I was on the phone to speak to a manger. They said Marco was the manager and not my sales rep. Dan told her he would call me back and never did. Also note, Beck said when I spoke to him that he would call me and let me know when the second movers were coming.  I never received that phone call; I just got a text when to expect them. From the moment the new set of movers got to my old apartment they complained.  One of them wasn't even wearing a mask. My sister had to ask them to put it on. When the new movers came, I had INFORMED them that I had workers working in my new apartment. I told them they must put everything in the middle of the room. When the movers got to my new apartment, they didn't want to follow the rules and they received two complaints. My BUILDING super threatened to throw them out. They asked me to tell my workers to stop working. Their boss Eric called me and asked if I had workers and if I wanted my stuff moved in. I said yes and told him what was happening all day.  He was not nice and blamed me as well. He said I heard too that you had an issue this morning.   He also said we sent a truck to you as soon as possible and it was your fault you did not give a correct list. Additionally, he lied and said he was a manager. While he was arguing with me, he told me we should have charged you more. The movers than told me I should put my stuff in storage and also if I wanted to use their blankets for $20. I said no, my workers are going to cover my stuff. The movers called me for a second time to ask to keep their covers. I said no.  They also told me why did you move to this building. It is horrible. Why they said that I have no idea. The movers asked my sister and I to watch their truck because they parked by a fire hydrant. P.S. they got a ticket. Then IT waved in our faces.  We were watching the truck, but never saw any cops. When I gave the movers a tip they asked me for more money. The nerve. My sister is moving in a month and dosen't want to use you now. It was a horrible experience."
