Got quoted a rate of $147 per month so I signed up and moved my stuff in. Two months later I get charged $247 without any notification, I just saw on my credit card. I called to ask about it and they said they can change the rates whenever they want to without notice if ~market rates~ change. Totally deceptive. They probably think people won't move their stuff out and they can just scam them this way. I moved my stuff out two months later. read more

I don't like leaving negative reviews unless necessary. All I can say is watch out for the bait and switch. 2 months after moving in was told price was increasing by over $94 per month. I called to complain and was told if I paid a year in full would have a lower rate (still higher than what we agreed upon when moving in 2 months earlier). Brenda said she left me a voice mail and I did not reply so the guaranteed year rate was voided. Nobody tried to email, send a letter or text me. You can't assume everyone receives voicemails. The rate increase notices came via USPS, not voicemail. Now, nearly a year later, rate is increasing again. We chose this location for security. One gate was broken and open for a long time, another gate was broken and you could not access the building. I was condescendingly asked if anything was stolen during the time the gate was broken and left open. I was also told how much it cost to fix the gate so I suppose that cost is passed on to people who rent. They assume it is too much trouble to move and people will just be forced to pay (this told to me by a person we know who owns a private storage facility in McKinney). We are moving out. Avoid! ****A follow up response to Emily S from Extra Space regarding her reply...Yes, you do often adjust the prices, 2 huge increases in less than a year is outrageous! Within first two months of renting unit I received a notice that said I was going from $334.95 per month up to $429 per month. You say it is due to "costs associated with providing top-notch service and a clean, secure facility". If your main gate is broken and left standing open for a couple of months and the other gate off the service road is broken for a couple of months, I don't think we should be the ones to pay for it. Seems like insurance would cover that. I also did not need to know the amount it cost to repair things. That is not my concern. I don't share this type of information with clients I do business with. read more

Beware of the Mckinney Ave location's rent increase. They increased my monthly rate $23 after 4 months. Now they increased it $80 more. That is $103 increase in 1 year. Their facilities are nice and the workers are friendly but $231 a month is too much. read more

Increased monthly rate (10x10, non-climate controlled) ) from 115-179 dollars a month (about 55 percent) citing "market conditions". Wow, seems so opportunist.and oddly excessive. Other storage places, including one across from their location starts at about $108. Another $115 and is 10x15. Obviously I am moving everything based on principle alone. read more

Do not rent a unit with Extra Space Storage! Leasing the unit was a piece of cake and the staff was very friendly. I signed up for a 10x20 space for $297 a month in October and by January my monthly price was $350. I'm moving to another storage unit! read more

The manager at the Duncanville location is great. Do not EVER move while you are leasing from them. It is all but impossible to change your address. They link you credit/debit card to the address so your payment won't go through without a manual update. My husband went to the site, IN PERSON, 2 different times telling them the address was wrong and they insisted it didn't matter but their system wouldn't take the payment. I spent well over an hour on the phone to the bank thinking it was on their side when all along it was on Extra Space Storage's side. Customer service from the helpline and the online system are HORRIBLE. Do not, repeat, do not use the online system. It doesn't work, error messages everywhere and when you call in to the help line, it still doesn't work. I finally got a live person who could not help me by the way, was transferred to a different automated system which promptly hung up on me. I was also told, during COVID-19 that I had to go there in person to change the address. The manager called me and found a work around which fixed the issue but it should have never been so hard! read more

Really good service. We moved out of state and Jennifer was very helpful with assisting us with our rental. We got 1 month free and we vacated our storage before our free month ended and check out and finalization was really easy. The place itself is very safe, they have cameras and alarms and it is gated all around. You need an access code to get in to the units. They also have pest control so all your stuff should be ok. First off, this place is a reviews factory. They ask you several times for a review even when you are just signing up. The rent on this place was supposed to be less than $50 when I signed up. I got billed for a base rent of around $65. The lady at the front desk said that she made a mistake and that it would be fixed on my next bill. We are a few billing cycles in and I am tired of trying to fix this. Also, they are charging all sorts of fees on top. $30 for insurance and fees are bullshit! I am grabbing all of my items and denying the charges on my credit card. read more

Stowing away your stuff is a huge task. Nobody likes moving and nobody likes lugging their stuff off to a dusty locker halfway across town. Nobody wants to pay an arm and a leg to store their stuff either. When you live in the boonies, storage is fairly cheap. But if you live in Central Dallas, storage can be a pretty penny. So for me location and a fair price were a top priority. Enter: Extra Space Storage on McKinney. The prices are average (about $150 for 10x10 space) but the location for me is unbeatable. While the price may not be the cheapest, it's worth being able to walk to my storage unit to grab things I may need in a hurry. The facility itself is clean with spacious hallways and multiple entrances. There are dolly carts at each door for your convenience although on weekends, the elevators can be pretty busy. Overall, if you're looking for reasonable, convenient storage in Uptown/Park Cities/MStreets, Extra Space Storage is a good option. They have another location closer to Fitzhugh but their prices are higher at that location. The overall experience has certainly made moving things to storage less painful. read more

It can be a little bit creepy walking into a semi dark storage floor, but I love that this storage facility saves energy by having motion-activated lights on each floor. The floors are very clean, the gate always works, and there are trolleys on the first floor for your use. I'm glad this is where we have our storage. read more

Mike Ramirez and Mike (the other mike) were fantastic. Within a few minutes of reserving my storage online, Mike called me and confirmed my order which I ended up upgrading to a larger unit based on his recommendation. He answered all my questions and was very helpful. A week before my move in, he called me back to confirm my arrival time and asked if I had any questions. When I arrived after a long drive into town, he was very attentive and provided fantastic customer service. He gave me a tour of the facility and was totally ready for me to click and sign my paperwork. Best storage facility experience I have ever had.
